Ghost of a Gamble was a great romantic read with a touch of the paranormal. My favorite part of this book was probably Bree, she was such a ray of sunshine with a vibrant personality and I loved her character. The author really can write some great dialogue that made the characters feel real. She captured their sweet and slightly awkward romance perfectly. And even when things heat up it still retains that touch of awkwardness and has their personalities shine through even in those scenes.

‘Help wanted immediately, resilient personality, needs to keep an open mind’

Canadian author J.E. McDonald makes her literary debut with GHOST OF A GAMBLE, the first installment in her projected series the Wickwood Chronicles. Her genre – romance comedies with a paranormal twist, romantic suspense, and far future romance. ‘Wickwood’ is a ’sleepy little city pulling in tourists form all over the world with it charming architecture and historic sites. But there’s nothing ordinary about the history

JE McDonald’s book takes a classic ghost reality tv show and gives it a budding romance with great success. The main characters fit well together and their meet-cute is to die for. Whilst their backstories and original meeting set solid groundwork for their relationship, at points it seems rushed in a common rom-com fashion. I also love the side especially Zach’s sister, although Inaya does seem to create more drama than needed. With Bree, I identified strongly with the inability to get out of b ...more

What a great start to what sounds like it will be a really good series. There is mystery, drama and romance, so there is something here for everyone. After losing her job, Bree Tisdale bumps into Zach Liller, the co-owner of a paranormal investigation company. They are looking to hire someone to work as an assistance and Bree talks her way into the job. What happens to Zach and Bree while they are in the house serves as a second thread to the love story they find themselves in as well. I recomme ...more

I have never laughed so hard in my life and poor Bree just could not catch a break! Time after time fro one job after another she got fired! After she was fired from the bakery because she was late, she lucked out and was hired to be an assistant as a ghost hunter, she vowed to prove to the town that they were scammers and they took client's money as EVERYONE knew that there were no such thing as ghosts! Armed with a carpet bag filled with a box of crystals, a woijo board, military boots, and a ...more

Cute PNR about a girl who doesn’t believe in ghosts getting a job with a legitimate ghost hunting business and falling for the brother of the owner who has some special ghost finding talents. It is mostly romance with the ghost hunting as a backdrop but that is ok cause Zack & Bree are kinda awkward and adorable in their interactions. ...more

I loved this book. Bree was funny, and quirky, but also independent, which I loved. I enjoyed the quirky atmosphere, the hauntings, and the hot romance between these ghost hunters. A great read for fans of paranormal romance!

A heartfelt paranormal romance about a skeptic teaming up with a paranormal investigator, Ghost of a Gamble is sure to make you smile. Bree and Zack have perfect chemistry and their banter is irresistible.

The concept was interesting but not original, hunting ghosts in modern era. It was just ok for me as I didn’t really get a sense of growth from the main characters.
