The last cryo vessel from fallen Earth has arrived in humanity’s farthest colonized star system. What the refugees weren’t counting on was over a quarter of their people—including the entire leadership—perishing in transit.
It falls to Isadora Satoro, a mere city councilor, to negotiate the terms of her people’s settlement in the Natonus System. A good read for the person, who reads for emotional escape.
The book was a good escape, while on the elliptical exercise machine. It holds your attention.
My biggest reservation involves the idealistic view presented of government. There are reasons why individuals, who by their choice install leaders, limit the scope of their duties. The refugee leaders were characters chosen by a computer with unlimited authority.
The refugees were rescued by an idealistic inexperienced bureaucrat, who was the only one in leadership to discover the secret; the emperor had no clothes.

I fell in love this book!
The characters are what did it for me. Levin does a great job of presenting different viewpoints about the same events, and making all of them seem believable and relatable.
The world is frighteningly familiar, with xenophobia, the dangers of miscommunication, and a dozen other issues that were dealing with now will likely far into the future.
I can't wait to read the next one!

Fast moving story
From the moment I started reading this book it was hard to put down. Even when I finally did I couldn’t wait to pick it up and start reading again. Character development was awesome! I recommend this book!

Interesting
I had a hard time starting this story. However, after a couple chapters, I was able to start understanding the characters and their interactions. Very interesting story, I will enjoy the next one.

Conflicts resolved. At least three sides to every situation and nothing simple. Kindle book obtained for free from Amazon.
