A rare mirror of God by is a collection of poetic verses, couplets, aphorisms, most of it in the form of a dialogue between a person, mountain, and God. As clear by the title, this collection is mainly focused on spirituality, the relationship between the creator and his creation, the shortcomings of humans, the grace of God, and the never-ending debate about faith, love, and the purpose of existence.

I really enjoyed reading this one, like seriously! All of these verses are really deep, and especially when you consider the context in which it is being told, it makes it even better and makes you ponder over it twice. I legit went through this book twice, it helped that it’s a short book, but even though it deals with the subject of spirituality and such, which can get a tad bit heavy in most cases, it really was a surprisingly delightful read. This might be the first book in a while that everyone at my home read and appreciated too.

I have to say, as is also mentioned in the starting lines of the book, the poetry in this one sure gives a glimpse of the ways of both Iqbal and Ghalib. Iqbal in its spirituality, and Ghalib in its quirkiness. Even though the verses are in both English and Urdu, the Urdu ones hit differently. So, if you have a thing for short and snappy, and wonderfully deep Urdu poetry, surely go for this one. You’ll definitely find yourself reading this book over again. Recommended.

Thank you Afzal Askari for the review copy of A Rare Mirror of God. I finished it in one sitting and it turned out beautiful and thought-provoking.

A Rare Mirror of God is a collection of poetry, aphorisms and conversation between Man and God.
An Excerpt from it:
"Man in its idiocy shun himself, in pursuit of purpose."

" عمر گزرگئ انسان کی تلاش مقصد میں
جب کہ بننا صرف انسان ہی تھا"

The author has penned down the dialogues between Mountain, Man, & God beautifully in this book. This book explores spirituality and relationship between Man and God. Although, poetry isn't my favorite genre, yet I really enjoyed reading this beautiful book. The verses of this book turned out quite eye-opening, thought-provoking, and deep. I did ponder over some couplets and search within myself the meaning of our creation, purpose, and the life we have been blessed with.
Brownies point: Author has written the conversation/poetry in english and urdu both. And the Urdu poetry turned out a cherry on top.
