Foxes make terrible pets but they’re fantastic wingmen.

Sydney Young has dedicated her life to animals. She’s a wildlife rehabilitator on call around the clock for rescue missions all over the state and every last one of her friends are veterinarians. Waiting at home for her is a rambunctious fox too tame to be released.

Syd’s life is full and happy… or so she thinks until a new and exotic creature moves in next door.

Adelaide Mercer is single-minded too – all her time and energy goes into her young son, Liam, making sure he’s happy in their new home. She’s fiercely protective and guarded, keeping to herself despite her curiosity about the elusive neighbor with the fox pen in her back yard.

Syd and Addie observe each other from a distance until one day Liam springs the fox from its pen. The wild fox chase that follows is only the beginning of a great adventure in life, love and rescued hearts.

These are just light lovely romances with little angst and there to make you feel good.
They are like a good dessert, sweet and satisfying.

I loved this addition to the series and already look forward to the next! I liked the short references to couples from previous books of Cara Malone's in the lovely lesbian-friendly small town with supportive community and no drama.

Sydney and Adelaide were hot together and sparks flew from the moment the met. But Addie was reticent about a relationship since she was responsible for her 8 year old son Liam and had just got out of a relationship with a woman who never put them first.

Syd is a caring vet working for a rescue devoting her life to animals and rehabilitation. She realises something was missing when she sees the beautiful Addie and precocious Liam. Family.

They get to know eachother as friends and neighbours with the help of the frenetic Fennec Fox, Sonic who Syd adopts. But then something more.

They bring the heat in their love scenes and I needed a cold shower myself afterwards. Lol.

A joyous HEA awaits you in this kindle unlimited read.

Great sequel!

She always puts the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center first. It's not just her work but also her whole life. That is, until she sees her for the first time. There is an instant connection. There is only one problem, she comes with a package. Addie did move to this small town for a fresh start and falling in love wasn't part of her plan. Is she ready for what this, between them might mean? Foxy Lady is a beautiful story, well written with an adorable Fennec Fox with a vibrant personality and a cute little boy. A story that will warm your heart in all the right ways. Looking forward to more in this series.

I've been reading a lot of dark fantasy and paranomal books lately so this was definitely a very sweet getaway from that genre. I especially like the shout out to two of Australia's cities in Sydney and Adelaide.

I normally enjoy Cara Malone’s books, but this one is probably my favorite...an adorable fox is a truly memorable pet. The romance was excellent, too.

Adorable
Syd is a wildlife rehab vet who works a lot and doesn’t feel the need to make the time for much else. When she rescues a fennec fox her life will change more than she realizes. Unable to rehome him she decides to take him, knowing it will be a HUGE responsibility. Addie and her son, Liam, are new to town. When they see an enclosure being built at the house behind theirs Liam hopes it will be for a bear. When Addie and Syd meet, the connection is strong but Addie is afraid to risk her and Liam’s hearts again but Syd doesn’t plan to go anywhere…Until her job might mean having to move four hours away….

This is a sweet, sexy, fun filled romp that has all the feels and smiles a romance junkie could want. I loved Syd and Addie, they are a great couple and, one of the best parts, for me anyway, is that Addie is beautiful, plump and curvy… YUMMY! I get tired of all the women who have model bodies so this is a nice change. Sonic, the fox, is a great character all on his own. He is a delightful handful. Ms Malone gives us an insight into what it takes to keep one of these guys in captivity and shows why they don’t make good pets in spite of how cute they are. I also loved seeing Jules and Parker from Lucky in Love, book one of the Fur-ever Veterinary Romance series. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the story and REALLY hope there will be more to come in the series! Maybe one featuring the intriguing vet who takes care of Barney the barn owl…. A woman can hope anyway! If you are looking for a light hearted tender romance without a ton of drama and angst, this is the perfect book for you!

I got an ARC in exchange for an honest review. It has a teeny tiny spoiler in the second to last paragraph, so if that bothers you, skip it.

This is the seventh book I’ve read from Malone, and I’m really happy to say that she did not disappoint. I absolutely loved the Rulebook series (only the first two, I have the third on my waiting list), and although I didn’t like the Sapphic Fairy Tales series as much, this one nearly tops the Rulebook. And, now that we’re being honest, it doesn’t make #1 because I identify so much with Max, I relate so much with her, that she just cannot be dethroned.

