FROM THE AUTHOR: Yes, this is an M/M story but it is not erotica. Ringo has been a character in my books since day one and Bananas is the name of the drag queen restaurant in my books that Ringo owns.
This book is about an awesome man who looks fabulous in drag meeting a man who knows he is gay but has never admitted it to anyone because he lives in a world that he believes will crucify him.
It is about opposites, give and take, and finding "home" in the people who choose to be in your life.
--BLURB-- A gorgeous man, a hot fireman, and a crazed gunman walked into a Drag Queen restaurant on a busy Sunday morning.
It sounded like a joke until...
The shooter fled, I was left bleeding on the floor, and the steamy hot fireman peered into my eyes. Why couldn't I have choked and got mouth to mouth resuscitation?
This was our story. Two men. One raging inferno of emotions.
He was rugged boots and a red fireman helmet, who kept more than fire gear in his closet.
Most days, I was glitter stilettos and red lipstick, and the only thing in my closet was a couple hundred pairs of fabulous shoes.
I was ready for love, to shout it from the rooftop, he still needed a safety net.
Before becoming a romance writer, Danielle was a body double for Heidi Klum and a backup singer for Adele. Now, she spends her days trying to play keep away from Theo James who won’t stop calling her or asking her out. And all of this happens before she wakes up and faces reality where in fact she is a 50 something mom with grown kids, she's been married longer than Theo’s been alive, and now get her kicks riding a Harley. As far as her body, she can thank, Ben & Jerry’s for that as well as gravity and vodka. But she says that she could never be Adele’s backup since she never stops saying the F-word long enough to actually sing. Danielle writes about kickass women with even better shoes and the men that try to tame them (silly silly men).
A Fun+Emotional Read, Deep Characters with their Troubles, Flaws & Strength. I love A Good M/M story and this? FABULOUS! There's Suspense, Dangers, Lots Of Fun, Brewing Love and Finding-your-true-Self! DEVOURED the Story in 5hrs! Loved Every Character (Except Kevin & Eddie, I hate'em!)
ARC Won In a Giveaway, Lucky To read this! #My 1st By Danielle, I loved the Bond All the Characters have. Totally Gonna Read the rest of the series ASAP.
Alex “Ringo”, Drag Queen + Owner of ‘Banana’ Restaurant, is a proud Gay man. Loved by many (Me included!), He has The Happy-Go-Lucky Attitude. He struggled a lot for where he's today. *Teary Eyes* I'm so proud of him! He's got A Vulnerable side that Only Cooper sees..
Cooper Dash, Firefighter+Paramedic, is Secretly Gay (& Virgin). Due to Many Reasons, he hasn't come out. This was one of the major thing he was struggling with, in the story: To own up to who he is, & Be Proud of it. (Yup, Alex was a big help here!)
As Shown By the Blurb, The story has a very Heart-racing Start. Alex was shot in his Restaurant & Cooper was the one who came to save him.
Even Though the two 1st meet here, Gazes Collide & something just Clicks for them.
Afterward, As Alex Heals (Thank God, he's OK!), Coop Stayed. In hospital, Talks+Shares. Then, At His home, He takes Care of Alex. It was all so Sweet, and both grow closer as Days Pass. Love Blooms.
This Book highly Deals with The struggles LGTB Community faces. My heart hurts for them, I'm Proud too, for what they overcome. I hope they also have Friends who Love+Support them, A Family who accepts them. Like here.
There's: Alex's Adorable Funniness, Coop's Charming Protectiveness, Shooter's Mystery, Fun with Friends, Alex healing, Trouble Sharing, Family meet, Many Firsts *wink*, Tensions, Pride Month's Festivities.. Throughout Danger Grows: A Weird Mail, Fire..
All along, We see Cooper's Struggles.. Then, Him Slowly but Surely Coming Out of his Shell. (I so Loved him here!)
WHOA what a killer twist towards the end! (Who's the Shooter? Why? Wtf?!).. I loved the ending, The Epilogue was Gorgeous! #CuteBaby
A Beautiful Life they Fought for, A HEA they Deserved. Alex+Cooper's Everlasting Love!
P.s. I loved how Fun+Supporting Ringo's Friends were!
P.p.s. Admittedly, I Smile/Giggle every time I read/Remember this Book's Title. That Slippery Banana part *Giggle*.
