Okay, I’ll admit it, this is my least favorite time of year. Yeah, I understand the enchantment of the season…I get that…but most people don’t have jobs that involve wrangling magic. During the last three months of the year, magical influences run rampant. And that means a lot more work for me. And this year is the worst of all. Why you ask? Because I’m not only trying to wrangle the out-of-control magic artifacts flying around all over the place. This year, I also have to try to keep a magical cat and a talking frog out of trouble. Goddess take the wheel. Things are about to get really ugly.

Oh my goodness! The characters get better and better! I just love it! The drama, the humor, the battles! In this Book #4 of the series (the fifth diverting book that I've enjoyed reading includes the prequel), we get to see Naida struggle with many ethical decisions. It is not the first time for her, but definitely a really emotional one.
Our heroine Naida Griffith, is once again out of her depths. She applied to be, but never really was a KOA apprentice. She was thrown in feet first (her first job was dealing with runaway killer shoes, which sad to say beat her like they owned HER... just saying); and here she is, now, the KOA, Keeper of Artifacts of the magical kind. She has been doing this job for months and there has been trouble and mayhem galore! She has been doing her best to put out the fires associated with her position, but she hasn't gotten ahead of them.
Now, it's Halloween and magic is running rampant, literally, and she is having trouble corralling and containing the magical artifacts that she is in charge of managing and cataloging. In each and every given direction there is a pitfall for her: a doppelganger that wants to take her life; an enforcer (a formidable foe seeking revenge on her and her trusty, yet annoying assistant Sebille); missing Powers that Be (PTB) - is she still an ally or is she once again out for her own agenda?; feeling like a close friend snitched on her (he kinda did), and then being told by her superiors, the Société of Dire Magic, that she is inept at her job, the library is in the worst shape it's ever been in and that she is being removed from her lodgings and position, plus she must evict her little hobgoblin friend that also has nowhere to go! Yeah, that's her life!
That's more than anyone can handle at once. She can blame others for her lack of training, her limited abilities and continue to rely on others to help her or cover for her....... or she can take responsibility for her mess!
Wow! and she owns some messy situations, too! Naida changes things up!!! She decides to take full ownership of Croakies! She changes the setup to the way that she wants it to be, the way that works for her. She removes the influences of previous KOAs (security, setups, etc) and puts her personal and emotional stamp on it all. UP to this point, she has been very reactive, where now she is being proactive! Before she was vested, assigned as KOA -- now she is being the KOA, totally invested and endowed with the power and qualities to BE the KOA!
This is the Naida that I have been looking to see, which for all of us comes through time and experience (pain and hard choices). She is now ready to handle her business, be all in and kick some adversary and artifact butt!!! (some artifacts do have butts ;-) )
While it is always her goal to protect and help her friends, she realizes that she has to also do what is in her own interest and not feel guilty about it (that's hard sometimes), and let some people make their own choices --right or wrong...
Naida has really grown up in this episode. Where her friends have made allowances for her limited skills, abilities and knowledge; I believe that they'll find she has tapped into a new strength that is all her!
Can't wait to see her in Book #5 "Frosted Croakies", with her familiar, Mr Wicked, Slimey, and the rest of her well found friends...... and when is she going to forgive Grym??? hmmmm!

This book really kicked it up a notch! With Samhain the veil between world is very thin. Nadia Keeper is having a difficult time with the Hijinks her artifacts have been up to. The Societe of Magic is wanting her job, Grym may have betrayed her (can she forgive him?), will Rustin remain a frog forever? Terrific read! I can’t wait for the next book! I so love this Series! And to have this one out now around Halloween is perfect. I enjoy the characters as they all have their own quirks and are so much fun to read. The storyline is perfectly paced with its ups and downs to keep you happily entertained. I will never think the word “Again” the same, love some Hobs!

