April, 1970 - Marge, Ida Belle and Gertie have a mystery on their hands when Oliver Blevins, left for dead, crawls from the bayou and ends up in their new backyard with a feverish warning: "They want Ruby."
Slipping into a coma, Oliver leaves them with more questions than answers:
Who are the men who tried to kill him?
And why would they want to kidnap Ruby Babin, the mayor's wife?
And how can the original Swamp Team 3 save Ruby when she doesn't believe she needs to be saved?
I have written 14 books in the Miss Fortune World, licensed fan fiction of Jana DeLeon's Miss Fortune Mysteries. Currently, I'm writing an original paranormal cozy mystery series featuring two enemies-in-life who team with a living medium to solve crimes.
Celia gets married and Gertie, Ida Belle and Marge need to protect Ruby
Gertie meets a guy in town who tries to sweet talk her. The next day when the girls are getting familiar with Ida Belle's inherited home and property where they all live, they hear moaning in the backyard by the bayou. Gertie recognizes the man as the man she met the previous day. They go to the hospital to see him and he is being prepared for surgery. He tells them to save Ruby. They believe he is referring to the mayor's wife, Ruby. It turns out with some investigating that Celia's fiance bought a Ruby wedding ring at a pawn shop and two men plan to steal it back. Then we find out about twins being switched at birth and one is the twin of Oliver in the hospital. I love learning about Gertie, Ida Belle and Marge after they returned from Viet Nam. And we learn more about Walter and Sheriff Lee. Another great read!
I love these books stories of the young original swamp team 3 members that readers fell in live with in the miss fortune series. Granny Magoo is my favorite character , Shari Hearn is my favorite of all the writers and I read every one of the books written in the miss fortune world.
Decent read, I like the take Shari does on a young Ida Belle and Ghertie. I just sometimes feel like the characters are a little off from what I expect based on JD's original writings. But still good.
Great to learn about the beginning of the Sinful ladies society, and the girls mothers. Aunt Lou Anne was definitely a life changing part of their loves and directed the path that changed their lives
I loved it! The author stays true to Jana Deleon's characters. Good story, and the addition of their grandmothers gives us a hint of why swamp team 3 are so much fun.
I highly recommend this fantastic book and the series in which it is to all readers of intriguing mysteries, hilarious scenes, and legendary friendships. Enjoy!
