Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trope: Captive, enemies to lovers Angst: 😰😰😰 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Triggers: human trafficking, prostitution, noncon
Ahhhh Villainous... where to even start? I FLOVED it! This book is DARK. Villainous is NOT a nice man. He sells people. Unapologetically evil and he is P!SSED. Maya, the only person that has ever warmed the cold biscuit that's his heart, up and disappeared on him 6 years ago, leaving him colder and angrier and more, well, villainous. When he finds her again, he's decided he's going to make her pay. Locks her in a dungeon. Tortures her - just because he can. But Maya has secrets. Secrets and reasons and when Villainous finds out the truth all the pain he has wrought comes back to bite him in the @ss. Great story. Loved how the heroine doesn't just forgive him and let him off the hook. Can't wait to read the next book in the series!
* Villainous can be read as a standalone and is told in first person, dual perspective
It's dark... like "really" dark! The H traffics women; he deals with prostitution, kidnapping women and sex slavery. The H is anti-hero through n through. He doesn't sugarcoat things and says upfront that he is gonna kill the h, when he kidnaps her, for running away from him 10yrs ago and breaking his black heart. The H does despicable things to the h before he gets to know why she did all that she did. The H is a psycho who gets high on death and gore and the h isn't far behind. We see a new side of the H when he gets to know that he has a son and then starts "trying" to grovel to get the h back. I liked that the author didn't portray the h to be celibate while they were separated for 10 long years. They both had their own lives and flings before they got back.

Tucking my Glock back into my holster, I march up to her and yank down her leather pants.
She screams, and tears slither down her cheeks as she bangs her tiny fist on my hard chest. I pick her up and slam her face forward onto to the couch, pinning her down on the cushion. I snap her G-string and a pop sound bounces off the beige walls.
I smirk. “I’m going to have fun shooting my cum into you again.”
“Get off me, Aiden!” she shrieks.
I lean down and whisper. “It’s Villainous to you. You have to earn that right to call me by my real name again.”
Chuck balls up his fist. “Get the fuck off of her!”
Vito clutches the back of his neck, forcing him down on his knees, brushing the barrel of the gun on the side of his temple.
I squeeze her ass cheeks. “Where is the fuck is the tattoo?”
She flinches, her eyes widen, and she shakes her head.
I remove my handkerchief from my breast pocket and clean her right ass, removing the makeup, and exposing the tattoo of my name surrounded with roses and thorns.
I smirk. “There it is. You see, Chuck. This little dove belongs to me.”
Villainous is a dark mafia romance. His first love Mia took off and left him. He wants to get revenge. Now head the trigger warnings because Villainous is not for the faint of heart. He is an extremely dark character.
Mia has kept so many secrets from Villainous that he can hardly control his anger. Once all of the secrets were revealed I was rooting for Mia and Villainous.
Both characters had a darkness inside fo them and embraced that darkness. I loved that they didn't change into "good guys" for the sake of the story.
This writer is extremely talented and her pacing of the story was perfect. The character development was on point. The characters are NOT good people and I honestly didn't love them. I did however love the story and it hooked me from the first page.
It had twist and turns and kept me on the edge of my seat . We also got to see Devious and his woman from the first book in the series. We got to see where their life was going during this installment.
I can't wait to see where this author takes the rest of this series. It's not flowers and chocolates kind of love but an intense connection between dark characters. It was a 5 star read for me!
I love my antiheroes. Give me the dark and twisted alpha males and I am a happy girl. Villainous was no exception. He was dark, demanding, possessive and downright cruel. There were moments where he crossed so many lines I worried he was irredeemable. The things he does to Maya, and the lengths he goes to … he really earns his name.
Maya was a puzzle. We don’t know what she has done or been through but she is so strong and stubborn, I couldn’t help but to laugh at her snarky attitude. Her character came across as truly genuine, and it made the story that much more realistic. The way she endures everything Villainous puts her through is incredible.
I’ve been waiting for Villainous’s story ever since Devious released, and man did it not disappoint. Absolutely mind your triggers, there are many and the warning is not to be taken lightly.
Villainous by J.M. Stoneback is a dark mafia captive romance. This is the second book in A Villain Collection.
