Recommends it for: those who like intelligent mysteries set in France with a bit of romance
Thanks to author Lise McClendon and BookSprout for a digital advanced reader copy of this book. All comments and opinions are my own.

This was an engaging mystery set in the French countryside. Even though it's number 13 in the Bennett Sisters mystery series, you can easily read this as a standalone and thoroughly enjoy it. The characters are likable (except for the bad guys, of course), the food and drink made me hungry, and I could almost smell the lavender while reading.

This is another entry in the fantastic Bennett Sisters series by Lise McClendon. Lost in Lavender centers on the youngest Bennett sister, Elise. In an attempt to relieve her dissatisfaction with her job as a lawyer and her insipid boyfriend, Elise decides that a working vacation at a lavender farm in Provence just might do the trick. However, once there, Elise realizes all the other guests are foreign students half her age and the work is harder than she thought. In order to find some entertainm ...more

Enjoyable addition to the Bennett sisters stories

I’ve been hooked on this series since reading Blackbird Fly before a trip to the Dordogne some years ago. This book, which expands the sisters’ travels to Provence, is another delightful installment, perfect light reading for these times of too much gloomy pandemic and political news! Escaping to Provence, with a little rose wine, a little mystery and a little romance was just what I needed this weekend. Enjoy!

Elise, the youngest of the five Bennett sisters, has come to a crossroads in her life and books a 10-day farm stay in Provence to work, clear her mind, and develop a new plan. She hates being a lawyer, has quit her job at the law firm, broken up with her boyfriend, Scott, and once older sister, Merle, drops her off at the lavender farm, goes incommunicado with all her family and friends.

However, rather than finding a place to contemplate the future and regroup, she finds herself living and worki

I’ve been a fan of Lise’s writing since I first read Blackbird Fly over six years ago and it’s always exciting to get back between the pages of a Bennett Sisters mystery. This book was no exception. It didn’t take long for the memories of the previous adventures of Merle Bennett, Pascal (her French detective boyfriend) and her four sisters to flood back into my head, leaving me feeling like it had been no time at all since I read the last book.

Merle’s cottage, in a bastide town in the Dordogne,

There's nothing like a worldwide pandemic to send me reaching for some novels to help me escape, and that's just what I did with this novel Lost in Lavender by Lise McClendon.

Lost in Lavender is one of 13 books the author has written about five sisters who have a love affair with France, and a few international men as well. This book, which can stand alone, focuses on the sisters Merle and Elise. Merle lives in France full time in an ancient village, while Elise, the youngest, signs up for a wo

Story is about 2 Bennet sisters, Elise (in her 40s) and Merle. (in her 50s I think). There was a sense of searching for something...Elise enrolled in a 10 day program to work in a lavender farm and do chores like someone who lives off a farm. She stayed only for 7-days as she had conflicts in the farm. She went off with Ari, a guy she just met. Then something happened to Ari, and this is when the mystery started. Lots of possible suspects including Conor, a guy Elise seem to have an attrraction ...more

Sometimes the best way to sort things out is to take a break, be away from all that you are used to and think things over. That´s exactly what this story is about besides containing drama, crime and love. It´s a delight to read about the charm, smell and beauty of the Provence lavender farms, the wording used by the author is so strong that you can "see" the lavender in its splendor being harvested under the sun. Simply beautiful! Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Excellent series

This is the last book in the series so far. I certainly hope there's more to come! While you can read them independently, they are much more enjoyable if you get to know the sisters from the beginning. Merle and her sisters, while fictional, are people I would like to know and have a glass of wine with. The stories are well written, the characters believable and the mysteries not too fantastical. I even learned some things about the wine trade in France. I would recommend the ser

Bennett sisters

This is the thirteenth in the series. I think it is one that is more enjoyable if you have read at least some of the others for background. That being said, I’m not saying don’t read this, I’m saying read them all. I enjoyed reading about Elise , another sister and yet another lawyer as she navigates her way around France. Romance, mystery, beautiful settings and of course food enrich this book.

I like this series so much. I enjoy all the characters but Elise was my least favourite sister so it was good to see her get her act together. Merle an Pascal are and always will be my favourite. Merle is a strong independent woman and Pascal respects that. I enjoyed that Tristan was in this book. The description of the farm was great I could almost smell the lavender.I hope there are more of these books. I am excitedly waiting for the next one.

Elise takes a get-away to a lavender farm in Provence. She meets some fellow residents who are not pleasant to her. In town she meets Ari, who is charming and mysterious. With his disappearance, Merle and Pascal help Elise figure out what is really going on. I enjoyed reading the twists in Lost in Lavender and I especially loved the descriptions of the settings.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Oh... I so enjoyed this new visit to France with Elise, Merle and Pascal! I can smell the Lavender and taste the Rose and delectable plates... I can’t wait to find out what happens for Elise as her adventure in love continues as well as future updates and adventures for the rest of the Bennett Sisters!! I don’t want to spoil this for anyone so I’ll stop with this... ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🎉🍾 🍷 🇫🇷

Another delightful French adventure for Merle and Pascal. Elise in the central sister in this mystery. I love the descriptions of Provence and the fields of lavender. I could almost smell it! I am happy the Elise has found some happiness finally. I love reading these stories, they provide such a picturesque escape! Lise McClendon is a wonderful storyteller!

Lost in Lavender is yet another good addition to Lisa McClendon’s Bennett Sisters Mysteries series. Even though this is part of a series, I believe readers can get by reading each one as a stand alone. But I would recommend to read all them. It is always great to catch up with the Bennett Sisters and seeing what else they wind up getting themselves into. I enjoyed the setting, the mystery, and the suspense. Fantastic world building yet again.

Anytime you get to spend with Merle is just the best. I enjoy this series so much I can never get enough. Elise, Merle’s younger sister goes on holiday and seems to disappear. Merle’s niece Willow comes for a visit and brings along some drama of her own. Tristen is in France for a long awaited visit. Pascal & Merle finally have a place together Bordeaux, kind of. There are more visitors but I do not want to give anymore away. Elise’s adventure is exciting in ma
