Can a world survive when choice is taken from the population? A post-apocalyptic take with a bold story line. The characters carry the story with ease. You can feel their emotions through the entire book. I wonder what is next for them all?

A superb dystopian tale

I'm a big Brooklynn Dean fan and was not disappointed with this latest offering. Mixing intellectual debate with pulsating action, she weaves a cautionary tale of an Orwellian future where the masses are misled and manipulated by a government machine dripping with malice and mystery. Is the Aftermath just around the corner in modern day America. Don't say you haven't been warned. A brilliant read.

Dean's best work yet! All of Dean's books are so different yet so captivating. Being a fan of dystopian fiction, I immediately had to read this after experiencing Dean's previous work. I absolutely fell in love with all of the characters, even those who were not main characters. It was as if I had been submerged into the lives of the Elites and the Citizenship. This is honestly my new favorite novel and I will be rereading again and again. ...more

Set in a dystopian future, Brooklyn Dean describes the future really well. We get a full picture of life under the rule of The Aftermath, and all of its control. The gap between the Citizenship and the Elites echoes beautifully our increasing gap in the current society between our class divides. The Elites behaving like most current influencers, having it all and not caring where it all came from.

The storytelling is patient, describing the world we are in and the emotions of the four main chara

My favorite thing about Brooklyn Dean's books is the way she gets you to think. She comes up with these brilliant takes on otherwise popular notions, like good vs evil, or the afterlife, or in the case of 2288, futuristic dystopia, and twists its arm behind its back, smashes it over the head with a beer bottle, knocks it down for the count, then covers it in glitter glue, props it back up and smacks it on the ass so you will have no choice but to sit up and take notice. Do not be fooled. 2288 is ...more

Entertaining read!

Interesting take on a future society and norms that developed over time. There was an interesting role that pharmaceuticals play that I wanted more of but overall it was a good book.