I am a little torn on this story because I just couldn't connect with Villainous and Maya. I felt like the story just jumped over Maya being captured and being held captive before she became Villainous pet. I also felt like the ending was rushed to give them their happily ever after moment.
I still look forward to reading the next book in the series Berserk that will be releasing on July 24, 2022.
If you want to give the book a try, I would suggest it if you like dark romances, captive romances, mafia romances, or second chance romances.
This was such a hot, dark and sexy second-chance romance!
Villainous definitely lives up to his name and Maya was the one that got away… until he hunted her down and made her his captive. But once those old feelings resurfaced and the buried secrets were exposed, all bets were off.
So I read book 1 (Devious) and even though there were quite a few things that I didn’t like and things that were very inconsistent the story wasn’t done so I plowed on into book 2 🤦.
Aiden (Villainous) is a vile character and Maya ends up being no better by the end.
I like dark romance but this wasn’t that for me. There is nothing redeeming about these characters and they definitely didn’t deserve any kind of hea.
This book was enjoyable. Started out strong with everything I love in an alphahole. He was wicked, unrelenting, and all kinds of sexy. Then the ending felt rushed as it all was tied up in a happy bow. Villainous was so angry for so long and in one instant he did a 180 and she just forgave him so quickly.
What a mind f***ing twisted love story filled with mafia drama and action 😍😍
I think Villainous perfectly lives up to his name. He is a villain and this is his story of love and redemption.
Honestly don't go into this book to get pure romance but definitely expect a twisted version of romance because both Aiden aka villainous and Maya are twisted and carry a darkness within that complements each other.
This is definitely a dark love story so don't expect light romance. A man who's a killer and does it in the most brutal and innovative ways. Whereas Maya is a woman betrayed by her own and carrying burden of secrets and the pain of losing her first and only love.
Now years after leaving him, Aiden finally has the woman who not only was a light in his darkness but also shattered his heart to pieces.
He is one of the most dangerous and Ruthless man for a reason. What he wants now is revenge on the woman who destroyed him.
So he keeps her as his pet and dishes out revenge in the way he knows best.
BUT.. OMG... THAT SECRET.. OUT OF THE BLUE... CHANGES EVERYTHING.😲😲😲
I loved how this story changed it's tone but not it's essence. Where a villain like Aiden can be a villain and yet love fiercely like no other.
I loved how utterly different and challenging this story was. It made me struggle with how villainous was and yet as a person he always does right by his famiglia.
ALSO.. I LOVED LOVED SEEING MY FAVORITE COUPLE, DEVIOUS & ROSELYN ONCE AGAIN.
I love this series freaking so much and can't wait for more in this world. Loved loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm going to start out by talking about the fact that this book is DARK AS HELL, and since it even gave me pause (and I LOVE me some dark stories), I urge you to pay attention to this warning. Mia was a girl who got away from Aidne "Villainous" Vitali, a dark mafia boss who doesn't play when he feels wronged. He finally hunts her down & all hell is about to break loose since she has secrets that he's going to do whatever it takes to get her to reveal them. And don't expect the love he felt for her in the past to actually save her because he does all kinds of terrible things to her, and I despised him for too long to actually finally fall for him. These two people are not the kind of people who I normally imprint on, but I also can't walk away from them either because of the highly addictive writing style of this author. I'm not upset at the darkness, but I do feel like it took him too long to thaw out as the ending felt a bit too rushed after all the intensity that I experienced. Anyway, this is only my opinion, and if you are okay with super DARK elements, then please decide for yourselves by hitting those one click buttons! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is one of those books you can't put down until you find out how it turns out. I was totally hooked. Aiden "Villainous" Vitali and Maya have a love/hate relationship. I'm thinking it's more of a HATE relationship. Villainous is definitely the Villain in this story. Maya has been hiding from him for years, but he has her now and I think his name should have been The Tormentor. They grew up together until something happened and she left him. He spent years looking for her while being the underboss to his brother in a major crime family. When he finds her he is merciless, he has so much animosity towards her leaving. I kept waiting, reading and turning pages trying to figure out why she left him. I haven't read a book like this with the two main characters going at each like rabid dogs. They both say they hate each other, but do they really. I guarantee you will be lured in just like I was. Don't miss out on a really good book.
