Oh wow, I so very much enjoyed this new start to a new series.

Jenna has not had an easy life with having lost memories, being in not good foster homes and abusive foster parents. But she rises above her past and makes something of herself to help others. She is a social worker, who is not going to let kids slip through like she did. One night out on the town with her friend turns her life up side down. Welcome to her new life.

Guys, this was really so, so good. I could not put my kindle down. I

Just so you know this book is a slow-burn so they aren't instantly gonna get it on, but the build-up is oh so sweet!! There is such promise for the books to come

The relationship development is a lot more real than insta-love and takes into account the heroine's background. This is where the slow-burn really shines because when they get there it's going to make the wait so worth it!

The depth of the characters is absolutely brilliant for the first in a series. There is fantastic detail and each c

Wow this story was freaking fantastic!!!! Absolutely loved it!!! Ok so this is a slow burn. Now I usually am not a fan of slow burns. But this storyline and just the buildup over all was enough for me. The guys sound gorgeous. And I cannot make up my mind which one I like more. I really hope we see more of Akito in the next book. I won’t give away spoilers so you will just need to read this one to know what I’m talking about. Definitely a must read. You will love The main character Keanna and he ...more

Kenna (FMC) has a night out with a friend and a chance meeting with 4 hot men - Luka, Teo, Koa and Callum turns her life completely upside down. Opens her up to a world that she had no idea about as well as finding out secrets about her and her background. A slow burn RH book and a quite longish read for a first book in the series i think. Still the story flowed quite quickly and all the characters including Akito the Kitsune (Awwwww hes a cutie an i cant wait until he changes. Im sure he'll be ...more

Second book me PLEASE

This book was amazingly written, I love how the main character didn’t immediately go from not understanding how to use magic to becoming a master at it, that there was a process. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

I got this book a long time ago, like I get so many books. I see a free book on Amazon, the blurb sounds interesting enough and I think why not. And just like so many other books it was on my iPad looking pretty, but not actively being read. Until I heard that I could get an ARC of the second book if I wanted to. I never accept a second book without reading the first and since I need to come with an answer before Thursday this was the perfect moment to read this book.

And honestly, I needed some

Just wow. Brand new author willow Hayes absolutely has blown me away with her debut novel. Book lovers of ivy Asher, Erica woods... really any of the epic books will love this cannot wait to see where this series goes
Flicker and Flame by Willow Hayes is a reverse harem paranormal romance novel that introduces readers to a character who has lived her life believing that she is human only to discover that locked inside her is magic that marks her as the true heir to the throne. She’s not ready for the threats that are quickly coming her way, but with the help of her men she just might be able to survive and move forward toward her true path.

This is book 1 of the series and is a slow burn RH.
I love this story, it kept me hooked from the beginning. Kenna is social worker, determined to help kids in the same foster system she suffered through. A chance meeting in a nightclub changes everything.
I loved Kenna as a character, she was tough and determined but also vulnerable and willing to learn more. The guys were also great, having worked together for years they are already a tight knit group.
You get to know all the characters really w

Absolutely loved this book! I was hooked from the start. The way that Kenna threw her heart into everything that she does is fantastic and pulled me in. When she finds out that she has magic and is drawn and bonded to what becomes her “chosen” is just awesome. As their feelings for each other become stronger and Kenna tries to fight her desire for all 4 of them her last comes back to haunt her. She tries to fight her last as she tries to unleash her new magic but doing both seems to be a fight s ...more

Amazing. This is SERIOUSLY one of my favorite books I've read in a while. The relationship dynamics between the five main characters and even the secondary three main characters is so organic and natural feeling they are all embedded deep beneath my skin. I feel connected to them and the storyline so much. Her trauma was intense and painful, and her courage and strength and vulnerability throughout, was breath-taking. I am marveled, and overjoyed to find a new author to love and will happily be ...more

Flicker and Flame - Hot and Sparky

Outstanding! Kenna is a tough cookie on the outside with major insecurities on the inside. The reasons are justified and her snarky attitude is well founded. After a night on the town with her best friend she finds that she is not who she thought she was. When she finds herself in over her head she has to depend on four hunky guys that she met that fateful night. Will she be strong enough to confront her past and move forward with her destiny? Well written story

