Reread 28 may, 2021. Still as lovely as the first time. Still didn’t want it to end. Still thought about it for days after, feeling so warm inside. Andrew and Leah deserve all their happiness

What first caught my attention about this book was the beginning. It wasn’t at all what I expected. It’s from that point you find yourself in love with and in tune with the hero and heroine (Andrew and Leah). You want them to succeed but can’t help but wonder how it’s possible. It’s not like most HR because the main characters aren’t wealthy or Gentry -and I've been searching for a book like this for while.
Winds of Fate steals your heart and you just fall in love with the main characters. Their challenges made me want to cry so many times and tbh, Andrew is just my type. Leah was my baby. I wanted to protect her.
I really loved this book and can’t wait for book two. Saw somewhere that it’s Captain Nino’s book. I already love the Captain so I can’t wait to spend more time in Luctown! 100% recommend.

I love finding new authors and encouraging them, (and it turns out this book was published not long ago!) I don't know how to explain my love for debut novels and seeing the first piece of work an author published. I loved this book.
The primary characters were very well written. Andrew was a yummy, hot character. Loved the quiet strength he exuded. Also loved he and Leah’s growth. Leah was sweet, and I liked when she showed a spark e.g. when dealing with Sheriff Fern. I actually wish the Sheriff had been exiled the first time he was caught defaulting.
The secondary characters made the book fun. I liked Anna, wished there was more to her and Leah’s friendship. Todd and Mimi were just hilarious. Their arguments killed me😂
I commend the author. When I read the author's note and understood her vision even more. Keep going Miss!

As a fan of Historical Romance and with the cover, I expected this to be HR; but it was so much more. The author was inspired by real historical events (which I need to find out more about) but created her own world. The book was refreshingly unique, and I think people who typically read varying genres would enjoy.
I loved the hero Andrew Code. He was a man of good character, something hard to find in romance today. He had few words but many actions. Andrew came from almost nothing, but he had a dream and was willing to work as hard as needed to make it a reality. I greatly appreciated his strength and the care for his unchosen wife.
The heroine Leah was also likable. She was not the typical woman to relocate to the colony at the edge of her country, just a woman who made a mistake in judgment that changed the entire course of her life. She was a skilled laborer who was willing to take a chance and consciously re-directed her thoughts back to the positive many times.
What made my love the book more than the main characters was the setting and story itself. It was new and intriguing. It’s amazing how taking some events that took place three hundred years ago and placing them in an imaginary world makes it feel like an alternate history or even a future dystopia. I appreciated the decision to create a different place that allowed more artistic freedom to the story without feeling the constraints to be true to a real time and place.
Very well written debut. I will read more by Lucia Omonobi; and based on her page, it seems that she is writing Book Two. I look forward to getting it.

A wonderful historical fantasy romance.
Andrew and Leah are both trying to escape horrible conditions in the country they were born into and strike a bargain to travel to a new land and work for five years under a new king in exchange for land. “Repopulating” is part of the bargain and Leah is a bit surprised to find how literally that is taken as soon as the papers are signed. The romance in this one is wonderfully sweet. As one might guess, nothing in this “bargain” is as advertised, with the bosses in charge cheating at every turn, but Andrew and Leah are gentle and patient with one another, and I found myself drawn in immediately to the softness and slow build of their affection for one another, the details of the world-building, and as the two of them began to create a life for themselves on their farm in Luctown through hard work and determination, you can’t help but want to read more. Glad it looks like there will be more in this series!

First I would just like to give a huge thanks to the author for giving me the chance to read her debut novel in the form of an Ebook. While I have not read a ton of historical romances I was really intrigued by the synopsis which seemed right up my alley. Even more so to learn that the events in the book were inspired by actual events in history. Knowing that going in just made the entire book all the more enjoyable for me. The descriptions therein were so intricate, I fell easily into the flow and rhythm of the writing, which meant that I really could read this all in one sitting. My absolute favorite thing about Winds of Fate were the main and side characters. It felt like not only the two main characters were building a relationship and a life together, but the side characters as well. I was so enamored by the successes of Andrew and Leah throughout the book as well as any achievements the two of them made. Even more so when their friends and neighbors would benefit from their successes. This truly is a story about rising above what life has dealt you and building bonds with the people around you. I look forward to seeing where the characters end up in the upcoming book which focuses on a new romance with one of the side characters. Reading this has made me more receptive to historical romances so I will definitely be reading more like this in the future.

