Love in Short #2

Sexy With Attitude Too

Rate this book
Reasons Luke Stone is off-limits: He’s a cop. I have a criminal past. His favorite pastime is pulling me over for speeding. Driving fast makes me feel free.

He’s maddeningly hot. I am off men.

He’s my boss’ brother. If they discover my resume is fake, I’ll get fired.

He knows I’m hiding something, and he’s determined to find out what.

So when my boss orders me to cat sit at his place while he whisks his bride away on honeymoon, the last person I expect to share the responsibility with is Luke Stone, a.k.a. the hot-as-hell heartthrob cop.

Surviving a month under the same roof as him will be impossible. He’s infuriating. He eats all my snacks, makes constant innuendos, and walks around half-naked, flaunting those rock-hard abs and bulging biceps, making my mouth water.

They say the line between love and hate is fine. All I know is I’ll either end up killing him or sleeping with him.

God, I hope it’s the first one.

Oh My Gosh I just love this RomCom Series. The author has given us another well written hilarious storyline. If you read OMFG - Operation My Fake Girlfriend, you know this series takes place in a small town where everyone knows everyone and Everything that happens. In SWAT (Sexy With Attitude Too) we have Luke Stone’s story (Seb from OMFG’s younger brother). As we know Luke is a confirmed bachelor (who’s been with almost everyone woman in town - which can be a huge problem when exes get together) and he is also a police detective. He loves being a cop. He knows the dangers of his work and therefore doesn’t do relationships. The thought of leaving a loved one shattered, like he was when his parents died, should something happen to him on the job, well… to Luke it’s not worth risking a relationship for.

But then he meets Rosie, a sassy, knockout who just happens to be Seb’s new assistant and who also keeps giving him the brush off (something Luke just doesn’t understand). Things get crazy when due to a mixup in communication, Luke and Rosie end up sharing cat duty while Seb and Grace are on their honeymoon. These two have chemistry out the wahzoo but their competitive natures have things in an uproar, not to mention Rosie is harboring some major secrets. Secrets that if Luke, being a cop, uncovers she is a heap of trouble.

I Highly recommend both OMFG and SWAT. These two hilarious books are definitely worth a one-click and the author has done an amazing job with both the storylines and the characters. Scoop these up quick… you won’t be sorry you did. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars.

This girl is on fire. It's one book after the other and I couldn't be happier.
Each book is super intense with a lot of comedy in between.
Emily James is the best and her writing will hook you up.
SWAT is her latest release and explores the lives of Luke and Rosie.
Luke is a cop. He's more into a one night stand without attachments but one mysterious woman...
Rosie works as a PA for one of the rich guy. She left her hometown behind because she can't be there. She dreams big and that town would clip her wings. Everything was going as planned until she was relocated to another small town...
Just like I knew it would be, this book nailed it.
It was perfect from the beginning till the end.
Perfect plot, very well written, super engaging and intense. It was refreshing to read a book like this one.
These characters worked perfectly together, they were each other's yin and yang.
There were parts of the book that I wanted to slap someone, jeez, stubborn much?
But there were others that I've laughed so hard that I almost wet my pants. Lol
It was great to read more about Geraldine. Oh boy. That cat is something else...
Hot stuff around the corner and you'll love it.
Great story that will make you happy and delighted.
Amazing Emily. Perfect book and I can't wait for Willow and Ethan.

I was finally the big day Luke Stone’s big brother was getting married to the love of his life the whole town was going crazy it was seriously he talk of the town. Luke was sent by the bride to get the cake, once he got to the bakery there was a gorgeous blonde who got him distracted and as everyone in town knows Luke is a playboy of all playboys but this blonde was playing really hard to get. And the fact that she ended up stealing the wedding cake set Luke off good thing he’s a cop and can chase her down before his brothers wedding is ruined and the bride finds out. Little did Luke know that the blonde is his brother personal assistant Rosie and his brother sent her to get the cake. When the bride and groom didn’t communicate they didn’t know that they both send somebody after the cake so things got heated up. They also didn’t know that they were both going to be looking after the bride’s cat while they were on their honeymoon for a month and these two got under each other skin. A month stuck in a house with Rosie, Luke thought it be a fun time to up the stakes and just see how much she could annoy her before she went running. Do these two figure out their differences to live together or will her past interfere with his life and job. This book was pretty awesome and way too funny I was laughing out loud so much it was a perfect romcom with one major twist I didn’t see coming but I loved it anyways.

