Rockers' Legacy #5

Wanting Shaw

Rate this book
Just the sight of her is enough to make my mind go blank.

Shaw Cage doesn’t know the power she has over me, and I can never let her find out.

She’s my best friend’s sister, and her brother and I made a pact—our sisters were off-limits.

As much as I wanted her, I could never have her.

Until I realized Cannon was unworthy of my loyalty.

Realizing my mistake came too late.

I’d already let Shaw down too many times.

But I am Emmie Armstrong’s son.

I won’t let anything stand in my way of getting what I want most.

2 ⭐⭐ - Meh!
================

I rolled my eyes so hard I almost saw my ass! LOL!

And as much as I wanted his sister, I wasn’t willing to ruin our friendship.

Shaw was replaceable. So why did the thought of kissing any other chick turn my stomach?

If she hated me, then I didn’t have to worry about what we had ending my friendship with her brother. We could both move on and forget about our mind-blowing kiss. She could find someone else who actually deserved her, and then I’d be forced to do the same.

After what he’d done to her, he’d lost my respect, but more than that, he’d lost my loyalty and love.

Even if by some miracle I did, it wouldn’t matter because whatever we might have been able to become was over. After what he’d done, setting me up to find him kissing someone else, I didn’t want anything to do with him. He’d tried to break my heart and make me hate him. And he had succeeded.

Now, this girl from my past, a girl whose name I’d forgotten, was standing just inside my new apartment, and I knew in my gut if Shaw knew my history with her, she was going to run.

This is one of favorite authors and most anticipated books, but the last two books in this series are not very good.
I struggled with the fact that the best friend is in the book every 2 pages. It felt like it wasn’t as much about this couple. More about the last heroine.

I can’t even believe I’m going to say this because I love drama, but this book was a never ending stream of teenage drama. It was just to much. The h and H both use very cliche sentences which made me roll my eyes more then once.

I missed the alpha male hero, last few books it was all about the bad ass strong girls and lapdog boys who fuck up. Then they grovel, which I love, but I learned today that there is a point where I need them to alpha up again. Him trying to make up and her not forgiving became old.

I also didn’t like the double standard in violence to one another. The h brother really messes up big time, is violent to one of the girls, and ofcourse he should pay for that. But the only thing the parents do is ship him off. He showed some really messed up behavior and if that was one of the girls they probably would have sent her to the best psychiatrist there is. They just shipped him off to military school and proceeded to make fun of him and hurt him wherever they could and even laugh about him missing out. The whole family does. That seems messed up to me. The h in this book is repeatedly violent toward the Hero but there are no repercussions for that. It’s 2020, violence from both sides shouldn’t be tolerated.

This book was a huge disappointment. Over the past few years I've struggled with Terri Anne Browning's work, especially as she moved into the Legacy series. 'Wanting Shaw' represents a lot of those continual issues.

Most of the Legacy series books represent a move to the Young Adult (YA) category which Browning seems to really struggle with. She has always handled drama and narrative twists + turns with grace in her earlier works, but seems to have a problem when applying this same style to YA. Young adulthood is a unique time for people, and good YA authors can speak to the emotional spikes and age-specific issues without making it seem melodramatic. Unfortunately, our heroine seemed incredibly melodramatic and immature with very little justification. She seemed to be making problems for herself for no reason, which really made my ability to connect to her impossible.

While Browning has been really talented in the past with writing individual books that take place in the same time and space as other books, Wanting Shaw didn't seem like its own book. It seemed like an unnecessary novella for Violet and Luca's book. Especially since Shaw based SO MUCH of her own romantic decisions on the trajectory of Violet's romantic experiences, it seemed useless and hollow.

The two stars are for Jagger.

Shaw was annoying af. Her running away got tiring at some point. I’m 87% in and she’s still running. Also, the first half of this book seemed like it was more abour Luca and Violet than it is about Jagger and Shaw.

Wanting Shaw was the fifth book in the Rockers Legacy series by Terri Anne Browning. The series was a spin off from her original Rockers series.

Shaw Cage was the daughter of Axton and Dallas Cage (book seven, original series). She had followed in her mother’s footsteps and had become one of the worlds famous super models at a young age. She was beautiful and feisty. Jagger Armstrong was the son of Emmie and Nik Armstrong (book one, original series). He too had followed in his father’s footsteps and was an up and coming Rocker. They had grown up together with both their dads as famous rockers in Demon’s Wings and OtherWorld. And they both secretly - or not so secretly - crushed on each other for years. But Shaw was off limits. Jagger and his best friend, Cannon, had an off limits pact regarding their sisters and Jagger had worked hard to keep that pact.

