Several years ago, I won an authors contest and she graced me with an autographed book. I never dreamed that, that one book would grace my life and joy of reading. Now, many, many books later, I’m still in Awe of her beautiful writing style.

Shanna Hatfield just keeps delivering romantic books, which sweep me away. She has a talent of bringing love, laughter, and romance together, as no one else can deliver.
Jossy and Nate were a perfect opposite’s attract couple.

I love how Shanna Hatfield books can transport me to quaint little small towns full of fun, loving, caring people. Such is the town of Summer Creek. If Summer Creek were a real place, I would throw my stuff in a brown paper sack, not worrying with a suitcase and get there as quickly as I could. Rescuing the Rancher Book 2 in this series made me even more homesick for the town of Summer Creek. When a book can physically make you want to go to a town and be with the characters from the story, well ...more

Shanna Hatfield has written yet another excellent feel good, sweet romance novel! Rescuing the Rancher lets us return to the remote ranches in Oregon to catch up with the Cole family and their small community. This book supports the old saying, "opposites attract", because Widow, rancher, hardworking, fiercely independent, stubborn Jossy Cole Jansen couldn't be more the opposite of the city slicker Corporate Lawyer, Nathaniel Knight. Nate as Jossy calls him, much to his chagrin. Nate is tricked ...more

With a combination of mystery and romance, Rescuing the Rancher is a sweet and heartwarming story of second chances.

Reading of Jossy's previous marriage was so heartbreaking. Her husband had been nothing short of awful. While Jossy's resilience was quite admirable - many wounds were yet to heal.

I couldn't help but love Nate. He was so persistent and still kind in his pursuit of Jossy.

A mystery surrounding the challenge to Jossy's ownership of the ranch and some missing items added an

I so enjoyed this story. Jossy is so strong and tough, but she is such a marshmallow. She thinks Nate is just a city dude, but there is so much more to him. Nate can't figure out why Jossy took such a dislike to him, but he isn't going to stick around, so why does it matter? Jossy has had so many disappointments, she isn't going to let any man dictate to her ever again. Nate is different, but she can't open herself up like that again. I just love the vows at the wedding. Loved the story. ...more

Jossy Jansen owns the Lazy J Ranch, just across the road from her brother, Hudson. Marrying at a young age to get her own land turned out to be a big mistake and, since the death of her husband two years ago, Jossy has refused to accept help from anyone and especially the attention of another man.

Nathaniel Knight, a childhood friend of Hudson's fiancée, Emery, is an attorney in his father's law office in Portland. Having spent all his time working since earning his degree, Nathaniel needs a vaca

Rescuing the Rancher by Shanna Hatfield is a beautiful tale with fabulous characters, a beautiful setting, some mischief, and lots of romance. It is such a lovely touching story.
Will Jossy lose the ranch and her heart? Or will Nate save them both?

Jossy is our female lead. She owns the Lazy J Ranch across the lane from Summer Creek Ranch. Jossy always wanted a ranch that she could run the way she wants with horse training just as important as cattle. Emery calls her

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the previous one in this series, "Catching The Cowboy". As with that book, this one is needlessly wordy. There are too many pages devoted to describing every little thing. The rambling thoughts inside the characters heads go on for pages. I felt like I never got to really know Nate or Jossy because so much time was spent inside their heads, they spent more time alone and thinking than together.

I never warmed up to Jossy. She was great

Hot shot Portland attorney Nathaniel Knight doesn’t have a chance as practically everyone in his own family, plus the good citizens of Summer Creek, are surreptitiously match-making him to a certain female rancher who is his total opposite! Nate has been dispatched from Portland to the sleepy boondock town of Summer Creek to help with the legalities of establishing historical landmarks. This is the second installment in author Shanna Hatfield’s superb new Summer Creek trilogy. As in the first bo ...more

Once again, Shanna Hatfield has given her readers a return ticket to the town of Summer Creek. In Rescuing the Rancher, she weaves a story of hope, love and redemption.
From the very start, everything about Nathaniel Knight from his polished manners to his expensive city clothes to his inviting lips annoys Jossy Jansen. Experiencing heartache and guilt early in life, she is content to keep to herself and make a go of her ranch, The Lazy J. After meeting the stuffy city slicker, she stiffens her r