This is a new-to-me author and I have to say, she did a fab job drawing me in to the story, the characters' lives and the mystery of Kenna. There's great chemistry, a variety of personalities that help train her, and friends that are more than family in this fast paced high octane read. Expect to feel all sorts of love, nerves, anger and edge of your seat suspense while you follow along with Kenna to seek answers to so many questions. This is book one, though, so more over arcing plot to explore ...more

I love books about magic. I love books about supernatural beings. I came across this one which seemed to have a bit of a different twist. The use of foreshadowing in the first chapter was amazing.
My heart wept for Kenna and all that she had been thru. It was not an easy life. The harem are all so different and exactly what she needs.
This book has some good twists and turns. The end of this book leaves enough unanswered questions that I really can't wait to read the next one.

Enjoyable and Entertaining Read

Wasn't really sure what to expect while reading this book but let me tell you that I absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed getting to know about Kenna and everything pertaining her past. This was definitely a slow burn read but with all the other factors throwing in like intrigue, suspense, mystery and action made for a helluva read. So looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series.

Has potential

A fairly undemanding read (although trigger warnings needed for child abuse recollections) but it could do with some more work imho. There is foreshadowing which operates more like a blunt instrument than a subtle clue, for eg. And it's a bit lacking in world building, I still feel a bit clueless as to how the world is set up, even as to whether it's a secondary world or not.
But I liked the characters enough to finish it, and I'll probably read the next as it's in KU. I don't think

I wasn't sure for the first couple of pages, I am not much of a kid person and other than fighting for the foster kids there isn't much going on but it was all just setting up the character which is understandable. Once Chapter 3 hits though, it really takes off in my opinion. To the point where I think I would be reading the book again just for the sake of reading it (as oppose to reading it in preps for sequel) ...more

Great read; will purchase

I love the thought of a world where magic coexist with the mundane and it's not the end of everything. I borrowed this but now I have to buy it because I will reread this later down the road. I'm just glad I don't have to wait to long for the next in the series to come out.

This is a good RH. The world building in this first book is great. I enjoyed learning about Kenna who she is and her past. I think that the men that she took as her chosen were a good fit for her. There is some steam in this book, but the story focuses on the relationships between the characters. This will no doubt make for a great series and give the reader a great vision of the characters personalities. No Spoilers here.

This book left me speechless. It’s dark and not at the same time. It has triggers, but it’s all about overcoming things that happened to you, and drawing strength from surviving Terrible situations life threw you in, and finding people you can trust and open up to. The main character is awe inspiring and the story is amazingly written I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to read the next.
Actual stars 1.5.

The story is a 3 star and Troy Duran's narration was excellent!

Stephanie Rose's narration, however was terrible! Her diction is all over the place. She has the male characters sounding simple-minded. Some parts she reads normally and other parts she sounds as if a robot is reading. Very Annoying!

Slow burn lovers will really enjoy this. It focuses on the relationships and their build up rather than instant love which I do love. It gives the characters a raw and detailed description rather than making them something that seems fake. I loved the plot, it has lots of promise. I loved the concept and the story was beautifully written. So looking forward to book 2!

A definite page turner. Kenna and her chosen are some amazing characters -- strong, caring, and compassionate. Intriguing and well developed plot that I became totally immersed in and WOW what an ending. So can't wait for book 2 so I can continue reading their amazing journey. Wow! This was the first book of this author that I've read and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the premise and the storyline, it was creative and well thought out. The world building was done really well, with great description and detail. I really enjoyed the characters and the growth we see in each character as individuals and as the story progresses. This is a slow burn RH and I felt that this really fits these characters and their lives really well. There is a lot of dark history that the FM ...more

Stunned this reader

Kenna, a human social worker in a supernatural world, goes out for a night on the town with her dryad friend and has her attention captured by four supernatural men (Callum, Luka, Nakoa, and Teo). As the story progresses they come away from the night with a surprise, the hits keep on coming with no rest, and fighting fate is a futile exercise that is undertaken with little reward.
