Lust #1A

Trust in Lust, Part One

Rate this book
How in the hell did I get here?

And by here, I mean in a cave, about to shoot my boss in the ass . . .

I'm Vaughn. Special Agent Juliana Vaughn and I bet you're wondering just how I got here too? Well, I guess that's the special part. See, I'm a Sixer, born with an extra sixth sense. Fresh out of training... sort of, and on my very first case hunting a killer that's targeting fellow alumni—unique alumni just like me.

Which is how I ended up in this cave with Sutton—the overgrown ass that took over our department after graduation, hijacked my career, and kept me on a leash ever since—my handler since I still can't control my senses. Not that I blame him, especially when my newest six kicks in, and I can't even walk down the street without feeling everyone's desires, including Sutton's. Talk about awkward.
Other than the constant cockblock routine, I'm okay with him playing bodyguard. Together we make a damn good team—when he listens.

Who am I kidding? He never listens, and I'm so going to shoot him in the ass.

Trust In Lust is the first book in a reverse harem * Why Choose * PNR series. Suitable for readers 18+.

A Fast-paced Suspenseful Paranormal Story that I DEVOURED in 5hrs.
#My 1st by Rhylie, So excited for more in this series!

The story is written mainly from Our heroine, Badass FBI agent Juliana's POV, who's Funny, Snarky, loud-Mouthed And a Sixer (A PNR Power, I.e. she can feel Other's Emotions..Deeply). And we also get two Chapters from Sutton's POV, Her Boss + Partner, Who's Big (In every way *wink*), Growly, Sweet, & Very Protective of Her (Before being her Partner, he was her trainer in the academy AND these two've formed a Connection through the years).
~Only 2 days pass in the entirety of the story, but it was enough to make me intrigued about what'll come next!

Story starts with J & S, Partners of 6 months Now (& Maybe Forever?), on a Lead at their Very strange PNR Serial Killer (& Her 1st) Case. Through her inner monologue, we slowly find more about the Case & the Situation. S+J's banter was hilarious, Omg you can FEEL the Sexy tension b/w these two!!
~Case talks, Bickering, The Lead, Cave & Darkness, (The Blurb scene!!), Weird Feels, Gunning, Doctors & Care, Cute Family, True talks, Past & Sadness, The Bar Scene, Steamy times, Overwhelmed Senses, Past Catches Her (Wtf?! We've got a Cliffhanger!!)..

Now I'd have talked about the people in J's Harem, but honestly, I'm not sure who's gonna be in it just yet. Sutton seems Like a DEFINITE possibility..And God, Sutton Just kiss her already!! The Sexy tension b/w them is over the roof.. and We do get some Swoony scenes b/w the two! (No sex or Lip-kisses though..)
Then There's this possibility of some F/F with Sutton's 'Not-Girlfriend' & Juliana, though I'm not sure.
And towards the end she had sexy times with Carter, who she has an 'understanding' with but he's starting to have feelings for her..I wonder if he'll be a part of the Harem too?

This story has Forbidden Lust with Heart-racing Action & Suspense due to the case & Their pasts (Secrets!). A lot of characters get introduced and I'm really curious to see their roles in the story. There's so many Answers I need and Then the way the story ended (Wtf?!), Omg I can't wait for the next book!!

One word: AWESOME!

I've read my fair share of PNR and let me tell you, the premise for this series is interesting AF. I'm not going to spoil it because it's a HUGE plot description, just know J's special powers are cool as hell, detailed, and unique. They are explained throughout the story and while I'm still not 100% knowledgeable about what's going on, I cannot WAIT to read more. Only a day or two passes in this book but it was fast-paced and so thrilling! The action, the banter, the descriptions...EVERYTHING...was just so addicting.

The blurb says it will be RH. There is just ONE somewhat steamy scene in Part One. BUT the sexual tension between J and Sutton was HAWT. I also adored their understanding of each other and their chemistry. There was even a hint of another female, Lana, that could be involved. I have zero idea where that's going, but the plot was so damn good, I'm just going to roll with it. Strange considering I'm usually alllll about that romance, but the story was just too engaging that I didn't even realize there was no sexy times yet until I neared the ending

Y'all. I'm serious.