It is the countdown to Halloween and things in Croakies are definitely in the trick category. The artifacts seem to have a mind of their own and Naida, Sebille, Rustin, etc, are spending the hours from midnight to dawn corraling them to keep them from escaping the shop. Unfortunately for them, things are going to worse before they get better. An agent from the SDM is nosing about and Naida is in danger of losing her Keeper gig, she suddenly has a doppelganger problem and has to avoid mirrors, and her greatest enemy seems to be back in town and determined to take her down for good this time. Get in line, witch.

Fun story.
It took me several chapters to get caught up and to get engaged. Apparently I missed one of the books in this series. Once I was engaged I really enjoyed this book. Characters are eccentric, weird and wonderful. Plot was interesting and very exciting. The conclusion was somewhat satisfying but there was a little bit of a cliff hanger regarding Rustin. Maybe we'll find out more about this in the next episode.

This is a hilarious series!
A really great story line. I truly enjoyed this book!
Especially all the supernormal characters. The
parrot, SD, is a real potty mouth, but so darn funny!
Has me laughing out loud every time! Mr. Slimy is
another favorite! And I can't forget Mr. Wicked. I
love that cat! The antics of all the artifacts is
another cause of my uncontrollable laughter. The
vacuum and Casanova chair are a real riot! This
is a phenomenal series!!!!

Halloween Craziness
This book was different from the others. No real mystery this time. An old enemy shows up that has to be battled, that was the best part. I got tired of reading about artifacts getting loose and causing mayhem. And I felt there were issues that came up in this book but were left open. For instance, what happened to Rustin? The book felt unfinished to me. Perhaps that mystery will be solved in the next book.

Samhain chaos!
The veil is always thin on Samhain and Naida Griffith and her Croakies cohorts have their work cut out for them to keep the artifacts in line. To make things worse, Mr. Rogers is out to get her and there is a doppelganger on the loose!
This is such a great series! The book is full of non-stop action and suspense. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

I really liked this story. I found it to be a total roller-coaster, thrill ride. I never had a chance to catch my breath. Frankly, that's the downside. I would have liked more character development, more interaction, more time to think and digest what was going on. With a page count under 200, there was room to expand the story. It was exhausting but absolutely fun. Reading the next book!

Can Nadia keep the magic in line when the veil is lifted? Can she keep her job when she has been reported? This book starts off running and doesn't slow down until the end. Loved her friends and all the magical creatures. There is a tad bit of romance, mayhem, mystery, suspense and lots and lots of magic. A secret or two is revealed and the fall out seems to be continuing into the next book. Nadia's job made me think of the TV series "Warehouse 13". Loved that series.

Naida is dealing with the artifacts acting up due to upcoming Samhain. She and Sebille are exhausted from the hijinks that the artifacts have been up too. When it finally ends for the time being, they go to bed.
Will sleeping she not only has a nightmare but one of her migraines. She gets up knowing that there is an artifact out there she needs to get.
Naida finds out where it might be, she take Rustin to go with her to the shop. What Naida sees in the shop will stop her in her tracks.
Grym tells her about a shop that has be vandalized, she knows that she has to go there. Not only will she have to deal with the artifact, but also the man that is trying to kick her out her job.
Naida will learn who is behind all the problems, she will have to make a major decision. Rustin will also do things that put Naida at risk. She also finds out that Grym did something that has been causing her problems
When it is over, Will Naida still be KOA or even alive. Will Rustin go through his plans and Will she be able to forgive Grym.

I could not put it down. Unfortunately, my body crashed against my will and I had to finish it first thing in the morning before doing anything else.
This is book 4 in this series and I am trying to wrack my brain around if it can be read as a stand alone. I am going to say yes/maybe if just starting here; some of the characters may not make full sense since you will not have the background from the previous books. You will definitely go back and read them as a result because this series is that GREAT!!!!!

