I spent half my life as a savage guerrilla soldier, fighting to take back the kingdom that was stolen from me. Now, I’m back on the throne as the King of Bullogia. My will is iron, my control unflinching, and my heart walled-off and cold.
Until Claire Shaw explodes into my world.
The spunky, strong-willed reporter is part of the media circus I’ve invited to my country for the first time. My enemies seek to turn the world against me. They call me the tyrant. Bringing Claire here was meant to set the record straight. But once I lay eyes on the curvy American, I know I'm about to keep her all to myself, come what may.
Freedom takes power. Protecting my kingdom takes an iron fist. Making Claire mine might just take me apart at the seams, but so be it.
The world already calls me a tyrant. Let them see how I am when I truly take what I want…
A reader first and foremost, Jagger Cole cut his romance writing teeth penning various fan-fiction stories years ago. After deciding to hang up his writing boots, Jagger worked in advertising pretending to be Don Draper. It worked enough to convince a woman way out of his league to marry him, though, which is a total win.
Now, Dad to two little princesses and King to a Queen, Jagger is thrilled to be back at the keyboard.
When not writing or reading romance books, he can be found woodworking, enjoying good whiskey, and grilling outside—rain or shine.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and unfortunately it was a DNF for me.
The characters are annoying and way OTT. The hero sees the heroine one minute and the next she is his “obsession.” He locks her up in his palace where she stomps her foot, pounds her fists on the door and screams while she is lusting and blushing thinking about him.
I made it 20% and realized this wasn’t a book I wanted, nor could I finish.
Holy He**!!! The chemistry between Claire and Enzo is off the charts! She’s a journalist writing a story on the tyrant king of Bullogia and he is the king trying to clean up his image. I Love how possessive and obsessive Enzo is over Claire. Enzo is a man that embraces his image as a tyrant because he has had to claw his way from Civil War in his country to his rightful place as king. Will Claire be able to give him the image makeover he so needs to sway the international journalists?
I loved every second of Claire and Enzo's story. A man who's clawed his way back to the throne and used to fighting for what he wants, King Enzo is brash and cocky and oh-so-sexy. He's used to getting what he wants--and he wants Claire, a reporter who has been assigned to do a segment on his small country. Never a dull moment, there's the perfect amount of tension/steam between the characters, and--as always--a very happy ending. Tyrant is another awesome book from Jagger Cole, and a definite must read!
Enzo has taken back, after years of fighting for it, his heritage, the throne. He's now called a Tyrant, by holding the news media has been arranged to attempt to change the world that he is just a man who fought for his country and people. But now he has seen the woman, who he will take, keep, marry, and create a family with. Now he just has to convince her. This was a read that drew me in and held me until the last word of the story.
I received an ARC, to read and review, my honest opinion.
The tyrant is the King of a small country. He fought for 15 years to get the country back under his leadership after his family was brutally killed. He has agreed to allow journalist from around the world into his country for a small amount of time, but he kicks them all out once he gets upset. Kicks them all out except Claire. Insta attraction! Boom! I love this insta-love novella and highly recommend you read it!
Well... it’s short and *SUPER* safe. 🤷🏼♀️ I went in completely blind... it’s all the stuff that tends to bore me to tears: Insta-love, no tension or chemistry, no conflict, older characters, virgin-ish H, No OW drama (are there even any other women in this country besides his sister and the h’s friend?? 🤔🤔😏) At least the H is j/p. #smallblessings 🤣
Anyway, the writing is fine, if shallow, for a short book. There’s definitely an audience for this sort of thing, it’s just not me. 🤷🏼♀️
This is another example of why I tend to not be a fan of novellas. At least novellas written by authors who tend to write books with high heat. The story was so focused on just the part of how much they want to bone each other that them actually liking each other and then actually saying I love you just flat out didn’t even make sense. I overall can still say I do like Jagger Cole’s writing and other books but wow I would not recommend this. Just bad. I forced myself to finish it (lots of skimming) since it’s so short.
This book felt like all action and no coherent plot. Maybe because it was a short book or maybe because it was lazy writing but I am not sure. However, I will give the author/series another shot and read the sequel.
Tall, dark, dangerous (literally), and king. How can you not love that? Not only king, but one who took the crown back from the bad guys 😍. And when he, Enzo, decides to finally allow the world to see the truth, he decides to let Claire be the only one to tell/show it. He is instantly enraptured & possessive of her and it doesn’t take long before the feelings are mutual. I loved the king. I loved their chemistry. And I can’t wait for more in this world.
