I can see why the book is called a masterpiece by a professional reviewer. So much excellent action. Heartbreaking romance. Following the previous two books in the saga, this one closes with a magnificent ending; unexpected, but so appropriate. Plot twists, historically accurate with actual quotes from famous people - from Confederate generals to General Grant and Abraham Lincoln A glorious ride that appeals to readers of historical fiction and of just plain solid literature.
If you love History, if you love the Civil War era, you will love this 3rd book of Mr Locklear’s series! You will Be caught up In the story for hours! Curt Locklear’s research into time and place work to make his books believable and authentic! Loved this entire series. I look forward to another!
After reading the full trilogy I feel like I have a more rounded understanding of the civil war. Kind of hard to say goodbye to all the characters I have gotten to know. I found myself wondering if and how some of their paths might cross again.
I was interested to learn about the fighting in the West during the civil war. The romance seemed a bit ungrounded and there were too many storylines. Some that were never finished.
