A sizzling new romance about a firefighter who reunites with an old flame and tries to rekindle the passion they once felt.

When firefighter Kal Donovan transfers to the Tactical Rescue Team, he's determined to succeed by giving work one hundred percent of his attention. This proves more difficult at his ten-year high school reunion when he runs into Hannah Clark, his first love. She's still the smart, funny, beautiful girl he loved in high school, but everything has changed. She's divorced, has a son, and has zero interest in exploring an old romance.

Hannah has moved back home after a disastrous end to a marriage that never should have been. Now her only focus is getting her hair salon up and running, and making sure her son is happy. She doesn't have time for love--especially not with Kal. She intends to look forward, not backward, and Kal is most definitely part of her past.

However as Hannah and Kal start spending time together, Hannah realizes that what she's feeling for him isn't nostalgia, but red-hot attraction. Kal's intent on showing her what it's like to be cared for, romanced, and consumed with passion--and Hannah loves it. But she wonders if she has the courage to risk her heart again, even as Kal vows not to lose her a second time.

Firefighter Kal Donovan has gotten his much coveted transfer to the Tactical Rescue Team, leaving his brothers at Station 16. It’s an adjustment but he’s loving it despite some issues with a couple of teammates. He has even more life changes when he attends his 10-year high school reunion and reconnects with his old girlfriend, Hannah Clark. Despite the years, their old feelings resurface and they begin dating. Hannah is not long divorced and has a 7-year old son, Oliver, so she’s a bit gun shy about being in another relationship.

I liked everything about this story! Kal is the last of the three brothers to find someone with whom to share his life and Hannah was the perfect choice. Her caution was realistic and mature given the disappointments of her marriage and ex-husband. Their romance ended up being special, including Kal’s heartwarming connection with Oliver. Kal’s work issues were also understandable and I like how they played out. Plus, there is significant time spent with characters from the earlier books, particularly Kal’s brothers Rafe and Jackson. It was if their stories were continued here, connecting very nicely with this one.

I’ve enjoyed this series and it ended in a good place with an epilogue that wrapped everything neatly and wonderfully. I loved how it promoted foster care and later adoption of older children and the opportunities to positively change their (and the adopting parents’) lives. So often we hear about the failures so it was uplifting to get a different point of view. The narrator delivered a strong performance, distinguishing characters well and handling the male voices adeptly. I’m glad I chose to listen to this series as it enhanced my reading experience.

This is a Second Chance Romance with some steamy parts, and this is the third book in the Brotherhood by Fire series. I have not read the first two books in this series. I enjoyed this book, and the characters where very developed to me. I really wanted to keep reading to see these two characters love story. I love when books as a single mother find love again, and the new love treats the single mother's kid really well. This book does that really well. I found the storyline was really good. The two main characters (Hannah and Kal) of this book had chemistry, and I really enjoyed seeing them learn to trust each other. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Berkley Books) or author (Jaci Burton) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

I really enjoyed this book. I read the first two books in this trilogy last year so I was pretty excited to read Kal's story and it did not disappoint. This is the third book in the Brotherhood by Fire trilogy which I would recommend reading in order if at all possible since the couples from the previous book play roles in this story. I had a great time reading this second chance romance.

Kal and Hannah were high school sweethearts. They broke up when Kal left for college but they both really cared for each other. Kal went on to become a firefighter while Hannah got married and had a child. Hannah's marriage is over and she is back in town with her son. Both Kal and Hannah decide to go to their high school reunion and quickly find that the spark that they had is still there.

I loved Kal and Hannah and thought that they were perfect for each other. Kal was incredibly patient and willing to take things at Hannah's pace. I loved the way that he included Oliver, Hannah's son, in activities as often as possible. Hannah really wanted to rebuild her life and wasn't sure how a relationship would fit in but she couldn't seem to resist Kal. I loved the chemistry that they had with each other and I thought that their personalities really just seemed to fit.

I would recommend this book to others. It was really easy to fall for these characters as they fell for each other all over again. I definitely plan to read more of Jaci Burton's work in the future.

I have been sitting on the previous two books in this series so I could binge them all when the third and final book released. Three brothers, not by blood but through the connection forged when living their young lives on the streets, are all saved from a house fire and then adopted by the fire fighter who saved them. The blub of dreams I hear you say, and believe me I felt the same way, until I started reading.