I loved the back and forth with these two. So much banter and practical jokes. It made me laugh.
Standalone with no cliffhangers, but the epilogue does lead you into the next book.
Rosie has secrets, and good ones so she just needs to do her job and that's it. No Romance, even if he is a sexy cop.
Luke is not a guy to settle, ever. Something about Rosie sticks in his mind and he can't stop wanting her.
The narrators did an amazing job, all the little personal noises like huffs and laughs add to the realness of this story.
I listened to this on Audible.

I received this book as an ARC from the author.
I love Emily's writing style. She's great at mixing in romance, with intensity and humor. She keeps it real so it's completely believable. The back and forth between Luke and Rosie is both frustrating and hilarious. The escapades that go on while Seb and Grace are gone are wonderful. Great story, couldn't put it down.

I received a copy to review as part of the release of this book. I had not read OMFG:Operation: My Fake Girlfriend.
But if you had, then this book location would probably be more familiar. But I didnt have any issues reading thos as a stand alone.

If you like light hearted rom-com then the book will be right up your alley.
Luke Stone was a bit clichéd as in a typical player. But I sure enjoyed Rosies comebacks and attitude towards him.
The books set in a small fictional town in the UK. But in reality it could be any small town... It seems a world wide phenomenon of gossips and grapevines. But I've lived in places like that (some even have Facebook pages now... I could just imagine how the gossips would be furiously messaging about Luke and his latest conquest to be) I felt sorry for Rosies predicament with her past, and she was the character I really connected to. My other favourite was Geraldine... The cat.
The book as a good read that had me laughing. I may have to check out Operation: My Fake Girlfriend. Since this book has Grace and Sebastian in it.

This one was another great read in this series, Luke and Rosie were amazing and I loved reading their banter and their interactions. Rosie was Luke’s brother’s PA and they only met for Sebastian and Grace’s wedding, at first they didn’t realized who the other was so their scenes together were entertaining from the start. They both had to take care of Grace’s cat while she and Sebastian were on their honeymoon so I loved how they riled each other up and how after some time they started becoming friends. Luke was known for being a player so despite their attraction Rosie knew she had to keep him at arm’s length, especially thanks to her past and Luke being a cop.

The drama in this story was very captivating so I really wanted to know more about Rosie’s past and the secrets she had. I loved how Luke tried to be there for her and how he waited for her to tell him her story, it took Rosie a while to open up but it was nice reading how things finally worked out for them and how Rosie was finally free of her past so she could have a future with Luke. Their story was really nice and as always easy to read.

Now I only have Florence and Carter’s story left so I can’t wait to dive in and read more of all of these characters.

What's not to love with this story?

Luke and Rosie are so stinking cute! Luke is a cop in the small town of Heaven.. Rosie starts off by "stealing " Luke's brother's wedding cake as she speeds away. So he chases and surprised, she ends up pulling in to his gramps property and as he approaches her car his brother Sebastián shows up and thanks Rosie for picking up the wedding cake. Sebastián sees the look on Luke's face and chuckles and introduces his brother to his PA Rosie.

I laughed so much at all the hijinks between these two. They actually end up staying together at Luke's brother and sister in laws place together to share looking out for their cat, Geraldine which is actually a boy cat. The sexual tension between these two is off the charts. But Rosie has some secrets about her past that she doesn't want anyone to know about especially Luke.

Besides their story you get into a case that Luke is working on about a local drug dealer. Things get interesting real fast! Can these two actually get into any type of relationship when neither of them are looking for one? So good! Definitely put this on you to be read list. Enjoy!

