Thank you NetGalley, and Caitlin at RHCB for the e-arc for review!

Sunkissed was a cute Kasie West book. Not my favorite of hers, but I still really enjoyed Brooks and Avery's story. I love that so many of Kasie's books are inspired by 80's/90's movies and this one was inspired by Dirty Dancing which is a movie I love. Avery spends the summer with her family at a summer camp and meets Brooks, who works at the camp. This one was sweet, fun, and a tad bit predictable but overall a good listen.

Sunkissed was really great light summer read! On the Fence is still my #1, but Sunkissed has now become one of my favourite KW books as well alongside with The Distance Between Us, Fame, Fate, and the First Kiss or The Fill-In Boyfriend.

Sunkissed takes place at a summer camp. Avery, alongside with her parents and a sister, are spending the summer there. She is glad for the chance to get away from her life for several months, especially when she learned that her best friend kissed h

I was a bit hesitant about this one because, even though I love Kasie West, her past few books have been a bit meh for me. I was really pleasantly surprised by just how much I enjoyed this one. I'd even venture to say it's one of Kasie West's best books yet.

It definitely had a different vibe from what I was expecting, which was actually for the better. A lot of YA books center on finding yourself, but there was something about the precise struggles Avery was going through tha

This was absolutely everything I needed when I needed it.

Who doesn't love a sweet coming of age story that will make you smile, melt your heart a little and wish you knew all these amazing characters in real life because, once again, West has made them seem so real. Characters that you have come to care about and most of all, love.

West has this amazing ability to make outstanding characters that stick with you long after her stories are through. Stories filled with wonderful friendships and fam

I don’t think I’ll ever say no to a Kasie West book.

I loved Avery. She’s struggling and maybe a bit uncertain and being in her head was fantastic. Her sister Lauren was a delightful distraction with a lot more going on than it seems. Brooks is a little broody and stand off-ish at first, but with good reason.

Plot wise, it was good. As with any Kasie book, there are a lot of sweet moments, a good amount of fluff, and minimal angst and this was no exception. I could have happily read 100 more pag

If I ever feel like I need a light read or if I feel I'm heading towards a reading slump, I can always trust Kasie West's books to rescue me 🤩

Sunkissed is about Avery, who goes to a summer camp with her family after being betrayed by her best friend and ex-boyfriend. She's crushed but since she has this urge to just smooth things over with everyone, she can't really face the situation and doesn't know what to do. In the middle of the camp, she realises that she's sick of being called the "predic

A family trip with *cue gasps* no wifi!! I loved this because this accidentally happened to me on a family vacation about 3 years ago! Except that I did not have an annoying sister and a cute off-limits staff member :(

Avery was pretty relieved about the no wifi thing since she was trying really hard to ignore her best friend who had recently kissed Avery’s ex-boyfriend. Also, Avery is tired of being the predictable daughter and wants to start trying out new things and coming out of her shell.

This had some cute and funny moments, but ended up being just ok for me. It felt like there were a lot of things recycled from some of West's other books - the songwriting from "PS I Like you", the making a list of things to do to expand your horizons like "Life, Love, and the List", the outdoorsy setting like "Listen to your Heart." It was just kind of odd. I liked the main character well enough, but felt pretty ambivalent about everyone else, including the love interest. I also felt like she s ...more

Kasie West is one of the few authors that I can't help but to devour her books really fast because I can't get enough of her cute fluffy stories ..
In this book we will meet Avery, she is on a summer vacation with her family in a resort and she finds it the perfect opportunity to figure out the situation with her friend and ex boyfriend .. no phone, no internet, just pure communication .. then she meets Brooks and he makes a challenge for her to find herself and get out of her comfort zone starti

This was so much Dirty Dancing meets High School Musical?? My friend Maya said that when Kasie was done watching Netflix for ideas, she switched to Disney+ and there is no better way to describe this book. Still kinda liked it though.

