Nelson Mandela's life is the story of a country boy and his fight for the black people of South Africa. His struggle against apartheid led to twenty-seven years in jail. After he was freed in 1994, he went on to become the first black president of South Africa. The extraordinary story of a great man, a freedom fighter and one of the world's most important leaders.
I am fascinated by history and especially about icons that I have grown up with on the news. It is approximately an hour read depending on how fast you can read. For a person who as learning needs or as a second language then this may take a little longer. For a brief insight into what Mandela has achieved then this book is for you. With only 23 pages and a few questions at the end on the book, it is an introductory series for comprehension exercise. I would have like a little more information on what Mandela has been achieving but as other reviews have stated, I may need to read the autobiography for this. Now, would I recommend this book – yes, for learners that need extra work on their comprehension skills and possibly for a quick read on a train or bus.