I DEVOURED this book. The world building was amazing, the character interactions, the writing, the development was all PHENOMENAL. I seriously can't wait for more. And considering Rhylie Matthews is a brand new author? I'm seriously impressed.

Rhylie Matthews is new to me but let me tell you that I am immediately stalking her FB and Instagram lol. When I say that I started this and could not put it down....believe it. I fell into this book and when the end came....ugh. I almost screamed. I’m ready for the next one. J (as Sutton calls her) has a extra sense that helps her as an FBI agent, but it’s unpredictable and sometimes hard to control. The chemistry between J and Sutton is off the charts hot🔥🔥🔥I also love just the interaction with these two. This is a great start to the RH series. Can not wait to meet the rest of her harem and see where this new world takes me to next.

Amazing debut novel 💗

Rhylie Matthews is knocking it out of the park with her debit novel. Trust in lust is a unique PNR, with a sassy, bratty, and hilarious FMC.

“You can’t live your entire life just staying away from everyone with your wards all the way up. You’re a Sixer, J, there will always be something. You need to remember that. And work on your control more while you’re at it before you slip up.” Sutton

I have never read anything by Rylie Matthews before I was very confused at first. I thought maybe this was book two.. but I kept reading and I realized it’s just very fast paced and that made me go back and reread it from the beginning.. so I know what’s going on now. It seems book one only covers a couple of days and they are action packed. Sutton and Juliana are steamy chemistry and sexual tension tied up in a nice would you get it on already package. I was getting super geeked up for the sexual blow out but I didn’t mind that it’s mostly action..I think Julianas powers are very unique.. and I feel like book two will explain alittle more and it seems like maybe Lana could be involved in the rh as well. Either way whatever happens I’m definitely ready for book two..

This book was not what I was expecting but that is a good thing as I love to be surprised. This is my first book that I have read by Rhyle and I look forward to many more. The chemistry between the characters is off the charts and had me laughing at the wittiness and sarcasm that is found throughout these pages.

The build-up is slow in this book which gives us the time to really get a feel for the characters and what they go through in their daily lives. Sutton is her life line and we definitely see it in this story.

I look forward to seeing how this story continues and what comes next for Sutton and Juliana!

I don’t even know where to begin, Trust in Lust is not at all what I expected it to be. The story that Rhylie has created hooks you in from the start and keeps you invested. After the way this book ended, I need more Juliana and Sutton ASAP!

New to me author and can't wait to read more from her. I really enjoyed this book but that damn cliffy. I laughed a lot during this book because Juliana Vaugh and Sutton were pretty funny characters. Or situations they found themshelves were funny. They both were great characters and they worked so well together.

J and Suttons dynamic is addicting and delicious, and the absolute best!! The sexual tension between them is of the charts and all the more amazing because there isn't actual sex or even kissing happening.
Love the concept of a Sixer, but still struggle to grasp it. There were more parts of the story that were a little bit difficult to follow, so hopefully book 2 and then a reread will help with that (hindsight and all that).

Just kiss the girl!

This book has me feeling all over the place. I held on for the ride and now I’m not quite sure what just happened... but in the best way. It’s definitely a trip and just as it started to get intense it punches you in the face with a cliffhanger!!!! So, let’s rewind and break this down.

At the beginning it took me a bit to understand fully their relationship and the what was going on with the sixer thing. The characters are engaging though and I wanted to know... to understand what this book was about! Also, I just want Sutton to kiss her already!

There are a lot of components of this story... paranormal, FBI, mystery case, some cute kids, smexy tension, more tension, and oh, did I mention the smexy tension? Their chemistry is fire and I need it to ignite!

I’m interested in how this becomes a RH. This one focused mostly on one relationship and then her booty call. There are some possible hints of other harem contenders as well. Even possibly a female member... that whole dynamic was interesting.

