I made a deal with a demon: my freedom in exchange for forty days at his side. Little did I know how much more I would be giving up.
My naivety? Definitely.
My sanity? Possibly.
My heart? Irrevocably.
Kincaid is cruel. Savage. A monster. I should hate him, but something inside of him whispers to the dark parts of me, bringing me back to life. So, when he says needs me, I owe it to him to try.
Two of the seven lords of Hell are dead, and I may be the only creature on this mortal coil able to reach them. But my power is drawing unwanted celestial attention, luring in new foes on all sides until it’s impossible to know who to trust.
Better the devil I know, than the ones I don’t.
Sins of the Damned is book two in this enthralling series of sinful truths, wicked desires, and a girl caught in the crossfire of a celestial war centuries in the making.
Elena lives in Canada with her husband, daughter, and their Siberian cat overlords. She writes dark, why-choose romances full of feisty heroines, unforgettable heroes, and their kindle-melting chemistry.
When she comes out of her writing cave, she can be found binge-watching true-crime shows, obsessively rearranging her bookshelves, or chasing the sun around the globe.
Wow just wow. Really, what cliffhanger. Is not fair how it ends. I am so in love with kincaid. I can't wait to read more of him!! I wonder how long will have to wait for the third book. This is one of the best books i have read!
I have been looking forward to this book for a while, and I was so excited to see it. It didn’t take long until I was back in Paige’s world. For a while, Paige and Kincaid are looking for a necromancer to help her with her powers and also trying to find out what happened to his brothers. Everything was what you would expect and BAM, you are thrown into a nightmare of epic proportions, and you don’t know what’s going to happen next. When things look a little better, it’s the end of the book, and I was like I didn’t see that coming. This was a great book, and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I just loved this one! I lived the first book to but this one was ten times better. I absolutely adore there relationship and Casper the Demon cat. I can't wait for the last book in the series to come out. I need it. I need to know how this series ends!
I likes the first book and saw loads of potential, so I am delighted to say that this book delivered and then some.
I loved Paige's growth. Her character is just so well realised and authentic.
I'd be lying if I didn't say Paige and Kincaid's relationship wasn't the biggest draw for me. I love their dynamic and he's just the sort of villainous character I enjoy reading about.
4.5ish stars. Usually I hate series where the heroine is the same throughout... I like when there's a different couple in each, in the same world/community, etc. This is a super slow burn in the romance aspect, but the storyline is so interesting I don't care. Very few authors pull this off well (re: slow burn, same heroine series), she did a great job. The sex scenes were feh, it's a problem in UF I find, but otherwise awesome - I didn't have to check how far along I was (you know that point, sometimes you just think, why isn't this book over yet?) - instead I thought, why did it end so soon?
So, so much going on in this book! First of all, the characters. Fell in love with them in the first book. This book cements that and adds some more characters to the mix. Although the newer ones are a bit grumpier. Story is fast paced with action. Learning more about Paige's history. There are some parts that are not for the faint of heart type (torture) but if you have to you can skim those parts and still enjoy the story. Overall great follow-up to Book 1.
Downgraded to a 3-star from 4-star rating. I gave the first book a higher rating since I'm a sucker for the abused FMC trope, but this book really lacked character depth (with both main characters and significant side characters like Artemis and Tori) and world building, and the addition of gratuitous violence pushed the silliness over the top for me. I didn't believe why a powerful demon lord of hell would fall head over heels for a random supposedly purebred demon who didn't know how to use her powers or how to survive on her own in the world. The FMC's TSTL behavior about and trusting that she'd return safely made me want to throw my Kindle.
I ended up quickly finishing the book since it was pretty short and am willing to check out the beginning of the next one to see if I actually want to finish the series or just abandon it because I'm not really enthusiastic about our FMC, the plot, or the romance.
Did you just...she just...he, who...and is...unholy sins of damned what?! Now that’s I’ve semi gotten the ramble out of my system. Paige go through a lot. And not just growth and relationship with everyone. No like A LOT. I love the bit of darkness in this book. There’s more of an edge that’s coming out. Tons more tension and apprehension. If book one made you go omg love this, book two will make your jaw drop! Should you read this book, no. You should devour this book!!
Elena, darling, I love you and dislike all at once. You know what you did.
Paige and Kincaid grow closer as they try to figure out what she is. When they very publicly discover that she can travel to hell and back (something that only the seven lords of hell can do), it’s puts a target on her back. Everyone is now curious about this unknown diablim. How was she able to survive the journey? What other powers does she possess? But the real question is: will both she and Kincaid survive with so many enemies trying to get to her, and an unknown entity taking out the lords of hell one by one?
I didn’t realise this was also going to be a cliffhanger and that the next book isn’t even out yet! Gaahhhhh!
I was correct in my prediction of what she is, although it hasn’t been 100% confirmed. Really looking forward to seeing what she can really do once she has full control of her powers.
I love her relationship with Artemis, that Tori is so feisty, how crotchety Lady Devereaux is, and of course the raw sexual chemistry with Kincaid. Also love Casper the demonic-cat-but-not-just-cat!
The Carver is…well…next level insane/creepy/psychotic/murdery. The angels seem like douchebags, especially Tristane. Will be interesting to find out who he’s working for too!
But Kincaid is just…le sigh. “I am no hero. I would watch this world burn to keep you safe. And I would do it with a smile.” I mean, who doesn’t want that guy on their side??
I just had a point of confusion as to why her birthdate was so important. The first book stated that she’s 19, but they’re saying her father roamed the Earth 23 years ago. So unless otherworldly beings have a long gestation period, or Paige has actually been with Kincaid for a few years rather than weeks/months, I really don’t see what relevance her birthdate has?
