A well written HR’s smut!:)
But not for everyone...
Certainly better than CR’s smut which widely available out there.
I don’t think this author publishes her books every month like many other current smut authors, therefore she have the time to write her story properly, lol.
There is no dark tag in this book, but this is not a light read either, is not a hardcore bdsm but their first time certainly a rape, non con/ dub con before a loving relationship.
I’m not sure if the story background historically correct but the characters are believable and they didn’t make me cringe while reading their story:)

This is a dark romance that I didn't like very much the first time I read it, but I found it at least a little more enjoyable the second go-round.
Sarah is an American girl in London who has decided to find employment as a model for artists (she seems unaware - at least at first - that this establishment offers its patrons a little more than modeling... ahem). As she is walking the streets and running late, she crashes into a tall, elegant, handsome man who quite literally takes her breath away. Lord Pierce Warrington grabs the girl who careens into him and upon hearing her "curse," admonishes her by telling her that beautiful mouths should not say such foul words. He, however, is immediately taken with her beauty, and although she escapes his hold without giving her name as he requested, he noticed where she went: the very place he plans to visit to obtain a new muse for his photography work. Though Sarah is extremely intimidated by Pierce, she cannot deny her attraction to him. And when Pierce starts to expose her to his darker yearnings, she is both intrigued and concerned. What can ever come from the pairing of an impoverished American and a gentleman after all? But as suspicious activities begin to take place around Sarah, she realizes she is in danger. Will Pierce come to her rescue and expose his relationship with her, or will she be left to fend for herself?
What I liked:
--- The plot was interesting, and the suspense aspects were good (I wasn't sure who the villain was until much later in the book than I usually guess)
--- Solid steamy goodness
What I didn't like as much:
--- Pierce was a little too dominating when Sarah did not appear willing (I tend to like some form of consent even in dark romances)
--- The whole "figging" punishment makes me squeamish (and I cannot believe they did this to children - yikes!)
Overall, a decent story with a pretty high ranking on the smut scale!

Zoe Blake never fails to provide a kinky story with an older man who enjoys his discipline. Pierce and Sarah had an interesting dynamic, and I really enjoyed not only the kinkiness but the plot, and murder mystery in the story.

Picture it. Hero bumps into the heroine in the street. He's a complete and total stranger, mind you.
They do the awkward "whoops" after gravity leaves them be, so she gets ready to nod, smile, then walk off. Then dude snatches her into an embrace; a HARD embrace! So hard that "the biting sting" brought "tears to her eyes."
Mother fucker, YOU ARE A GODDAMN STRANGER, GET YOUR GRABBY HANDS OFF HER! That is creepy, and no, and flat out disturbing! Personal space, ass hat. PERSONAL! SPACE!
I was 50% tempted to drop this book then and there, BUT THEN LITERALLY 1 SENTENCE LATER IT GOT WORSE!

Ever so often you come across an author that you'll buy their book just because their name is on it. Zoe Blake is one of those authors for me. And I'm glad to report that she didn't disappoint with her newest book. A mystery, a romance, some creative kink (not your typical spanking) all comes together in a sexy romp in Victorian London. Ms. Blake's research in the early photography clearly shows in the story which only helps to create a wonderful realistic feel. Additional, Sarah's friend is nicely developed, which doesn't always happen with secondary characters. The solution to the mystery also came as a bit of surprise to me but I won't spoil it for any who venture to try this charming story.

I received this ARC book in exchange for an honest review and was drawn into the story from the beginning. Sarah is an innocent and naïve young woman who moves to England from America and becomes a model for different types of artists. She is picked for an assignment by Lord Pierce Warrington. Pierce is a powerful and dominant man with dark desires. Throughout this story he introduces Sarah to the world of BDSM and brings her undiscovered desires to the surface. What starts out to be a strong attraction soon defies the rules of society during this Victorian era. Pierce becomes obsessed and possessive of Sarah as he falls in love with her. When danger threatens her safety and well being he will do anything to protect her and keep her safe even if that means a harsh punishment. However, can Sarah accept all these changes and this new way of life, only time will tell. I highly recommend reading this wonderful historical fiction set in the Victorian era. There is danger, murder, lust, love, spankings, and plenty of other punishments. Come get lost in this dark erotic story and enjoy the book.