5 Star review of Ringo, Slippery Banana (Iron Orchids #8) by Danielle Norman Ringo, aka Alex is a drag queen and owner of Slippery Banana. For those of you have read other books in this series you have heard about him and his fantastic club before. For those of you who are new you can read this as a stand alone. This book was everything I hoped for and so much more. It was well written with characters whose stories you cannot help but become invested in. From the first to the last chapter I was absolutely hooked, even if Ms.Norman had me in tears on several occasions. This was an emotional read, at times painful but underlying all of it was a story about looking deep inside yourself, accepting what you find and being proud of who you are. There were some outrageously funny, laugh out moments as well. What can I say about the man that ultimately saved Ringo’s life? Cooper aka Dash is a knight in shining armor but he is a man with who struggles to come to terms with his true self, hiding if you will. The struggles that both Ringo and Dash faced within this story were heart breaking, even more so as I know many people in real life who have struggled with the same issues. I loved how Ringo helped Dash see who he really was and in giving him his love, he was able to help him admit what was truly in his heart and I loved how protective Dash was of Ringo and the family they made. This book is ALL about love, of finding your soul mate, of family who accept you and friends who love you and accept you even when your own family rejects your true self. Never have I wanted a couple to get the happily ever after that they deserved more than Ringo and Dash. Congratulations Danielle Norman, what an emotional, truly beautifully written, thought provoking love story that I highly recommend. LOVE IS LOVE.
For a short story this one covers a lot. I hate what Ringo faced at home when he came out, but am so happy that he found a place to fit in in Orlando, found people to support and love him. Every time she shows up in a book in the series he brings so much fun, so when things opened with a bang at his place I hated it! Hated that he was hurt just for being who he was, fabulous!
I liked the connection that Ringo had with Dash and glad that both of them acted on things, but did so in a slow way that allowed them to get to know each other. Their relationship was a bit rocky due to Dash being in the closet and Ringo being firmly out. They had to navigate a lot of things, being gay and in the closet only one, Dash had issues at work, Ringo still had someone gunning for him and finally Dash's father, who was just as bad as Ringo's mother.
I was happy when they were able to work through everything, to find their HEA, because these two deserved to live happy with all of their dreams coming true!

This is it, the book that us Iron Orchids have been waiting for for years and it's finally here - and totally worth the wait.
We've spent years getting to know Ringo (the man, the queen, the legend) on a superficial but spectacularly FAB-U-LOUS level and now we get to meet the Alex under the Ringo... and the Dash you wishes he was.
So many feels, this book has so many feels - and I struggled not to laugh, cry and snort like a complete bush pig throughout. There is a lot of pain in this book and it's all so very real, but above and beyond the pain there is love. There is just so much love to this story.
Love of a man who wants what we all want - to settle down with a man of his very own, who loves him for who he is inside, who wants the fairy tale and who won't steal his favourite stilettos.
Love of friends who will stand behind each other no matter what. Friends who are there when the blood is spilt, when the pain of words and deeds cuts deep and hard, and friends who are there to lift spirits and teach those who mess with their 'family' that if you hurt one you are punished by all.
The love of a man who knows who he is but is afraid to be himself. A man who fears acceptance for himself while fighting for the acceptance for others. A man with love in his heart from the first moment but doesn't know how to love or accept himself let alone the man of his dreams.
And most of all, the love our Ringo has for himself, his 'family', his Alice's and Queens, his randomly named dog and above all else, the love his has for his confused King.
You will laugh, you will cry, you will be horrified by the sentiments that are still alive and embraced in a modern world that prides itself on acceptance but most of all you will celebrate the love that is woven through every word. This Ringo, Slippery Banana has been long awaited for a reason - it's the pinacle of Danielle Norman's storytelling - there is no greater love and no greater story than is given in RINGO!
Let me start by saying: if you have an issue with non-"traditional" relationships ... move along, this isn't the book for you.
Ringo has been an awesome side character pretty much since the beginning of the Iron Orchids series. And us loyal readers have loved him from afar for ages. In this work we get to love him close up.
Getting to know Ringo (and his real name) on a deeper level than the Queen he is was so very worth the wait. Ringo is a bigger than life personality, someone we all need in our life. We learn more about what brought him to where he is in his life.
Dash is the perfect counterpoint to Ringo's personality. He's the quiet calm of a library to Ringo's fireworks and brass band personality. Dash is still trying to figure out his life and how to be who he is and still be who he is. How to be all the sides of himself ... and we can all identify with that. We all have sides we only show at certain times or with certain people.