The first book was enjoyable enough, I did find myself questioning the amount of page space being wasted on the lengthy descriptions of daily life, cooking and cleaning have never played such a big part in a book before that I can recall, by the middle of book two I realized that it wasn't a one off and the sexy times thrown in for good measure would not make up for the lack of a decent story-line. I mean seriously how many times can you write pages on what's being eaten, how it was prepared and cooked, and then follow that up with a lengthy paragraph or three on how they cleaned up the kitchen afterwards. Extolling the virtues of a man who knows his way around the kitchen and cleaning up after himself is great the first time, but constantly and through all three books not-so-much!

I absolutely adored the author's Hope series and reading those books in succession did not feel like the author had rolled out the same thing time and time again, but this series was an exercise in mediocrity, don't get me wrong you need the day-to-day as much as the relationship building in any romance but all three books relied far too heavily on the mundane and the rest was added in sparsely just to keep things rolling along from one meal and clean up to the next.

Nothing like I have come to expect from Jaci, and really disappointing, the bones of this series were solid and expectations for three really heart-felt, emotional, and sexy stories were completely off the mark.

I am loving this Brotherhood! Kal and Hannah’s story was a beautiful second chance romance that put a smile on my face and warmed my heart.

I am sometimes skeptical with a second chance romance. Is it going to be angsty, full of drama reliving past hurts, saying “I’m sorry” over and over again? Well, there was very little of this in All Consuming. Both Kal and Hannah accepted the past and dealt with it. Hannah knew her marriage was a mistake and Kal knew that he let the best thing that happened to him get away. Now, it was time for Kal to prove to Hannah that he learned his lesson and that his love didn’t fade away. And, Hannah had to decide if she would trust, not only her heart but that of Oliver’s, wouldn’t be broken again by the only man that ever held her heart.

I truly enjoyed watching Kal win Hannah over and how he interacted with Oliver. She made him a better man, helped him through his struggles and decisions within the firehouse and the home he shared with his brothers. Did he make some missteps? Of course. Did she have some panic times? Of course. But, in the end, they both knew that it was inevitable that their lives weren’t complete without the other in it.

The characters in this series were all written with one thing in common … big hearts. If you have read the series from the beginning, you know their past and how heart-breaking it was. But they each made something of themselves with the loving help of wonderful step-parents. Parents that were there to guide them, to love them and help them. They encouraged them to face their past and look forward to the future. Why do I bring this up? They were the cornerstones that saved these three wonderful men from the fire that could have consumed them. They were always in the back-ground but always a part of this series.

Jaci Burton truly engrossed me in this series with the way she told each of their stories. They were all different, yet the same. She made us understand their trial and tribulations and showed us what a little love, lot’s of encouragement and hard work can get you. She wrote strong men with even stronger woman at their sides. She highlighted their past and wove it into their futures. She brought each of her characters full circle and made us proud of the men that they became.

Independent single mom reunites with high school love…

This second chance romance had all the feels as the Donovans were officially back! Kal’s brothers had found love and meeting Hannah again at their high-school reunion seemed like fate. She was single again, with a super cute kid, looking to start over on her terms. Love wasn’t in the plan but than life is always about the unexpected…

Their story was steeped in family and tentative steps. Love was wonderful but what if it didn’t work? Or someone was scared to try? Or an ex was complicating things too much? Or a job was too dangerous? Well, you get the idea. While there were no crazy highs or lows, the problems they faced provided more than enough drama causing the temperature to percolate on simmer. There doesn’t always have to be huge gestures or wild twists to make love good and this even-tempered story showcased that perfectly…

With an epilogue providing the just ending with all the feels, my heart was more than happy… ~Diane, 3.5 stars

Well. Here we are. I’ve read a couple of Jaci’s other books and they never really work for me, but I keep trying.

I liked Hannah and Kal. They’re both good, loyal people. I liked their history and how the relationship progressed. There are a good amount of characters, but they added a lot of dimension to the story.

Plot wise, it was a bit boring. Scenes and phrases were repetitive and the few things added as conflict didn’t hit the mark. It was a lot of inner monologue, a lot of push and pull, and a quickly wrapped up resolution. Even Kal’s super exciting job came across as bland.

Overall, even though I liked the characters, I think this author just isn’t for me.

Here we are finally at Kal's book. I have to admit from the first book I liked him. For me, he was the sweetest of the brothers. Just an all-around good guy. One you know will have your back when you need him too.

You get a good idea of Kal since he was in both his brother's books. In his own book, he comes into his own. He is no longer working with his brothers he's not at another station. It works for him to be a little independent of them. Most of the time when a character shows up in other books by the time they get to their own you see some growth of said character but with Kal, you don't really have that because he's such a great, easy-going guy.

