Look, I didn't go out of my way to sleep with my next-door neighbor.
It just happened.

On the counter. Over the counter. Probably under it, too, if we hadn't moved it to the bedroom.

But take it from me: a one night stand with your neighbor?
It's not all it's cracked up to be...

The One Night Stand Next Door is a short, flirty, and dirty prequel to The Girl Next Door. You don't have to read it before you dive in to The Girl Next Door, but why wouldn't you?

I’m so excited for the girl next door. This is the one night story that changed everything. It’s fun, heated and has me desperately waiting for the main book. I already love the characters. They have great banter and the chemistry is hot.

One birthday party.

Too many drink.

A lot of memories to reminisce about.

Are you ready!

This is a free short story which will leave you wanting more. It’s just one night in a story that’s about to get complicated.

Sexy tease

Such a sexy tease of a story! This short and not-so-sweet prequel will take you less than an hour to read, but it sets up the story perfectly. Hart gives us a feel for this couple and how things were supposed to go between them... before life gets in the way. It's light, very steamy, and at just 40 pages in length, it doesn't waste any time getting right into the action.

The story introduces Ivy and Kai, neighbors who have been flirty but have never crossed the line into more. While Ivy acknowledges that Kai is sexy, she also knows that sleeping with your neighbor is a terrible idea (just think of the morning after), so she's never seriously entertained the idea. When they share one alcohol-fueled night together, that all changes. But actions have consequences, and their one night soon turns into something else entirely.

I always enjoy Hart's light and sexy rom coms, but I wasn't completely sold on the premise of The Girl Next Door prior to reading this. It does a great job giving the readers a feel for how the full-length love story will play out, what the characters' personalities are like, and the dynamics between them. While I do still have a few hesitations about the story - faking a relationship with a guy who has already knocked you up sounds all kinds of complicated - I have a better handle on what the story will bring. For that reason, I think this is the perfect addition to the story and a great way to see if the book is for you.

I was going to start The Girl Next Door, but I decided to start with this one mainly because it was free on amazon. As most prequels, it is very short, but I liked it. And I loved both Kai and Ivy ❤️

This is the prequel to The Girl Next Door. Read this first if you're planning to dive into the book. In my opinion, it's way better this way.

What a delightful and delicious treat that Emma Hart surprised her readers with! The One-Night Stand Next Door is the short and sexy prequel to her upcoming release, The Girl Next Door. While this is probably one of the shortest reviews that I’ve written in all the years I’ve been writing book reviews, I can tell you without a doubt that this short little prequel is definitely worth checking out.

The One-Night Stand Next Door introduces us to Kai and Ivy and gives us a little taste as to what’s to come. From this small introduction, I can tell you that Kai and Ivy have amazing chemistry and I loved their banter. Their short story was sexy as ever and I can not wait to get my hands on the continuation of their story!

The baby is short, sweet and has me making all kinds of grabby hands at The Girl Next Door. I want more of Ivy and Kai. I want to hang out with most of the crew in the building Ivy and Kai live in and I definitely NEED to meet Ivy’s grandmother…

So, yeah.

I need The Girl Next Door like...yesterday~

The One Night Stand Next Door
The Girl Next Door, Prequel

I Picked Up This Book Because: The blurb sucked me in.

The Characters:

Ivy:
Kai Conners:

The Story:

This is a cute quickie. Neighbors that have an attraction give in to it in a tequila induced haze. This was a great prequel. I’m ready for the full story to be out. Kai and Ivy have tons of chemistry and some funny neighbors.

Short and cute

This was a short and cute read. The title says it all, girl next door and one night stand. Not much backstory but enough to get a nice dip of the series.

Ohhh man does Emma Hart know how to get that pulse racing! The One Night Stand Next Door might be a short little prequel for her upcoming full length novel, The Girl Next Door, but it packs a hell of a punch to the groin! TONSND introduces us to Kai and Ivy. Two equally attractive neighbors in a fun pensioners party zone. I couldn't help but eat up these charming characters with the fun and firty banter. This story got me very excited (for my husband) and for The Girl Next Door release! There's going to be so much senior fun that I'm giddy for the laughter already!!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

Ivy may be attracted to her neighbor Kai but acting on those feelings and dealing with the subsequent awkwardness they would feel every time they saw each other again makes it a line she isn’t prepared to cross.

