Synopsis- I was raised to kill. The Old Man groomed us to be cold-cut hit-for-hires, to take lives without a question. I’ve lived that life for years, played with death quite a few times, and survived. Now I’m on a new path of life and experiences, the road to love. And just when I’ve got my heart set on a woman that I want, the life I left behind comes knocking. I will do everything that I can not to open that door, but when she’s put in harm’s way, there’s no question as to what I’m going to do. The only question is, will death finally win, or, for the sake of love, will I come out on top?
Wow... This book was the first I've read from this author and I loved it. Her writing style is so different from others I've read, totally unique and I am so glad I have this book a chance. Sanala is an amazing character and so perfect for Kente. He is a softie at heart and really just wants someone to accept him just how he is and she does just that. I do have top give a shout out to Tavis because he just did his thing and I love that. I'm definitely reading more by this author and you should too.
Great read, this should definitely be a movie. It kept me intested from beginning to end. Love Sanala and Kente together and Tavis is the man. I'm glad that Kente found what he was looking for at the end and the happiness he should of had all his life.
We meet Sanala and Kente in this action packed story. Kente wants to leave the life of crime behind when he meets Sanala, who has just gotten out of a bad marriage. They go out, like each other and begin a relationship, though it's very fragile. Kente's old life shows up, dragging him back into a dangerous situation, but this time it involves the threat of ending Sanala's life. Kente is full of rage and will do anything to protect her. The story is heart pounding at times and there is a mystery involved that, once revealed, catches you by surprise. There were a few grammar errors but nothing too major that the story could not be enjoyed. Overall, I'd certainly like to keep up with Kente and Sanala, if Ms. Arie chooses to continue their story. :)
First read by this author, and it was enjoyable. Had me captivated from the beginning, however, left me with a lot of questions as well. As much as I hate cliffhangers, I am hoping there is more to this story. Kente, was a good guy, who was dealt a hell of a hand with his upbringing. Sanala, getting away from her man child husband, and meeting Kente, was just what she needed. Together, they were easy, and the attraction was immediate. But, I need answers about Shareef, where is Antakari, and what happened to the old man? Good read! 👍👍
The beginning was going so well then everything kinda dragged when Shareef came with all her lies and put Kentè in more trouble. The editing was not well and need some work also. Some questions still was left unanswered and I’m not looking forward for another part. Even though Kenté character was very intriguing I’m ok with how it ended.
It definitely needed more spice but the plot was really good. There was some things that was skipped over and other things that was to drawn out and convoluted. But I will look for other books by this author.