Aiden, aka Villainous, has been searching for years for Maya, the girl who broke his ❤️ in high school. They had an arranged marriage but they were still very much in love, until one day Maya disappeared without explanation. And now that he has found her he is going to make her pay for all the damage she caused him and the big hole she has left in his heart. He many times he doesn't know whether to kill her or love her. And while she's clearly having an effect on him, the first few months he put her through hell. But when he finally discovers the truth of everything, he lets go of his anger, only Maya is not so willing to wipe the slate clean and start over again after everything he has put her through. I loved both characters and the story had me hooked. The truth is that Aiden always managed to keep me on my toes, you never know what he might think of next, for example, boiling water and sugar…😱.
WOW!! This book is aptly named. Villainous lives up to his name. He is a dark soul that feels no remorse for getting his hands bloody. He is definitely the Vitale brother I would not wan to meet in dark alley. He is the dark bad boy my could black heart craves. There is nothing he will not do when someone has wronged him. Maya Devoy has been doing well with hiding from her past. When it sneaks back up on her when she least expects it her life takes a turn for the worse. She stole Aiden's heart when they were both teenagers. When she left she took his heart with her. When he finally gets her back he makes sure to make her pay for her sins. What happens when truths come to light? Will Villainous open his cold heart to Maya? Will Maya forgive Villainous for his actions? Trust me you need to grab a copy of this book to get these and many more questions answered. Be warned there are trigger warnings at the beginning of the book. Take them seriously. This is a dark romance and there are scenes that you may find offensive.
*Triggers: Everything you can think of*. This one here was not for me. I just couldn't wrap my head around Maya. She continued be be in love with a man who treated her horribly. To willingly stand by someone and condone sexual slavery, made her no better than him. They attempted to make her strong, but she was weak.
This is my first read by J.M. Stoneback; Villainous is a dark mafia captive romance, standalone and book #2 in the A Villain Collection series. Aiden “Villainous” Vitali, is not your typical antihero: an under-boss in the Italian mafia and killer without any qualms. He is dark and dangerous and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty (or more like bloody). The kill gives him a rush of excitement; Villainous is proud of what he does, he has no remorse for his actions. Villainous inflicted pain in the worst possible ways; he tormented, humiliated and degraded Maya. His actions were disturbing and unsettling, to say the least. And this caused me to have a negative view of him, but he did redeem himself later on in the book. And Maya tried so hard to stay strong, to not show him that his actions hurt her immensely. He was controlling, harsh, cruel and vicious. However, seeing him at war with his emotions did soften my views a little bit. He could not comprehend why he was still in love with Maya, but it still didn't excuse his behavior. She hated her situation and Villainous' dirty appalling acts, yet she couldn't stop the way her heart and body reacts to him. After all, it's difficult to forget your first love. They want to hate each other but it was impossible with the hostile, thick s*xual tension between them.
Slowly, I started to connect the dots or more like work out the reasons why Maya left. There were little hints in the first half, and once I reached the second of the book my theory was correct! I did enjoy reading this book but personally, I found some aspects of the story a bit rushed. I wanted to see more "world and character build up", especially Maya's character. She's an okay character but I wasn't able to warm up to her. I think her character needed a bit more development. Please don't get me wrong, it's still a good quick dark mafia romance read. And I'm looking forward to reading more of this author's work.
Villainous and Maya have a history, she was his first and only true love and vice versa. But when she suddenly disappeared/left without saying a word he was never the same. Maya leaving him affected him deeply, hence Villainous couldn't look at any other woman the same way. A decade later, their paths crossed; he finally found Maya. Abducting her, Villainous wants answers and if Maya doesn't respond to those questions, her life will be in the balance; he will kill her.
**I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review
There are warnings at the beginning and for good reason, this definitely is a very dark, brutal story but… it is also very addictive. Once you start reading you are completely absorbed in the story and find yourself needing to know what happens to the lead characters. Villainous and Maya.
Aiden ‘Villainous’ Vitali is a mafia underboss and is definitely fixated on murder, watching the life leaving somebody’s is his addiction. To say he is not a people person is an understatement. After Maya left him he became obsessed with finding her and punishing her, yet he still loves her. He is a complex man and not one easily liked yet as with most dark souls there is a background that explains quite a bit. Maya is also an interesting character who hates Vil one minute yet says she also loves him too. Honestly, with the way he treats her, I would hate him too.
