‘The Time Hunters and the Wraith’s Revenge’ is the sixth book in the Time Hunters Saga.
After a happy, uneventful year, Becky and Joe Mellor’s world is thrown into chaos when a masked psychopath, The Wraith, kidnaps various members of their family and friends.
To their horror, he’s hidden them at different historical disasters in a diabolical game called ‘The Empedoclean Trials.’
With time running out, Becky, Joe and Uncle Percy must solve the clues and rescue the ‘participants’ before they become victims of the disasters themselves! And can they discover the Wraith’s true identity before it’s too late?
I'm a children's writer from Cheshire in England. 'The Time Hunters' is my first novel. The series continues with 'The Time Hunters and the Box of Eternity', 'The Time Hunters and the Spear of Fate', 'The Time Hunters and the Sword of Ages' and 'The Time Hunters and the Lost City'.
I have also completed two non-Time Hunters novels - 'The Night they Nicked Saint Nick' and 'Bernard and the Bibble.'
I am currently working on the first book in another series for children - 'Zak Fisher and the Angel Prophecy'.
I like alternative music, Marvel comics, Naan breads and coriander. I am rubbish at fixing stuff.
After a break of five years, Uncle Percy, Becky and Joe are brought back to book by acclaimed writer, Carl Ashmore.
Although the previous TH book seemingly concluded in a more than satisfactory way, you can’t keep a good story down. I’m delighted to say that the return of the Time-travelling trio is another rip-roaring adventure full of history, thrills and laughs.
A mysterious, masked figure known as The Wraith has kidnapped several of our hero’s loved ones and forces Uncle Percy, Becky and Joe to take part in a series of challenges in order to rescue them. Known as The Empedoclean Trials, they must navigate their way through various historical disasters to free their friends.
One of the many factors of Carl’s work I enjoy is his dialogue. It flows so naturally and is effortlessly funny, particularly between the youngsters. There’s a warmth and genuine sense of love throughout which makes his writing so easy to read.
Not one to shy away from writing about the darker side of life, we learn more about Uncle Percy’s history which provides hugely emotional moments. As usual, this is handled with sensitivity and tact with understanding and care.
Adventure stories for young readers (and adults too!) don’t get much better than this. Exciting and dangerous, the Time Hunters are back with a bang!
Great adventure story with history and mystery woven together
Really fun series of adventure and history woven into a good tale. The author has a great way of seamlessly taking the reader back and forth through history. The strong characters are well rounded and emotionally developed. As they travel through this adventure to save their loved ones, they are thrown into Uncle Percy's painful tragic history. The book can be read as a standalone because the author does give a background to keep the reader in the loop. It is best if read as a series to get the full effect of how the characters grow and how they have the courage to face the Wraith. It also seems the author has been increasing the reading level to grow with the characters and the readers.
Yippee, time hunters 6 is here! And yes, I re-read the first five beforehand. Owning the new book was like coming home to a family. Things like thinking "hasn't! Joe gone tall" no spoilers obviously but six people close to uncle percy, Becky and Joe are kidnapped by the wraith and hidden in four areas facing disasters (I only guessed one) and they must find them. Brilliant book. Story and characters excellent as always. Love this author.
It’s a while since we had a Time Hunters story and this is well up to the usual standard. The author doesn’t back down from death and sadness and tells life like it is. But a bit more exciting! There’s history, mythology and lots of sibling bickering from Becky and Joe. The quest they’ve been on isn’t the end for them as you’ll see. The story goes on. Many of us will be heartily glad of that. Great story-telling and a brilliant adventure.
After finishing the previous story, where Uncle Percy, Becky and Joe had all the 5 relics, got John Mellor back and defeated both Emerson and Otto, I wondered where this tale could take us, and was pleasantly surprised with both the new challenge facing them and the reveal at the end! Also was a bonus to have a little pit-stop in some of history's biggest disasters, a great read and looking forward to the next in the series to see where the battle with this new enemy takes us
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one, this book had a brilliant ending that got me excited for the next in the series.
This book was exciting all the way through and I couldn't put the book down for 150 pages and by that time it was twelve and I was shattered even then it was hard to put down.
I've been waiting for another Time Hunters book and I wasn't disappointed. Set a couple of years after the last one, this book sees Becky, Joe and Uncle Percy set off on another adventure in time. This is just as gripping as the five before it. Roll on number seven!
Wow. Percy, Becky and Joe, are dealt several blows. But only Time, Brains and Braun will work in their favour. Given tasks with evil intent. Will they survive. A Brilliantly played out Adventure.
Another addictive read full of nail biting suspense and intriguing adventure. The historical aspect is always fascinating. I was so happy to be able to read a new adventure but read it far too quickly. Can’t wait for the next book.
Another super adventure in time, grips the reader from page one, and leaves you wanting more when it's finished. Parents, grandparents, and kids can read, and enjoy, this series.
