Creature: Hayton County Supernatural Series - Book 1

Rate this book
Due to her father’s recent over-protection, and a fascination with the paranormal, Mandy Jensen doesn’t have a lot of friends. On the day she receives a picture of a creepy looking creature crouched deep in the woods of Hayton County on her cellphone, she meets Abe Abernathy who is running from a mysterious past. The unlikely pair team up to investigate the creature. What they find is a whole mess of trouble. Someone doesn’t want them snooping around upon the mountain, and they’ll use any means to keep them out. Abe arrived in Hayton County with his mother, praying his father won’t find them this time. The plan is to lay low and not make any friends – friends don’t fare well in his world. Mandy enters his life, but he can’t seem to keep his distance. When his past threatens her life, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her. Strange things roam the mountains of Hayton County where tourists, and sometimes locals, go missing on a regular basis. Uncovering its secrets might be something best left alone. Editorial The author has a lot of weapons at her disposal to spin this the dialogue is spot-on, the characters fit the story perfectly, and the pacing is a race to the finish line. What I wouldn't do to return to childhood one more time and experience fishing from the bank as a little girl, especially in the dark. I'm country to the core. I fish, camp, swim in the lake, eat from a garden, drive a pickup truck, work outside, live in jeans and T-shirts, and my accent is a blend of country and southern. My favorite get-together is a barbecue in the back yard. I prefer tea to beer, but prefer Diet Coke over both those. I prefer the Outback Steak House to The Four Seasons Restaurant. I believe in God and the saving grace of His son Jesus. I believe in miracles and fairy tales, and I learned the secret of hope from a Dean Koontz novel (Frankenstein: City of Night).

I have an unstoppable curiosity about the world around me. I want to explore the coast of North Carolina, explore as many castles of the world as I can, visit haunted places all over the United States, and I absolutely love old graveyards! I know, it sounds a bit morbid, but I love all things strange and unusual. I want to see Australia someday, visit Ireland, Italy and Egypt.

During the summer months I like to swim, hike, camp, fish and just be outdoors. Other hobbies include reading, writing poetry, and exploring the Internet. I also love music! I listen to country, 80's rock and some 90's rock. Bon Jovi is my favorite rock band, followed by Savage Garden, Aerosmith, Matchbox Twenty & Green Day. In country, Gary Allan & Tim McGraw are my favorites. I also like Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, Faith Hill, Sara Evans, Trisha Yearwood, Clay Walker, Kellie Coffey, Chad Brock, Rodney Atkins. I could go on and on! My favorite Christian Rock band is Petra. I also like Point of Grace, Steven Curtis Chapman and Carmen.

I love pretty pictures, puppies and kitties and have a soft spot for soldiers. Daisies are my favorite flowers. Ideals, Cowboy & Indians, and Fate are among my favorite magazines. I love the smell of vanilla, honey-suckle, and Stetson Cologne for men. My favorite cartoons are Scooby Doo and Rocko's Modern Life and Pinky & The Brain.

Blown Away!

I’m so addicted!
I loved the dynamic between Abe, Mandy, and Bradford. Teens have to fight so many real-life monsters theses days, and in Creature, the same rings true. Love, peer-pressure, and monsters looming in the dark all give them a run for their money and help shape their characters. I can’t wait to find out what Mandy will do about Hayton County’s longest kept and most dangerous secret in book 2! Heading over to buy it now.

I would recommend this book to lovers of YA Paranormal Romance. I loved the mention of Christian values. :)