Browning started us off early with Jagger and Shaw both in high school and took us through the years showing the development and the push and pull between the two. The storyline aligned with the previous book, Loving Violet, since Shaw and Violet were best friends. I liked Jagger, a lot. And at times I liked Shaw, but in the end she was just too whiny for me. I understood her reasoning at first, but that reasoning only lasted so long and she outlasted it ten times over and for too many years. I still liked the series, but this just wasn’t my favorite. But to each his own and this may resonate well with others.

Needing Arella is up next and I can’t wait to see where Browning takes us through Jordan and Arella.

My rating: 3 stars.

What I liked: I really liked the H. Yeah he made a couple of mistakes but that was just fear of losing her. He is a really a great H.

What I didn’t like: The h and how she kept pushing the H away. It really got old especially in the middle. I struggle keeping my attention because of all the push and pull. I also hate when books have a time gap. Yeah it was only 15 month but I felt it was unnecessary.

How hot was it: 2 out 5

Triggers: Side character was cheated on. Also, side character with suicide thoughts.

Final thoughts: Like I mention above this book was a struggle to get through. I just wished the h didn’t push him away so much. I also didn’t like the time gap especially since all she had to do was let him explain when it happened and since she did run, why did he wait 15 months to explain it to her. I definitely will continue to read this series.

I really want to say, that I liked this story, but...
I hate when either H or h, chickens out, when need to share something.
Jagger was trying really hard to win Shaws trust after his mistake. Which is related to her brother. Short story, bro code not to touch each other sisters and all. And despite Jaggers strong feelings for Shaw, he picked Cannon, her brother.
But from that moment, sh¡t hit the fan, that touched a couple people. And Jagger learned, that he choose wrong. So, like I said, he worked hard to get Shaw.
And he was doing pretty good job. Shaw was starting to loose her fear. I loved how Jagger fought for her, for 'us'. But one thing happened and he messed up again. I wanted to smack him. He was so scared to loose Shaw, that he picked to lie, instead of telling the truth. How he didn't understood, that when he choose to lie, that is the moment he lost her.
I really disliked, how after the incident people, like Vi, Shaws and Jaggers mothers, started to make it, like him lying wasn't a big deal and she was overreacting. They twisted it, like it was her fault and he was innocent one.
Instead of going, yes she may overreacted because of her fear to be hurt, but also, Jagger was wrong lying to her, even though it was of fear to loose her and hopefully he learned from it. Also she needed to give him a chance and hear him out, after they both calmed down.
Like, that was not enough, soon after another misunderstanding happened between Shaw and Jagger. This one was boths fault. Both should had reacted differently.
Honestly, I wasn't sure if I wanted to cry or hit the wall by then. Lol
And after the whole rollercoaster, when Jagger and Shaw made up, I was... Not sure how to explain it, but I felt numb to their reconciliation. Like all my emotions where drained.
PS God, that part about Violet... It hit as hard and painful as reading in previous book up front.

This was the book that would not end

Let me start out by saying that I have loved everything I have read from this author, some of them were a hate- love relationship; but love nonetheless. This book however, I just hated it. I kept reading it, hoping to find the love; but alas, there was none. First of Jagger was barely grown (chronologically and emotionally) to make soup let alone decisions on love. He got better through the book, but I still want a fan. She was a spoiled little bitch and I hated her. There was no give with her, just take. Honestly if this is what the 2nd gen stories are going to gravitate toward, I'm done with this author.

Having enjoyed the first series I was hoping this would be equally as good . Sadly this was not the case , I think it was more aimed at a teenage reader base . Shaw I found rather childish and tedious and quite frankly if I was Jagger I think I would have said good riddance when she kept running off ! I struggled through it but was relieved when I could move on to a more adult read.

I really wanted to give it 1.5 stars. Doesn't really deserve 2. I really disliked this story. I have read all the other books and this was the worst! Shaw & Jagger were just annoying and the story was just boring and nothing to hold your attention They kept calling Cannon a spoiled brat Jagger was just as bad!!!! Shaw wasn't so bad because we really get to know her through Violet but this ugh

