This story had a lot of potential....It felt rushed to me....in addition, the narration changed which was not only a let down...these narrators insulted the characters in the book with their poor depiction of already established personalities (with the exception of Mel & her son Dylan). Also the female narrator Mari can never get the characters names right...does not matter which book she's narrating, she ALWAYS mispronounce character names.....On a bright note....I noticed Shooter being mentioned a lot in this book....I feel a Shooter book coming on....BUT, PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW A Shooter & Lexi relationship....I Hope they continue to just co-parent. We Need a new love interest for Shooter...perhaps a new up and coming artist.....and our previously established narrators for this series!
3.5 stars This had a lot of potential. I was invested in the ongoing story about things that were revealed in previous books; and I liked the dynamic of Tavious mentoring Mel’s son. However, the characters felt flat compared to previous books for me, and the story elements I was invested in weren’t executed well imo and just kind of fizzled out.
I was waiting on the audio of this book, bc I enjoyed the first 4 books so much with the narrators, I figured I'd just wait. I'm a little glad I did; I say little bc I was looking forward to Jakobi Diem and Wesleigh Siobhan and was disappointed when they weren't the narrators 😢. Yet, I enjoyed Mari and Leon Nixons' narrations.
Now, about this book. I enjoyed it more than I initially expected to. I was not feeling how Tavious acted in the last book, outing the family secret, yet I understood his frustration; hence, why I wasn't sure I'd like the book where he was the lead character. After listening to how he opened up his heart and sought counseling, I fell in strong like with him, just as I did the other Bennett brothers.
I loved that, even fresh from graduating college, he had his business in order, showing his grown man status even though he was still young. The respect he had for his close friends was great as well. Tavious really grew on me in this book.
Now when it comes to Ms. Officer, Tavious' love interest Mel, she's a single mom with an unruly teen whom needs some guidance. Once she gives in to Tavious for a one night stand, she thinks that's it, but when he's picked to be her son's mentor, things get shaky for her. I loved that Mel only wanted the best for her son and pursued her career even after having him at a young age. Her apprehension to go past a cordial relationship with Tavious was noble, yet I'm glad he worked his charm to woo her.
I gained much respect for Tavious when he took on the mentor role for Mel's son, Dillon, even after the summer program ended, bc he wanted Dillon to be better and he saw his potential. This was such a great aspect of this story.
For this to be such a short story, it packed a lot and was very well done. Great way to wrap up the Bennett Brothers. Now, I need to read the update to see just how everyone is doing. Highly recommend this series.
Tavious and Mel was different, I liked them together but I think the highlight of this story was Dylan. I also liked that the book really shows Tavious’ growth and his perspective of how his fathers life impacted him. I loved Mel, she was a mama bear and not a statistic. I was surprised at how a mature Tavious was and the way that he established boundaries with Dylan. There’s something about those Bennett men.. 💕
I’m glad we got a Tavious story but his relationship with Mel felt rushed. What I did like about the story was the focus on mental health and the process of healing from family trauma. Both narrators performed well but their voices didn’t match the age range of the characters. Overall the insight to a family healing and everyone’s growth throughout this series was great.
I wanted this to be a 5 for me because I am in love with the other books in this series, but I kept being confused on the past versus the present. Sometimes books dont do well with giving us that transition in the book. It went fast and it felt like it skipped stuff with them becoming a couple.
This book was good not great. The one before was much better. Honestly, I was much more interested in the subplots about the sins of his father and also his relationship Melinda's son. Their love story was an after thought for me. So a good book.
The last of the Bennett brothers/cousin. Tavious left a sour taste in my mouth from Benji's story when he let out the family secret. But he grew on me when he matured, opened up and got his grown man on. Mel a.k.a. Ms. Officer, is a single mom (I love the single parent trope) of a teenage boy just trying to live her life and provide for her son. What I loved more was Tav's relationship with Mel's son Dylan and the way he mentored him. As for narration, there was a change from Wesleigh & Jakobi to Leon Nixon and Mari. I didn't mind the change and thought both narrators did a good job with the characters and story. Great close to the series but wouldn't mind a novella of "where are they now?"
This one with brother/cousin TAVIOUS BENNETT I just couldn't gain a grasp on, & adding a single mother Melinda with a troubled teen Dylan into the equation didn't draw me any closer to warming up to the book either. Neither did changing the narrators from JAKOBI Diem & Wesleigh Siobhan to Mari & Leon Nixon to tell the story either. I felt that Tavious was TOO immature or young to be involved with a woman who had a teenaged son. The other issue that I felt was a problem was the author seemed to want add WAY TOO MANY SEX SCENES into her book series WHICH CAN & MOST LIKELY DOES TAKE AWAY FROM what's suppose to be the story. Not enough character development with TAVIOUS OR MEL, because the author wanted readers to be MORE INFORMED ABOUT TAVIOUS' SEXUAL ABILITIES THAN WHAT HE & MEL MAY (NO) HAVE HAD IN COMMON WITH ONE ANOTHER, WHICH WAS A TURNOFF FOR THIS READER WHO HAD BEEN INTERESTED IN THE STORY FIRST & FOREMOST.
