A Witch of Edgehill Mystery Box Set

Rate this book
Every town has its secrets, but no one has a secret like hers.

Amber Blackwood, lifelong resident of Edgehill, Oregon, has earned a reputation for being a semi-reclusive odd duck. Her store, The Quirky Whisker, is full of curiosities, from extremely potent sleepy teas and ever-burning candles to kids’ toys that seem to run endlessly without the aid of batteries. The people of Edgehill think of the Quirky Whisker as an integral part of their feline-obsessed town, but most give Amber herself a wide berth. Amber prefers it that way; it keeps her secret safe. But that secret is thrown into jeopardy when Amber’s friend Melanie is found dead, a vial of headache tonic from Amber’s store clutched in her hand.

Edgehill’s newest police chief has had it out for Amber since he arrived three years before. He can’t possibly know she’s a witch, but his suspicions about her odd store and even odder behavior have shot her to the top of his suspect list. When the Edgehill rumor mill finds out Melanie was poisoned, it’s not only the police chief who looks at Amber differently. Determined to both find justice for her friend and to clear her own name, Amber must use her unique gifts to help track down Melanie’s real killer. A quest that threatens much more than her secret …

This box set includes the first three books in the Witch of Edgehill paranormal cozy mystery series:

A Witch of Edgehill Mystery Box Set
by Melissa Erin Jackson
This series is so good! It is a supernatural mystery set and I would say above the typical cozy mystery. There is a lot more depth in the characters, world building, and the mysteries themselves.
Each novel is excellent! I was totally wrapped up in the story! I love this odd town and the quirky community. The back story is revealed slowly. The whole thing is so cool! This set has books 1-3! I loved every one!

This boxset contains the first three books in this series; Pawsitively poisonous; Pawsitively Cursed; and Pawsitively Secretive and is a paranormal cozy mystery series. The main character is Amber Blackwood who owns a shop called The Quirky Whisker, full of curiosities, in the town of Edgehill, Oregon. The town has lots of secrets, but none quite as big as hers. Other than potent teas and ever-burning candles, her main draw is the toys she sells that run forever and never seem to need batteries. A bit of magic keeps them running long enough, until most kids are bored of them, never realising that anything is strange about the toys. The only one who seems to have a questioning gaze on her during her frequent toy demonstrations, is Owen Brown, the local police chief. He was used to big cities like Portland, before moving to Edgehill with his family some three years before. Edgehill is well known for its feline companions ad is obsessed with anything to do with cats.

Amber is visited in her shop by her good friend and patron Melanie Cole, who has been fighting some sort of persistent illness for some weeks. Even one of Amber’s own remedies doesn’t seem to be helping. She gives her another vial to help with her headache and that is the last time she sees her friend alive. The headache tonic vial is found clutched in her hand, making Amber an immediate suspect. Owen has always thought something was odd about Amber, but now the rest of the town is looking at her very differently. Yes, they thought she was odd, but now they are believing that she is responsible for poisoning her own good friend. She has to find out who killed her friend and also work to clear her name, but without having her secret revealed to all!

The second book deals with Amber’s past and the fire that killed both of her parents some fourteen years before. She believes the fire was deliberately set by another witch, from a cursed clan who disappeared as soon as her parents died. Amber’s aunt Gretchen tries to get her to ignore her investigation and to stop looking for anyone to blame for events that happened so long ago. The old family house is finally being rebuilt and Amber wants to finally put her parent’s death behind her. The supposed sudden return of the Penhallow clan is unexpected and her aunt is hiding something. She knows more about what happened and about this clan than she is willing to reveal to Amber. All she tells Amber is that they are targeting her, and Amber is left to work out what the Penhallows are seeking, before the same force ends her own life.

The third book in the boxset sees Amber having to help look for a missing teen, Chloe, daughter of the town’s mayor. Chloe had just confided in Amber about an older boy she had started chatting to online and wanted to meet, but her father had forbidden her from dating anyone. Amber told her to tell her father about this boy, but next thing you know, Chloe has disappeared and Amber works with the police chief to look for her. She had been looking forward to a break before the annual Here and Meow Festival, but with someone she knows missing and Amber finding Chloe’s car deserted, with her purse left behind, means she is even more determined to find her. Amber uses her magic to figure out what happened to Chloe, but this brings about lots of secrets about the mayor’s own past. A suspicious death in his past and a bad temper doesn’t help. Questions start getting asked by others poking their noses into the search, including and out of town private investigator, a nosy reporter and the town population who are wondering why she is suddenly spending so much time with the married police chief!