This being said, let’s get on to the actual review: while I’m aware that, officially, my punctuation is of 4 stars, my actual punctuation is of 4.5. Yes, almost five, which is really rare for me. The punctuation is so high not only because of the completely adorable pet and son but because the characters are so relatable. Addie is portrayed as slightly chubby, which is not a bad thing, but not something usually found in books. The characters are always gorgeous, lean, thin; or petite and cute. Having characters that don’t have “perfect bodies” makes the book more real, more close to you.

They also have jobs that aren’t always portrayed, so that gives it the mysterious factor, while at the same time not making it too fantastic, including real-life problems and complications these jobs have.

Finally, the plot: it managed to be completely different while staying on the topic, if that makes sense. I’ve found that usually, in lesbian romance novels at least, there’s almost always a part in the book where they fight/have a misunderstanding/want to make what’s best for the other, and spend the following chapters broken up and miserable. This doesn’t happen here, so it’s really refreshing.

Well, that’s it. A big thanks to Malone for giving us this lovable read, and if any of you readers have a question about my review (I’m aware that I don’t always explain myself well 😅) don’t hesitate to ask.

Book 2 in the Fur-ever Vet Romance Series with intermingling characters but each book stands alone. Sydney (Syd) and Adelaide (Addie) feature along with Addie's son Liam and Sonic the fennec fox. The author's description of Syd and Addie's first meeting and the subsequent chaos added to the charm of the plot and kept me reading through the night to the end. The slow burn, hiccup filled romance is heart warming with bits of humour, angst, the right amount of sex and descriptions of daily living that were very believable. Of course we also learned along the way how to care for a fennec fox. With Sonic and Liam's manipulation Syd and Addie are destined for a HEA. Kudos Ms. Malone, I look forward to more in the series and highly recommend with 5 wonderful stars.

A delightful love story to warm your heart.

Syd is a gorgeous vet at WOW the wildlife rescue center in Ohio. Maddie and her son Liam are new to Camden and the backyard neighbor. Syd brings home a rescued fenbec fox that she adopts. Liam and Sonic become fast friends and an escaping fox brings them all together.
This is a must read love story that is full of cuteness. Sonic brings the main characters together but the instant attraction make for one hot sexy romance. Liam is precocious young boy who keeps everything lively. This a great friends to lovers story with great family love potential. I enjoyed the banter they shared and the fox often steels the moment! You will love this book.

Typical single mother meets woman; lots of negotiating treats with the kid, first date coincides with kid going to new friend’s birthday party, first sex also coincides with kid’s first sleepover, love me love my kid abounds.

Low-angst, very domestic and standard formula. The animal rescue and pet fennec fox added an interesting slant that I appreciate. This book is set in one of those lesfic towns where everyone is gay and best friends with each other who make cameos in each other’s books.

Some spoilers and me being picky….

The sex scenes were okay, a lot of “folds” and “core”. Of course there was no talk of safety (I don’t even expect it at this point) but the first time had zero hygiene!! They were outside playing in a public park and then touching an animal, and then they were all up in each other’s business and nobody even washed their hands once! And WHY do they always drop used sex toys on the floor and just leave them there? (There was zero prep or hygiene there too).

Also, there was a scene that could have been hot (window as a mirror) but the action hit a wall as we are presented with an explanation of a) why the window has no curtains and b) why it is okay for them to be nekked in front of it. When these explanations are forced into the narrative, I always feel like it’s going to end up being a major plot point later (spoiler: it wasn’t).

So that kind of took away from the enjoyment and lowered my rating of it.

End spoiler!

I have a feeling that in one of the following books in this loose series we’ll see a married Abbie with a second bun in the oven as is the way with these things now that the romance story is done (I guess bonus for their wedding being included in the romance plot of the future book couple).

Overall, not earth shattering but a safe read with low angst, lots of kid/family/pet moments, a couple different sex scenes that are explicit enough but fairly standard (unfortunately) and a decent ending.