It seemed like an appetizer that pulls you in with great flavor but leaves you wanting more... because I do want more. I want to know where Sutton was at the end, I want to know more about her past, I want to know what Carter is all about... And I want them to start that fire!

Mostly told from one POV with one chapter from Sutton. Some heat... hopefully more to come. Mysterious and engaging. When’s the next one? I need it.

Trust in Lust is book one in the Lust series by Rhylie Matthews. It focuses on the main character Juliana Vaughn who is a sixer, a person born with an extra sixth sense. There is a lot going on in this book that I don’t want to give away and a lot of questions are left unanswered (hence it being a series). Vaughn is an FBI agent on her first hunt for a killer, but what she comes across is something more. With the help of her boss and often grumpy handler Sutton they’re going to track down the killer whilst Sutton looks after J. There is some explosive sexual chemistry and some laugh out loud moments from the slightly awkward duo. I guess that’s what happens when you can feel people’s emotions! This is a fast-paced book and there is a lot happening with different characters popping up in various ways. We never quite get to find out about the person that J and Sutton are chasing or why but there are some hints on how he could be similar to J. You’re definitely going to have to keep pace with everything that is going on!

Throughout the book we only get snippets of J and Sutton’s life and how they have ended up where they have. But that add to the intrigue of the story. If you like lots of twist and turns, then this is going to be a series for you…also the cliff-hanger at the end was epic. I can’t wait to see what else is going to happen.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

What the hell did I just read? This was the shittiest book I've read since the beginning of 2020. There wasn't a proper beginning, a proper storyline, proper explanations or a proper ending. I could barely pay attention to what little was there. And the emotional speeches, oh goddess the emotional speeches. I couldn't stand them. Relationships, past events, Lily's past life, were all referred to but never enough that I understood anything. Sometimes it seemed like things were randomly thrown in into the mix to purposely confuzzle readers. By the time I was halfway into the book, there still hadn't been any defining storyline. The entire main part or the one single event that did matter was very short. There were no answers. I get that the author might want to keep us curious but this was just an absolute mess. I am usually generous with ratings but this book definitely didn't deserve it.

4.5⭐
The Chemistry Between Vaughn and Sutton is off the charts. And the way the story is presented is unique and well done making for a completely original PNR. It looks like this will become a reverse Harem but the first book primarily focuses on one relationship and you get a taste of another.

I absolutely love this unique book I only wish it wasn't so short, novella ish length. I understand that it's part one of the first book however. And I can't wait for more.

This story is really intresting our FMC is an FBI agent who has extra senses and empathic like abilities that she's struggling to get a handle on with the help of her partner/boss/they are so in love with each other. He's the caring, protective, Alpha you will make your next book BF.

Instantly you're sucked in to these two characters during a stakeout. And I felt like I was there in the car with them or like I was watching a movie. Their banter, their chemistry, the scenes so well-written. This is definitely an author that knows how to write characters with layers and depth.

This is the type of PNR that has that contemporary feel. The world doesn't know about people with these extra senses. It has a very interesting concept with a nice pace. Nothing is rushed and it takes its time and it does a very good job of showing rather than telling. Which is Huge. Information dumps where books just tell you things instead of showing you are a pet peeve and the way the characters are presented, backstories, the case, the PNR element, how everything is presented is extremely well done in my opinion.

This is a reverse harem and so far we haven't been introduced to a ton of characters which I love. I love when are RH's take a different approach. And its not instantly giving a group of guys. This book focused on this main relationship and the relationship. And the relationship between them makes this book enjoyable to read along with the world building. As well as finding out more as the story progresses as they are working this case and living their life over the course of this day. We do get a look at another relationship towards the end and it was very interesting. Which makes me interested to see where that goes and how this develops is a reverse harem.

