Raymond Sibley faithfully recounts the Snow White fable originally written by the Grimm brothers and included as Tale 53 in their Fairy Tales book of 1812 when it was entitled in the original German 'Sneewittchen', the modern spelling of this is 'Schneewittchen'.
Snow White a queen longed for a beautiful daughter and in due course her wish came true. But it was not all plain sailing as she was jealous of her daughter's beauty. This situation prevailed until the queen died and Snow White's father married again but the new queen was extremely vain and her vanity was fulfilled every time she asked her magic mirror who was the fairest of them all and was given the answer that she was.
But once Snow White was older she superseded the queen in the eyes of the mirror so the queen decided that she should be done away with. But things did not turn out how the queen planned them and Snow White found her way into a cottage owned by some dwarfs.
Further attempts were made to kill her but the dwarfs protected her, that is until a fateful decision to eat an apple looked as though it had killed her. However, things took a turn for the better when a prince rescued her and when carrying her away a jolt caused the apple in her throat to dislodge and the rest was history ...
