An exciting read from start to finish. My daughter who is 1.5 really enjoyed this book. The illustrations of Hank the horse are so beautiful. This is a wonderful story about the friendship of a young girl and her horse who is her best friend. Through their friendship we learn a bit about horses, racing, what you need for a race and all that it takes to win a Rodeo. If you are a horse lover you’ll love this one and if you weren’t before you’ll be a horse lover by the end of it.
Teaches a child about Barrel Racing and horse care
This story is great for those children who are interested in horses and horse racing with emphasis on barrel racing. I liked how the book offered tools in taking care of a horse as well as instructions on how to ride and barrel race. The instructions in the back were a good addition as well. The illustrations provided movement and emotional moments to fully feel like you were at the event.
Loved horse riding when I was little and was looking for a book to start conversations with my little boys around horses, the relationship with them and taking care of them. This book features the beautiful friendship between Dee, a competitive girl that loves riding, and Hank, her horse, her friend. It touches on how important is practising before an important event and gives a fully detailed description of what barrel racing means. Also, has a little fun twist at the end.
Kids will love learning all about a rodeo in this delightful book. A little girl, Dee, is best friends with her horse, Hank. Together they compete in a barrel race in the rodeo. I could feel the excitement of the race in the colorful, cheerful illustrations. A surprise at the end is the cherry on top.
Ms Ford does a wonderful job telling of hard work, emotions of competition, and being a good sport. A breath of fresh air. Usually told as either the rider is the winner or the horse, Ms. Ford hits on the partnership of riding. Well written and as a 50yr old woman, I enjoyed it.
Any child who loves animals will enjoy this upbeat story about a girl and her friend- Hank - the horse. Excitement builds at a rodeo! If your child has never seen one the can feel the excitement through the words and pictures! Enjoy!
This is such a neat book for kids that enjoy all things horses. There’s something special about the bond of a rider and their horse and when they work together they can only succeed. Great book to introduce kids to rodeos, barrel racing, and horses.
If your child loves horses they will love this book. It is very educational and explains how and what Dee needed to do to barrel race. It is an exciting story with a very fun ending.