Holy Moly!! The chemistry between Enzo and Claire literally jumps off the page and the storyline itself kept me absolutely riveted to see how this worked out. There are very few male romance authors I read and Jagger Cole is one of them. His stories are not only quick, easy reads with instalove, there's a story with a plot involved that continues to hold my interest. Congratulations!!!
The writing voice is very simple, like it’s been dummied down because he thinks his audience is stupid. The overuse of italicized words is criminal.
The misogyny - why are they referring to a fully grown, professional reporter as a "girl?”
The MMC reads like a romance cartoon character. Big & broody and ruled by his hormone rush upon seeing (not even meeting) the FMC. Seriously, what kind of "cold," "dictator, tyrant, monster" is so easily ruled by his feelings?!? And why is he already using the word "mine" before even meeting this woman? 🙄 He is so over the top & cheesy. I already can't take him seriously and it's only page 8.
The FMC perspective is so bad it’s basically offensive to women. He actually wrote woman saying, “a war criminal…a f*cking hot war criminal.” Followed by, “He’s hot with two t’s.” 🙄And then they proceed to have an incredibly disturbing conversation about how hot the war criminal dictator is & make some very unfunny comments about Saddam Hussein. I understand that later in the book we probably find out that the king is oh so misunderstood and a morally gray stand up guy, but this whole exchange was a deeply shallow & offensive representation of women. It gave the same vibes to when all those Booktok women were saying murderer Wade Wilson was hot. Just no. DNFing this insult to humanity.
Tyrant is the first book in Jagger Cole’s Power series. In this book, Cole introduces readers to Claire Shaw and Enzo Amantea. She is a curvy and beautiful reporter for the LA Herald. He is a member of Bullogia’s royal family. His father was dethroned when a group overthrew the monarchy and killing his parents in the process. Enzo became a freedom fighter and spent 15 years fighting until he was successful in his own coup and became the rightful king. Subsequently, his adversaries successfully paint him as a tyrant and besmirch his image and reputation through the media. He needs to rectify this; however, a reporter’s unprofessional tactics obliterates his plan. Foreign press is expelled from the country except for Claire, who caught his eye. She remains. What happens next? You must read the book the discover what unfolds.
Mr. Cole has fashioned a story of surprising depth, emotional complexity. He does a wonderful job creating unlikeable characters that the reader still becomes invested in. As this story progressed, I found myself deeply immersed in this story. He uses multi-faceted characters, betrayal, intrigue, along with other literary devices to capture his readers’ attention. This book is well-written with great dialog and descriptive scenes that lends credibility to this HEA romance. Way to go Mr. Cole!
I love JC books, especially the Deviant hearts series
But this?
I’m sorry are you seeing this?
“And suddenly, there she is. She steps out of the van, and the wind blows her long dark hair around her like a halo. She’s wearing a short-sleeved sundress—white, with lavender flowers on it. She turns against the wind, and my breath catches. Big blue eyes, a perfect button nose, and lips—my God, her lips. My eyes move over her, and a feeling I’ve never felt before takes hold of me. I’ve wanted before, and I’ve felt desire before. But I’ve never felt it like this. I watch the way the wind whips around her, and my jaw grinds tight. “Lieutenant!” The man stops yet again. “Sir?” He runs back over making his limp more pronounced. “Her.” I point at her. “Yes?” “This show is over. Send them all home.” “Your highness…” “Over,” I growl. “I want them all gone and back on fucking planes by sunset.” “And the girl?” My eyes burn with desire. My blood feels like fire in my veins. “She stays,” I growl quietly. “She’s mine.”
Just like that 🙄
Well at least they don’t call him tyrant for nothing.
I was blessed with ARCs of both Tyrant and Outlaw. I didn't get Tyrant read before its release, but after reading about the Kingpin of the London underground outlaws and his vying with Ariana, Princess of Bullogia, I knew I had to back up to read about the Tyrant Enzo, her brother. His whole family, except he and his sister, were murdered in a coup when he was 15. He spent the next 15 years leading a rebel group hiding in basements to fight to regain freedom for his countrymen. Now the ousted regime was reigning terror on the citizens and spreading false bad news about the new Tyrant King. Enzo had invited media people into his country for their own look, but when one broadcaster started setting the stage with machine-gun casings and a burned US flag, he immediately had them all ousted except Clair Shaw, who he held against her will. Now she will determine if he is truly tyrant or caring king! A fantastic story! Recommended.