Along with this inflammable and obsessive relationship are things going on that intrigue and add excitement. There are some terrific twists in the story and one of the best things about this story is its uniqueness!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
He's my worst nightmare, and I've been running from him for ten years. My rules are simple. Keep my head down and don't draw any attention to myself. In hope that he won't find me. But he does. The most notorious mafia underboss, Alden "Villainous" Vitall, wants answers on why I left him without a word. If I refuse to tell him why, then he'll kill me. The choice is mine. Talk or die.
This is a dark mafia romance about Villainous and Mia. You need to heed the warnings in the front of the book because this book has a very dark character in it and it might hold triggers for some people. Mia was his first love and one day she took off and didn't say a word. No he want's revenge for her just hitting the road and saying nothing. Now if I was Mia I might be a little afraid for my life and for him to find me. Villainous has this darkness inside of him and he is not the person that you ever want to cross. But Mia is keeping secrets from him. Big secrets and once they all fall like a hammer what will happen between these two? Well, you have to read to find that out. I don't want to talk a lot about the story to much because I am afraid I will give something away for someone. This book is full of twists and turns and will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you have read the first book then you will be thrilled to get to see Devious in this book too. I am loving this series and can't wait to see where the third book takes us.
☆☆☆☆☆ Villainous was a dark, twisted thrill ride that my heart loved to absorb like I needed it to breathe. I had never read this author before this series and I love their style of writing that beckons to me in the best of ways. Maya Devoy fell in love with Aiden “Villainous” Vitali as a teenager until something happened that made her run from him. When she did, she might as well have cut his heart out and stomped on it. His wounded and really angry need for revenge became an entity all its own, that he carried with him as he searched for her. Just as Maya has created a life that at least made her content, Villainous storms back into her life like a tornado made of rage and deeper, hurt. What occurs after he finds her is DARK. Please heed the dark warnings you get regarding this book. This was a story that sucked me in from the first page, locked the door and wouldn’t let me go until the last page. I struggled a great deal with Aiden's character and his treatment of Maya, after finding her. When the secrets were unveiled, shocking all, I saw the man that she originally fell for. I enjoyed their story so very much and I can’t wait to read more from this world. I recommend this book to all dark romance novels, especially mafia related. This is my honest opinion, freely given.
There are warnings at the beginning and for good reason, this definitely is a very dark, brutal story but… it is also very addictive. Once you start reading you are completely absorbed in the story and find yourself needing to know what happens to the lead characters. Villainous and Maya.

Villainous is my first read by JM Stoneback. The author has a trigger warning regarding the dark aspect of the book. Villainous embraces all his darkness. He lives and breathes for it. He definitely won’t make you feel hearts and flowers, but a dark and forbidden passion. Overall I enjoyed reading the book and meeting a new author. This book is an interconnected standalone, but I may read the first book in this series to see if I can better connect with this family. I did struggle to connect with Maya, although, as I read the book and more was revealed regarding her life, I came to better understand her.
Villainous, Aiden Vitali, has been sent to find his fiancé, Maya, who has been on the run for 10 years. She is to be used to find her brother because the Italian’s and Irish are at war.
Kidnapped and held at Villainous’ mercy, Maya refuses to give him the information he wants most- why she left him.
He degrades her, uses her as a pawn, and continues to suppress his feelings. Letting his hate overwhelm them both.
Maya has been used and abused her entire life by her family. And, now back in Villainous’ world his anger and bitterness is eating at any idea she had of them reconnecting.
Villainous is the second book in the ‘Villain Collection’ series and tells the story of Aiden ‘Villainous’ Vitali, underboss in a powerful Mafia family, and Maya, his teenage sweetheart who mysteriously disappeared from his life 10 years ago without explanation. Aiden has been searching mercilessly for Maya and finally finds her, kidnaps her and holds her captive while he exacts his revenge on her for leaving him and breaking his heart all those years ago.
I really enjoyed this well written dark Mafia twisted romance which had me hooked and intrigued from the start. The storyline is thrilling and full of secrets and betrayal, twists and turns, violence and mayhem, the spicy sex scenes are pretty steamy which makes it a very easy to read page turner. It really is one emotional, dark and delicious rollercoaster.
