Growing up in a Christian home dictated by legalism and religious ideals, Dianne Leman set out to find something more than the fear of not being enough or doing enough to earn God's favor. In her search, she found that Jesus was bigger, better, and more beautiful than she had ever dared to dream--and it wrecked her for good.
In her faith-altering book, Leman guides believers out of Christian lives of doing into union with the Lord Jesus Christ that provides rest, freedom, delight, and grace that is not exhausting but exhilarating. This non-striving guide will help you
· lose your religion and strengthen your faith · pray in power · offer mercy to the "messy" people · and much more
Break the shackles of religion, and embrace the fruitful, fulfilling life with Jesus that you never thought possible.
Amazing book! The Holy Spirit spoke through Dianne Leman so beautifully and it has encouraged me to live my life in union with the Jesus and the Holy Spirit. BEAUTIFUL! ❤️❤️
The concept of Christ in me and I in Christ is a difficult one to comprehend. Yet Leman says it is the secret to the Christian life. It is the key to real change. While the truth of that union with God becomes a reality at salvation, it takes time and lots of trust to live it out. But it is not a striving to be like Jesus. It is living in the active reality of Jesus in me and I in Him.
Leman shares the lessons she has learned by living in union with God. She began to identify religion's demands and how they differ from true discipleship. She realized her priority in her journey. “Our faith is a relational faith first, a doctrinal faith second.” (60) She accepted the truth that believers no longer have a sin nature and explains it does not take a sin nature to sin. (Note Adam and Eve.) She came to appreciate the messiness of ministry.
Leman does not provide a step by step plan to learn to live in union with God. She suggests, “Your whole life can be wrecked for God.” (27) That is true transformation. There is no neat formula to follow. It will mean losing your religion and finding Jesus as the only way to live. It will be messy. But the fruit will be living into the person God has designed you to be – in Christ.
Leman's book did not answer all my questions about the mystery of Christ in me and I in Christ but it did give me much encouragement to choose to do all in union with Jesus. (121)

I recently finished Wrecked for God by Dianne, and I have to say, it’s a book that truly made me see the Bible in a whole new light. As someone who has been a Christian most of my life, I was both challenged and inspired by Dianne’s perspective. The way she presents Christ “in me” is transformative and has given me a deeper understanding of how Christ lives and works within us.
The book tackles some tough, but important, ideas, urging readers to move beyond traditional religious concepts and focus on the true essence of the Gospel. What I found particularly refreshing was the practical guidance throughout the book, which helps translate these deep spiritual truths into actionable steps for everyday life.
Dianne’s writing style is accessible and personal, almost as if she’s sitting across from you, having a heartfelt conversation. I loved how she blended scripture with scholarly quotes, offering a solid foundation for her ideas without overwhelming the reader. If you’ve been feeling disillusioned by superficial Christian teachings, this book will offer a refreshing and substantial perspective.
This book has given me new insight into my faith. I plan to reread this again in order to review the powerful truths that are presented in this work. A beautiful, thought-provoking read that I highly recommend for anyone seeking a deeper connection with Christ and a fresh lens on biblical truths.
Four stars – a wonderful book with some truly impactful lessons, there is always room for further reflection and growth!
I’ve been a Christian my whole life, and I found myself underlining and dog-earring pages, struck by the power and truth of Dianne’s words presented with a new understanding of old Biblical truths. Not only was the content great, with plenty of quotes from the Bible and other scholarly works to back up her words, but the style was conversational, as if we were having a long chat over coffee. If you’re sick of Christian fluff and craving something relevant and substantial, I definitely suggest checking this one out.
This book was not my cup of tea. Maybe that’s because I have a conservative background, and this author comes from a different angle. I think she went too far in some of her statements, which turned me off. However, some from more charismatic backgrounds may appreciate her fervor and passion more than I did.
I received a preview copy of this book from the publisher.
Each chapter gave our church group great discussions!I especially liked the part about seeing the sacred in the secular as that’s something God has been bringing up to me the past year
