Jordan Vezina is a writer of historical fiction living in Palo Alto California. In a past life Jordan was an infantry Marine serving in an anti/ counter-terror unit, a bodyguard, and a personal trainer. And a website designer. And a combatives teacher. And a corporate manager. And a singer and guitar player in a blues-metal band. And then an IT guy. And then blah blah blah I'm so cool. That's right. It's me writing this.
The Bonafide series just seems to continually amp up in action and intrigue. Within the pages of this book, we have a rescue from a corrupt mental hospital, a plot to assassinate a head of state, and a threat to release a deadly pathogen. That's not even beginning to discuss the interpersonal dynamics and mental health issues, which are impeccably described. If you like 80s political thrillers/action stories/espionage tales, this is the book for you.
One thing to note - you definitely need to read the first two Bonafide books to have the full picture, and will definitely be eagerly awaiting the eventual fourth entry into the series... I know I am.
ARC given by author in exchange for my honest review.
Jack Bonafide is a true badass, and he proves it several times in this book. After escaping from a criminally crooked asylum, Jack is drawn into a plot to kill the President of the United States, or so it seems. There are so many sub-plots going on here that it is hard to tell what it actually going on, not to mention to differentiate the good guys from the bad guys. In some cases they are both. I love the character development in this series. They are complex and multi-faceted. All are flawed in some manner and those flaws are often exploited. It is easy to forget the intrigue that was the Cold War. Vezina has an excellent handle on the period and allows us to relive it, for better or worse. This is a great series if you like thrillers.
I absolutely loved this book! A brilliant, fast paced thriller, that,as with everything that I have read or listened to by, Jordan Vezina, grabbed my attention straight off the bat. Action scenes are great! The tension is ramped up,as you race along with the characters, to an explosive conclusion, including, one exciting surprise, meaning,I can't wait for the next book! I highly recommend reading the first two books, The Black Tsar and, High Tension, before reading this book,as they follow on from each other.
Jack Bona fide is an extremely talented Man in his field of expertise. Black ops. Ex Delta. Someone are intelligence services can count on. Numerous plots are occurring at once in this excellent read. Important well placed peop!e are not who they appear to be. Numerous strikes will occur, some of the individuals actually work for a misguided and secretive group in the CIA. Assassination, anthrax. Jack's plate is full. Non stop action, suspense, intrigue. This novel has it all!! My highest recommendation.
I've read the entire series of these books and Breakdown does not disappoint! The action, the urgency, the characters and the mission are utmost in this story of espionage and betrayal. Lives and fortunes have been lost to the evil that is tyranny and betrayal. Is there a uplifting end to all this? Of course there is and the Bonafides and the (mostly) white hats will prevail. But I'm looking forward to the next installation of how the good ole U S of A kicks some Commie ass! Keep it coming, Jordan!
Another of the Bonifide brothers tales where we find Mac has come back from the dead & Jack is being held in an asylum that is a cover for CIA wet work, Jack is forced to kill others whilst the head of the asylum tries to brainwash him. Carrie & Clark team up to free him with his brother Mark. Assassinations,Nazi gold, Russian sleepers this story has everything, another winner From the pen of Jordan Vesna, keep up the good work

I hadn't read the precious two Jack Bonafide books but that wasn't a problem (I will, however, go back and read them now). The action in this book is explosive, character development is solid and the storyline twists through spy counter spy espionage. A well worked novel that grips from the very first sentence. Absolutely unputdownable, I read this through in one sitting.
Yet again the world is in need of Jack Bonafide to take on the bad guys and try to save them from Armageddon caused by totally ruthless people with only one thing on their minds to kill as many people as possible. But the bad guys did not consider what would happen when Jack got involved in their lives and how much pain he would cause them.
This series of 3 books will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last page of the last book and you will still be thirsting for more.