I don't mind a cliffhanger at all. I was getting very interesting hitting that climax and I'm really excited to see what happens next . However because of the length and the fact that we're just at the beginning and it very much feels like the beginning. In general we are just scratching the surface there is so much here to be explored. But It definitely feels like it's half of a book. As I said before it is part one of book one. That along with the way it's paced (again I love the way its paced and presented and I hope it stays that way) but because of these factors, I really hope that we just get more information as to when part two of the first book will come out. And if there's an idea of how many books there will be roughly that sort of thing.

And normally I'm not one to need to know all that stuff. I completely respect the writer and their process. It takes as long as it takes. It's nice when we do get to know it it's a nice treat. I totally respect authors but in this scenario my fingers are crossed that we will get more information just because this is absolutely excellent but it is very much the beginning and does feel like the first half of a book and not the whole book. Like you're reading the start of a story in an anthology that can give gets continued later for example.

However please let me stress it is worth to read because it is so well done, it is so unique, and the characters are so well-written. This author has done an excellent job and I really look forward to the rest of the series in the future. And again my fingers are crossed for more information because it really is excellent.

Trust In Lust by Rhylie Matthews
Book 1 in the Lust Series
.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
.
Well ok then.
.
This is Rhylie’s first official book I believe? Other than her story in the Bully King Anthology, so she’s a new to us author and I was excited to see what she was bringing to the table with this one.
.
This was a fast paced PNF read and I enjoyed it. The concept of a Sixer really intrigued me so I was curious going into this. My curiosity grew and I’m now fascinated.
.
Not gonna lie, I didn’t really connect with Juliana. I don’t know if it’s just me, but she didn’t feel real to me at all. But I still enjoyed the story. The flashbacks of their lives really just made me hunger for more and I wanted more of that lead up to where they got to. I feel like that in itself could have been an epic read of a book, I guess there’s a reason to why it is how it is which makes it more interesting.
.
I didn’t expect as many twists and shocking moments as I got so that was a pleasant surprise. I love when a book keeps me on my toes. And then to push me over the edge, there was that epic cliffy. So if your triggered by cliffhangers this isn’t for you until the series is complete, cause I can guarantee you will be left pulling your hair out and moments of intense denial and anger.
.
I enjoyed this, usually I like my books drawn out and really build up anticipation etc but I actually enjoyed the pace of this one. I have a love hate relationship with fast pace books because usually it’s left feeling scrambled and disjointed but this wasn’t like that which I liked. Amazing job Rhylie, I’m looking forward to what you have coming next.

Couldn't @RhylieMatthews give us just one more chapter?? Just one??! The ending and the cliffhanger came and I didn't even know!! It was intense and I was reading so fucking carefully and was feeling sad with tears starting to form and then BOOM "To be continued…"!

When the book started it was a bit confusing but as we go further it's easier to understand as concepts are explained like what a sixer is and what exactly is happening at the moment.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, was constantly curious, had misty eyes while hearing Julianna's feelings, laughed and chuckled with Julianna & Sutton’s banter and omggg the sexual tension, woahh. I'm so ready for them to do and I know it's gonna be blast.

Julianna is cool, a hardcore badass who feels emotions more than she should because of her power and is partners with Sutton who's sometimes calm, sometimes hotheaded and gets awkward whenever the sex is introduced in a topic.

Book 2, I'm waiting for you✷

Quick paranormal read...

I purchased this book via Amazon and received an ARC from the author. I am leaving my review voluntarily. This is book 1 of a series. It does end on a cliffhanger. It is a paranormal storyline and eventually will be a RH.

Triggers:

**spoilers**
Vaughn, aka "Lily" has special abilities that she uses to track down bad guys. She has a crush, full on lust for her trainer/mentor/partner, Sutton.

Sutton, has feelings for Vaughn but he keeps a tight lid on them. Partly because he thinks he's too old for her.

There is alot of chemistry between Vaughn and Sutton. They shower together, hug, have lots of sexy talk without doing the deed. Their interactions are very raunchy. Sutton does not like Vaughn having sexy time with other men. Sutton has a platonic not girlfriend, Lana who is also friends with Vaughn.