A great set of three cozy mysteries, with a witch for the main character, who is trying to keep the fact she can do magic, a secret from those in the town. Unfortunately, a few are getting very suspicious of her actions and especially of her toys that she magically enhances for the local children. The usual interactions of a small town, the gossip that many like to spread, some really odd characters and memorable ones as well. Amber has gone from a relationship of suspicion from the police chief in her shop and with her toys, to now a good working relationship and even a friendship, which she now has to hide as the town gossips start up. The location and characters bring a quirky feel to the read and if you like cats, you will definitely want to read this series. Amber hides her true identity as a witch by pretending to be a psychic and has to deal with curses, missing teens, friends being poisoned and more. All of it adds up to enjoyable reads and fun stories. I had already bought the first book in this series and will now e looking out for more to read in this series. I received an ARC copy of this boxset from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of this boxset above.

A Witch of Edgehill Mystery Book Boxset — Melissa Erin Jackson [Audiobook voiced by Victoria Villarreal] Sept. 5-7, 2021

I listened to the box set and followed along with the individual books.

This is an absolutely delightful book set. Each story got better than the last. No sophomore slump with this author and this series. I thought the second one was the best, but I was sooo wrong!

I will give very short descriptions here and full reviews under each title.

1. Pawsitively Poisoned Sept. 5-6, 2021 Five stars
Amber is a witch in hiding. She has a special talent for making animated toys come to life, and being a bit of a recluse. All that changes when her friend Melanie dies shortly after being in her store, causing Amber to rise to the top of being number one suspect. It takes Ambers witchiness to solve the mystery.
2. Pawsitively Cursed Sept. 6, 2021 Five stars
Amber is supposed to see both Aunt Gretchen and sis Willow in her shop, but more surprised when the evil Penhallens are purported out to find her mother’s grimoire, going through her to get it. Cousin Edgar is also introduced to the story. And Amber dabs in love with a non-witch.
3. Pawsitively Secretive Sept. 7, 2021 Five stars
At the Here and Meow meeting with the Mayor, Amber learns that the mayor’s daughter Chloe is in love with an older boy who sends up red flags. Then, Chloe disappears. But not all is what it seems. Is the Mayor up to no good? And why are Jack and Connor, never really good friends, suddenly very chummy with each other?

This was a very entertaining book set. And in fact, I am not sure I have ever given a book set a full five stars. But this one nails it. I was certain that book three was going to fall, but the way Jack and Amber were acting around each other…and then, THEN…the ENDING!!! Bravo Ms. Jackson. And Bravo Ms. Villarreal, because honestly the voices made this book set stand out.

Five stars.

A witchy box set worth ready.

Book one.

Edgehill, Oregon has always been home to Amber Blackwood. She owns a magical toy store which is a huge hit of the cat themed town. She has always kept her magic a secret. For some reason the new sheriff in town seems to dislike her. That was not a problem until there is a murder and Erin needs to solve it.

This wonderful witchy cozy mystery is the first book in the Witch of Edgehill Series. It is full of quirky personalties, complete with strengths and foibles that makes them interesting and engaging. The storyline runs quickly and smoothly filled with twists and turns and several side stories. The mystery is complex, with a plethora of viable suspects, interesting subtle clues, surprises, danger and suspense. The narrative is well done and gives both a great description of the small town atmosphere and insight into the heroine’s thoughts, insecurities, emotions, motivations and actions. The book is overall really well done and the dialogue and character interaction is great. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

Book two

Another murder and Amber steps up to help solve it.

This is the exciting second book in the Edgehill Witch cozy mystery series. The quirky and unique characters add a lot to the well written storyline. The story engages you from the beginning to the conclusion. I really enjoyed the character interaction and the witty dialogue. The mystery is interesting, with a devious evil villain, lots of surprises and unexpected events. The action is great and the use of magic well incorporated into the storyline. I liked how the family comes together and the emotional drama included. I look forward to book three.

Book three

When the Mayor’s daughter disappears Amber tries to help find her. The balance of keeping her secret and helping to solve the kidnapping.

