Kate Callaghan’s ‚Crowned A Traitor‘ is literally a hell of a book: its main protagonist Klara is none other than Lucifer’s daughter who is destined to be his heir as ruler of Hell. There are just two problems. Klara really, really doesn’t want to rule Hell. And while this book starts off really strong, the ending is completely unsatisfying because it’s so exaggeratedly surprising. This book has so much promise and such an intriguing idea.
In a world ruled by wicked and cruel Queens, tied irremovably to Hell, and destined to be one day Klara's domain - as the Heiress to Hell - we have the opposing forces of good and evil, duty and desire, freedom and responsabilty warring between each other inside Klara.

I don't know what to make of this book, it started out gruesome yet interesting, but went downhill for a bit. The pacing was off and even though this is just over 200 pages, it felt much longer and not in a good way. I also felt like Klara was all over the place with her emotions and actions. First she hates the Queens, then one helps her, then she protects them. Klara couldn't decide if she wanted to run away from her responsibilities or stand up and help others. Sometimes s ...more

This book was really a big surprise for me.

Crowned A Traitor honestly sounded like a pretty cool and dark fantasy book that I needed in my life. However, the beginning started off pretty slowly for me. Then I had a few boring chapters that I just wanted to skim through. Yet, I kept chugging along with this book and even gave myself some - yay you read a chapter here's some cheese!

This was a fun read and a lot happens, so much in fact that it felt too rushed to meet its full potential.
Trying to fit this much adventure into less than 300 pages is doing this story a disservice. I was looking forward to picking it back up to see where Klara took us, but the descriptions would often fall short and I didn't know where we were headed or why.

I've been following Kate for some time on Instagram and when she posted on her stories that she had available arc spots I had to jump at the chance! I first read the synopsis on one of her posts and were immediately intrigued.
First of the world building is really good, I could actually picture myself being there seeing the things happen. And I kinda fell head over heals in love with the main character Klara. This kind of book is not my usual kind of read, but wow! The twists and turns ...more

I didn't know what to expect when I first started reading Crowned a Traitor. I certainly didn't expect the main character to try a new waitress job in a very special restaurant where they make pizza that nobody should ever eat. When she finds out their real ingredients, her fighting skills taught by one of the three Queens that keeps her captive and "protected" will be useful. Turns out, Lucifer is her daddy and he thought she would be protected with Eve, Lilith and the High Queen. Lucifer howev

So… This is not a bad book, but honestly, I just could get into it. The characters hold no appeal for me, the story was predictable, and many ideas seemed to be only half-developed. I almost DNF it (not because it was bad, but because it was not good enough to get me interested).

Klara has been locked away for her protection by her father Lucifer and “raised” by her three guardians who currently rule over the dark forests of Malum. Crowned A Traitor is a YA Dark Fantasy with an interesting premise and a complex storyline with fights for power and an abundance of paranormal creatures. Unfortunately, I don't think it handled this complexity well as the pacing, and a lack of information left me disinterested.

I’m stunned. I have no words to tell you how incredible this book is, but I will try to collect my thoughts. This story has everything! We have a strong heroine, unique world building, all the twists and turns, and a dash of dark humor . Wow, what a fantastic story! I love reading fairytales and retellings, but it doesn’t always work. With this book, it really does though! Kate Callaghan has managed to write a book, where everything is so well described that you feel like you’re right there with Klara.
Another thing I really like is Klara. She’s cool and totally kick ass, but she’s not perfect. She’s just like the rest of us with fears and doubts. The only difference is that she’s the Heir to Hell!

A wonderfully crafted debut novel from author Kate Callaghan. The blurb caught my attention from the start and I am happy I got the chance to read it.
The story follows seventeen-year-old Klara, who is non-other than Lucifer's daughter, and heir to the throne of Hell. Guarded and trained by the three Queens of Malum, she's a skilled fighter and someday she'll become a magnificent ruler. But that isn't what Klara desires, she's a rebel at heart. While regular daughters ask their daddy for an allowance or a new car, Klara-Daughter of Lucifer goes to daddy for a new heart.
Klara was everything I want my female heroine to be- bold, fierce, witty, adaptable but also kind and humble when necessary. She was quite an engaging and entertaining character who was also slightly ironic character as she possesses the power of revelation but cannot accept her own truth.

This book was totally different than what I normally read, and I loved it. I've been looking for books with morally gray characters for years since I read The Young Elites, and although I wouldn't classify Klara as morally gray, I think she bordered it. i thought the concept of this was totally unique, and as soon as I read the blurb, I knew I had to have it.

I found the story and world in this book really compelling. It was incredibly interesting, and I wanted to know more with every page turn. I think, however, in an attempt to both world build and create excitement for a first book in a series- we lost some character development. It was sometimes difficult to tell who was saying what, and Klara’s internal dialogue was often…said aloud. Had this book been either a little longer, or, the sequel well promised already, I think we would have gotten mor

Unfortunately, this book didn't meet the expectations I had from it’s synopsis which made it seem really interesting, but unfortunately it was too chaotic, too much mixing of mythology that just didn’t work, it felt also like it needed more editing and work on the grammar etc .