Can you tell I really like him?

Now Hannah is a new character so she's the one I wanted to know more about. I liked how she stood for her son and did what was best for him. She's a good mom. I think my only issue with her and it's a small one is that she is so focused on being independent of everyone that she's missing out on what could be.

Sometimes we need to stand back for a second and figure out why we can't see what makes us happy until it hits us upside the head.

It might have taken a while for these two to find each other again but when they did you see how much they still care for each other. Sometimes first love is the only love you'll have. You'll also love Hannah's mom and son. Both are wonderful characters on their own.

This is a wonderful story that is what I'd call a comfort read. It just all worked so well and I enjoyed it so much.

Jaci Burton has returned with another book in the Brotherhood by Fire series with ALL CONSUMING. If you have been following this series, this is Kal Donovan’s book.

Kal is one of my favorite heroes in this series so I was excited to finally get his story. His heroine is Hannah and she turned out to be a sweet woman that was perfect for him. I see Kal as “one of the boys” type of hero who is both manly and charming. His level of respect for Hannah was something that I really liked. Even though he was proactive in his pursuit of her, he never pushed her too hard because of busy life. In the end, I found the romance to be sweet and satisfying.

I enjoyed the details that Burton put in about firefighting. It’s mostly in the beginning or extra scenes where they really make an impact, but I think it complements the rest of the story which can be more slow-paced. With the firefighting details interspersed with this sweeter romance, you get something a little more exciting.

If you like a second chance romance, then this might hit the spot for you. Charming with sweet and sexy scenes thrown in, I think Burton did a good job with this one.

I gave up at 40%. It was fine. Everything was....fine. But there was nothing to make you care, or be invested, or even drive the plot. It was just...fine. I would start to read and then move on a chapter later

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the third book in the series, and I think you can read it as a standalone, although having the background to how the brothers grew up and their life with the Donovans changed everything for them is worthwhile.

Kal has just transferred to the Tactical Team, and so we get some really hairy situations that they have to deal with - reminding us just how dangerous the life of a firefighter can be, and how it is not just fires which require their expertise and courage.

Hannah is very jaded about love, her ex-husband did a number on her confidence and she is just fine spending her time with her young son, Oliver. But at her ten year High School reunion she sees her first love, Kal. It is clear from the first moment that Kal is going to do everything he can to find what he felt before with her, but she is going to have to change a lot of her rules to believe in an HEA.

It is lovely watching her feel more comfortable with him, and renewing her friendship with the rest of the family. Obviously Oliver is a key part of the growing love in this pairing and Kal does not disappoint. The Donovan parents have every right to be proud of the boys that they raised - and are definitely enjoying the happy lives they now have with women who love and support them.

I have enjoyed all these stories, and the mix of excitement due to their careers, and the risks which firefighting can bring which impacts on them having good, secure, loving relationships.

A reconnection of high school sweethearts at their ten-year High school reunion and some personal growth lead to a HEA in Jaci Burton’s newest release, All Consuming.
💗
This is a sweet story about a second-chance romance but this time around, all grown up. The thing about being an adult is there are always some life complications. But, love is patient. And Kal knows that Hannah is worth waiting for this time around.

Trigger warning: recollection and discussion of child homelessness, child abandonment, child abuse, and domestic abuse.

I think this was my favorite of the 3 so far. I liked how easy things were between Kal and Hannah, of course a lot of that was due to them have a history. It was nice that they could look back at things with fondness and even talk about their break up.

As they got to know each other as adults there was still the chemistry. I liked how much teasing each one got over seeing the other and how Oliver was included in things. He was never shoved to the side and Hannah did a great job of talking to Oliver about things when Oliver was ready.

I liked how this one ended, loved knowing they all were happy living their lives.

I'll be honest - I'm really into this series for the family dynamics and all the brotherly love and support and their simply amazing parents . The romance in this was fine, and it was a perfectly enjoyable read. Seriously though, Burton could just write books about the family and the boys and leave romance out of it and I'd still be happy.

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this book! Kal and Hannah’s journey to HEA was chock full of heart, love, passion and emotion. It is a second chance for them as they were once high school sweethearts. Neither of them had any idea how attending their 10 year reunion would change their lives forever in the most wonderful of ways. Kal is rescue worker and is positively swoony. He is selfless and so loving and family oriented. The swoon factor reaches super high levels whenever he interacts with Hannah’s young son Oliver. Watching him fall in love with both Hannah and Oliver is such a joy. So much love there. Unfortunately Hannah is a little jaded by love and the prospect of forever after the failure of her marriage to Oliver’s father, so it isn’t easy for her to give herself over to it. But Kal is a patient man and head over heels for her.
I love their story and the way things turn out for him, Hannah and Oliver and for his brothers as well. Great book!