What a great story! I just finished reading this book and have to say that I really enjoyed it. I found Sarah to be an absolutely wonderful character that is full of innocence and wicked dark desires. She is completely untouched in the ways of BDSM until she meets Pierce., who is a strong dominant man that has a deep need for dispensing harsh punishments to naughty ladies. In addition to these two wonderful characters, this story contains a murder mystery that places Sarah front and center. Along the way, this book provides their journey from two folks that meet by accident to a strong and loving couple. This is marginally better than this author's other books since the H isn't a raging psychotic and actually does one or two positive things for the h that makes us understand why she might care for him. There is some dub-con, but, again, it's not the full-on rape common to this author's other books. If you like erotica with some darkness, you may enjoy this as long as you're not looking for much story to underpin the kink.

His Dark Obsession by Zoe Blake is a wonderful sit down and get comfortable because you're not gonna want to go anywhere until you finish reading this story to find out what happens with all the plots and mysteries! There's playful romance all the way to suspenseful murder mystery! Ms. Blake does a masterful job of holding her audience in the palm of her hand and taking them everywhere she wanted them to go. Awesome bit of literature and a sexy hot bit of kinkery fun rolled into one delicious sensuous morsel.

Ms Blake sure knows how to write an action packed, heart stopping and sexy as sin book. I loved it. Lord Pierce Warrington, is so hot, hot, hot that I envy Sarah who starts out modeling for him to later become much more. There is many twists and turns thorough out the story especially about what happens to Florence, one of the girls employed at Mrs. Mildred Needham's Studio of Virtuous Young Artist Models the same place that Sarah was employed. Anyone that enjoys reading a BDSM story with some mystery throw in too will love this book.

Beautiful cover, lovely formatting and well-written sex scenes. This plot doesn’t develop deep love, so if you are looking for more romance, this book might not be for you.
I felt the main character Pierce was well-developed and aware, but that perhaps Sarah needed a little more of a backstory to explain why she was okay with what was happening to her. The world Sarah has become a part of is shown, but it would help if the reader was given clues as to why she was so accepting of her situation.

This is a wonderful story set in late Victorian times. The two key characters, Sarah and Pierce, are interesting and likable – and the affair that develops between them is passionate and filled with instances of various punishments he gives to her. There is a murder in the middle of the story, and it threatens the life of Sarah – Pierce goes to great lengths to protect her and solve the problem. The story ends well – and I would love to see a sequel because I liked the characters.

This was a very different story from others in this genre and from Ms. Blake's other books. Sarah makes her living as a living model in the late Victorian times. She runs into Lord Warrington who decides she must be his. She is the perfect mix of innocence with an adventurous spirit. This book has sex, discipline, as well as mystery, (and in the end maybe love.)

Awesome book!
I read every book this author writes and this book is a perfect example of why I do. Another fantastic historical romance written so very well with enough steam to require a fan! Add in suspense, mystery and danger and I was hooked, consequently, I read it straight through! Quit reading here and enjoy this book instead!

Zoe Blake has done it again. This is a great book full of punishment and pleasure. Sarah an American living in London accidentally meets Lord Pierce Warrington. This is when he decides he must have her. He hires her to model for him and then introduces her punishments and pleasure. This book is full of punishment, bdsm and mystery. A great love story.

This book only reinforced my trust in Zoe Blake to offer a dark (the forced pain/pleasure conundrum), tantalizing, fresh view of D/s, dubious consent, murder mystery with a very satisfying, if not de rigueur, HEA. Honestly loved Pierce and Sarah dynamic, another winner by Ms. Blake.

Let's be real here. This is historical porn. And if this kind of things does it for you, you'll enjoy it, but if you're reading for overarching themes or social commentary, look elsewhere. It does require some suspension of disbelief/commonly-held values. If a man did what the hero does in real life, run the opposite direction as quickly as possible, but it's fine in erotica.

I really enjoyed this book! It grabbed me right away and never let go. It has a compelling main couple, fun supporting characters, a mystery whose answer wasn't blindingly obvious right away, and super HOT scenes. You can't miss!

I really enjoyed this one by Zoe Blake. She tends to really test the limits in the age play and push the boundaries and successfully does so. She is incredibly talented. The characters were well developed and I was captivated from beginning to the end. Well done ZOE!

I absolutely loved this book. The twists interwoven in the story really take it to the next level. The characters have so much charisma and energy. I really liked that Lord Warrington did not want to change Sarah. She was the perfect canvas for his dark desires.

I absolutely love Zoe Blake’s writing style, it flows really well and is very descriptive. And she always researches the time she writes in very well.
I really enjoyed the book. There was great interaction between sarah and Pierce and sarah made me laugh a lot.
