The golden retriever is one of the sweetest dog breeds, and one of the best for guide dog training. In this chapter book, the story is told from the point-of-view of golden Sammy, whose job it is to keep student Jessie safe while navigating the streets of Chicago. Sammy spots danger in the traffic, helps Jessie escape from a fire, and shares her triumph when she goes on-stage to perform. Kids will learn painlessly about guide dogs, who really are man's (and women's!) best friends.

Catherine Stier continues her great new chapter book series for young readers featuring working dogs with I AM SAMMY, TRUSTED GUIDE. Young readers learn firsthand about guide dogs and the things they do for their visually impaired owners. Sammy tells the story from a dog’s perspective, which is so appealing. Check out this series for young readers who are proudly transitioning to chapter books. You’ll be glad you did.
