When a Cowboy Loves a Woman is book two in the Creedence Horse Rescue Series by Jennie Marts. I fell so in love with the first book, A Cowboy State of Mind, that there wasn’t a second’s hesitation to dive into this one. I think this couple is probably the cutest couple I’ve read this year. These two were so perfect together.

Dr. Brody Tate is the town veterinarian in Creedence, Colorado. He is also a volunteer fireman, a widower of five years, and a single dad to the sweetest, most precious ten

This is a Cowboy Romance, and this is the second book in the Creedence Horse Rescue series. I have read and review the first book in the Creedence Horse Rescue series. I am really loving this series. Both the main characters (Elle and Brody) have lost their first love, and they are trying to learn to live and love again. I really loved this book, and I could not put this book down. I read this book all day today because I could not put it down. I loved the characters, and I loved all the animals ...more

A delicious read. I fell over the Brody precipse after reading black Stetson. Unashamedly, I drooled over him the entire book. He and Elle are well matched and once they sorted out their insecurities, they were on their way. The menagerie of mischievous animals stole the book. I loved the scenes with the pig and goat along with all the cute puppies. I think the author nailed the antics and meanness of preteen girls. I spent an entire afternoon happily reading about a hot cowboy. Time well spent. ...more

We are back in Colorado in this second book in this series, with another touching story.
This time the story belongs to widow Elle Brooks and widower and single dad, Brody.
Elle has been a widow for a few years after losing more than her husband that day. She stays mostly isolated and has just started making friends. One of them is Bryn, owner of a horse rescue ranch where Elle is now volunteering at. There she meets Mandy, a precocious and sweet 10 year old who is Brody’s daughter. This local vet

Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the electronic copy of When a Cowboy loves a Woman by Jennie Marts. I voluntarily agreed to read and review this delightful book prior to publication. My opinions are my own, and nothing has influenced my rating.

When a Cowboy loves a Woman is a well written western romance with an adorable heroine. The pacing kept me engaged from the beginning to the end. Ms. Marts gave me just enough description without going too far.

Elle Brooks is the heroine, and

This one is a winner! This is an entertaining romance between a widow and widower who both feel guilty for surviving and are afraid to love again. Their story is sweet, but also a bit sad and poignant. I felt for them and felt invested in their story. However, for me, the big winners in this book are the animals. I loved them and how their crazy personalities added humor to the book. While not humorous, my favorite animal character is Glory - the author made me want to reach through the pages to ...more

If you need a serious dose of sweetness and cute animals - this book is definitely your answer. Elle lost her husband and had a terrible miscarriage all because of the same car accident. In one horrible moment her whole world imploded and she's been struggling ever since. When she started to become friends with Bryn, who is a waitress and runs a horse/animal rescue, she started to find her way back to the land of the living. This includes meeting Brody. Brody lost his wife to cancer five years a ...more

When a Cowboy Loves a Woman is the second novel in Jennie Marts' Creedence Horse Rescue series, and I was eager to read it since I truly enjoyed the first novel in the series, and, as I now know, Jennie Marts doesn't disappoint, because I liked this novel as much as the first, and it gets the same 4.5-star rating from this reader.

The first thing you need to know about this deeply emotional and heartfelt novel is that it's about the loss of a spouse, two spouses, in fact. The hero, Dr. Brody Tate

Brody and Elle’s story is a sweet, tender second chance at love romance. I loved the flirty banter and teasing between them. Both have are very deserving of a second chance at love. Having both suffered the pain of losing a beloved spouse, both are understandably wary of giving into love again. Their hearts are still grieving, still tender, the pain less than it was but still very much present. For Brody, his adorable ten year old daughter, who seems far too wise for her years, is his reason to ...more

I feel bad for giving this a one-star review because I'm sure there are many people who will love this story, but I'm not one of them. Books can be a very personal thing, and I can acknowledge that it's a very personal reason why this was a one-star book for me.

Content warning for the book: miscarriage

I was looking forward to a good firefighter/vet/cowboy/single dad romance, but the pacing just felt off to me and it could have been much shorter than it was; I found myself skimming through pages

Elle Brooks relaxation is about to take a turn for the worst, first she hears sirens then smells the smoke. The smoke is coming from her house, and the sirens are outside her door. She makes a dash to grab a sentimental hand-knit blanket, when Dr. Brody Tate came to see her get out of the house safely.

Elle Brooks has lost her whole world in an accident, where she mostly hid from others in her home. Suddenly, she finds herself staying at her friend's Bryn's house, while she figures out what to do

"So we have to be brave for her until she can find the brave in herself." Mandy, age 10.
I love Ms. Marts' books with all of my heart. She makes me laugh, cry and think in all of her books. I always have at least one line in each book that resonates with me. The above line is just one that hit me in all the feels in this story.
Both Dr. Brody Tate and Elle Brooks have lost their spouses and are still reeling from those losses. Then Brody rescues Elle when her kitchen catches on fire. They then s

This was a cute, although a sometimes serious and sad, cowboy romance. I read the first book in the series and found this one to be much better than Zane & Bryn's story.