Sunkissed is about a girl named Avery who is on a family vacation to a remote camp for the summer. There is no wifi or cell service which is perfectly fine for Avery after she was recently betrayed by her best friend. At the camp she has to deal with the great outdo

Sunkissed by Kasie West was a sweet, light-hearted YA summer romance about a girl finding her way.

I am way behind on the Kasie West train. I haven’t read any of her books though they’re on my TBR. And have been for a while. But Sunkissed is motivating me to read her other books. I loved this bo

When Avery Young finds out that her best friend and boyfriend kissed, she’s more than happy to escape on a family vacation with her parents and younger sister, Lauren, to a remote campsite in the mountains. Running, hiding and just trying to keep the peace has always been Avery’s way of keeping herself safe. But this summer, she’s ready for a change. She’s looking to branch out and break out of her shell, which she works to accomplish with the help of Brooks, an attractive bass player in the cam ...more

I loved Kasie West's other novels based on 80s and 90s romance movies (P.S. I Like You based on You've Got Mail and The Distance Between Us based on Pretty in Pink), so I was excited as soon as I realized this is inspired by Dirty Dancing.

Sadly, Sunkissed is cute, but not much more than that. Our main characters both have family issues and there is plotline dealing with poverty and a sick parent. So I would expect quite a lot of depth, but this story remains shallow.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. When I start a Kasie West book I have high expectations. I know that isn't the best way to go into a new book, but I can't help it, it's Kasie. Her books usually just get me so I always expect to have that experience. So when I picked up Sunkissed my expectation were off the charts...and man did Kasie d

Sunkissed by Kasie West

I always love Kasie West’s books, they always leave me with great character growth and a really sweet love story. Sunkissed is about a family that decides to stay at this camp by this lake for the entire summer. Avery and her younger sister aren’t really looking forward to a social media free summer, and to top things off Avery just went through a breakup with her boyfriend. Since both girls are bummed about being here all summer, avery’s younger sister decides she’s goin

I feel bad rating this because it seems I've really grown out of Kasie's books, but I'm gonna put this just for my own GR stuff. I'm giving it a 3 because it's not the book's fault I don't like it, but it's more realistically a 2.

Yeah I just.. don't think I'll be reading anymore books by this author. On top of just always being so white and heterosexual, they just don't seem to have a draw for me, plot wise. The last few books she's published I've just been reading going "okay and?" when her boo

What a cute young adult book! My daughters used to love books by Kasie West and sadly, they have outgrown them now but I still pick them up and read them when I can because I think this author does a great job of spinning a relevant story that teenagers can relate to and enjoy. There are struggles typical to teenagers and sometimes bigger issues but those issues never become overwhelming or depressing. The story remains upbeat and positive for the most part which I think is so important.

Avery Young is used to always letting things go. She hates conflict and will avoid it at all costs. Then, her best friend kisses her boyfriend, who she just broke up with and Avery has had it. A summer away at a lake camp resort with no access to Wi-Fi or cell service came at the perfect time.

Too bad Lauren, Avery’s sister, can’t help but complain about being away for so long. She’s trying to become an influencer. The two sisters don’t always get along so when they are supposed to spend the sum

When you start a Kasie West book, you can be pretty sure you're going to get some wholesome cuteness and that's absolutely what Sunkissed is as well. If you're looking for a great fluffy romance this summer, this one is definitely a good option!

Since a few months ago, I've been slowly realising that YA just isn't always my thing anymore. The older ones I still absolutely love, but overall there's been a few that I would've loved a lot more if they were a little more mature. Starting on Su

Avery Young and her family are spending the summer at an off-the-grid camp resort, which turns out to be the perfect escape from finding out your best friend kissed your ex. Avery is all too familiar with running away from her problems, and avoiding any confrontation. But now, she’s tired of being walked all over, and wants to use the summer to find herself, and not the person people expect her to be. Luckily for her, one of the camp employees, Brooks, the guitar player of the camps band, needs ...more
