Integrating my 30-year experience as a registered dietitian nutritionist with the latest scientific research, I've identified the 12 most important "fixes" to help you take charge of your health, fight illness, improve gut health, take off excess fat weight, and to feel and think better-all without being "on a diet." Adopted one at a time, these 12 Fixes are done most of the time rather than 100 percent of the time to offer a non guilt, sustainable plan. Flexible enough to work within any lifestyle, culture, or diet restriction, these 12 Fixes are your formula for a healthier, stronger life. The wellness plan in this book integrates a Mediterranean, whole-food lifestyle with eating timing, exercise, sleep, eating ergonomics, and mindful eating.
This book has changed my life. I started reading it and incorporating the fixes into my life at the end of a pregnancy. I had far more energy and felt a lot better than I had in previous pregnancies. As I have transitioned into caring for a newborn, the 12 fixes have been just what I needed to care for my body and be at my best so I can care for my newborn and other children. This book is easy to read, has loads of practical and helpful information, it’s backed by science, and well organized. I am so grateful to have this book as a continual resource as I strive to improve living these fixes.
Healthier at any age— This book is full of empowering user friendly information. The author spells everything out one chapter at a time. I love the idea of taking it “One Fix at a Time”. Anyone can do this simple plan and feel like a new person at any age. Say goodbye to old habits and make new healthier habits. Judith covers everything from food, exercise and sleep. I look forward to a healthier me in 2021.
As a college student, 12 Fixes to Healthy’s acknowledgement of our imperfection when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle is encouraging. The author motivates readers to implement small changes that will have a large overall impact on our health. These 12 fixes are accessible by the average person and do not require an excess of money or time. I am especially excited to begin working on tangible steps offered in the book, intentionally working towards improved health, one fix at a time.
I’m a 54 year old male and with age I am becoming more and more intentional about issues regarding my health. There is an immense amount of material and data available but I admit it can become overwhelming. I was recently given a copy of Judith Draughon’s book “12 Fixes to Healthy” and as the sub-title states it is a wellness plan for life. The layout is simple, exceptional, easy to navigate and a treasure trove of information fully relevant to where I am physically and what I long to achieve in my diet in regards to good health. The check lists at the end of several of the chapters are a quick guide and keep the simple things that I need to be doing right there at my fingertips. This book feels as if a healthy lifestyle is doable, enjoyable, and flexible and am looking forward to implementing one fix at a time. If you need just 1 volume for healthy living and a go to guide for your library, this book is it. Will Roberts
I absolutely love "12 Fixes to Healthy!." It is full of wonderful and inspiring information, and is also explained in a way that is easy to understand. I'm heading off to college soon, and I look forward to applying the principles I'm learning like the importance of drinking more water, eating less sugar, getting good sleep, eating more fruits and vegetables and knowing which choices to make regarding food! I finished reading this book feeling very motivated to use these fixes everyday!
This book was the start to my weight loss journey. I appreciate being educated on why I eat or drink what and the science behind it. My RD prescribed this book to help get me started.
The author has done a fabulous job in writing this book for guidance to a better, healthier lifestyle! It's the perfect length! The 12 fixes are supported by scientific-based research and each of the 12 chapters correspond to the 12 fixes! Practical, clear and straight-forward to read! Each chapter ends with a short summary, and action plan (which I personally love because it inspires me to integrate them into my life... one at a time, so it's not overwhelming!) You don't have to read it cover-to-cover, but can jump straight into the chapter of interest or that is your current greatest need. Generally, we don't make changes until we have to, but why not care enough about yourself and your loved ones to make small, incremental changes NOW?