Wanting Shaw just feeds my addiction to this world once again. I can’t get enough of this huge family. Shaw is feisty like her mother but still needs a little protection. Seeing the heart ache her bff goes through scares the shit out of her. Luca and Violet are supposed to be the definition of love. If they can’t make it how can anyone else. Jagger is torn. The girl he loves or his best friend? He shouldn’t have to chose but he knows he has to. Right when he decides to make the right choice guess who’s back to fuck it up once more. Will he ever change 😒
This story had me heart broken and anxiety ridden. The poor couple couldn’t catch a break. Let’s not forget the dumbass that is Cannon Cage. Of course we get more of him and yes you will want to throat punch him and cut off his balls. More than once. Out of all the kids in the family one of them had to be a douch bag and guess what? We found him. I hope he gets redeemed in another story. As much as he started to lighten up towards the end I still don’t like him. Back to Jagger. The poor guy is paying for Lucas catastrophic mistake. Trying to prove he is different is a journey he sets on that creates all sorts of up and downs. Shaw is like a little kitten. Just as she starts to lower her walls and give in something scares her off. She is so terrified of getting her heart destroyed she can’t see that her and Jagger belong together.
To conclude I loved this story. It was everything I wanted and more. You can’t go wrong with this family. With so many people you are bound to get drama and entertainment. Let’s just say Terri did not disappoint. Reading about them never gets old. I can’t wait for the next one. This family just keeps getting bigger and bigger and I love it. Terri you can never quit writing about them. We need them all.
If you haven’t read this series you are missing out. It is so addicting. Just a warning though make sure your stocked up on tissues. And maybe a bottle of wine 😉

If you are not already a fan of this author well get on it. This author writes books that have you involved in the characters from the first word to the very end. You will want to read her books again and again. This book is no different.

In this story we get Jagger Armstrong (Nik & Emmie's son) & Shaw (Axton & Dallas's daughter). If you have not read the previous books that is ok you can read this one without knowing who the parents are but by the time you finish this book you will want to. Jagger and Cannon (Shaw's brother) have been friends since they could walk. Now they are even in a band together. There was always one rule though no dating or doing anything with the other's sister. That was ok because Jagger's sister is older and Cannon never stood a chance with her. Shaw however Jagger has loved and wanted this girl for a long time now but never wanted to loose his friend just to get the girl he wanted. Shaw knows the man she wants she just has to get him to see it as well. Then everything blows up and she doesn't trust in love and relationships. The one person she has always wanted she doesn't trust with her heart anymore. Can these two find a way to a HEA or will heartbreak and distance make that impossible?

Oh my gosh this is such and amazing story. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. Man do I want to tell you so much. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this is one of those books you will loose sleep over, lock everyone out of the room you are in and not get anything accomplished till you finish this book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Wanting Shaw- Terri Anne Browning (Rocker’s Legacy Book 5)- Shaw Cage & Jagger Armstrong This series continues to feed my addiction to the World Terri Anne Browning has created from the parents to their children. Shaw is a perfect mix of Dallas and Axton as Jagger is of Nik and Emmie.  Browning keeps me invested in the next generation and didn’t disappoint with Shaw& Jagger’s story.  This book handled drama and narrative twists + turns in keeping with the crossover stories within Browning’s world.   You don’t have to read book 4 to read this, but to truly understand the battle of Shaw and Jags’ struggles.  Not only center on Shaw’s brother Cannon, but now throw in Luca & Violet’s (book 4) HEA drama on his mistakes and how it shattered Violet and adds to Shaw’s fears on trusting not only her heart/mind,but Jagger’s.  Revisiting Luca’s/Violet's heartbreak and how it plays a part in Shaw’s trust in herself and Jagger’s love. Cannon is the villain in the next generation legacy series (like Gabrielle was for the Rocker’s series), so I am sure Browning's Piper & Cannon story should be an interesting read in the future.  I loved the other character’s popping into the story.  Looking forward to reading, these next crossover generation books:  Sacred Vow(Angels Halo MC Next Gen Book 5)- River & Mackenzie,  Needing Arella (Rocker’s Legacy Book 6)-Jordan & Arella, and Heartless Savage (Angels Halo MC Next Gen) Ryan &Nova (Ryan is the mafioso prince).

First things first; I love the cover of this book.
Wanting Shaw is the fifth book in the ‘’rocker’s legacy’’ series. I devoured this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters loveable and the storyline enjoyable. Jagger and Shaw have known one another all of their lives. Shaw and Jagger want one another but Jagger has loyalty to his best friend, Shaw’s brother. Will Jagger ever pull his head out of his ass and get his girl?
The chemistry between Shaw and Jagger is clear to see and I liked them together.
I liked that Shaw finally gave Jagger a chance.
I also liked that Cannon finally started to show a change in attitude. I liked that Violet had enough and finally put him in his place.
I loved the snippets of Dallas and Axton in this story. I loved seeing Dallas be feisty and kickass when it came to her children.
I loved the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.

Not what it should have been

While I liked Shaw and Jagger, it got very old very fast that their entire story was overshadowed by Violet's drama. The book felt like it was more about her than them. Yet again there is a guy who busts his butt trying to prove how much he loves his girl while she can't put forth an ounce of effort and takes every opportunity to push him away. I really don't get this generation at all. Most of the guys are hard wired to be good men who protect their women fiercely but almost all of the girls seem to have learned nothing about love from their parents. They may have personality traits that resemble their strong as hell mothers but most of them act like the world owes them something. Shaw is so like her mother in some ways but seems to totally miss the mark when it comes to love. She doesn't believe in true love. How is that even possible when she is surrounded by couples who prove it's real every day? Getting really tired of this Gen having their heads up their asses.

