Kate Reilly is having a bad month

She's on trial for murders she didn't commit. She's next on the list of a serial killer. The parasitic vampires known as the Thrall want her to investigate the murder of their young, and will use any means necessary to force her to bow to their demands.

And--possibly worst of all--her boyfriend Tom's werewolf pack is trying to break them up so Tom can mate with a werewolf to ensure the survival of his pack.

Now Kate must fight for Tom--and fight for her very survival in this brand new paranormal romance from the unbeatable, bestselling team of C. T. Adams and Cathy Clamp.

I find it amusing that they mention the trial in the book description because I feel like it took up so pitifully little of the book. And it's the same thing again (ie I see this a lot in my reading) where instead of being smart and fighting PR with PR, the character moronically just sits around on their ass and lets the public form its own uninformed opinion while the "bad guys" are totally that PR pony like the, uh, pony it is.

Seriously people, I'm an introvert and I know this shit. Get your act together.

Instead it was a lot of chaos and running around the country and I feel a little like the Cat Adams team was struggling to find a villain in all this, which is pretty sad because their world is neat enough that it shouldn't feel so hard.

Still dark, Kate is suppose to be 'Not Prey' but that doesn't stop the crazy Thrall from going after her. She's tough, Catholic girl, trying to cope with her blossoming relationship with Tom, her crazy angry brother and her other brother who was termed zombie after a taking bad drugs. Really engrossing storyline. I read it straight through.

I didn’t think I would like these books.
I usually don’t read horror but I would definitely classify these as horror/romance?.
This book was way better than the first and I couldn’t put it down today. Definitely reading the last book when I get it.

Vacation book. Because this is a sequel, it took a few chapters to understand. Once I got what was happening, the book moved quickly. A different kind of paranormal book.

I found this to be as entertaining as the first book, happy that Kate finally got together with Tom and the way in which she overcame her "enemy" this time was well played.

Others have said the ending was a bit rushed and it was sort of for me as well but since there was a joyous surprise for Kate it was still satisfying.

My hope is that in the last book of the trilogy, Touch of Darkness, Kate and Tom are allowed their happiness and that she and her brothers Joe and Bryan reconnect as a family unit.

I quite liked this book. I'd read the first book a few years ago but never got to the second or third.
I love Kate as the heroine and that there are books out there with heroines in all shapes & sizes -- Kate being a 6' tall, former pro-volleyball player.
I love her relationships (familial, friendships and romantic) and I'd love to learn more about Carlton and what she saw when she helped connect the hatchlings to him, creating a new hive.
And though she had multiple people after her, it wasn't difficult to keep them separated, though the last "bad guy" was an unknown until the end.
I'm a fan!

Touch of Madness is the sequel to Touch of Evil in the Thrall series by C.T. Adams & Cathy Clamp. I liked this book I didn't like it as much of Touch of Evil but it was really good follow up to the first book in the series. Touch of Madness followed Kate Reilly and her boyfriend Tom along with her brother and other characters. I thought Kate was kind of annoying at parts in this book, but not a lot just in some parts, but I still like her character and as well as a lot of the others in the book.

Ok, so I'm not sorry that I decided to continue reading this series. Still not good enough to rank as one of my favourites, but not bad either. The romance portion of the plot started out abominably cliché in the first book, using that dreaded word (that I've come to loathe), "luscious" on a couple of occasions. This 2nd book didn't repeat that crime, which raised its quality in my mind, lol. I have to admit, I'm liking the different take on the age-old (and sometimes overdone) vampire storyline that this series offers.

I love when a book picks up right where the first one left off and doesn't repeat entire scenes or too much background from the first book. The story takes place in Denver, and is all about the city. I lived right where they are and I absolutely love The Spaghetti Factory, and the descriptions put me right back there. Speer Blvd. too. Love that about this book. The renegade Thrall are creepy and the werewolf pack is growing.

A great read. Kate has so much happening at the moment there are problems with her boyfriend Tom as his werewolf pack want him to find a mate within the clan. The Thrall- vampires want her to find out who killed their young and they want answers. She is trying to get off a murder charge and she needs to save her relationship with Tom. But is going to save her?

Better then the first book, Katie is still in the middle between the vamps and the wolves but there are new enemies after Katie and her family and friends. But there is good news for her baby brother.

I actually give this 3.6 stars. It was not as good as the first book. The romance was a little too dysfunctional, and the family dynamic was the same. Also, the ending seemed a bit off. Somehow, things didn't go in a logical order.

The storyline was not to my taste. I'm not a big fan of vampires, but I opted to give it a shot anyway.

I liked this one better than the first in the series. I was finding myself done with the book before I knew it. On the last book of the series now.