All Consuming by Jaci Burton is the 3rd book in her Brotherhood by Fire series. Kal Donovan, our hero, is the third & youngest brother in this series. All three Donovan brothers are very close and are fireman; but Kal transferred to the Tactical Rescue Team, determined to win his teammates trust with his abilities. Kal decides to attend his 10-year high school reunion, and to his surprise, he runs into his high school girlfriend, whom he left behind years ago.

Hannah Clark, has returned home after a divorce, with a young son (Oliver) and living with her mom. Hannah meets up with her friends at the High School reunion and is shocked when she sees Kal, the boy she loved years ago. Hannah is not interested in rekindling their old romance, as she is focused on taking care of Oliver.

Best laid plans usually do not work out, as Kal and Hannah start spending time together, rehashing old memories, with both just being friends. Kal loves being with Hannah and Oliver, and despite their determination to being friends, the chemistry between is red hot, and soon they will act on their feelings, being friends with benefits. Hannah has sworn that she will not allow herself to have her heart broken again, even if Kal decides he wants something more permanent.

In between this romance, it was great to see the many exciting technical rescues that were real or just training. I also loved the relationship with Kal and his family, and how nice Hannah & Oliver fit in. It was great to see both brothers, and their wife/fiancée. Hannah was a wonderful heroine, and you could not help care about her and her son. She allowed herself to fall in love again with Kal, but she was set in her promise that she will not go further.

All Consuming was a sweet second chance steamy romance that was very well written by Jaci Burton. I loved Kal and Hannah, as they made such a great couple, not to mention Oliver, who was great. We did begin to worry, as we rooted hard for their relationship to move to a permanent one. Jaci Burton always writes wonderful romances, and All Consuming was another fabulous story that you should read.

The third book in the Brotherhood by Fire Series is full of heat and love. Kal Donovan has transferred to the Tactical Rescue Team where he is determined to succeed. He attends his ten-year high school reunion when he reunites with his first love, Hannah Clark.

After a disastrous marriage Hannah has moved back home to raise her seven year son Oliver and getting her hair salon up and running. Her only interest right now is taking care of her son and getting the business started -- that is until she sees Kal again. The old sparks return with even more heat.

But as Hannah and Kal spend more time together Hannah starts feeling like she will make the mistake of depending on Kal and fall into the pitfalls she experienced in her marriage. But Kal shows Hannah what it feels like to be truly cared for if she will allow herself to accept it.

This is the third book in the series and each is about a different brother. I do feel each can be read as a standalone, but then you would miss the back story on how the brothers grew up.

Kal has just joined the Tactical Rescue Team and wants to be part of the team, more like family in the way they work together. When he gets an invite to his high school reunion, he wonders if his high school girlfriend will be there. They split when he went off to college, but he never forgot her.

Hannah loved Kal in high school, but when he left for college she wasn't staying in town. She left, got married, and had a kid. Now she is back home and divorced. Seeing Kal at the reunion has stirred up those old feelings. She doesn't want to jump into another relationship. She wants to make it on her own for a while.

Can Kal make Hannah see that he loves her and wants what is best for her and her son? Will Hannah give Kal a chance to show her that his love is real? Will they get the happily ever after that started back in high school?

I really like this series and can't decide which brother I like best. Each one has their own strengths and a woman that will bring them to their knees. This story has all the feels that make it good. It will have you laughing one minute and ready to cry the next. If you are looking for firefighter brothers who love hard and fall in love harder, then this series is for you.

Avid Reader – ☆☆☆
M/F Second-Chance Romance

Kal loves his job. Working in the Tactical Rescue Team is exciting and challenging. Despite his co-workers being buttheads, Kal enjoys this new environment. The dating scene is a little tiresome for him though. He wants what his brothers and dad have. He wants a family.

Hannah is home to pick up again and dust herself off. After a divorce, she knows that her son, Oliver, needs some stability. Living with her mom, while not ideal, is just what they both need.

When Hannah and Kal meet up again, their chemistry is just as powerful as it was when they were kids. Now, though, they have more life experience to help guide them. But old fears creep in, relationship insecurities fight to take center stage.

These two want to find their happily ever after, but can they over come their past? This is a sweet, second-chance romance. There isn’t a lot of angst and you’ll get a happy ever after, but the book is just a little flat. It’s an easy read, but nothing truly jumps out and happens. It’s predictable and calm.

