Death by Chocolate Snickerdoodle is the 4th book in the Death by Chocolate Mystery series by Sarah Graves. I picked up this series with Death by Chocolate Malted Milkshake (book 2) and I also thoroughly enjoyed book 3, Death by Chocolate Frosted Doughnut.

In Death by Chocolate Snickerdoodle, Jacobia (Jake) Tiptree and Ellie White, the owners of 'The Chocolate Moose' are enthusiastic about Eastport, Maine’s Great Downeast Snickerdoodle Bake-Off. They have entered the competition for fun but are aw

I’ve been a huge fan of Jake and Ellie, and I was beyond thrilled when this series came out. I have a connection with Jake, and I’ve really become a fan of this series.
This investigation had me stumped and it took me a while to put the missing pieces into place.
I was glad that Mika, Sam’s wife, got to play a bigger role. I think she’s going to develop a really close relationship with Jake, and I’m looking forward to that.
I would definitely recommend this author and this series, as well as her p

This is the second book I read in this series and I loved it.
It's an entertaining and engrossing story that kept me hooked.
The characters are fleshed out and likable, the mystery is full of twists and turns. It kept me guessing.
I look forward to the next installment.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Sarah Graves knocks it out of the park again with her newest Death by Chocolate book! This mystery really kept me guessing til the very end. When her son's employee is the only suspect in the murder of an unlikable man in Eastport, protagonist Jake does her best to keep him from life in prison away from his dependent teenage sisters. All signs point to Billy, but Jake knows better, so she resumes her amateur sleuth ways, with some help from her best friend and business partner, Ellie. What I lov ...more

It is always delightful to return to the picturesque setting of Eastport Maine and our favorite bakers turned sleuths. I love the atmospheric setting of a beautiful village in Maine, the small town and the well crafted charcters.

This is the 4th Death by Chocolate Mystery by cozy author Sarah Graves. I highly recommend this series. This book can be read as a stand alone.

In this next in series our favorite bakers Jake and Ellie enter the towns Snickerdoodle bake off. They are popular bakers in

Death by Chocolate Snickerdoodle by Sarah Graves is a delightfully clear page turner with fully developed characters who live in Eastport, Maine. The heroine, Jake, flees to Maine with her son, Sam, to reinvent herself and finds this remote Northeast town to be just right. Fast forward a few years as Sam grows up, marries and has two children and Jake finds the man of her dreams, too. She and her friend, Ellie, own a bakery and are as good at solving the town's murders as creating delicious choc ...more

I enjoy cozy mysteries, and when I saw this one that mentioned one of my favorite cookies, I was excited to check it out.

I haven't read the rest of the series, but I'm inclined to check them out, as I really enjoyed this one. It's a quirky story with solid, enjoyable characters and an enjoyable mystery. It was fun to sleuth things out with the characters.

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn't required to leave a positive review.

The Chocolate Moose is run by Jake and Ellie. A local man is found murdered and they are on the case. On top of looking for a murderer in their town they are signed up for a cookie contest. It is a fun mystery with well developed characters. I would start with the first book to get a better idea of the whole story.

Death by Chocolate Snickerdoodle is the fourth in this series, but can be read as a standalone. Having said that, this is a great series and once you read this one you will want to read them all, so you may as well start at the beginning. I really enjoy this series with its humour, quirky characters and wonderful family and friends. Jacobia (Jake) Tiptree runs The Chocolate Moose with her BFF Ellie. This book finds the town in the midst of their annual cooking baking contest and the partners are ...more

This is the 4th installment in the Death by Chocolate series. Jake (Jacobia) and Ellie run the Chocolate Moose bakery and are debating what cookie to enter into the town contest when Jake’s son Sam comes home because his employee Billy finds one of their customers dead. The deceased is Alvin and is known for being the crankiest and perhaps nastiest man in town and when Billy is found with Alvin’s blood on him he becomes the prime suspect. Billy swears he was just trying to help and see if he was ...more

The mystery was well developed and the characters were well written. I just can't give a top rating to a book where the protagonists break into houses (at least 4 in this book) and are not held to the laws written for other people. Really irritates me. I always enjoy spending time in Eastport, Maine in the company of Jake and her best friend/business partner, Ellie. They own a small bakery that I can almost smell as I read about the wonderful confections they create at the Chocolate Moose. In this outing Jake and Ellie are looking forward to the local snickerdoodle challenge. (I would love to be a judge in that event - yum). Too bad that a killer has had enough of the local former lawyer/crook and bumps him off. For many it's good riddance and ...more

