This book has tasty sounding recipes and the author is likeable. I'm pretty sure I must have watched his season of Top Chef but I don't really remember him. The recipes do sound generally creative and healthy-ish. They are very heavy in wheat, especially hard to purchase gluten free items like Hawaiian buns that he uses in lots of dishes. They also lean towards very high carb and no nutritional information is provided for any of the recipes, so it's not a book that I can really cook from. Photos ...more

I was very happy with this cookbook. This book wasn't just about the recipes, techniques and helpful tips (although you do get all that), it has personality. The author uses his own family life to infuse this entertaining read with lots of genuineness and gives it a nice level of relatability. I liked that so much. I thought there was a solid array of recipes featured and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. The book itself is colorful and eye-catching. The photos are beautiful and th ...more

I love this book! As I am going through it for the first time, you can feel the love in this family! The photos are not perfect, yes they are candid but do not look staged, more like moments captured on film. Even the photos of the dishes look real, there is egg stuck on the muffin tin, burnt drippings on the pans, the pans their self are worn and well loved. This reminds me of getting an inside peek into someone's home and their family recipes rather than a "celebrity chef" cookbook. Which is a ...more

I received a copy of The No-Fuss Cookbook from NetGalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in return for my honest review.

To be honest, I was not at all familiar with Chef Ryan Scott before picking up this book, but he has created a beautiful cookbook with detailed but not very difficult recipes -- definitely living up to his "no-fuss" promise. There are gorgeous full-colored photographs of every dish, as well as some adorable family photos sprinkled through out. I love that there are plenty of not

This book was received as an ARC from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I absolutely was waiting for this book and I am a huge fan of Top Chef and contestants like Ryan Scott were definitely the most memorable and I remember his out of the box dishes he presented and how talented he is. I remember him saying that in his parent's restaurant, his father fired two cooks in the first week because he outcoo

Wow... this cookbook houses some gorgeous looking recipes! This book is titled no fuss but the recipes involved are explained well and packed with wholesome ingredients.

What did I like? Gorgeous food pictures anyone? I’m happy to report a ton of these recipes follow a low salt diet. There is also a ton of side notes for those that like a variation in the meals offered. The recipe itself comes with a little side story and some personalization. I bookmarked a ton of recipes to try, including the

This cookbook had lots of fantastic pictures! I enjoyed the cute family pictures the author included, and of course, the appetizing pictures of the recipes. Almost every recipe seems to have a picture, and some even have more than one. Most of the recipes also look pretty yummy as well. I also loved the informative notes they added. The thing I disliked the most is that a lot of the recipes have a decent number of ingredients, so that is not what I would describe as "no-fuss". Also, there is no ...more

I received this ebook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really love how this cookbook isn't full of 5 million sections, and instead has 6 different sections along with an intro, acknowledgments, and an index. The pictures look good enough to eat right out of the book, and some of the pics are downright funny. I love that we get a sneak peek into Ryan Scott's life. My favorite thing about this cookbook is the fact that pretty much every recipe has a picture to go along with it, wh

This is a wonderful cookbook. It is as the title says No Fuss. Just wonderful recipes to suit the whole family. As a mum of two of the most pickiest eaters I struggle to find recipes that will suit us all. Whilst having a dish that looks appetising and is healthy. I have already marked up many recipes on my to try list.
Wonderful colour pictures of the food (and the authors very cute daughter). Easy to follow instructions. I also loved the authors notes for each recipe. Like which buns to buy. F

Thank you to @netgalley, publisher and the author for gifting me this free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I love cookbooks... Always have and always will. But I also like to see some humor in it, to feel like my friend wrote it etc....
This is that kond of cookbook. It makes you giggle, feel comforted and of course it has great recipes.
And most importantly I love it that there's no sugar in these recipes (beside the natural one).
Recipes vary from easy ones to more advanced ones but they a

Thanks to Netgalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for this ARC in exchange for my review.

The No-Fuss Family Cookbook is a collection of recipes made with busy families in mind. There are no extensive instructions or long lists of ingredients. As it says in the title, no fuss. Divided into six sections and well illustrated, the book presents plenty of easy and creative meals to be enjoyed by the whole family. I tried to bullet point some of the recipes I want to try for this review, but realized

I have not tried any of the recipes yet, but this book makes me smile,. The pictures are fun and happy. The book is broken down into sections such as breakfast and baked goods, Salads, soups, and snacks, Pasta, dinner, Veggies and sides, and desserts. Each recipes has a story to go with it and many have notes for help alter the recipes if need be. Those no-bake Blueberry energy bites are going to be my first try. SO glad I have a copy of this book from NG, but am going to be gifting physical cop ...more

This cookbook does a great job at including kid-friendly, adults-(probably)-only, and DIY to everyone’s own tastes. About half of the recipes have pictures. And each recipe has a blurb to introduce Ryan’s reasoning for including it. Many of the recipes also have notes at the end for substitutions and other tips. It’s a great cookbook to give as a gift to new families or more established families who may need some new staples.