My rating: three stars

Super cute and sexy story with an adorable fennec Fox as a matchmaker. She doesn't think she as enough time for a girlfriend much less an over active little fox. Leave it to Sonic to bring Addie and Liam into her life and show her would a full life she could have. I love all the interesting information about the animals that Cara puts into the stories in this series. The romance is off the charts. The story will make you smile and warm all over.

This is book two of the Fur-ever Veterinary Romance series and it is a very sweet story.

Sydney Young is a very dedicated veterinary; she simply loves animals and will do anything to keep them safe. She’s a wildlife rehabilitator, she loves her job and her life, and she even has an adorable fennec fox waiting for her at home. She couldn’t ask for more…that is until she met the most beautiful vision in the form of her Neighbour. Adelaide Mercer moved her life and her son’s after a failed relationship, there’s nothing more for her than her son’s happiness. The new town looks promising and her allusive neighbour with the fox pen a mystery she’d love to meet. What happens when Liam, Adelaide’s son is curious about the fox and let him out and this escapes? As all three go in the search, will they rescue more than the fox as well as their hearts?

Book 2 of the series and continues being a wonderful read. We met Sydney in book one, it was just a glimpse but an introduction to the character. One thing I like about Cara Malone is her ability to tell the story and keep us enthralled from beginning to end. Another thing I have enjoyed very much about this series is that they are mostly feel-good kind of books, just a little bit of conflict or trouble and more onto the development of the story and the growing chemistry of the characters. It's a good balance when you want something sweet that leaves you with a happy feeling. And who doesn't want to feel happy right?

The characters are simply wonderful. A dedicated, heart-warming and caring vet, a single mum who will do anything for her kid's happiness, a smart kind kid who loves animals, to learn and just live life happily, and of course an adorable Houdini fennec fox that just makes their lives more interesting. We couldn't ask for more. I enjoyed greatly reading about their story and how they were intertwining little by little.

I was hooked up from the moment I started to read and as I continued it just kept me more enthralled. It's a beautiful love story with wonderful characters as well as a fury lovely companion.
If a sweet romance with great emphasis on sweet and a happy feeling is your thing, this is definitely the book for you.

Can be read as a stand-alone, make reference to the characters of book 1, but nothing big so there's no need to read it first, although I'd like to highly recommend you do. These two books are just too cute to let them go. I am definitely looking for the next one in the series.

In conclusion, this is a very sweet romance with lovable characters and one adorable fennec fox.

I received an ARC copy of the book from the author and voluntarily leaving my review.

4.5/5

This is a good story. It’s a sweet story without much angst and it makes for a perfect read if you’re feeling a bit stressed or just want to curl up with something that you know will end happily.
That being said, my biggest issue with this book is the length. It’s not a long read and I wish it were longer. I just wish there were more time to develop the two characters and their relationship. It works at its current length, but it could be better.
I loved the characters. Syd and Addie are neighbors, and they begin interacting when Sonic, Syd’s new pet fennec fox, is brought home. The two of them are likeable, both together and separately. There is some minor angst, but it’s handled quickly. During that time, you understand why each character is willing to do what they are in order to continue to be together. Liam is also a very enjoyable character and it’s impressive to me how much the kid felt like an 8-year-old. Cara Malone did a good job integrating the child character.
It was also nice to get some more information about the other characters in the Fur-Ever Veterinary Series. Jules and Parker from the first book make an appearance but so does Marley, Dani, and Kiran from later books in the series. I was also pleasantly surprised to see Hannah and Avery appear from Malone’s Fixer Upper book.
This book is a pleasant read. If you just want to spend a couple hours curled up with a cute book and likeable characters, go for it. However, you likely won't want a pet fox after reading about Sonic and the trouble he gets into.

I just plain love Cara Malone's writing. It flows seamlessly from character to character and scene to scene, and she seems to have a special way of bringing these animals to life besides giving me so much info I never knew about these animals. Just as in Lucky in Love with the bunnies, you will find yourself giggling over the fennec fox, Sonic. Oh the mischief that ensues!

Syd is a wildlife rehab veterinarian and Addie, with her eight year old son, Liam, just moved into the house behind her. When Syd starts building a special enclosure on the back of her house for Sonic, well Addie and Liam just have to check it out. As their fingers connect through the fence, in order to pet Sonic, their personal journeys begin.

