I was a failure.

I’d grown up with two well-meaning, but also two overbearing parents, and, as the youngest of three siblings, I was the only one who wasn’t “successful.”

I worked in a bar. In. A. Bar.

Yup, that was me hearing my mother’s disappointed voice. Because everyone around me was climbing the corporate ladder or performing brain surgery. Hell, my own brother was succ

I am really loving this series!! There is nothing more satisfying than reading a story that involves family by choice . For me, that is the truest form of family. Those are your people :) They will get you thru the rough and celebrate the rest. If anyone deserved that family it would be our heroine, Annabelle. Her DNA runs thru some twisted folks *blink* but she’s a survivor and her true family will get her thru :) That’s what’s stuck out from this series to me the most … the circle of family ...more

Annabelle has been welcomed into the folds of a new family, one who accepts and loves her the way she is - a bartender, one not driven to succeed in some high pressure job like her siblings, one who is the black sheep in her Filipino/Korean family. So when Brooke's brother, Hayden, comes back from the dead, and she sees Brooke upset by it, her mama bear protective instincts rush to the fore. Hayden has the brunt of her wrath now, and he's going to

Faber is not afraid to tackle the hard stuff. She can break a heart, expose attitude or spice up a romance and she does it all with losing her sense of humor. Sometimes there's an instant connection other times emotion does all the work. No matter the case her heroes and heroines remind us to feel. On the Rocks thrusts heartache into overdrive with a tale of angst that culminates in self discovery. Annabelle and Hayden are brutally honest. Their journey will haunt and inspire as they let us into ...more

This is only my second or third book by Elise and I’m hooked. This is Annabelle and Hayden’s story and it was so heartbreaking and beautiful. I felt so much for these two and was rooting for them the whole time because they belong together whether they knew it or not.

This book is part of the Love After Midnight Series and is book #3 in the series. This romance book is a great third addition.

Annabelle is a beautiful independent woman and works at the bar. She is a real kick lady and wont take any crap. She is having a lot of tough times with her family and now Hayden is here and now she and everything is different.
Hayden is a man that has a lot of making up to do and when he comes back and sees her, there is a real spark between them both. He is determined

I'm sorry but I couldn't get in touch with the main characters. Hayden returns after 10 years, he pretended to be dead. Now he is back. I liked his character but forgiveness came too soon. He does all he can to make the people around him feel comfortable and trust in him. Annabelle loves her life. But her parents don't. She is just worth something if she would be something great. Like a CEO. But she is just a bartender. She loves the people around her and does everything to help out. Grown in su ...more

On The Rocks is yet another fantastic little read by Elise Faber. I had been waiting for this book ever since discovering Brooke’s dead twin brother was actually alive! You just knew that this was going to be a must read right away book.

As expected, Hayden is begrudgingly accepted into the fold. His sister Brooke and best friend Brent put up some resistance but ultimately are happy to discover he is alive and well. The gang welcomes him, all except Anabelle, who is not so quick to accept the se

I've read quite a few of Elise Faber's books and have always enjoyed them. I was really hoping I would enjoy this book. However it just fell kind of flat for me. I had a hard time relating to the main characters. I liked them but only a little bit. Hayden was a good character but he had a lot of making up to do and I kind of felt like everyone just accepted him back into the folds. Annabelle was a decent, strong character who was still fighting her demons. She was likable to an extent. I liked h ...more

On the Rocks is a fabulous addition to the Love After Midnight series. This is Anabelle's story. If you have been following along with the series then you know Anabelle is one of the bartenders and has watched this tight circle find their love one by one. Anabelle is one tough cookie and doesn't let anyone push her around. But when it comes to her family is the black sheep and is happy with it until her family tries to rip her apart. You feel for Anabelle with just wanting something she loves an ...more

This is the 3rd book of Love after Midnight Series and Annabelle and Hayden’s story.
I really loved that book. Starting with Hayden showing up on Brent‘s doorstep after ten years pretending to be dead... If you read the first two books you know that Brooke (Hayden’s sister) and Brent (his best friend) where devastated after his death, so him showing up is like a knock out.
Annabelle left her family after her mother died so their is some kind of natural connection between them, which Annabelle tri

After a tragedy in Annabelle’s family she decided that she had to choose a life that made her happy rather than the life her family wanted for her. She is a bartender at the pub that Kace owns and she is part of a group of friends who love and accept her for the loyal and fierce friend that she is.

Hayden made a choice a decade earlier that cost him his family and friends when he thought he was doing the right thing. He has now returned to be close to his friends and family looking for forgivenes

Although this is the third book in the series, I haven't read any of the previous books and although it didn't impact this story specifically, I feel reading them may have given me more of a background on the characters. That being said, I did enjoy this book and will go back to read the first two. Ten years ago, Hayden's twin sister identified his body, but now it seems it was all a hoax and he's back. On the first night he is home, he meets Annabelle and is instantly attracted to her. But Anna ...more

This is the 3rd book in this amazing series and is Hayden and Annabelle’s story. Annabelle is a bartender and the black sheep on her family, who is fighting her demons and has lose all self confidence along the way. Hayden has just returned after he was supposed to have been “dead” for the past 10-years, and he knows that he has a lot to prove to redeem himself. Loved it.