Perfect stars for this amazing story!
I don’t usually leave reviews, but I really want the author and other readers to know how I feel about this lovely piece.
Winds of Fate might just be one of my favorite books this year, and I just learnt it was the author’s debut. Her writing was smooth and really simple to delve into and understand. The way the romance between the couple built was lovely and after all they went through in the beginning it was really shocking that the writer found away to make their Love beautiful.
I think the writer’s diction is unique and pretty cause in a way I felt she was trying to ease the readers into the book and make sure we are following. I loved her characterization which gave even the secondary characters their own personality.
Hero and Heroine
Andrew and Leah were just dreamy. Andrew especially! He was a protector and a provider at heart. It was impressive the way the author explained how his past experiences made it possible for him to survive in the new town without it seeming rushed and unreal. I also loved Leah who took the tough conditions with grace and showed strength.
While there was world building, the author explained in the author’s note how it came to be and in a way, I saw it more as a historical romance than fantasy or anything else. In the end, there’s a lot of lessons to take from this book.
I also noted there was a different cover placed within the book and while both are lovely, I understand why the writer felt she needed to do this as the second cover really depicts Andrew and Leah’s relationship. 5/5 stars for this solid debut and can’t wait to read more from this author!

I follow the author’s blog and was curious about her debut, mostly because I enjoy her blog posts. Cause of work and kids I couldn’t read this book as quickly as I wanted but on the bright side, I got to enjoy it more.

So this was my first ever buddy read! And I don’t know if we did it right as we literally were up on video call all day until we finished it. I loved it and felt so sad when it finished because it’s probably the best book I’ve read in too long. Now I’m not saying it’s the best book ever but it just has these elements that make it unique and special and dear to you. Emma and I have been talking about scenes and events since we finished and it’s just like being in a dreamy haze, especially at a time like this. I loved Winds Of Fate, can’t wait to buddy read Hands Of Fate as well and if there’s a 3rd book in the Fated Hearts series, I want that too!

Great story! I love when I can relate with the characters and almost feel what they feel as the book progresses. I love Leah and how delicate but tough and determined she is. Andrews's development in the book was impressive as I didn't think he could get any better but he did! Captain Nino has a place in my heart already 😁
Todd and Mimi where hilarious 😂 The argument about who was barren between both of them and Mimi was like her mother and grandmother were so fertile, how dare he insinuate that she was the barren one!! 😂
Allowing us get a glimpse of the mind of others characters like Fern, Captain Nino, Anna.... was very welcome.

Oh this was such a sweet read *sighs*
Funny enough it didn’t start off sweet and was more gritty. But even then it caught my attention. I guess it was just the right blend.
I loved the world building and the characters, Andrew and Leah especially. Their love was so sweet and this is quite amazing, considering the circumstances they found themselves in.
Already marked Hands Of Fate as to-be-read. Can’t wait to read more from this author and about Aghi/Luctown.

Winds Of Fate was an August read from a new author to me and it was lovely. There are so many things I want to say about this book but ultimately what drew me in was Andrew and Leah’s relationship. Most historical romance novels focus on the physical aspects of a couple’s relationship but in this book we got to see that there’s more to love than that. Andrew and Leah genuinely cared for each other even before they fell in love and you could see this in every action. They put each other first, protected and provided for each other. They were true partners, and when love came, it was like a fairytale.
Andrew Code was a quiet hero (my absolute favorite kind). He was more of a man of action and was determined to become a master of his destiny, so even when he found himself in an undeveloped new town, he took it all as clay and molded it into what he wanted. His character development was impressive and I especially loved the scenes when he was recuperating and had those long, intimate conversations with Leah in their bedroom. Their emotional connection, as well as the physical, were well explored.
Leah Code was as graceful as they come, despite being from a lower class. Realizing the kind of husband she had chosen, she strived to keep up with him. She faced every challenge bravely and still retained her light. I fell completely in love with her inner and outer strength, and just wanted to see her happy and fulfilled in the end.
I’m glad this was a HEA as these characters deserved it more than anything. They changed not just their lives but the lives of so many others.
I learned a lot from this book while getting a steamy romance to go with it. A new favorite for sure.