Wanting Shaw.... worth every minute

Wanting Shaw definitely follows as a great “legacy” book. You don’t need to read Emmie and Nick or Dallas and Ax’s story to understand the dynamics of all their children or the other characters. You don’t have to read book 4 of the Rocker’s Legacy series, although it helps, to understand the battle of Shaw and Jags’ love. I actually like that their parents and others were not as prominent in this story, present but not overtaking the book. The reader gets a full on view of the people who matter the most. The only drawback is how time jumps. I wouldn’t say that I was bawling in my feeling like I have with other Browning Books, but I still couldn’t put this book down. I do not feel like I was cheated out of a story or that TAB rushed to put a product out. For that, I am a very grateful reader. Reading time with breaks: 7 hours, worth every minute of not sleeping.

Poor Jags, he is such a sweety with the patience of a saint and really deserved better. I couldn't stand Shaw and her immaturity and constantly pushing him away due to her fear of getting hurt like Violet. Yes, Violet's and Luca's relationship fell apart - again due to immaturity - but she never gave up on love instead went after it with Remi. They both had 8+ Rockers' solid relationships around them that although rocky at the beginning, have surpassed all obstacles and are going strong. If Violet, who was the one hurt could move on, then why couldn't Shaw? Her fear just did not make any sense and really made it hard to like her. I actually liked Cannon, and all his a$$wholene$$ more than her and can't wait for his and Piper's story. The 3 stars are for Jagger. One of the best book boyfriends EVER!

This is book 5 in the Rocker's Legacy series. This is Jagger and Shaw's book. It seems like forever that I have been reading these books so that is what makes it a little difficult to remember that the characters are older but still young. I loved Jagger and his struggle to be true to his friend but also have Shaw. I really had a hard time with Shaw. I know she is young and that is what I keep telling myself. She was convinced that she knew what she wanted and that she wanted Jagger but was so immature about things that happened. In a lot of issues she acted just like her brother spoiled self centered brat. Don't get me wrong, I read the whole book but it just felt like we had been there done that with the story line.

I both loved and hated this book... I loved Shaw and Jagger from the very beginning. I loved seeing their relationship change. I hated having to relive Vi and Luca’s heartbreak and how that so strongly impacted Shaw but I also loved it cause that is life. And it reminded me so much of Dallas and Ax. I loved the ending, I hated how long things took to be ok and that we didn’t get enough of them together. I loved the look into Piper and Cannons story, I hated Cannon for 99% of the story... I loved seeing all the originals, I hated we didn’t get a lot of the siblings though... but overall I love this series and these books and this book just added more dimension and love to it all!

Jagger Armstrong!

Where to start... Loved Jagger. He was so in love with Shaw, but is loyalty to her brother almost got in the middle of their relationship. The fact Jagger literally goes the distance to reassure Shaw that he is nothing Luca (Loving Violet) is sweet, but it got annoying. Understandable Shaw saw her bff go through heartbreak, but she never lets Jagger explain. Their story was good, but left with wanting more.

I felt they were too young

I enjoyed this book like I do all of Terri Anne's work but I didn't love it. I felt for the first half of the book it was set too young. Shaw was 16/17 yet some of the behaviour was that of an older character until the big blowout then she acted exactly like and emotionally immature teenage who was not equipped to deal with such feelings. I feel it would have been better if they hadn't got together until a bit older.

Shaw and Jagger😍

OMG, I’m just loving this series❣️Terri is notorious for keeping one on the edge of their seat and this series is spectacular with the emotional ups and downs one expects from all relationships😁

Shaw and Jagger have a rough go of it but I also love how each story entwines with a previous one but I feel as though I’m with each couple on their roller coaster rides towards love and their HEA🤩 Can’t wait to read more❤️

Another amazing addition to the Legacy series, I loved to see how much the next generation had grown up so strong and they have the best quality of their parents. Shaw reminds me so much of her mother, she is strong yet vulnerable at the same time. Jagger much like his mom fights for what he wants , even if he had to wait a lifetime for it.

Loved it!

I devoured this book as I do most of Terri Anne's book. Shaw is loyal to her friends and family. She is your typical insecure teen girl who hated seeing her best friend hurt. Jagger does all he can to prove himself. He makes lots of mistakes as does Shaw. You have to learn to grow and they did.

Loved it!!!

Shaw and Jagger’s book was wonderful! I really loved seeing how they got together after years of flirting. I also loved seeing the other side of things that were shown in Vi’s book. I’m also in love with the set up for a story about Piper and Cannon, and possibly Jenner and Doe!! Beautiful story, great job Terri!!