This story follows Luke, who is brothers with Seb, the lead for the first book, and Seb's assistant, Rosie. The story was really funny in the beginning to middle an enemies to lovers story that was enhanced by the hilarious banter and the pranks. The last half was less funny, given that it really revolved around Rosie's past and her issues. But it was well written and a very fun listen, as I listened to the audiobook. In terms of the narration, Sophie Hunter Scott was perfect- she had fantastic comedic timing, she seemed like she really enjoyed herself with this narration and her voice, while beautiful, was also infused with humor. I really loved her narration. The male narrator, Greg Michaels, was good. Greg Michael's reading would have benefited from a bit more enunciation as I did have trouble with understanding it a bit. Overall, listening to the audiobook is a fantastic way to enjoy the story. While this is standalone, I'm happy to have read in order (I have the boxed set)

Quick, fun read.

"Sexy with Attitude" is a decent read if you are looking for a palate cleanser between books. This is book 2 in the 5 book Love in Short Series. I read it as a stand-alone and I was fine.

Luke (MMC) is a copy but is also known to be a player and pursues sassy Rosie (FMC) his brother’s assistant. In this book - both have the “attitude”. Rosie and Luke find that they are stuck cat-sitting a very high-maintenance cat. Living together as roommates become a comedic nightmare at times but of course, eventually, a romance builds between them. Luke suspects that Rosie has some secrets she is not sharing. Luke being a cop ends up uncovering and piecing some things together.

Overall, good story. Very low spice though.

I didn't love it, didn't hate it, kinda fell somewhere in the middle.

I know you need to suspend reality a little when reading, but there a some things that just didn't make sense (like, why she got so mad about him running her plates... he's & cop and had pulled her over 2x). Frustrated me a little

I'm curious about the next book, so I may continue on with the series, but I'm not rushing to read more.

Overall pretty good. Not as good as the first book in the series for me, but still enjoyable.
I found the back and forth between Rosie and Luke to not be fun at all. If I ever had to live with someone who did what Luke did I definitely couldn't fall in love with them. I also feel like Luke's personality did a 180 part of the way through when he started to learn about Rosie's past. I honestly almost didn't finish the book because I just really did not like Luke.

I loved this book! I was thrilled when I found out this was a follow-up to OMFG by Emily James. One of my favorite series and authors because every story is believable yet still highly entertaining. SWAT is no different. It will evoke unexpected laughter that will literally have you laughing out loud (even at inopportune moments)!

Highly recommend this author and this series. Love them!

Sexy cop alert! 🔥

Sparks fly between Luke and Rosie from the start. When they are forced to spend time together under one roof to care for a very eccentric kitty cat, can they avoid not killing each other long enough to fall in love. Will Luke's promiscuous past and Rosie's secrets ruin any chance at a future together? I really loved this book. Lots of intrigue.

Luke and Rosie’s story is a lot of fun and a whole lot of sizzle. Luke is the town “playboy” cop, with the reputation of being a “one and done” kind of guy. Rosie is new to town, working for Seb, Luke’s brother, and as soon as she learns of Luke’s reputation, she knows that’s not what she wants, despite her insane attraction to him. Their pranks and antagonistic behavior towards each other only seems to fan the flames, and is a total right to witness. In addition, we get more of the wonderful cat, Geraldine, who is always good for a well timed puke to spoil a mood. The undercurrent here is with Rosie’s past, which is a bit dark, but the way Luke handles it is admirable, and they’re relationship ends up being sweetly intense. This was a fun one to watch unfold.

Took a lot in me to finish this. I skimmed a lot to reach the end. I simply lost my interest. Rosie wasn't really likeable. Luke was too in love with her and I couldn't understand why. She's hot but aside from that, I don't get her appeal to Luke.

DNF…

MC’s are at a wedding where the H has slept with all the single women there. Ia it really a happy ending if you end up living in a town where every second woman has slept with your husband? Yikes!

Cover up!

Having to spin lies to cover a past leads to more complications as Rosie finds out. Luke could be her down fall. Story is well written.