Book was recommended by a friend and I see why she can’t stop talking about it. This was a beautiful read. I was in tune with Leah and Andrew. Their romance was beautiful and I didn’t want to book go end. I think the world building was really impressive and the writer’s note at the end helped me understand the writer’s vision. This is for people who want steam between a couple who care deeply about each other. It’s also very inspiring. Very impressive from a new author, can’t wait To see what else she’ll be putting out.

As you continue, these emotions transform to others: more hope, expectations, happiness, admiration, worry, anticipation. And on it goes until the end when you feel happy, content and very much in love with both characters and author for making this wonderful experience that is a book. 5 Happy Stars and I definitely recommend.

I couldn’t read this book fast enough. It started heavily then slowed and moved at a very appreciated pace. While I like fast book and Winds Of Fate was fast, I found myself wishing it was longer or slower just so I could enjoy Andrew and Leah more.
I admire the writer’s writing style as it’s simple and pulls you in. Definitely recommend.

This book deserves all the 5 stars it gets! I almost want to fight those people who gave it lower stars, you don’t go into a book that’s different from what you read and get mad that it’s different from what you expected. I loved it and I think it was a strong debut that deserves all the praise it gets xo

What a wonderful book! I loved it!
From the very first page, my intrest was caught. I just kept reading wanting to know what was going to happen next.
I loved the two main characters, Andrew and Leah. Andrew is such a gentleman and he is so good to Leah, he just has this determination to make a good life for himeself and Leah no matter the circumstances. He's a man who wants to be the master of his life and he does everything to get to that point. I loved his strength and determination, he is such a steady and comforting presence for Leah. You just feel safe with him. I just loved the guy!!
Leah is such a sweetheart! I loved how sweet and kind she is but also so very strong. She has been delt some awful blows from life but through it all, she always stands tall and tries her best to keep that hope and works hard to make things better for herself. I loved that she was a support to her husband just as he was to her.
I loved the evolution of their relationship, they met in such an awful situation but they chose to make the best of it, to build a life together. Their love for each other blossmed slowly but it was deep and you could clearly see that they have truly come to care for each other. It was lovely to read about their slow burn romance, it warmed my heart!
I also loved the secondary characters espcially Todd and Mimi! I felt todd really redeemed himself and I loved the change in him.
The world building was excellent, I could clearly imagine myself in town with them and I enjoyed reading about their day to day life.
I thank the author again for providing me with a copy for a review. I have enjoyed this debut immensely and I'm looking forward to what you have next!

I have been up since reading this book and I must say I love the characters
Who would have taught the writer could play with the characters and still give them a nice twist!
Like I am speechless a debut author wrote this,it was soo real...I dont even feel you should be tagged as an upcoming writer the book was perfect....And I couldn't drop my phone for one second cos I didn't want to die of suspense. I just wanted to keep reading and reading, and now I am done, it's like I should go back and start from the beginning. Keep up the good work dear, this work of art you created is amazing just so you know and pls I like to read more of your books .THANK YOU

Enjoyed reading about Andrew and Leah. They were such a good couple who survived such hard times. They were also really amazing to each other. I liked how both gave to the other without waiting for something in return and even spoke to my husband about it.
One of the scenes that really moved me, was when she discovered that drinking wine would help her food digest better and Andrew worked his behind off to get her more wine. I got a little teary during that scene.
Leah and Andrew were characters that are quite hard to find in books these days and I think this is an enlightening and inspiring book everyone should have a look at.
Great work from a debut author... In a way I feel the purity in writing about the characters comes from the author’s newness and hope she doesn’t change her style.

This is my best book this year. No jokes.
It’s very different and fresh. I really loved the world building and had a love-hate relationship with Luctown. The characters were so well written and their love story teaches lots of lessons. The secondary characters were also so sweet. Looking forward to book two!

4.5 stars for this very lovely read!
It was perfectly paced with a general theme that is encouraging.
The beginning was tough and gritty but either way it was still very gripping, mostly because the MCs were just sweet souls that steal your heart. I enjoyed following their journey in Luctown and the destination was well-deserved. This book deserves all the amazing stars it gets!