Contents include: breakfast and baked goods; soups, salads, and snacks

I love reading cookbooks. They are usually filled with beautiful pictures of food and interesting back stories to the recipes in the book. This cookbook is no different.

The recipes in the book are easy to follow. I have tried several and had success with each one that I tried. The recipes are easy to follow and not overly difficult to make.

My only negative feedback is that some of the recipes reference specific items from specific companies. This items are not available in Canada and after som

Free advanced copy from Netgalley for honest review

Good cookbook for a busy family. The recipes are not complicated or fussy and are geared to getting dinner on the table with a minimum of time. For the most part the recipes are kid friendly and the book includes many photographs of the food as well as the author's family. I tried several dishes from the book and for the most part was pleased with the results. One thing I wish it included was nutritional info/calories etc. I recommend this book

I received The No-Fuss Family Cookbook as part of a NetGalley giveaway.

As young families know, mealtimes can be a minefield. The No-Fuss Family Cookbook attempts to remedy this with a selection of familiar but creative recipes that will both satisfy and nourish everyone. The layout is very clean and minimal, which I appreciate, and it's very vegetarian friendly. The recipes themselves are accessible and the flavors are fairly simple and straightforward to appeal to children's palates. A really u

Quick weeknight meals that are kid-friendly and healthy? Yes, please! Remember those commercials for Rice Krispie treats where the mom came out of the kitchen with flour all over her face and looking exhausted and presented the treats to her family who all thought she had slaved over them? You can re-create that with any of these recipes because they're all that easy. There's even a recipe for Brown Butter Butterscotch Marshmallow Square Treats if you feel the need to stick to the original scrip ...more

Title is misleading…I’m not sure what recipes that they were using before- 5 star Michelin restaurant level?- because these recipes are very much “fuss”. The list of ingredients, the steps, and the amount of things my kids won’t eat are all there. Don’t get me wrong, the recipes all look very delicious and quality. They just don’t fit the “no fuss” label that garnered my attention. I kept a few recipes but they very firmly go into the recipe bin for when I have extra cooking time. Which is hardl ...more

I’ve never heard of Ryan Scott but apparently he’s a chef with a good reputation. I was expecting more interesting dishes but this book is boring and too long, none of the dishes were inspiring and the family photos just naff. There are far better cookery books out there and I wouldn’t bother with another of his books.

Thank you to NetGalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for the advanced copy.

This cookbook is truly a collection of no-fuss recipes that seem simple enough for family dinners, yet good or fancy enough to actually really want to make them. To be honest, I had no idea who Ryan Scott was when I started reading this book but I was happily surprised by all the recipes in this cookbook. There is a nice mixture of breakfasts, dinners and desserts -- and these come with great photos, too.

This cookbook was made for me. The list of ingredients easily found in my pantry, they are quick and easy to make and they are kid friendly if you have helpers in the kitchen. recipes cover Turkey Reuben Meatloaf, Broccoli-Cheddar Bow Ties, and Naturally Sweet PB&J Pancakes. Even crowd-pleasing desserts like Everything-But-the-Kitchen-Sink Cookies and Butterscotch Marshmallow Squares. The Kitchen Sink cookies are yummy. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I really enjoy this book. So far I have made the loaded applesauce muffins and they taste soooo good (almost like little carrot cakes as advertised).

I would recommend this book, but I did have some problems with the e-book format and would recommend one gets this book as a physical copy.

First off I’m a Ryan Scott fan. I watched him on Rachael Ray and loved his recipes so I knew I would love this cookbook. All the recipes are accessible and easy to follow, most all recipes are accompanied by terrific pics. And the pics will make you want to run into your kitchen and get started! Oh and the cute family pics are so sweet too! That baby is a doll! This cookbook has the recipes for your every day meals and special desserts.

The No-Fuss Family Cookbook by Ryan Scott is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in late May.

Having really bright highlighting colors alongside neutral toned, family-style meal photographs is a little jarring and against-type. However, the personable narrative and notes that come with each recipe is really endearing, fun-loving and nice, so that easily makes up for any discomfort or turbulence. Really creative, rib-sticking, global and flavorful food all-around!

Loving this book so much. I've made several of the recipes in it and so far they’re all slam dunks despite some substitutions and issues on my part. Overall a fantastic book that brings gourmet restaurant tastes to the home in the COVID time. Love it.