In the third book in the witchy cozy mystery series, Edgehill Witch series, the quirky town characters need to come together to find one of their own, the characters grow and develop ass the series continues. The narrative gives insight into Amber’s feelings, fears, motivations and actions. The storyline runs smoothly and quickly filled with the mystery, personal and small town drama. The mystery has lots of suspects, great clues, danger, action and suspense. The dialogue was interesting and witty. I enjoyed how her secret life was handled and the consequences of non witches knowing about magic. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

This is an enjoyable box set.

Amber, a witch lives in Edgehill, Oregon, where she owns and operates a store, The Quirky Whisker, where she makes animated magical toys for children, while trying to keep her magical powers a secret. Book 1: Pawsitively Poisonous...One of Amber's friends is found dead clutching a vial of medicine Amber had made for her headaches. She must solve the crime before she is charged with Melanie's murder. Book 2: Pawsitively Cursed: We find out more about Amber's parents deaths and the Penhallow witches. Aunt Gretchen who always told Amber to let their deaths go and move on, has returned to town, warning Amber that the Penhallow's are now after her. What do they want and why are they after Amber? Book 3: Pawsitively Secretive: The Mayor's daughter, Chloe has met a guy and confides in Amber, she advises her to talk to her dad before doing anything. Do young people ever listen to sound advise: Of course not, and Chloe has disappeared. Amber teams up with local police chief to hunt for Chloe. The shocking part of this book was the Chief asked Amber to use her witchy powers to help locate Chloe, this man in the first book was so suspicious of Amber because of her being different. With each book Amber is loosening up and trusting more people to the point that she is revealing that she is a witch to some. This is a great series, well worth reading.

Wonderful Cozy Paranormal Mystery Series

What a fun paranormal cozy mystery series! The stories are well written and engaging. I absolutely loved the first scene of the first book, where our heroine is showing her magical toys to children and their parents. The author is able to convey the heroine's witchy ways and the children’s wonder well. Because of her difficult past, no one is to know that she is a witch (and that these toys are powered by magic); she certainly has trust issues and plays everything very close to the vest. In an unusual move for paranormal cozy mysteries, there is actually a developmental arc for the heroine and the police chief over the course of the books. The heroine slowly opens up, becoming more trusting of certain people as time goes by while the police chief begins to see her as less of a threat and more of a help. I like to see character growth in a series, but it isn’t typical in mysteries. Not all the stories are straight-up murder mysteries, as is usually the case in cozies, though the first one certainly is. Each book has enough suspects, red herrings, and other twists and turns to keep them interesting. If you enjoy paranormal cozies as I do, you may enjoy this delightful series as much as I did.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

A fun, quirky set of the first three books in the four-book (so far) series! Amber is a witch trying to keep a low profile in the town of Edgehill, OR but that is difficult when one of her friends and a regular customer to her little shop is found dead clutching a vial for a tonic in her hand that she had purchased from Amber for a headache! Now Amber is a murder suspect and under the increased scrutiny of the new police chief who has had his suspicions about her and her wacky little shop ever since he arrived in town a few years earlier. Each book in the set features a different mystery while also slipping a growing romantic attraction between Amber and her nemesis police chief into the storyline. I liked the mysteries and I like the slow build-up for the romance between Amber and Chief Brown. A truly enjoyable series and I hope there will be many more books and mysteries to be solved in it!

Amber lost her parents at a young age to a fire at their house. Amber knows in her heart it is because of the Penhallow were to blame. Due to her past Amber has pretty much kept to herself. She is doesn't want any one to know her secret that she is a witch, she is still not over what her ex did to her. So Amber is pretty guarded in the beginning of the first book and you get to see herself open herself up over the next three in this set. She will let others in on her secret. She will also start helping the sheriff with his investigations, but it doesn't go unnoticed by some.

I really enjoyed all there books. Really enjoyed how the character is slowing opening up to others. Her loves of her family even when they push her. Loved the addition of Edgar, Willow and Her Aunt G. These books are a joy to read and recommend it.

This box set includes the first three books in the Witch of Edgehill paranormal cozy mystery series: PAWSITIVELY POISONOUS, PAWSITIVELY CURSED, and PAWSITIVELY SECRETIVE.

Each book revolves around a particular mystery where we find the Edgehill witch, Amber Blackwood, right in the midst of things! For the most part, she tries to keep the fact that she is a witch secret. But as she gets to know people and they know her, she somewhat relaxes and shares that information sparingly.