Croaked series is indeed enchanting
I love this enchanted and enchanting series even when it niggles irritatingly by a typo or improper choice of a word. For me, that's HUGE bcs I am OCD finicky about language. I forgive Ms. Cheever and absolve her as long as she continues to welcome me into Naida's magical world. As a Keeper of Enchanted Objects, she is faithful when inexpert, conscientious while learning her new craft. She is growing and floating in a new world well-written. Errors in grammar, typos or missteps in a book usually ruin a fun read for me, BUT (and it's bigger than Naida's with 2 tt's), Ms. Cheever has such a commanding, yet delicate and joyful ability to create a mood, environment, characters, that I leave my pettifogging at the door of page 1. Nothing gets in the way of visits to her felicitous new world and we readers and characters are all the better for it. The Croakies embody a new realm of light reading pleasure and I'm very grateful and delighted to accept Ms. Cheever's invitation again and again.

” Croakies & Scream-Enchanting Inquiries Book 4)” - by Sam Cheever is a tale of one Naida Keeper ...Keeper of The Artifacts at ...Croakies ( a magical bookstore) ..normally not too taxing a job ...BUT during Samhain....all bets are off and Chaotic Magic reigns and artifacts...animals...and Nadia and her friends alike are ALL effected on this most frightfilled night of the year. And worse still ....a pop in visit from the Sociètè of Dire Magic. Nadia is a wits end ....no wonder then that she dreads “this time of year”. A Much enjoyed Samhain read...and Highly Recommended. The veil between the worlds gets thinner during Samhain and the artifacts all come to life and wreak havoc. Which means that Naida has her work cut out, trying to keep them contained as well as out of the non-supernormals' sight. But when Mr Rogers from the Societe of Dire Magic is quite determined to oust Naida from her position as Keeper of Artifacts and is looking around for dirt that he could dish on her. And as if that was not enough, there is a doppelganger on the loose
Sam Cheever has created another great read full of mischief and mayhem. As always it is fun to visit with Naida and see how her world seems to come apart with one thing or another! Good read, 5 stars.

The book opens with another exciting, chaotic, artifacts-escaping scene, and honestly I can see that Mr Rogers, her magical performance reviewer, has a point. For all that we're rooting for her, Naida's performance hasn't been stellar. She needs to pull it together. The question is, will she do it in time to save the people she cares for? This fourth book stays pretty much in Croakies, the bookshop and artifact library, and it refers a lot to past adventures, making it confusing at times to me, never mind newcomers. Lots of fun, lots of magic, and a fight scene between witches.

Wow! I loved Croakies and Scream! This book is fantastic! The book is an exciting adventure, full of suspense, action, mystery, intique and magic. The characters are wonderful. Naida is so interesting and fun. She really grows in her powers in this book. I love the magical world. It is so complex and interesting with many great supernatural creatures and magical items. This book is exciting and so engaging it is impossible to put down. The book is well written and detailed. I love this series! I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Naida the magic wrangler.
I loved the beginning come on how often you hear someone cry incoming when Blackbeard’s sword goes sailing through the air. This was fantastic with so much action, danger, mystery, and just plain humor. The magic in this book is all Sam Cheever she has written a well thought out and engaging piece. I love all the supernaturals and creepy characters this book had to offer. It was just the right book to read on Halloween. Pick it up if you like magical cozies because this one is a winner. Once again Naida Keeper loses control over her magical artifacts - but is she really to blame? Everything goes highwire on the nights leading up to Samhain, which made this book especially perfect as a Halloween read. And all my beloved characters are in there and I really bit my nails and were very afraid for them. The story kept me enthralled from beginning to end and I read through midnight to finish it, because I just couldn't put it down. Oh wow! I shudder to think what will happen next to top that - but seriously, I can't wait!

Naida and the gang are having no fun this samhain because everything is going crazy first we ha e evil dopelgangers, hobgoblins with rashes and now all the mirrors at mirror world are destroyed, what's a keeper of the artifacts supposed to do? I recommend you read this book. As usual Sam Cheever has done it again.

I reached the end and I’m crying happy tears! What a great book! A tiny cliff hanger in that a couple questions aren’t answered, but I’m sure as soon as the next book comes out we’ll get those answers. And I can’t wait until that next book! I’m so in love with little Hobs! His, “Again!” just makes me laugh so hard!!
