This is a cute follow up to Dragon Consultant, in which the story has moved on five years and everything seems to be pretty much the same as where we left them after the first book – except that Lumie has grown a bit.

I did enjoy this nice easy read, but I’m also a little disappointed too. Five years is a pretty big jump, both in terms of Mercury and Dane’s relationship and life with the kits, as well as the other plot concerning kidnapped dragons and stolen magic. I know it gives Lumie and Alloy

I love the mix of feel good found family, romance, and supernatural mystery detective in this series. The world building is fabulous, and a little different, and the characters are coming into their own with this new story as the kits grow older, and we get to see Mercury at full power.

I’m enjoying Dane and Mercury’s relationship and how it’s progressed in the five years since the events of the last story. They feel very comfortable together, and their personalities fit and complement each othe

To start of this review I need to be honest and say this Novella was just not for me...

This book just dragged for me in parts so I really had a hard time finishing this.. I really did like the first book in this series so I was hoping to see more of the two MC's together to get a better feel for them as a couple. Well I just don't feel them together at all, for some reason these characters just did not connect with me. In other words I did like the characters in this series but I just did not f

I accidentally tripped over this series last fall when the cover of book one caught my eye. So cute and it was on an urban fantasy with baby dragons. Curiosity got the better of me and then whoosh, I was in full-on swoon for a new to me author and series. I couldn't wait to get another go with Dane, Mercury, and the dragon kids.

Book two picks up five years after book one. This was an interesting choice, but for me it felt like the events of book one were more recent save the fact that the guys a

The supernatural consultant, Dane, is back – and so are his partner, Mercury, and all their adopted dragon kits. The kits may be older now, but that doesn’t mean they are less likely to cause a mess or two. And with some of them teenagers, Dane and Mercury never know what to expect. Dane still runs his consultancy, now with the help of Nickel, an older water dragon kit with a definite talent for investigative work. Mercury has got a job with the FBSI and even though he is a simple analyst for no ...more

Short review only: I still loved the kits; but the rest, I was as detached as I was with the first book, with the couples or the mystery plot. I am going to pass the rest of the the books in the future, shall the series continues.

This is book #2, in the Supernatural Consultant series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers, and to understand the series, I recommend reading this series in order.

Dane is trying to find a family who is on the run. He needs to try and figure out where they might be before danger finds them first. It distracts him, but he still makes time for the eight other dragons who demand his attention.

Mercury, meanwhile, has a new partner at work. She is tough as nails and seems t

Dane and Mercury along with their brood of seven young dragons have all settled into their lives as a family. Still trying to find and rescue dragons takes up a lot of the men’s time. The rest of their time is riding herd on a bunch of rambunctious, over zealous, smart, scary, and not socially trained terrors. But they are precious, cute and loving.

I liked the story for its entertainment value but I have to say I was disappointed at the five year gap between the first book and this one. While th

Mell Eight manages to combine young adult and adult fiction flawlessly in Dragon Deception.

Deception takes place five years after Consultant and can be read as a standalone, but really what is the fun in not reading about everyone’s past? Everyone is five-years-older but not really wiser (laugh). Dane and Nickel (who is now 13-years-old) are working together on the civilian side to chase down the scientists and kidnappers of dragons.

Now here is where things get really interesting, Mercury is wo

Family of dragons fun

Dane and Mercury are 5 years on and closer then ever with 7 growing dragon kits to deal with.
Their also chasing up any lead to save anymore captured and tortured dragons.
This is a good installment moving us through looking to help more dragons.

This book dips back into Dean and Mercury's five years after book one and it's just as good. The author packs a lot of story into these few pages and I cannot wait to dive into book three to see what these amazing characters next adventure has in store for me.

Oh how I love these little dragons. 😉 Well, they’re not all exactly little anymore because a few years have passed since the end of Dragon Consultant. They’re still adorable though and they’ve turned into quite the little family.

Lumie is as frustratingly unpredictable as ever and he has a way of making things a lot more complicated than they need to be. He gets the job done… eventually though and to him, that’s all that matters. He definitely means well, which kind of makes up for all the chaos.

Had to start with Dragon Consultant book one in the series and then had to binge read all of them, currently on book 3. Dragon Deception is Book 2 and continues 5 years after book one. So the kits are all a little bit older and still very adorable. Dane and Mercury are great together even though there really was no romance involved in book 1 where they got together. It’ is totally the kits that make this series and the antics they get up to. Have to keep reading just to see how Nichel turns out ...more

Cute series. The story picks up about 5 years after the first. I didn't feel this five years though except with Lumie and Alloy. The other children have grown but they still don't feel 5 years older. I love that Mercury and his Kits are making dragons more "normal" in society. I love the kits but who wouldn't.

Overall the story is fun and interesting. The missing years was a bit of an issue. The story didn't develop the characters past the last book so it left the story feeling like no time had p

Alright this is what I like to see in progressive writing styles. I really enjoyed the first book and this was an excellent step forward.
It was a shaky start though as I personally don't like such huge gaps in timelines. But I will make an exception here. While I don't think it was necessary or even fit all that well, it atleast didn't detract from the story.
A few new characters of interest and ones I' m surprised to find I really want to see more of.

Cons: Plot is still just okay; new partner can be frustrating; wish the main relationship was developed more

Pros: Adult dragon gets to do something besides recover from flu; new partner; dragons; possible het side pairings; dragon kits

Final Thoughts: Still mostly okay, but I don't really feel like reading the next book even though that was the one I was looking forward to the most (like witches are cool)... Maybe read later.

This was just ok. There wasn't a big improvement in quality from the first book and the plot still felt very rushed with many things feeling forced into the plot. I'm not a big fan of starting books with large time skips without some kind of prologue to quickly fill in some details that would be nice to know before rolling into chapter one. The premise and idea for the book is still interesting enough for me to keep going with this series and hope the next books show improvement. ...more

I absolutely adored the first book in this series, and this second story is a cute follow-up that definitely satisfied my craving for more.

It’s been five years since the events in Dragon Consultant brought Dane and his dragon lover, Mercury together. Well…Dane, Mercury and a house full of rambunctious dragon kits. Dane is still kept busy as the top consultant for all things supernatural and Mercury has recently taken a job working for what is kind of the paranormal version of the FBI. Which puts

I am a little disappointed.. the 2nd book in the series was again short but a little boring.
It is 5 years later and we still don't get much of Dane and Mercury's relationship.
I'm only reading this series for the cute dragons. I hope the next one will be better.
