I hadn't looked at music theory for over 40 years. It's not easy to come back to bars, crotchets, rests, accidentals and the tonic triad after so long.
However this book from the Royal Schools of Music is set at Grade 1 so is ideal for the beginner, with many exercises at the completion of each section.