I LOVED this book. It's my favorite of the Brotherhood by Fire Trilogy. I was extra excited to read Kal's story. Then, I was disappointed that it was a high school sweethearts second chance romance because that isn't typically a go to trope of mine, but it worked wonderfully. Burton is a master of weaving story plot and creating characters that I came to care about. As an adoptee, it was also wonderful to find a book with an adoptee in the wild. While Kal is adopted, that is not the main driver of the story, but neither is it ignored. Burton handles the difficult topic with care.

Continuing from the second book, Kal wanted to and now has joined the TRT where he is meeting all expectations from his boss but getting slack from some of his coworkers due to his fathering being high up in the firefighter hierarchy. Hannah just moved back home to regroup after divorcing her ex, Landon. She and her son, Oliver, are staying with her mother. Kal and Hanna used to date in high school, but they broke up with Oliver when away to college. They reconnect at their high school reunion and start hanging out. Hannah is adamant about not dating when she has Oliver and after her experience with Landon, but she can only ignore what she has with Kal for so long.

I really wanted to love this book. Like I really did, Kal's book was the one I was the most excited for and I thought for sure it would be my favourite. Unfortunately it wasn't. I felt like you found out so many things right at the beginning that made it feel like there was no real reason to keep reading. Like with most second chance romances finding out why the couple broke up in the past is a key part of the plot whereas in this one we found out their history right away. Same with Hannah's history with her ex. Like we knew it all in the first 50 or so pages so I didn't feel like I needed to keep reading because I could see where we were going. I predicted the third act conflict but in my head it was so much more fleshed out. I feel like so much happened in this book and yet at the same time nothing happened. Everything that happened happened so fast that it didn't feel like a fully formed idea. Which is why so much happened but each event took only a few pages so I felt like I was missing out. I'm realizing now that this author probably isn't for me but I did enjoy this series a fair bit overall.

I am all about the second chance romance and seeing high school sweethearts reunite filled me with glee. I enjoyed this series. I loved the idea that this group of homeless kids formed a family, and now we got to see them find their partners and add to the family. Burton did such a beautiful job with the ending too. Lots of closure for my closure-loving heart.

This is a lovely, sweet second-chance romance. It has the smoking hot sexiness that we love from Jaci Burton, so don’t worry about that. Kal and Hannah were likeable, and their growing love was believable and nice. They made a great couple, especially when you add her young son in the mix. I liked when all the brothers and friends got together with their fun banter. It was a nice romance, but it felt like I was eavesdropping instead of being pulled into the story.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
This is the third book in the series and each is about a different brother, I do feel each can be read as a standalone but then you would miss the back story on how the brothers grew up.
Kal has just joined the Tactical Rescue Team (TRT) and wants to be part of the team, more like family in the way they work together. When he gets an invite to his high school reunion, he wonders if his high school girlfriend will be there. They split when he went off to college but he never forgot her.
Will they get the HEA that started back in high school?
I really like this series and can't decide which brother I like best. Each one has their own strengths and a woman that will bring them to their knees. This story has all the feels that make it good. It will have you laughing one minute and ready to cry the next. If you are looking for firefighter brothers who love hard and fall in love harder, then this series is for you.

Sweet second chance romance. I enjoyed the last of this trilogy of brothers in a made family, now all three brothers got their HEA! It was fun to watch Kal and Hannah grow together again, though I don't think Kal ever had far to go. Hannah was more resistant after coming out of a bad marriage and being a single mom, but Kal won her over eventually. Loved seeing the whole crowd again.

I listened to the audio of this and enjoyed Lynn Barrington's narration.

This was almost as good as the first. Rafe was fantastic and Hannah was very likable. I loved reading about them at work as well as a couple and as parents.

Kal Donovan
Hannah MacKenzie Clark

Kal and Hannah were High School sweethearts, they broke up when Kal went to College. Hannah got married, moved away, had a son Oliver, divorced and moved back home. Kal got through College, became a Firefighter and is now the new person on the TRT team, a special rescue group within the Fire department. They reconnect at their 10 year reunion. The chemistry is back and they navigate the relationship problems as they discover that both of them have changed but basically stayed the same. Oliver is a good secondary character, he’s a fun and resilient little boy and loves having Kal around. Kal has problems on his new job with a couple fellow firefighters. Hannah is busy trying to grow her Salon business as well as dealing with her ex. This is a good, fast read and a nice final book in the series. I would definitely read more books by this author.
