The more put together someone looks, the more they have to hide.

The gorgeous brother of Rain’s gay best friend, Jet is polar opposites to his brother. When Jet decides to pursue Rain, she’s swept off her feet, but it is not a relationship about which either of their families are happy.

I feel like I’ve been waiting for this book to come out forever, and it didn’t disappoint. The dynamics and connection between characters in this story were woven beautifully. I laughed, I cried, I got angry, and I swooned. This story was everything it promised and more, and the bonus epilogue was cute. Sex: Yes. It’s hot, but written so well to work around the characters trauma. Plot: Rain is a survivor. After a brutal attack on her family, she has clawed her way back from the pits of hell to live her life to the best of her ability. Her relationship with her gay best friend is beautiful, but also twisted as a result of her tragedy. Both were impacted and both deal with that trauma the best they can. Then Jet enters Rain’s life, and the walls Rain built around her start rearranging themselves. Every character serves a purpose, and all of them are beautifully written and staged. World: This is a modern day setting set in What I presume to be Australia by the Summer Christmas connection. Recommend: without hesitation. This is a great romance with a HEA. There is some potential triggers when the characters reflect on their pasts, but the author has disclosed these clearly at the beginning of the book, so you can skip them and still get enjoy the book, however, I have to applaud the way Olson approached the counselling sessions. It was written brilliantly, and I think those two sessions with Dr. Lind would have scored this book 5 stars alone.
This was completely different to the books I usually read and i was pleasantly surprised. It was well written and a definite page turner! The overall story was that of Rain who had had a terrifying incident happen in her past and although I wouldn't class this as a dark romance the back story is certainly dark and may be a trigger for some people....so be warned! This was an emotional read and dealt with the aftermath of rape and murder and how that affects Rains life, there were moments where my heart was in my mouth and it really felt i was feeling her heartbreak right alongside her.....it was written that well by the author! I loved Rain as a character, to be honest all the characters were good, you could sense the chemistry between Jet and Rain and even the deep friendship with Aubrey. I would definitely recommend this book and will certainly be reading more from the author.