Anabelle is the bartender at Kace's bar. Her family dynamic is not a good one but Brooke, Kace, Iris and Brent have made her feel very welcomed.. They are her family.

Hayden shows up after 10 years of being "dead". Brooke is upset but so happy to have her brother back. Brent is not thrilled with is friend but Anabelle she is attracted but wants nothing to do with him.

Hayden is persistent and is determined to get to know her, he does all he can to help her feel special, loved, beautiful a

Another fantastic book in the Love After Midnight series! I loved Annabelle and Hayden’s story! They had instant attraction and amazing chemistry. The storyline was great and the characters were relatable. With all the emotions, drama, tension, desire and romance you gets fantastic story! I was rooting for them throughout the whole story. I enjoyed this book. Anabelle was a character that I think a lot of readers will relate to, either because of her family situation or her feelings about life. I liked her. She was real, complex and relatable. I also liked Hayden. He's a man that has some big regrets and a whole lot of burned bridges to try to rebuild. Again, there is a lot to relate to. The sparks of chemistry really sizzle and the attraction is powerful from the very first meeting between the main characters and it only gets mo ...more

On The Rocks is book # 3 in the "Love After Midnight" series by Elise Faber. This is Annabelle and Hayden’s story. Their story really has the feels , heartbreak, drama, and rollercoaster ride of emotions. I enjoyed the plot, and characters. I do think Hayden’s missing 10 was a bit off and odd. Otherwise, good story!

I love this series. The books just keep getting better with each one. I read this one in a day because I just couldn't put this one down. With the bombshell we were give in the previous book I couldn't wait to dive into this book. I loved Hayden and Annabelle. Annabelle just grabs at your heart with her backstory. Hayden is just so perfect for her. He is someone you're happy is in her corner. It made my heart happy to see Hayden doing little things for Annabelle because their impact was huge. Ha ...more

On the Rocks, book three in the new Love after Midnight series follows Bobby’s bartender Anabelle Kim, and recently returned Hayden McAlister. Anabelle has always been the black sheep of her own family, so when the Bobby’s group welcome her into their “family” everything seems to be finally coming together for Ana until she meets a handsome stranger, who turns out to be a long lost brother to Brooke. When Hayden comes back from the dead ten years later, his twin sister Brooke, and best friend Br ...more

Hayden turns up shocking his best friend and sister who buried him 10 year previously.
There has to be a good story for faking your own death and I would’ve liked a more in-depth sight into the story behind this and maybe some glimpses of the work he did.

Oh hey Elise Faber! Thank you for knocking my socks off again! To be honest there aren’t a lot of authors who are afraid to write about heartbreaking issues, but Elise can do just that. She will break your heart into a thousand tiny little pieces, and then carefully put them all back together. Annabelle, and Hayden’s journey is a daunting one, but it’s also amazing. One thing I loved is Annabelle’s own little family that she had chosen for herself because they had her back no matter what. Absolu ...more

He knew coming back wasn’t going to be easy. What he didn’t know is that it would be the healing for not only him but for his sister’s best friend ~ Anabelle.
Both filled with guilt neither expecting to find happiness in another this book is not only a lesson in forgiveness but a lesson on how to let one in. How to let happiness embrace you. How to look towards the future and let go of the past.

This is the first book I've read in this series. I liked the characters, but didn't feel like I really knew them. There are complexities to both Hayden's and Anabelle's personalities that were briefly touched on, but not enough to validate their behaviors, in my opinion. I will probably go and read the first two books to see if I get more of their background and maybe understand them a little more. Overall, I liked the writing and the story was paced very well. Despite the issues with character ...more

Really enjoyed this book. I love the way Elise Faber writes, I have read quite a few of her books... like all of them. This series is really good, I love the family that is built from the bar employees, let's not forget all of the men are hot and hunky!!! The only thing that I didn't like was how quickly everyone forgave Hayden. I understand the timeline in a book, but he could have groveled a bit more ;). But in the end, this book was perfect with all of the feels that one looks for in a book!

Since I've only read this one book from the series, my review can only be on my enjoyment of this story. I got off to a rocky start (sorry!) Being introduced to 5 characters immediately I found it a little difficult to sort out which characters formed the couples. You're given a really quick intro but I ended up spending way more time trying to figure that out than I wanted. My first impressions of Hayden were not positive. I thought him a self-involved, arrogant jerk who expected to be welcomed ...more

LOVE this story. Hayden returns to his family after 10 years of being presumed dead. There within his little group of family and friends her meets Annabelle. Surly and prickly and altogether not interested. Yet he knows it is worth breaking down her defenses, he can feel it. And that is what he does. Sweet romance about taking a chance both in trusting another and coming to love them! Great read

This is my favorite of the Love After Midnight books so far, not because I didn't like the others but because I so enjoyed watching Annabelle and Hayden develop their relationship! Not exactly insta-love (well, maybe for Hayden) this story was two people that felt an attraction but let their insecurities and past fears get in their way. As a result of Hayden's persistence, he and Annabelle were able to form a friendship with a side of longing from both that kept it engaging.

Enjoyed!

I loved this book! This is quick read that I was completely engrossed in. I love the depth emotions we got in this story a s how complex the characters were for such a low angst romance.

The heroine was cold n callous.. I didn't appreciate her moseying into a personal matter of someone she had never met n acting as if she had the right to be there n being so rude... DNF..