A bit of action. A little sexy time. Then ..Cliffhanger.

I look forward to book 2.

I'm not exactly sure how to write this review.
I've been sitting on it for a couple weeks now, but the words still don't want to form.

I didn't dislike this book.
But it also wasn't one of my favorites.

The title seems misleading first of all.
I think I understand where it is coming from, but honestly didn't go the way I thought the book was going too.

It's a slow burn reverse harem.
Like I have no idea who the other members of her harem will even be, slow.

This book ends on a cliffhanger.
A major one.
So I will be tuning in to see what the next book will hold in store for us.

Overall, it is a good book.
And if you are thinking of reading it, I would do it.
But right now idk if it would be one I'd recommend on the fly.

FBI agents and partners - Vaughn (FMC) and Sutton spend the majority of this book bantering (which had me cracking up constantly) and avoiding their obvious attraction for each other. There is a genuine caring, warmness between the both of them even when their both trying to ignore whats going on between them. Vaughn is a complicated character especially with the extra sense (being a sixer) where she can sense everyones feelings. Its a clever twist on her character i think. I really loved the dynamic between Vaughn and Sutton. I literally breezed through this book so quickly because it hooked me in and that cliffhanger ending completely threw me!!! I cant wait for the next book now

Amazing!!

I don’t even know where to begin with this book, sometimes you read something and you just want the worl to pause so you can finish it without any interruptions, this was that kind of book for me. I love the chemistry between Vaughn and Sutton and that ending packed a powerful punch. I cannot wait for part 2, I need all the answers, but more than that, I need Sutton and Vaughn (Lily) to stop fighting their attraction and just give in. Please, I’m not too proud to beg!! Definitely worth one clicking, I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Trust in lust by Rhylie Matthews is the first book in a new series. It's a why choose paranormal book.

This book is full of special powers and sexual tension, and some sexy times.

I loved all the chemistry between the characters, and I hope they will get their happy ever after. The character development was amazing.

Amazing world-building and very well written. I loved the author's writing style.

I would recommend this book, and I'll read the next book when it comes out.

This was an interesting story. J and Sutton are quite the pair. Their chemistry is blazing and their partnership is amusing. There were lots of questions I would like answered but this was a good lead into the series. I'm extremely curious about J's past and how some of the other characters fit into her story. Especially Lana and the chemistry she has with J. I'm not sure where this story is headed and I'm actually ok with that. It works for this book.

Wow! What a great debut! Vaughn is a snarky, fierce, funny FMC. I love her lack of a filter. I laughed out loud several times. This is slow burn-ish. There is lots of tension, but the focus is on Vaughn and Sutton’s platonic, yet but not really platonic relationship. There are a few mentions/introductions to some other guys, but I’m not sure yet who will be in the harem. The story is action packed, and does end on a cliffhanger, so hopefully book 2 is out soon!

‘I secretly loved that he gave in first and let me win. ’

This book was the first I’ve read by Rhylie Matthews and I enjoyed it lots. Typically, I don’t enjoy PNR as much as other genres but this book was thoroughly entertaining throughout.

Vaughn and Sutton are both such wonderful characters and the chemistry between the two of them is palpable from the start. I am so excited to see where this series takes them, and us.

This is only Part One and yes; it did end on a cliffhanger which makes me super excited to read Part Two!

This is an amazing beginning not only to a new series but a new author. The storyline is intriguing and entertaining. The story captivated my attention from page one and held it until the very end. There is humor, intrigue, wit, and chemistry. This is a slow build reverse harem romance with plenty of potential members. I can't wait for more from Rhylie Matthews and this series.

Gasp! And then what happened?

Intense is an understatement. The author throws us in the middle of the action, rolls us through a thicket of sensation, and dumps us out bedraggled and begging for more. I'm in love with the MC already, a full and realistic character, and I simply can't wait to see how this whole thing pans out. A brilliant debut!
