Engaging and honest. I couldn't put it down! I had so much to do this morning, but I stumbled on Renee Olivier's engaging memoir, and ended up reading all morning! That's a sign of a good book. To hear a woman's experience with a sociopath firsthand is so intriguing. She's honest and provides details and conversations that are so real. I know people who have ended up in relationships with people like this, and I breaks my heart to think of the tears and fear involved. Seeing the things Joe does ...more

No One Knew by Renee Olivier

I wrote this review based on an copy the author sent to me.
This is one book that I was definitely looking forward to reading but also slightly apprehensive being the true story of the author's actual life experience, knowing that as a woman, my emotions would be on alert feeling empathy for such a regretful episode in her life.

The book narrates the story of the author - divorced with two children when she met Joe. Joe, who appears to be the ideal, caring partner, show

No One Knew: My Emotional Journey of Being Married to a Sociopath and How I Learned to HealNo One Knew by Renee Olivier is scary account of the author's marriage to a sociopath.
She describes the harming but manipulative personality that undermines you and manipulates you and in the end you start doubting yourself. A scary yet insightful account that creates awareness and also helps identify and deal and then also heal with such persons. She describes the self doubts, her guilt and her trying to

This is an honest and raw novel about the author's previous relationship with a sociopath. It is so great that she has taken the courage to share her story to help bring awareness- maybe it will help others before they enter a relationship and/or help others who are in relationships with sociopaths find the courage to leave. It can be so easy to ignore the red flags and then find yourself in a situation similar to Renee's. Sociopaths are good charmers and they are great at the apologies after th ...more

This was a compelling true story about a woman charmed and lured down a path into an eight-year emotionally abusive relationship and marriage. As a person who has never experienced anything like this, I found myself thinking 'you in danger, girl', but Renee painted a detailed picture of how she saw the signs and ultimately looked past them. I'm saddest for the children in this story, but heartened that they will recognise sociopathic behavi

This is a true story about a woman who dated and married a sociopath which is a person with an antisocial personality. Sociopaths tend to blame others for their mistakes and Olivier was the target for lots of verbal abuse during her relationship with Joe.
After a 12 year marriage, she and her husband grew apart and they had an amicable divorce where they shared custody of their children Ryan and Emma. Renee had not been single in a long time and her friend suggested she try a dating website. Sh

I chose this book because somehow it spoke to me on an emotional level. We often think of a Sociopath as something extreme or how Renee puts it, a serial killer, but that is not always the case. She explains how she met a man who was charming but slowly became a nightmare by using techniques sociopaths use to draw you in so they can manipulate you.
Very well written, emotional and eye opening. This story really resonated with me because I had been in a similar relationship for much longer. It's

Trigger Warning: This book is not for the faint of heart. Renee Olivier details her life with her abusive and sociopathic (now ex) husband, as well as the impact it had on her children and the people around them. Some scenes made me physically ill not only because of how Joe treats "loved ones," but also how much he resembles my father (who I haven't spoken to in years). I felt like I was reading my entire childhood, and for the first time ever, someone understands the dominating power an abusiv ...more

An amazing story of being married to a sociopath. It was a real learning experience hearing of how a sociopath can twist everything. A great read.

Are you in a relationship or even a friendship with someone who makes rude and insulting comments and clearly gains pleasure from being cruel—then quickly adds "just kidding?" No One Knew, written by Renee Olivier takes us on her journey of a life married to a man with a toxic personality and the impact of how his constant berating led to her questioning her own sanity.

“I would never know what mood or mindset would greet me when he walked in the door. He would avoid direct questions and going a

Here is a novel of the most outstanding. I think it is important to read books in the same genre as this one. Because it deals with a very important subject, but it does it in depth. The author goes to the end of things even if it makes us cry. We won't hide it, it hasn't always been easy to read certain passages. But that means that the novel is well written if you go through a palette of emotions. That's what I recognize a good novel for my part. The character we are going to follow is worked ...more

This book tells the author story of being married to a sociopath. She gives enough detail to express every emotion she experienced while married. I'm glad she has shared her story for others to read. Not only to bring awareness, but to possibly give others in a similar situation the courage to leave. What the author went through, the red flags that were overlooked, and the fact that she would be "at fault", really hit close to home for me.

I read it continuously as it was important to find out the path this relationship was going. A true life account that hits home for most readers I suspect, maybe not for your own personal romantic relationship(s), but other relationships and/or acquaintances in your life.
A important distinction that is illuminated in the story is - that not all sociopaths are serial killers; however they are all destructive towards others emotions at the very least.
Thank you for sharing your story so that othe