I was surprised thinking this was going to be a story about all other books bringing them up to date on the lives they were living. I glad Tavious got his story. This was a book I didn’t know I needed but it explained so much. They way he dropped that damn bomb on his family and had to fight his own internal isssue with the way things played out. I’m so glad this story gave that back story to it all and kept it flowing. The love this family had and moved past it all was amazing. With Tavious being the cousin and brother it really made the story real. Not every gmaily can deal with it all and keep going strong. He turns his life around and with the support of gmail and his lady. I’m glad he gets his happy ending. The ending is everything.
Tavious and Melynda, Miss Officer and Her Gentlemen
This was such a beautiful read!!!…I thoroughly enjoyed the healing that is taking place in this family!!!… Sebastian honesty is so refreshing and his apology to Tavi was even better!!!…Benji is the one person that keeps me smiling at every entrance!!!… I was excited to see Tavi and his mother’s relationship on the road to healing and his being able to help another young man to merge on a different journey while loving his mother too!!!…I was glad that the time Tavi and Mel were able to come back together, because their chemistry was unmatched!!!…
I really, really liked Tavious!!!! I loved that his story provided more family context. I had the same questions for his mother about the father. That whole situation is crazy!!! But I'm glad Tav got it all out in the open and really purposed to heal from it. Now that Melynda, she was just perfect for Tavious! Her and Dillon. Their chemistry was off the charts, and I loved how Tavious moved with him. Their relationship was beautiful to see. I loved how this story flowed and I especially loved how it ended. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Bennett Family!
Tavious (Tavi) is a young man just graduating college and starting his new life. Until he meets the one woman that will change his life. Melynda is a mother of a teenage age Son Dillon (Dilly) who is acting out. The Stars aligned for these two to get together and Tavi makes it his business to pursue Melynda. This is a wonderful written story the flow of it is seamless. As always it was an absolute pleasure leaving the Bennett Brothers book.
Finally we get to baby brother Bennett Tavious. I really enjoyed Tavious story because he was really dealing with a lot of complex issues stemming from his past also with a budding romance. I love his and Dillon’s relationship. I like Mel and Tavious together their chemistry was magnetic which led to great spice in the bedroom and everywhere. There was so significant age gap that part could have been left out but even with the age difference Tavious held his own as the man…Truly amazing series I’m sad to see the Bennett brothers go but I look forward to more from this author
I really loved the book, I cried , laughed and I could envision the words on the pages. This is an excellent series. I hope we get a reunion somewhere down the line. I would love to know the happenings of the “Bennett’s” especially the father, Sam Bennett’s what’s his story and his brothers story. Kudos job well done to the author. I’m going to read her other books. Until next time.
Tavious finds himself in the path of Melinda (a police officer). After they keep crossing paths they eventually end up in bed together. Melinda determined it was one time thing and couldn’t go any further.
But Tavious can’t get her off his mind. He volunteers to be a mentor for a kid, that just so happens to be Melinda son.
They tried to keep things separate but that was quickly determined it wasn’t gonna work. They get together but not before they run into a snag. I wish we would have gotten to see them get married and possibly have children. But good ending to this series. I will be reading the rest of her work.

This is the final book in A Bennett Affair, and it definitely lives up to expectations! The story follows the young Tavious, a relative of the Bennett brothers, though one in particular is especially close to him. Recently graduated and already thriving in a lucrative career, Tavious has never been in love. But will a fiery “bobcat” steal his heart, or will she simply give him a glimpse of what’s out there, showing him how a slightly older woman can have him completely captivated?
Ya IOU’s has some tricks for Melynda if she wasn’t so concerned about 2 things: her son Dilly and Tan’s age. Just read, sit back and enjoy!
A good read but a few questions how the puzzles pieces will work for the Bennett family. Don’t want to all so avoid talking the story but glad things were coming together for Tavious!
I truly enjoyed the last Bennet story! Suuuper cute with true life issues. Tavious smart, intelligence and talented brother omg! Won the hearts of Mel and her son Dillion. Didn’t let age difference (Mel )play a part in any of it! Tavious put those things of the past regarding the family, away for good!
Great series well worth the money. All books can be read alone but flows well if you read them in any order. I don't usually spend alot on books but I really like the series. Hope she continues it. Worth the money and the time. Start following her other series as well. Take a chance and buy her books. You wont be disappointed.
I enjoyed this book immensely. I wasn't quite sure I would read it because the previous installment was ALL OVER THE PLACE with so many characters and was just drawn out. This was precise and on point. Just enough characters and the storyline was fluid. Glad I took the chance. Turned out to be a nice little cougar tale.
Donnia I'm loving this series. First Tavi took on so much he learned how to cope with situations out of his control. Watching Mel come into her own and being such a strong woman that didn't know she needed love and the right man to give her that. I.think I enjoyed their story the most because of Tavi growth and how mature he was.🤗🤗🤗🤗
Am glad Tav got his own story and it's great that his story was how he'd turn his life around and meeting the love of his life....and helping her son through the trial of life
I love reading about Tavious and how he handle Benji being his older brother. I love how he changed his life around. Meeting Melynda showed me he was on some grown man ish. I liked them together. Good book.
This was an ok read. I listened to it. The switch between the past and present isn't clear. As well as the transition into new scenes are not smooth. I was found myself confused about who was speaking.