You will find great characters you will quickly know and love, paired with a fast-paced plot and a mystery to tackle, all of which will keep the reader avidly following along trying to figure out who did what and why! The books are well-written with lots of suspects to question! Join Amber in tracking down the guilty party and finding justice for the victims!

Edgehill is a small town in Oregon, and unknown to most of the population, it houses a few witches. One of them is Amber, who loves to use her magic to make animated toys. Her toy shop is a big success, but it also causes a little suspicion, as the toys have no visible batteries.
IN the first book, Amber is a suspect in a murder investigation, and needs to use her magic as well as her wits to proof her innocence and find the actual murder. In the other two stories she "just" sleuthes along,
The stories are quite entertaining, with typical eccentric small town characters, and a special relationship between Amber and the chief of police.

Fantastic box set!
Rule of thumb, always try to read a series in order. I read Pawsitively Swindled first but it did not slow the story down one bit. I had questions, of course, but book 4 in the series was amazing all on it's own. Having said that, this box set fills in all the unanswered questions. What an intense series of stories. This series is about good versus evil in the witch world. The heinous deeds done by very bad witches is no different than real life...evil is just terrible regardless of it's nature...real life or in stories. The author is awesome! She gives the details needed to create the world, the tools to build that world and pulls you into the story so well that the last thing you want to do is stop reading! I have found another favourite author! Excellent work!

Our heroine is a witch, but tries to keep that to herself. But she keeps getting involved in mysteries around town that need her special touch to solve.

This is a collection of the first three books of the series. Each of the stories is well written and easy to read, with intriguing mysteries to solve. The setting and characters are also well developed and provide a varied cast to keep things interesting. I really enjoy the interactions between the various characters and the little bits of humor sprinkled throughout the stories. Overall, a very entertaining collection.

Highly recommended,

These mysteries have Amber right in the middle of it all. She owns a store that is filled with curiosities, teas, toys and knick knacks. The locals love her shop but are wary of Amber. She’s got a secret and is fine until her friend is found dead holding one of her potions. This is the focus of the first story as she tries to find out who killed her friend and clear her name. In the following two stories she begins to let her secret out and helps the police chief solve some of the cases. I enjoyed these fun, entertaining stories. Best Binge Read Ever!
I had such a lovely weekend reading this set of 3 books. Each book picks up shortly after the last book ends. The stories are just great. There is a cozy mystery to figure out as well as some light romance and a very cold case. The magic and witches are quite fun. These are not your everyday paranormal cozy mysteries. I am not going to spoil anything for you, but I love this series. I do think a reader should read them in order to get the best enjoyment. I am off to read the ARC of book 4! I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.

Edgehill is town that is known for having cat themed festivals that attract tourists. Amber makes toys that seem to move by themselves which she sells in her shop, the Quirky Whisker. Years ago her parents were killed in a fire which Amber still feels is suspicious. Her aunt cared for her sister and her, but would not talk about it. This collection includes Amber’s first three adventures. I especially liked her character development from guarded introvert to caring friend.

Each story was full of secrets and cozy paranormal mystery. Written about Amber Blackwood, each story is progressive.

It has quirky characters, charming mystical shops, and had magical and supernatural elements didn't overshadow the mystery plot. Gave depth to the characters.

I am a huge fan of these box sets. I love that I can easily just move right on to the next in the series without even noticing hardly that I am onto a new book. Since I highly recommend you read all of the books in the series this is a great way to do that. Well written characters, a fun mystery with a bit of paranormal. Just a fun read that keeps you turning the pages and when you finish this first three you will for sure want to pick up book four and keep going.

I love this series. The mysteries are cute and the characters are fantastic. And I never really know what the “who-done-it” twist will be until the author wants me to. My favorite thing though, is the narration. Victoria does a fantastic job of keeping all the voices of the many characters separate and distinct. I’m really impressed by her. She really brings the stories to life.

I got this one on a lark. The first book was a bit slow in the beginning (as most new series are). But after that, I could not put it down. Bought the 3 book set at a reduced price, but went out and bought book 4 without having a bargain. If you like cats and witches, this is the series for you.

I loved the characters, the way their stories are told, and I laughed and cried along with them. I can’t wait to find out more.