Brody and Elle are both widows. Brody lost his wife to cancer 5 years ago and it seems as though it's been a couple years since Elle lost both her husband and unborn baby in a car accident. Brody also has a tween daughter, Mandy. Both adults have pretty much avoided dating/relationships in those years, but when they meet and begi

When a Cowboy Loves a Woman by Jennie Marts is a Creedence Horse Rescue. Elle found herself a widow after the accident, and not quite a mother. She had tons of money from Ryan's insurance but it was almost a burden. She loved volunteering at the horse rescue. It was one bright spot in her life. One night she was soaking in a tub of hot water when she heard sirens. It was her house that was on fire. She had put a skillet on to heat up some grease and forgotten about it. Her kitchen was destroyed ...more

This is such a powerful, emotive read with humour, too. It is a contemporary romance in which the spouses of both main characters has died, leaving them somewhat bereft but don’t let you image it to be a heartbreaking read, it does pull on your heartstrings but there are plenty of light-hearted moments and times to laugh out loud, too.

A fire in her kitchen brings veterinarian Brody Tate into the life of Elle Brooks, when he lets her know that their mutual friend Bryn insists on Elle moving in wi

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I did read the previous book with Bryn and Zane but it has been a bit so I don't remember much and felt that I was ready this book as a stand alone and didn't feel like I was missing any details.

Both Brody and Elle have suffered the lose of a spouse and were fighting the attraction they felt as they seemed to think it was a betrayal to move on from their deceased loved one.

I like that this was a slow moving relationship and that they did not jump in

What can I say? Creedence just kind of grows on you. So, when I saw another one of the Creedence Horse Rescue series on Net galley, I just did a happy dance.

(In my mind, of course, wouldn't want anyone to catch me dancing with my e-reader, LOL). After we met Bryn in A cowboy state of mind, we already learned that Bryn collects strays. And she doesn't stop at animals. She also has taken Elle under her wing.

Elle has a hard time to start living again, after her husband died. She finds some happines

This new book in the Creedence Horse Rescue series is such a delight! I do not have the words to explain how much I loved this story. The characters definitely touched my heart. This includes the human and the animals in this lovely story. The two main characters have experienced severe lost in their past and that has affected how they have been living. It is wonderful to see them open up to a more fulfilling life in the future. The chemistry between them is strong, but more than that, the attra ...more

After losing her husband in a car accident, a fire in her kitchen is not that big of a deal for Elle Brooks. She still needs a place to stay during the repairs and can count on her good friend, Bryn, who welcome her at the ranch she share with her boyfriend. An advantage for Elle who volunteer at the Horse Rescue they have on the property.

A sweet story about letting go of the past and allowing yourself a second chance...

I enjoyed Elle and Brody's story. They are both widowed, and I thought their grief and hesitance to start over was written well and believable. Mandy, Brody's daughter, was adorable and fairly realistic; she *almost* made me miss having preteens around the house. (But not quite!) All of the animals of the Heaven Can Wait Horse Rescue were a hoot; together they had almost as much personality as the human secondary

Can I give this all the stars? From start to finish I really enjoyed this book and maybe it helped that was already introduced to this couple in the other book of the series. But it's a little more than that, these two really left me rooting for them and their HEA. Also, if you're looking for an emotional read this one is it. Chapter 6 had me in tears and then lifted back up. And those puppies had me tearing up too.

A beautiful, emotional, sweet one-sitting romance.

Guys, when I say my eyes leaked more than once, I absolutely mean it. I found myself welling up at the shared grief of Brody and Elle, and the relationship that developed between them—and with Brody's precocious 10 year old daughter, Mandy. The thing is, a strong message can always be found at the core of Jennie Marts' books—she is a writer with a talent for making her meaning clear without over-preaching it—and When a Cowboy Loves a Woman is no

My 4 star rating is for Mandy, the adorable and smart daughter of Brody. She was so engaging and well written, with nuances that showed both how intelligent she was, but also how vulnerable. When kids in stories are often used as either scenery or as an obstacle, Mandy was neither one. She was the star of this story, in my opinion.
I enjoyed the story overall, the writing is great, but I didn’t care for Brody, who I felt gave off very mixed signals to Elle, and she kept taking it. It was a lot o

When a Cowboy Loves a Woman is the second book in Jennie Marts Creedence Horse Rescue series and has a realistic and true-life storyline that draws the reader in and holds their attention till the last page is turned. I’m so pleased to get Brody and Elle’s story, with all the animals included. While reading Bryn and Zane’s story it was pretty apparent that Brody and Elle have much in common. Although they are both widowed and struggling with the suddenness of their partner’s deaths they are attempting to move on and live life. Leave it to a ten year old young lady to be the glue in their relationship. She made it almost impossible to keep the two apart and very difficult to ignore the love building between th ...more

I really enjoy this series of books by Jennie Marts. There is plenty of storyline and just enough romance. It isn't anything over the top, just a perfect blending of real life relationships with all of the typical ups and downs that real people experience.

This story involved Elle - who had lost her husband in a car accident and as a result also suffered a miscarriage. Brody lost his wife from cancer which left him as a single dad to Mandy. Elle and Mandy already have a close bond, but when Brod

Grab your tissues, this one's gonna make you cry!

Brody and Elle are kindred spirits, both having lost their spouses some years ago. These two are undeniably drawn to each other, but they're both so afraid of loving then losing someone again that they can't consider another relationship. Ah, but chemistry - along with a couple fires and a preteen daughter - don't give them much choice.

I loved the gentle, insightful writing here. The characters are beautifully developed with plenty of heart and au