A very good addition to the series and I look forward to further instalments from this author.
I received an ARC of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Villainous & Maya have a 10 year complicated history full of blood and sex. Now he was sent by his twin brother Devious to kidnap her and break her to tell him where her brother Cashel.
"It's Villainous to you. You have to earn the right to call me by my real name again" So there first meeting is her with her boyfriend and Villainous shoving a gun in her boyfriends face...yes it was a tense stand off that ended bloody
First love is a tricky love story especially when it involves rival mafia families. I love their love story BUT why did she runaway from him 10 years ago when he gave her a secret garden and she got a tattoo of his name...all they devotion to each other and it all ended...why?
I will admit I was more interested in their history than the mafi wars history. Ahhhh these two are very tense and they fight like cat & dog. He is keeping his Dove in a cage until he learns the thruth...no spoilers Next ge wi be releasing the Devil inside her. Get ready for blood
Get ready for WAR between the Irish & the Italian...
When villainous was introduced in the first book devious by J.M. Stoneback. I was so fascinated by this character and was desperately waiting for his books to come out. Villainous came across as a crazy devil of a man in this first book. But very frankly I didn't expect his book to be the way it is.
Villainous in this book is still that crazy devil but you get to see a side to him that I think was so beautiful and unexpected. Especially the second half took my breath away. He is one of those, who seems super hard and crazy on the inside but once you know get to know him, he is all mushy and beautiful. On the other hand, I found Maya to be such a strong character. The adversities she faces in the book are scary. But she fights them like the superwoman. I loved her vulnerable side too.
Coming to the writing, this book is well written. It is fast paced, a little short for my taste but it delivered everything soo well.
Would highly recommend this book to alm the dark romance lovers out there .
This is my first read of this author. The book can easily be read as a stand alone. it is a dark mafia story and really takes some time before there are any feel good moments.
Maya and Villainous have a history. She was the girl that got away and he has never forgiven her for breaking his heart all those years ago. They both have secrets as well. Their hearts recognize each other but there is so much pain to overturn. Neither are willing to just forget what happened but perhaps they can forgive and move on.
There are a couple of twists in the story. I suspected the major one. If you do not like dark romance, then this book isn't for you. I admit to sometimes scratching my head and saying "why?" at some of the actions between these two.
I don't know that i will continue with the series. We do see Villainous' brother and his wife in this story so if you want to have no surprises, you should start with the first book.
An ok read for me.
*Complimentary copy [provided for an honest review.
Villainous (A dark mafia captive romance) (A villain collection 2)
This is the second book in this collection by this author and another fantastic story from them. This is the intense story of Villainous and Mia, these two characters have a back story together but can they have a future together as well. This story has it all twists and turns, action, suspense , secrets and definitely hot and steamy. This story will have you on the edge of your seat throughout. This is a fantastic addition to this series from this author.
I was given an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my honest review
He's pure evil. He loves to take the lives of those that wrong him. He is the ruler of the darkest parts of the Mafia. Taking lives and selling them.
He has zero regrets about the life he lives.
When the only woman he has ever loved breaks his dark, cold heart, his rage intensifies. He will get what he wants from her and then will send her to her grave.
They have a history, a deep rooted past that makes things a lot harder. Seeing Maya battle everything she feels is intense. She knows exactly who Villainous is. She knows what he's capable of and has experienced it tenfold.
Her heart makes me question it all.
They have so much against them. They're not a typical couple. Honestly, they shouldn't be one but, they have this intense fight to make it all work.
They're two magnets that pull towards each other, no matter how far apart they are.
Villainous is a dark mafia romance full of twists and turns you won’t expect . This is such a dark read and boy do I love dark romances .what a truly amazing love story . I loved the first book in the series ( Devious ) so I knew without a doubt I was going to love this one as well .Aiden and Mya what a couple - I could nor help it , I fell in love with both of them so easily .Maya stole his heart and left him heartbroken when she walked away without any explanation. If you love protective alphas then you will definitely love Aiden , he always gets what he wants no matter the cost . What he wants is to make Mya pay for all the hurt she caused him . Omg . You really need to read this !!! So hot and emotional full of intrigue, steam , off rhe charts chemistry and dark , twisty and deliciousness.