This story is one of loneliness and a scarred heart full of bad memories, but also of a great love from a city boy. A woman rancher all on her own and a city slicker who is a friend of her sister in law to be, who invades her life, and she isn’t happy at all about it.
A mystery on her ranch that scares her and wonders who is doing this to her. And so much more. This is one of such heartache and laughter and fun and great characters that is it a book you should not miss. Of course, a great HEA and

Great addition to the Summer Creek Series! You will love this clean, inspirational, contemporary romance. Josey had a disastrous first marriage and doesn’t plan to make a mistake again—especially with a city slicker lawyer. But she and Nathaniel don’t have a chance when parents, aunts and uncles and a grandmother decide their children are meant to spend their lives together. You will love the crafty, sneaky, old people having such fun setting people up. Throw in a lovable little girl with a grea ...more

I enjoyed this clean romance with a touch of mystery; Jossy has sworn off men after an abusive marriage until "Nate" shows up. Nathaniel doesn't like the name "Nate" that Jossy keeps calling him, he's Jossy's sister-in-law's friend and lawyer helping her with her non-profit organization, but the room heats up when "Nate" and Jossy are in the same room together. Nell, the Brighton brothers and "Nate's" parents are all conspiring to get them together. Will it work? Meanwhile someone is trying to t ...more

Jossy is a tough cowgirl taking care of her ranch by herself and Nathaniel is a city slicker wealthy attorney who dares to kiss her. His parents and her grandmother play matchmaker thinking they are perfect for each other. I laughed reading about the crazy things he experienced and all the clothes he ruined. I teared up and couldn't believe how strong Jossy was after all the physical and emotional suffering she had gone through. There is a mystery in the book of who is hiding out at her ranch an ...more

Shanna Hatfield always writes page turning stories that inspire and this book does not disappoint!
Book 2 of the Summer Creek series is all about rancher Jossy and townie lawyer Nathaniel. They don't really hit it off the first time they meet but with a little bit of help from meddling relatives sees them having to spend more time together and the sparks flying turn positive.
I loved the humor, fun and the meddling along the way. I can definitely recommend this book.

Does Jossy really need rescuing? Especially by a namby-pamby high-class lawyer who shows no sign of ever doing any manual labor? Everybody around them thinks he can do the trick. Is Jossy open to it? She’s pretty feisty and set in her ways because of her past relationship. Not a good one and it closed her heart!
Is she being stalked by an illegitimate son of her late husband and also by her best friend? Lots of stuff going on in this one. Well-worth the read!

Where sass is an artform

I trust Shanna Hatfield to deliver great food descriptions, authentic western settings and fiery females. The classic country gal and city guy got a terrific storyline with enough drama, humor and toe curling kisses to satisfy any fan of contemporary romantic fiction.

Rescuing The Rancher (Summer Creek Book 2)

I enjoyed this sweet book written by one of my favorite authors. Good storyline, pulls you in from the first page. Stuffed full with wonderful characters I loved and cared about, along with a sweet romance, humor and a bit of suspense, kept me reading. Ethel the goat added humor with her funny little ways. Two for two

I thought the first book in this series was good, but this one was even better. The story held my attention from the very beginning and I read it in one sitting. The one part where Nate bought the lilies was so real I felt his pain and Jossy’s too. Can hardly wait for Parker’s story.

The second book in the Summer Creek series and I enjoyed it more than the first. It was enjoyable to get to know more about Jossy and her past in this book. I enjoyed figuring out why her life was the way it was and seeing more of the relationships in this small town. Enjoyable people in an enjoyable place.

The characters are so well done... not at all stereotypical. They are complex with realistic strengths and flaws.
I love that the couple falls in love against their will––that's one of my favorite tropes.
The story is full of surprises and a rollercoaster of emotions.

Loved this opposites attract romance with widowed rancher Jossy and city lawyer Nate. They meet when he comes to visit a friend and he meets the strong independant Jossy who works her own ranch without help. They are a wonderful couple and this just shows that love knows no bounds.
