Sheena ☆ Oh, the Sheenanigans!

Rochelle, Natasha’s older sister, is missing and when her vehicle is found abandoned on the edge of a local nature preserve, Natasha’s loss turns to burning anger (that is just about borderline psychotic) when the case goes cold. She takes it upon herself to play detective (cue the eyeroll people) and appears at the door of Della, a witch whose family has channeled magic from the Bend for generations, providing spells for the desperate and vengeful. Unbeknownst to Natasha,

The River Has Teeth by Erica Waters is a dark Southern Gothic story that wraps up mystery, horror, and magic in a nice little bundle. The story follows both Natasha and Della. Natasha's sister, Rochelle, has gone missing, and Natasha has her suspicions as to who might be the reason her sister went missing. But in order to prove her accusations are true, she turns to Della, a rumored witch with a fam

This book is about nature, witches, sisters and monsters. What else would anyone need for a great story?

The story revolves around Natasha and Della. Two really different girl, who share that they are willing to do anything for their family. Natasha's disappeared sister's car was found abandoned next to the forest. What was she doing? Where did she go? Will Natasha get answers?

Della has a great burden to live with. She believes that she knows the person who is responsible for the girls disappear

I loved this! It had the Southern Gothic backdrop with magic and mystery interwoven, and the setting was perfect. It was dark, mysterious, and full of magic. The river carved its way into being its own character, and the forest wasn't too far behind in making itself into its own character. The characters were great, too! Natasha's drive to discover what happened to her missing sister led her to meeting Della, who is trying to hold her family together and protect the world from the monster she fe ...more

Atmospheric and tense, each scene lush and visual, THE RIVER HAS TEETH is a mystery with its roots in family legacy and loyalty. With its witches, monsters, and missing girls, the story unfurls in stunning prose, each character fully realized and complex. The family magic is fascinating and roots the story in its setting. A love letter to the earthbound magic of the rural South and to angry, unruly queer girls, THE RIVER HAS TEETH is a hypnotic, suspenseful read perfect for fans of horror, South

I received a copy of this book directly from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The River Has Teeth by Erica Waters is a chilling mix of Young Adult Romance, Mystery, and Horror. The story feels as if it's wrapped in a cloak of dark, eerie stillness - much like the nature preserve much of the story takes place in. There's an underlying grittiness, like a raw wound, as you read… the atmosphere of it is chilling. The characters, particularly Della, are well written and believabl

I absolutely loved Waters' Ghost Wood Song, so I was thrilled to snag and early copy of The River Has Teeth.

River does not disappoint. Atmosphere oozes through every page, with lush description and gorgeous prose. It's cinematic and immersive, and the setting acts as another character throughout the story.

I loved both main characters, who felt like real and developed people, and their conflicting goals throughout large parts of the book made for excellent tension and a fast-paced plot. And the f

Natasha’s sister has gone missing and she is desperate to find her and very very angry at everyone. Della and her family are witches and she tries to help Natasha while keeping some major secrets.

Funny that I read The River Has Teeth immediately after finishing Girl One when they have so much in common—missing mothers, a bit of magic, a budding romance between the main characters. I like

The cover is splendid. It's an owl shrouding the letters with its wing. Below it is a moth. The inner margins of the hind wings are dotted by five smaller moths. Following the line of bilateral symmetry along the thorax and abdomen, there's a moon in a sharp waning crescent. A moth is an owl's natural prey.

One girl fueled by rage. Another by magic.

Okay, now I officially have to survive 2021

Thank you to Edelweiss for the ARC. The River has Teeth is a well written, well paced novel of angry feminism. Very much about the dastardliness of men and their insults against women, main characters Natasha and Della never back down from a fight with any man. The river of the title and its land is a character unto itself; dark, twisty and full of secrets. Della, and then Natasha, bend the magic of the river to their will and with their anger triumph.