A resident’s birthday party, a few tequila shots too many and Kai’s powers of persuasion leads to a steamy night that they won’t ever be able to forget.

The humorous and heated interactions between Ivy and Kai leave us wanting more of their story. Let the fun begin!

The One Night Stand Next Door is an introduction to Kai and Ivy, who will have a full length book late one this month. It's a short story that can easily be read in one sitting, but it provides a good introduction to the neighbors, as well as the other quirky characters that live in their apartment building. It was a light, fun read, and I'm looking forward to reading what happens next with Kai and Ivy.

This was a really fun little novella that has left me really looking forward to the main novel, The Girl Next Door, which is releasing later this month. The characters were fun and likeable with easy banter. Recommend, looking forward to more.

So this is the prequel for The Girl Next Door. First off, just know that it is FREE!!! While you don’t have to read it first, since it is free, why not go ahead and just go download it now so you can? But just like with my review above, this was the exact type of humor and romance that I expect from an Emma Hart story, and so I will highly recommend it as well! You get to meet Ivy and Kai, and fall in love with both, as well as their colorful neighbors and even Ivy’s best friend Tori who we meet through texts.

A few too many tequilas and your hot next door neighbour? Yep, that sounds like the perfect recipe for a one-night stand!

Ivy is not really a party person, despite attending now three parties in her apartment building. Pensioners can be pretty persuasive it seems, and they certainly know how to out-party a 26-year-old. The only other person under 35 at the party, or in the building for that matter, is her gorgeous next door neighbour Kai, who's she's had one too many dirty dreams about than she cares to admit. With the tequila flowing, and the lowkey flirting that has been going on for months now, it's not surprising that the evening sees them end up back in Ivy's apartment, clothes strewn everywhere. Just one night is harmless... right?

I didn't know whether to read this before or after The Girl Next Door, but since it is the prequel, I thought it only sensible to read it first and I'm so glad I did! It was the PERFECT set up to the actual book (which I'm currently reading as I write this review).

At only 41 pages long, this swoon-worthy and steamy AF teaser gives you a great introduction to Ivy and Kai's relationship, as well as the dynamics of the apartment building they live in and Ivy's kooky grandmother. And really, there's nothing like a little kitchen counter sex to really get you invested in a fictional couple and reaching for the next book the second you turn the final page.

If you're planning to read The Girl Next Door, make sure you pick this prequel up first. While you could totally read it afterwards, it really hooks you into Ivy and Kai's story if you read it first. New adult romance fans, this is definitely a book(s) you need to add to your TBR, like right now!

At 37 pages I’m not sure if this is a short story or a novelette, but have rated it on my short story scale. This book is the teaser for a longer book - The Girl Next Door.

I was looking for something fluffy, and I kinda got that. I was thinking of giving 4 stars, but cut it back to 3 because I don’t like many of the implications of the story. Two adjacent apartment dwellers; young woman does not want a relationship with hunk next door because they are neighbours. There’s an apartment party on the roof, lots of drinking including multiple shots. Young woman leaves, pursued by hunk. I’ll leave the rest to you. Or you can read the About this Book.

Throughout the story, there’s lots of banter which is at times humorous. But there’s no seduction. At the party, the hunk plies the woman with alcohol. He doesn’t force her in any way, but he’s pushy. It’s mostly fun, but I rail against the social implications of a guy who’s repeatedly told “no” yet succeeds through alcohol. I guess I’m turning into an old fart. I’d rather read some straight up cheating than appearing to accept/condone sex through alcohol, or any drug, or when someone is vulnerable, no matter how “good” it is.

So 3 Stars.

This prequel can be read in an hour or less. It offers some background into Kai and Ivy's "predicament", as well as how these two neighbors fell into bed. It's clear from this one night between them, that Kai has been wanting Ivy for quite a while. I think Ivy pushes him away because she's unwilling to even consider him as something serious. After the events of their night together, we will have to see how her feelings change.