It's a learning process for all of us to get comfortable with showing all sides of ourselves. And for far too many in this world it's still an eminently dangerous place to be, for no other reason than stupidity and hate.
Ringo and Dash are beautiful together. And I'm so very very happy we got a deeper look into the man, the Queen, the legend.
Ringo, one of the best characters in this series IMO, is the flamboyant drag queen that owns Bananas, one of the girls' favorite places to go to. When Ringo's day doesn't go the way he plans it to go; namely a homophobic monster coming in and shooting up his place and Ringo ending up shot. Next thing he knows he wakes up surprised that Dash, the paramedic that was first on the scene is there right by his side. For Cooper Dash this is something he feels compelled to do, sit with Ringo, not only because he doesn't have anybody, but something inside is telling him it's important to do so. The two are complete opposites, but they each feel the pull; this is the story about how the two fought to become more.
I have hoped for Ringo to get a story since his first appearance, a flamboyant drag queen, not that there are reserved ones. My only complaint is that I wanted more story, I feel like we missed some really good moments that weren't written and I wanted some of those firsts. Not talking sexually, just like Ringo's first morning at the house, how they dealt with the first night all that type of stuff, the build up stuff. This still manages to give us some really good drama, danger, and a nice naughty moment or two. I give Ringo and Cooper's story 4 stars.
Ringo’s book was everything I had hoped it would be. We got to know Ringo throughout many of the different Iron Orchids books. He has been a fabulous, hilarious, and beloved character. His story was full of so many different emotions and you will feel everyone right a long with Ringo. Ringo met his match in a paramedic who responded to something that happened at Bananas. Dash was drawn naturally to Ringo. Their journey was one where they not only had to worry about the outside threat to Ringo but where Dash also had to figure out how to be brave enough to admit to those around him that he was gay. You will be left cheering them on throughout the book. It is a must read for sure. You will not be able to put this book down.
"Ringo's story was heartfelt and real. In most of the other stories we get Ringo's drag persona and in his story we see the man behind the mask, We readers are given insight into some of the opinions of others of life choices and fundamentally we watch true love blossom and thrive. Cooper and Alex's story is real, complex and most of all full of love and acceptance. Family is who you make it and The Orchids are all a family.
""I was water being whirled up into his hurricane of personality."" ~ Cooper"
Whew! Since first meeting Ringo and reading about Bananas, I have loved his character! I was so thrilled when I learned Danielle would be writing his story.
Alex Derring, known as Ringo, is a drag queen who runs one of the best Sunday brunches in Orlando. Ringo met the ladies of Iron Orchids when they attended his restaurant. In true Danielle Norman fashion, each Iron Orchid book has to have a character from the first responder field. Enter Cooper Dash, the handsome firefighter paramedic who responds to a call and meets Ringo.
Will Ringo and Dash overcome the ignorance and judgement of family, friends, and colleagues? Or will the archaic school of thought prevail?
Seriously amazing. Danielle has written another book that will give you all the feels. I laughed and I cried. Ringo (Alex) has been injured when a gunman walks into Banana's. The paramedic that takes care of him on the way is Dash. When their eyes meet its magic. Even though Dash has not come out he knows who he is and falls for Alex. This book leads them through lots of events that will have you laughing and shedding a few tears. I love that we finally get the life of Ringo. Such and amazing person in the Iron Orchids books.
This book has all of the feels as Ringo & Dash face getting to each other while also being exposed to emotions from others, at the same time that Ringo is recovering from an injury.
Spoiler alert - you will fall in love with Ringo and Dash
The show stopping owner of Bananas, our favourite drag queen, the one, the only Ringo finally gets his story!! If you have read any of Danielle Norman’s iron orchids books, you will be pleased to see Ringo getting his romance finally. Not going to lie you will want to cry at times, laugh at others, and try to figure out who’s out to harm Ringo and his employees/friends. And never fear the iron orchids gang are present and accounted for and their love and strength of friendship and family come across the pages.
Loved this book. Ringo is the owner and star of Banana's , a Drag Queen restaurant mimicking the TV show Alice and so much more. The Iron Orchids, their spouses and friends have been friends with Ringo since Ariel did some mending for him. If you've read Danielle Norman's Iron Orchid books you have to love Ringo. Ringo meets Dash, an EMT/fireman in dire circumstances. Cooper Dash is a closet gay man who is intrigued and drawn to Ringo, and harassed by a fellow team member. This is their story told with such delicacy, depth and passion. I couldn't put it down.