Princess Fuzzypants here: I like this series. Really I do. I like the characters and how they interconnect with each other in a big family and an even bigger community. I think Ellie and Jake are two strong determined ladies, as are the other female characters. They get into trouble together. In fact, if I was a hall monitor and they were at school I would separate them. Because one or the other is constantly dragging the other into some sort of chaos, thanks to their good intentions in solving ...more

It's always a fun and suspense-filled roller coaster ride when Jake and Ellie are on a case! I'm always sitting there reading as fast as I can as they get into one investigating scrape after the other, but most of the time they get away without being seen. Although their friend and police officer Bob's watchful eyeballs usually do see them or had a report of them doing something, and they have to answer to his lecture later. At least he's never gone through with his arrest threat...yet lol.

This cozy mystery is set in Maine and centers around Jake (Jacobia) and Ellie who run a chocolate dessert shop in a Maine tourist town. The two occasionally get involved in mysteries that happen in the town and this book focuses on the killing of a reclusive elderly man who frequently changes his will. Jake's son is business partners with suspect Billy, who was apparently the beneficiary of one of the wills.

Billy previously had to kill his father to save his two sisters from abuse. Now a dowdy

I’ve read all of the previous books in this series and this book fits in well with the overall theme.

Jake (Jacobia) Tiptree and Ellie White are the owners of the Chocolate Moose, a bakery in small town Maine that specializes in things made of chocolate. What could be wrong with that?

The thing is, there is always something afoot in Eastport, Maine (a real town, by the way) that Jake and Ellie get sucked into investigating.

What happens is that Ellie blazes the way and Jake follows behind, clumsily

While I did enjoy "Death by Chocolate Snickerdoodle," the reason I'm not rating it very highly is because it felt more like a wacky caper than the typical cozy mystery. The story was less believable than what I'm used to with this type of novel.

Jake and Ellie are preparing for the annual snickerdoodle bake-off, but while they want to do well in the contest, the real reason for their participation is to get Jake's daughter-in-law back in the game. She recently had a baby and is debating going bac

This book starts off fast and wild and I thought to myself, “oh, we’re just diving in okay!” Needed to buckle up, I didn’t know! I really loved that kind of transition from a normal cozy to just go to town and really start with a murder and a hatchet and a very suspicious person.

Jake (Jacobia) and Ellie were so wonderful. They truly are the Lucy & Ethel friends of friends. This is the 4th book in the series (A Death Bh Chocolate Mystery) are tasked to run their bakery and prove Billy’s innocence

Jake and Ellie are determined to prove that a young friend is innocent of the crime most everyone thinks he committed: murder. The duo, along with the town’s police chief, Bob, are sure Billy didn’t do it, even if all the evidence points to him and the state cops say he did it. Ellie and Jake go on the offensive, trying to find out who did kill the victim. They are soon in over their heads, nearly getting caught where they shouldn’t be. Alvin was truly loathsome while he lived and now he's been murdered but not, Jake and Ellie, are certain by Billy Sewell. Billy's sisters convince our intrepid cozy heroines to investigate- they, like everyone else in town, know that there's more than one person who was ripped off by Alvin. The charm of this series lies in Jake and Ellie, two mature women who run a sweets shop, and in the people of Eastport. Small town Maine makes for a classic cozy setting and Graves has populated her town with ...more

Jake and Ellie should really consider getting proper PI licenses with all of the work they do, plus they could consult with Sheriff Bob, that is if he doesn't finally lock them up to keep them safe. This is one action packed sleuthing adventure and the story will have you constantly guessing as to who did in Alvin because we all know it wasn't Billy. A nice addition to a fine series, in this one Jake and Ellie must find the real murderer of local curmudgeon Alvin Brown when it looks like Sam's partner Billy is about to be railroaded as the guilty party by some rather startling circumstantial evidence. The two put their not always successful best efforts into it with a background of summer drought and fires, the onset of mom-brain in Mika and age in Bella, and the quick approach of the local Cookie Bake-Off. Sarah Graves lives with her husband John, a musician and luthier, and their black Labrador Retriever in a house very much like the one Jacobia Tiptree is remodeling in Eastport, Maine. When she's not writing Jake's adventures, Sarah works with her husband on the house and she plays the 5-string banjo.