I really do need to know what happens now though so NEED to know when the next book is due out please! Please?
The ending on this story was much better than the first.
My only beef is with the character development of Paige. You mean to tell me that a girl who has been raised by a man who physically and mentally abused her her entire life, just seamlessly hops into a relationship with another man that bought her at an auction? Not buying it. The pacing of their relationship is wonky. It's feels like the author paced the intimacy for the reader and not the story.
Also, why does Kincaid like her? I mean I like her as a character, but we've never really gotten to understand why his attachment is so deep to her. He always seems to have these over the top reactions when he discovers things about Paige's past, but he's a demon lord. Hasn't he seen the worst of the worst? Why would this make him lose his cool?
I wanted to see how their relationship would evolve over time, but I guess this is just written for the steam and not trying to go for realism.
All in all not a bad story and an easy read to skim.
First I LOVED this book! I was so happy when I found out it was coming out! (also the first book was amazing too!). Sins of the Damned picks up where we left off from book one (Kiss of the Damned), and we get to read/see Paige come more into herself, and its great. She is a strong female lead and she is able to deal with Kincaid. She becomes fast friends with Tori, who is another great character we see a lot more of in this book. Artemis is hilarious and becomes a great "adoptive" brother to Paige. Kincaid comes a long way from where he started in book one, especially with Paige. I also just can't get enough of him lol. The plot development is great and there are twists and turns throughout the book. I very much enjoyed watching Paige and Kincaid's relationship develop and grow. The book does end on a cliffhanger, but it just makes me all the more excited for book 3! If you've read this review and haven't read the first book, go read it! Lol, your missing out.
I said it with book one and I’ll say it again with book two my mind is blown away!!! This is probably one of my favorite series ever by this author, which is saying something because I really do love all of her work! The characters developed and grew so much in this book, it made it super easy to picture them in my mind! The plot and action and nail biting excitement kept me on the edge of my seat. That ending wrecked me!!! But I also loved it and cannot wait for more!! In all honesty there wasn’t a single word, person, place or thing I didn’t love about this book and I will be shoving it at my friends until it’s at the the top of their tbr lists!!!
I loved this addition to the series! I love these characters and I really really enjoyed the growth in both relationships between characters and individual growth. This book had me at the edge of my seat. The sexual tension between Paige and Kincaid is palpable ! I loved it! There were moments in this book where my heart absolutely broke for Paige. She goes through a lot both mentally and physically and she kept on surprising me with her resilience. I am really enjoying this series, it is one of my favorites by this author but also , I love everything she writes! The ending of this book left me shocked and I am so excited to see where this story goes in the next installment!
I didn't love this one as much. Most of the time the characters were at the house and nothing really happened until the end. I did like the ending though, I didn't really expect something to happen to Page, because she's the main character and the author didn't seem to lean towards gloom and violence, but she surpised me.
What didn't surprise me was the cliffhanger and the revelation about Page's parents. I saw that one coming from the first chapters of the first book.
Still an enjoyable read and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book if we'll get more of these delightful little twists.
I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.
This poor girl. Paige cannot get a break from terrible things happening to her! I just want her to be a normal girl who only stressed about watching her favorite TV shows. Instead everyone wants to torture her!
I love how possessive Kincaid is becoming with Paige, though he still has his limits on how powerful he can be. Plus I feel like Paige has control over him more than he would want to admit.
I'm still very intrigued to find out what Paige is capable of and I'm hoping it will explode in the last novel!
Holy hell what a ride. Paige is learning her powers and how to harness them. She and Kincaid are working together to uncover the being behind the demon lords deaths. Their relationship is evolving and it's interesting to see the changes. And I love Casper, even if I shouldn't. The bombshell at the end has me chomping at the bit for the next book, lol. Definitely a satisfying installment to the series.
You will be on the edge of your seats with this one.... we slowly start to learn about Paiges abilities and try to figure out the mysteries surrounding her background... the relationships around her are also developing from friendships to romance... this goes end on a cliffy and it’s a biggy .... keen for the next instalment to find out where this all goes next!
Sins of the Damned was absolutely worth the wait! I love these characters so freaking much. The storyline continues to be fast paced and so easy to read. It was tension filled with the perfect amount of steam! This book truly was everything awesome I have come to expect from Lawson's work. I can't wait for book 3!
Wow! This book was incredible. I really enjoyed book one, but this book blew it out of the water. Just when you think you might get some answers, there are more questions. I could not stop reading. I was not ready for that cliffhanger! Elena I need the next book ASAP!
what the what was that ending!?! ... Paige is coming into powers she never knew existed ... Kincaid is wanting to use her skills to find his brother's murderer, when things just get worse ... now the angels are involved and all Hell is ready to break loose
This whole book didn't feel very organic. Most scenes seemed to take place just to set up a very obvious scene. Also I couldn't take the bipolar emotion of the main character. The ending was seen a mile away
Why is this book so short!!! Another cliff and have to wait for the next one. Ugh. I’m hooked though. I have to know what’s going to happen. The story is great but way to short.
DNF at 25%. She’s an idiot in book 2, and I sick of spending time with her. She blames everyone else for her mistakes and short comings, she’s lazy and refuses to work at educating herself. She doesn’t use her newfound power for anything.
The Lords of Hell are in the line of fire and time seems to be slipping away from Paige and Kincaid. Paige has loads to learn about her powers if she wants to stay alive and be able to protect the ones she cares about. There’s enemies everywhere and understanding the situation and who’s causing the havoc is the order of the day. Loved this book and can’t wait to see how this story is going to end.

More love. More betrayal. More death. This series keeps coming hard, rushing past like a bullet train. TW for graphic torture scenes that spans more than a single chapter. Even so I can’t say enough how much I loved this book. On to the next.