I loved this one so much. Ringo, Slippery Banana will just steal your heart and make you giggle the whole read. Ringo aka Alex is one of my favorites in the Iron Orchids series and I jumped up and down when I heard he was getting his own book. Getting to know Ringo and seeing how close he is with his self made family just made my heart so happy. It is his chance with love and the challenges he still faces by small minded people. This is one beautiful story of coming out, acceptance, love and of course a little danger a long the way. This lovable drag queen Ringo deserves the best and then enters Cooper. You feel the connection between these two men is felt from the beginning. I love Cooper. He is just so real and you feel his struggle with coming out and the pressures still in society. Love is love and you can't help who you love or how hard you love. Alex and Cooper love so hard and it is so beautiful. I really couldn't get enough of this one. This is that special book that steals your heart.
Ringo, Slippery Banana: A Beautiful Love Story (Iron Orchids Book 7) A M/M story I am finally able to catch up on my Daniele Norman Books. I love Ringo from the get go of the series and I am so glad that he got his own book. This book brings out so many emotions. I laughed, cried and was just happy. The Iron Orchids stand for love, support and shows what friends and family should be all about. I can not wait for the Iron Orchids “family” to keep growing. “I couldn’t stop smiling. There was Ariel and the original Iron Orchids gang as well as deputies, firefighters, military, women, and my very own big fat Greek family.”
Blurb: A gorgeous man, a sexy fireman, and a crazed gunman walked into a Drag Queen restaurant on a busy Sunday morning.
It sounded like a joke until…
The shooter fled, I was left bleeding on the floor, and the sexy as hell fireman peered into my eyes. Why couldn’t I have choked and got mouth to mouth resuscitation?
This was our story. Two men. One raging inferno of emotions.
He was rugged boots and a red fireman helmet, who kept more than fire gear in his closet.
Most days, I was glitter stilettos and red lipstick, and the only thing in my closet was a couple hundred pairs of fabulous shoes.
I was ready for love, to shout it from the rooftop, he still needed a safety net.
Leave it to this author to serve up one heck of a read with this new book; it will just capture your heart. Ever since Ringo was introduced, real name Alex, I have been waiting for his story. The book is fast paced and takes readers down a memory lane of classics mixed with some relevant topics in the media of today and blends them seamlessly, in an understated way, to get the point across. Dash is an EMT and the paramedic sent when there is an incident at Bananas, Ringo’s club. As soon as Dash sees Ringo, there is a charge in the atmosphere and the two are completely enthralled. Each man has a different take on life that stems from their individual upbringing which makes for interesting dynamics playing out through the storyline. Overall, it is a story of love and the realization that regardless of who you are and where you come from, you are accepted and loved. This is one book that will resonate with you after completion. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
Oh its finally time for the fabulous Ringo to get his story and what better person for him then a sexy as sin paramedic!
As always with Danielle's books she grabs you straight away and keeps you hooked until you finish it. Bringing fun, steam, suspense and entertainment. This book was everything I wanted and more.
The flamboyant and fabulous Ringo deserves nothing but the best and what could be better then a knight in a Paramedic uniform. When Ringo is shot by a nasty, prejudiced evil man, is saved by Copper, aka Dash and the connection between them is instant. Dash sees something in Ringo that calls to him and forces him to face what he has been trying to hide.
As always Danielle has tackled some tough subjects but she has done it with class.
I can't wait to see what we are brought next.
ARC receive in exchange for an honest review from the author and Wordsmith Publicity
Ringo is a man who has embraced who he is in flamboyant style as evidenced by his career as a Drag Queen. He has found acceptance with those he allows close but the one thing he really wants is a man to share his life with. He never thought that getting attacked in his own restaurant might just lead to the best thing to ever happen to him.
Dash is a fireman who has accepted who he is but is conflicted with letting those around him know as he is concerned about their reaction. From the moment that he comes to Ringo’s aid he raises feelings in him that he has never felt before and he must decide if the reward of being together is worth the risk.
Their journey is filled with laughs, emotion and heat as they realize how special true love really is and to not let anyone or anything stand in the way
This is a wonderful love story between Alex(Ringo) and Dash. Ringo is outgoing, fun loving and openly gay. Dash is a still in the closet gay man. They meet when a gunman enters Ringo’s restaurant Bananas and shoots Ringo. Dash is a firefighter perimedic that starts working on Ringo right away. Danielle Norman does a beautiful job writing about the love that grows from their initial encounter. Ringo helps Dash to see how special he is. Danielle shows us how great they are together and all of what can happen with acceptance of an individual’s true self. This love story is just well done! I look forward to even more journeys from this incredible author!
