This was an easy to read book that gave a brief overview of the coelacanth. I read this with my 8-year-old grandson as he wanted to do some further research about this unusual fish. The illustrations were ok, but at times my grandson found them confusing as he wasn't sure what he was looking at. The book is shown to be at a 4th grade level in accelerated reader, so younger children may need further discussion about what they've read to fully understand it.

I'm not sure when I read this book; I suspect I did so shortly after I checked it out. Backtracking 9 weeks before 10/4 yields July 26 2009.
Anyway, this is a pretty short picture book for very young readers. I just read it to our 4-year-old (on 2009-10-01), and he said he liked it.

my daughter made me stop reading my books for a few minutes so she could read this to me because she said it was educational and very interesting, and I admit it was ;)