Overall, I think this is a nice addition to reading the Girl Next Door. However, it didn't wow me or pull me into the future story very much. I didn't warm to Ivy in these few chapters or see the chemistry between them. Let's see how things go!

Anytime I see that Emma Hart is about to release a book or there is a new book released I get super excited because I am so in love with her work. She is such a witty person and her books are always a reflection of herself. She always knows what to write and to give her readers, I know every time I read one of her books I just end up laughing and enjoy the story because they are really captivating and catchy. Yet again, Emma has done a great job with this book and even though this is a short book, it’s well worth the read. I loved how witty Ivy is, she’s such an intriguing character and I love how she’s determined to not just jump straight into things even though her best friend thinks differently. I honestly couldn’t fault this book, it literally has everything you could ask for, including all the juicy stuff…. Things heat up quite a bit in this book, but it’s well worth it.
I’m really excited to read the next book as I was really interested in seeing how things play out between Ivy and Kai…
Honestly, this is the perfect book to give a quick read when you’re in between books, so I would recommend trying it out as Emma is honestly super talented.

The last thing that Ivy wants to do is go to another party for one of the residents of the building, she’s not the typical party girl when it comes to socialising with the neighbours, but she can’t help but say yes to going to the parties. If she had her choice she would be going out with her best friend in a club/ bar, but that doesn’t seem to be on the agenda.
She’s had an eyeful of her hot neighbour Kia, but she knows it would be a bad idea if she went ahead and jumped him… But her best friend keeps encouraging her to just take the leap and sleep with him…. What will a night of tequila endure for the both of them???

Ivy really doesn’t want to go to the party tonight. Her neighbors drink like fish, even if they’re all older than dirt. We’re not talking about a quiet night of Scrabble or even a rousing game of Charades. We’re talking about tequila shots on the roof. Ivy doesn’t even care that hottie neighbor Kai will be there. But when Kai offers to pay for her dinner, well, a girls gotta eat, right?
Many many tequila shots later, Kai and Ivy head back to Ivy’s place. The next morning though, Ivy’s having to bleach her countertop. Good thing they moved to the bedroom after that round. What would her grandma think??
What a great tease, and I’m not talking about Ivy or Kai. Ms. Hart has written a witty, sexy prequel and now has me begging for Girl Next Door. If you love witty, snarky, guy next door romance, check out One Night Stand Next Door. You’ll be the person behind me in line waiting impatiently for Ivy and Kai’s full story.

The prologue/back story for book one of this series. Written over 5 chapters or so, this short story explores the one night stand the H/h have, which leads into the main novel. It's nicely written, humourous in parts and contains some very steamy sex scenes.

Definitely was a good read and will leave you curious

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2020...

..few spoilers are thrown around...

I’m glad that I got a chance to read this book before “The Girl Next Door” comes out July 21st. Now that’s one book I can’t wait to come out. Because after reading this now I am more than curious than I was before.

I mean mistakes happen; especially when you are in the moment. I mean it’s both their faults lol even if she did may forget to take her birth control pill lol. Like who knows; but I know one thing for sure. Kai more than likes her and going to be a father to her kid and going to want to date her to more than date her “marriage” even if it’s fake. Which more likely going to turn into something real.

I know that Amanda with the twin boys about to be mad as a cucumber about Kai and Ivy having a baby On the way to getting married even if it was fake in the being... plus Vincent going to be happy for them.

Also; can’t wait until Ivy grandmother finds out. Because I am curious about that lady and her thoughts on things. Plus; her friend Tori (Ivy’s) friend I bet she going to either laugh or say I told you so or just both. She’s also a person I am curious about and what she’ll think of Ivy and Kai one nightstand...

Those old people ragers

Fast. Funny. Flirty. This book was everything a "one night stand" should consist of. I've heard about crazy old people parties, they go all night. I think it's more of a 3.5 🌟, the chemistry is hot but there isn't much else to it. I'm hoping the full novel is this way with much more to it. But I'm already disappointed, it was supposed to be released the 21st according to the book, but Amazon has it the 28th.