If you have kept up with the series at all, you know Alex, AKA Ringo, is a flashy Drag Queen and that it was going to take a hum-dinger of a storyline to tell his tale. Well Ms. Norman did not disappoint this reader. If it’s at all possible I think I fell in love with Ringo even more after reading “Ringo, Slippery Banana”.
Ringo is and always be a larger than life character so when he is shot by a homophobic it stands to reason it would set off a huge whirlwind effect. But what he didn’t expect was the gorgeous Fireman/EMT, Cooper Dash, that came to his aid. Cooper felt an obvious connection with Ringo at first glance. The problem: Cooper is gay but not out yet. How can a closet gay man ever get close to a loud, proud and over the top man like Ringo? Especially when someone is out there trying to hurt Ringo and anything or anyone close to him.
This is an outstanding, funny, sexy and suspenseful M/M romance that this reader Highly Recommends grabbing up ASAP - you won’t forget it.
Let me start off by saying I 1 click Danielle’s books without even know what they are about. I have not EVER been disappointed. This book is no exception. I loved so many different things about this book but at the top of the list was seeing the range of reactions to having a child come out. Ringo/Alex & Dash had extremely different reactions from their friends and families, and had to find a point where they were each comfortable with themselves. I also loved that we see different sides from each of them. Ringo’s larger than life stage persona was worlds different from the true self he was able to be with Dash.
Ringo, Slippery Banana (Iron Orchids #8) by Danielle Norman is a great addition to the Iron Orchids series. We finally get Ringo's story. Ringo(Alex) is the fabulous and flamboyant drag queen who is the owner of Bananas which happens to be one of the places that the girls hang out in. Ringo ends up having a really bad day at work where he ends up meeting (not by choice) Dash, the paramedic. Instant connection and sparks. Theirs is a journey that I loved being taken on. Be prepared to laugh, cry and go on an emotional rollercoaster ride. What a wonderful experience this was.
Ringo is the most recent addition to the original iron orchids group we fell in love with him through all the ladies stories and now he got his own story. The relationship between Alex AKA Ringo and Cooper Dash is beautiful they compliment each other perfectly. This is a story of love respect and overcoming the struggles that many in the lgbt community have faced. This story is absolutely beautiful, and well written. You can always count on Danielle Norman to bring the funny, the love and the suspense all rolled up into one amazing story. If you haven’t experienced this amazing gang of people and their family you should most definitely start today!!
When Ringo, Slippery Banana was announced I was elated. This is the first MM title from Danielle Norman. It is more of a contemporary insta love novella. Which was everything that I wanted for this book. We have meet Ringo aka Alex. though several of the Iron Orchard books and now he finally finds his ever after. Being the fabulous personality, he is he falls a victim of the hate and bigotry that I still exists in this world. His savior is Cooper Dash a paramedic who is enamored of the live outside the box personality that is Ringo. While Dash hasn’t fully figured out who he is, this love exists. Can Ringo help Dash become the man they both deserve?
Ringo's story was heartfelt and real.
"I was water being whirled up into his hurricane of personality." ~ Cooper
Great book! Danielle always seems to draw you in. If you have read any of the other books in the series, then you know Ringo and probably want to know all about the person who just lives his life the way he wants to and is normally super happy and makes everyone around happy. Dash is a paramedic who is called to Ringos business where they are doing their normal Sunday show. Why was Dash called there? Who is Dash to Ringo? Go read the book! Make sure you gave time because you won’t be able to put it down until you find out what happens!
I loved Ringo's story! It was incredible! It was an amazing and well written story! I loved Ringo and Dash! They were great together! They had great chemistry and loved each other unconditionally. I really enjoyed hearing from the Iron Orchids and their spouses. I loved how they stood by Ringo. Danielle did a great job telling their story with delicacy. I couldn't stop reading it! Danielle has given us another fantastic Iron Orchids book!
Could not stop devouring this book. I was so excited when I heard Danielle was writing Ringo’s story. I have loved him in every story he had been in of Danielle’s before. He definitely got the story he deserved. Love seeing how Ringo and Dash evolved together and that connection right from the first time they met. Danielle Norman is a must read author as I’ve read them all and not 1 has ever been a disappointment.
