The story follows Elizabeth and Jon. Jon is a baseball pitcher with a tumor in his finger and a hard childhood. Baseball was the only thing saving him from life. Dr. Elizabeth is an anesthesiologist with a perfect image and an introverted personality. They meet at the hospital that Jon is getting his tumor out in. Elizabeth breaks down in front of him making him wonder whether there is something behind that perfect image of hers.
The story was so good. They both have their problems and they can overcome them during the duration of the book. I love how at first they hate each other and then Elizabeth lets down her characters. Their feelings felt so realistic and happening. They both made mistakes but were able to fix them. I loved them.

This story had hopeful elements that made it a pleasure to read. There was the pitcher - I am so glad that there is a baseball season and a baseball romance is fun to read - who is trying to work through a complication in his career and a doctor who is a part of his care. What made it even better is Elizabeth is not star struck , she does not even realize who he is. Add in her nephew who is happy to welcome Jon into their lives and you get a good story where over time they come to develop a relationship that eventually turns into love.

This is a well written book with strong , well developed characters in Jon and Elizabeth. The author does a beautiful job pulling you into the story with this heartwarming read. It's not love at first sight but once she loosens up the relationship grows. They have issues to work through and I enjoyed watching them navigate through. The story comes to life with descriptive scenes bringing a realistic feel. I loved and would recommend this book.