I was given this book to give my honest review. This book was really good. I don’t typically like romances where the woman is a reporter, it always makes everything seem like the woman has ulterior motives but this story wasn’t like that so I was really excited when I started reading this book and found out how well the story plot was. Hot demanding alpha with an unwavering insta love. Sassy heroin with a sweet heart and her desire for him is just as strong. Super safe book, no cheated and HEA. The plot was well thought out and well written. Usually when you get short reads like this you don’t get everything explained or the plot is lacking but this had just the right amount with everything. Thank you for the early read and I would definitely recommend buying the read!!
King Amantea, Enzo, is misunderstood. His enemies make him look like a tyrant, but he’s actually a leader, fighting for his country and protecting his people. He reluctantly invites the media from around the world to his kingdom and immediately shuts it down after seeing attempts to enflame the lies being told. The only good to come out of the mess is the beautiful American reporter, Claire. She alone, gets to tell the story of his country. But what price must she pay to report the “truth” about this hardened man, who is having a lot of trouble keeping his obsession for Claire, under control.
Wow. It was pretty easy to fall in love with Enzo. You’ll be rooting for Enzo and Claire in no time, if you don’t mind Enzo’s OTT, growly, alphaliciousness.
This was my first book, written by Jagger Cole. It won’t be my last.
This was an OTT instalove romance with the guy demonstrating his caveman tendencies and the woman going from helpless to under his spell.
I love royal romances and this is a rather rough royal romance since Enzo is the king because his people have been waging a war to reclaim their country from a regime that killed his family. Enzo has been fighting and hiding during his last 15 years so he is still rough around the edges.
As with all of Jagger Cole’s books, the steamy dialog is really good and it doesn’t try too hard. The fact that this was novella length made it perfect for a grown up bedtime story.
This story is super fun to read and you will love these characters. Enzo is a tyrant when he needed to reclaim what was stolen for him but when it comes to the people of his country he will do everything in his power to keep them safe. Claire is a journalists who wants to show the truth of this amazing man and the people who care so much for what he has done. She also has fallen hard for him and doesn’t want to lose him! Their story is adorable and extra spicy when they finally come together. As always Jagger Cole delivers with amazing characters, sexy and spicy storyline and a jaw dropping good time between the pages. Happy Reading!!
Enzo fought hard for years to over throw the evil regime that killed his parents and took over his country. Fifteen years later he reclaimed the throne that was stolen and became the King of Bullogia, but the media claimed he was a tyrant. Something he had to change. His people knew he would do anything to protect his country. Being a reporter Claire was excited to get the chance to interview the King and tell the real story of his country but at what cost? All other reporters were sent away after telling lies and trying to ruin his image. The chemistry between Enzo and Claire was explosive. He was very obsessed and possessive of Claire.
I enjoyed the fire and the banter between these two so much. I ate up their scenes together and needed to know what happened next.
Enzo is the king of Bullogia who may or may not be a Tyrant. Claire is a reporter, which I admit I am not a huge fan of them, who is invited to the palace to do a report on Enzo's country. So what does a king do when he sees what he wants? He takes it.
This was a quick read but filled full with the two main leads having lots of chemistry and a good storyline. I would definitely recommend this book.
Enzo and Claire’s story is my favorite story so far by Jagger Cole. I have loved each book I’ve read by Cole but they keep getting better. In this one you have that instant chemistry that keeps getting built onto. A little bit of suspense and the characters are so easy to fall in love with, even the secondary ones. It’ll also leave you wanting the next story ASAP.
Enzo is being labeled in the media a tyrant, but he's just the rightful King of Bullogia and has to fight to get his country back. Now he is allowing the press to come to his country so that he may show them he is truly trying to do right by his people. Then he spots Claire in the crowd of reporters and everyone else gets kicked out and he keeps Claire with him. This is a great read and I highly recommend it!
Enzo, the king who truly takes what he wants. And he'll keep Claire in his palace because he simply wants her. She's the softer touch that melts down the tyrant. She's been held captive but can't help to fall in love with him.
It's well-written short story with an engrossing plot with sexual tension that immerses me more. I really like this one. They just meant to be together, like two pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly.
Loved the storyline but it seemed some of the" language" was just thrown in for the sake of saying it's there. It detracted somewhat from the overall work. Some was ok and flowed naturally but the author went overboard with a lot of it. Loved the tyrant king and that he " got the girl".
This is a quick Instalove read. I loved this quick read!! I fell in love with the country of Bullogia The king fought to reclaim his country The world calls him a tyrant An invited reporter there for the story of a lifetime. He sees her and immediately wants her - he's instantly in love Can she help him with his image? I LOVED this story
Definitely different from other people story line 👍!I
Short and sweet I like the beginning of the story line 👍 and how she told the story of his country! Sensual in-depth pleasure throughout this book! Keep it sensual and continue the romance. The joking of his duck was amusing!!