This was a solid read from a debut author! She offered me a review copy but I offered to buy it instead and I didn’t regret it! I only wish I could get a paperback for my library.
Winds Of Fate is a book that wraps its fingers around your heart and holds tight without you being aware. It’s sweet, it’s heartbreaking, it’s shocking, it’s so many things, I don’t know how the author was able to blend it all. In the end, I felt it went too quick simply because I was already so invested that I wanted to read more. I won’t say too much as the book is most appealing when you start without really know what to expect. Will definitely read Hands Of Fate once it’s out!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book. The cover gave me the traditional cheesy romance vibes which don’t get me wrong I’m all for, but I was surprised by the unique world this book created.
It was set in a sort of old fashion land where the higher class ruled and if you weren’t born into it you had little or no opportunities to improve your life. That’s how we find the main character Leah signing up for a perilous journey in the hopes of a new start in a different city. Her adventure doesn’t turn out as planned, but thanks to a slave named Andrew, she still has a chance at happiness even with all the disappointments she faces.
I adored the two main characters. They were both instantly likable. I was rooting for them the whole time and whenever something bad happened to them my heart sank into my stomach. They were both believable and well written and they were true heros each in their own right.
The plot was amazing too with a villain that everyone loves to hate and a set of sweet side characters that added to the story with their limited perspectives.
The only reason I can’t give this story a full five stars is because it needs another scrub through by an editor. The version I read had a lot of errors and misspellings that would jar me out of the story but besides for that this book was incredible. The author has since informed me that she is aware that her original editor did a poor job and has been cleaning up the book so I’m sure for the new readers it’ll be much more polished.
This is a must read for any fans of romance and this is an author to watch for sure.

I Came across this book on Bookstagram and decided to give it a try. I definitely saw why the Booksta owner gushed so much about it! This was a “lovely read”. Though it started off harsh and brutal, the author proceeded to weave it all into a lovely tale that just makes you not want to put it down. I loved it and will definitely recommend!

Loved it! Pretty much loved everything. I was really impressed by the smooth delivery of the story and details. Loved the storyline and plots. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommend this book to all lovers of great love stories.

Fantasy’ is not a book category that I typically read… and I’m not even sure it’s the right classification for this excellent novel. The author deftly creates a world into which she unleashes an array of memorable characters. I want to be careful to not give away any spoilers, because this story is a well-written page-turner, and I think it’s best enjoyed when you don’t know what’s coming next.
Suffice to say that Andrew and Leah are both very good souls who are trapped in a nightmare, and they are incredibly deserving of their HEA. The villains are so vicious and terrible they really make you cringe. Even in Chapter One, the stress and the fear inflicted on the hero and heroine is already palpable. The story builds smoothly, and I loved the very satisfying epilogue! It is a reward for the characters and for the reader.

The beginning of this book will grip you and sets the story in motion perfectly, which I prefer to books that begin at a snail’s pace. And I felt that the author did an excellent job of keeping the tempo throughout so that the reader doesn’t want to put the book down until they finish it. The characters were well-developed and endearing, both main and secondary. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as the book progressed, then I fell in love with Andrew and Leah and how their relationship developed as they built their new world together. And while Leah was sweet, she showed her support of Andrew and her own strength near the end.
Mimi and Todd were too adorable, yet the secondary characters merely enhanced the story without stealing the limelight from the protagonists. The antagonist (the Sheriff) was maddening, as it should be, and you’ll find yourself rooting for his comeuppance. There were some parts where I would have preferred action to narrative and the spacing format could have been cleaner. Yet, the book was a well-written love story that exquisitely depicts the difficult times of long ago. Anyone who loves historical romance will certainly enjoy this book.

Ooooooooh! I loved this book! I couldn’t stop reading from the moment I picked it up. I felt like I was in this bubble and just didn’t want to leave.
I loved Andrew! Lord if he’s out there please send me my Andrew! The way he cared for my heroine, Leah, was so beautiful and kind and tender. And Leah was also lovable and hardworking. She never stopped pushing to work.
I loved Todd, Mimi, the Captain, Anna, and even Sergeant Tate! The world building was really captivating and I highly recommend this book!

Very interesting and captivating story! Was far beyond my expectation, the setting, the development and overall the ending had me all excited and interested as I was reading it. Andrew and Leah’s perseverance was so admirable! Keep up the great job 👍, definitely looking forward to the next book from this series 😃