Addie and Syd are engaging as a couple and Syd's newfound relationship with Addie's son is just wonderful. I fell in love with young Liam, with his inquisitive mind, energetic verbal sharing, and so much joy experiencing all that life has to offer. Add in Sonic and this foursome is perfect!

This tender romance is super cute and should bring a smile to your face and put joy in your heart. Thanks, Cara!

This is a nice and easy low angst series. The community is small town where everyone knows each other and is welcoming and supportive. Sydney Young is a veterinarian working with wildlife rescue and rehab. She ends up adopting a Fennec fox that has been abandoned. While building it a run in her back yard she meets her new neighbors, Adelaide Mercer and her eight year old son Liam. Addie is just out of a five year relationship and her focus is her son. But she does want to be friends and there are lots neighborly dinners and Liam adores playing with Sonic the fox. Syd loves her job but when she might have to relocate she she needs to decide if that is more important than a possible family with Addie. This is a slow friends to more but when it heat up it gets steamy (more so than the first book in the series). I like that the author includes meeting up with Jules and Parker the romance from the first book in the series. And introduces the veterinarian who will be the focus of the next book.

Cara Malone does it again! This book was just wonderful. The characters so quickly made likable and relatable. The surroundings connected to other books making it even more wonderful to already add on to what is such a great setting. The story is just so touching and beautiful. The way life intertwines and things work just seems so precarious sometimes, and Cara Malone just makes it seem like fate will help us all out some. That love really is that powerful. Her characters are some of the best I have read and I will continue to buy and read her books. If you don't know her work, go back and read all that you can on her work and you will see what I mean.

What a cute sequel. This novel continues the theme of the first book with one of the MC's being a Vet that works and dedicates a lot of time at wildlife rehabilitation centre. The other main MC recently moved into town with her 8 year old son. The entire dynamic between the three of them is just great. Very little angst between the couple, and while there was instant attraction between the two MC's it did take a while for them to act on those feelings as one of the MC's is recovering from a broken relationship. I would also be remiss if I did not mention Sonic, the Fox who's adorableness and antics really give the story and extra depth that I loved.

Wonderful!

Sydney and Adelaide first meet when Liam, Addie's son, enters Syd's back yard to check out what animal is in the enclosure there. Sparks fly, but life is complicated by work and the past. Small and large crises arise, threatening their budding relationship. I loved the tie-in to characters in other Cara Malone books, and the fact that they can all be read as stand alone books also. Definitely looking forward to the next book in this "Fur-ever" series! Be sure to check out this author. I'm sure you'll find numerous books for your must read list!

Hot damn.

Sydney is works with wildlife. She rescues a fox, Sonic. Sonic is a handful not meant to live the domestic life. She works hard and is happy but alone.

Adelaide is a single-mom working at the new Amazon fulfillment center in town. Her son Liam becomes fascinated by the neighbor building something in the backyard. Could it be a home for a bear?

As the two develop a friendship, could they be more?

A Run on the Wild Side

Sydney Young is Veternarian wildlife rehabilitation specialist who adopts a Fennec Fox that is too tame to release in the wild. Life is a happy place and she has a new exotic neighbor. Adelaide Mercer, a single mother, of Liam who gets all her attention and love. Then Liam let’s the Fox escape and a wild chase leads to an unlikely friendship. A tenter romance with a bit of heat. Recommend.

I’ve always been a fan of Cara’s writing. This was no exception, I love the interaction between Addie and Syd and with Liam. I couldn’t wait to read this when I finished the first book in the series. The attraction was undeniable and I loved watching it grow and them finally act on it even when they didn’t want to risk their hearts. I can’t wait until the new book comes out

Brilliant

A lovely story about Syd who is a wildlife vet meeting her new neighbour Addie and her son Liam. A fox is involved and the story line moves wonderfully along at a reasonable pace, with no aghast and a feel good ending. I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend.

This book reminds me why I love this genre. HEAs that are impossible are made possible. It makes you feel good to read them, no matter your reason for reading them.

Liam was adorable. It was a very sweet read with Syd and Addie. Very low on drama. This series is wholesome, and I'm loving that about it.
