Taron, the SAA of the RBMC in Nola, was a broken man who was devoid of love or hope. Dyanara, a Bloody Scorpions princess, sister to the VP, whose captors were sworn enemies of the RBMC. Her life was not her own. A terrified girl who was locked away and took chances that she wasn't ready to pay for. Together they didn't make much sense. They were on opposite sides of a war and they barely knew each other but she soothed his tortured soul and he made her feel safe for the first time in forever.
With graphic scenes of violence and a torrent of daddy kink, Crimson Syn delivered a book with powerful scenes. Taron and Dyanara's road to love wasn't easy. Through torturous plans to get out from under the depravity of her brother's club, I was led down a dark and deadly road. It wasn't pretty but it was definitely exciting and I can guarantee you'll be entertained.
A really good addition to the Royal Bastards MC. There were a good bit of errors that messed with the flow so I had to take a point off for that.
This one made me think of a princess locked up in her tower waiting on her dark knight to come rescue her. This princess is part of the rival MC and they are a dirty nasty bunch. Dyanara is the younger sister of the VP of the rival club and he is the one who keeps her locked up. Matter of fact that is something I never found out was why... anyways, she has a way of getting out once in a while and when she does she gets into some trouble and who comes to her rescue.
Knuckles has a haunted soul. Ex special forces. He is part of the MC and has his own garage where he does custom work. Out on a run he finds Dyanara in an accident and helps her out. Only problem is once he finds out she is the enemy what are they going to do to her.
This is another book in the RBMC shared world series.
I like Taron/Knuckles. I think that he has a good heart, if somewhat misguided at times. I think that he gets trapped in himself and in his past, but when he breaks free from that, he's good to go.
I'm not sure about Dyanara. I don't think that she's TSTL, but I don't understand some of her choices. I mean, I would've left and stayed gone as soon as possible. It just confused me why she made those choices.
Knuckles is a man who lives wanting to die, plagued by nightmares from his past until he meets Dyanara Reyes, the princess of the Bloody Scorpions, who lives her own particular hell, locked up by her brother and dying a little more every day. After the first meeting, neither can’t stop thinking about the other and Dyanara manages to escape to meet Knuckles. But in one of her escapades she is discovered, and the punishment she will receive is by a hand of a man worse than her brother. Knuckles knows that he has to get her out of there or she will die, but doing so he will put his life in danger, not only bc of the Bloody Scorpions but also bc of the RB. This is certainly not a fairy tale, nor does it have a essay HEA since sacrifices will have to be made to get to it. I’m dying to read Scorn’s book, the pity is that I have to wait so long.😩
She took my nightmares away in just one look. Her eyes brought me back. I’d never experienced that stillness before, that sense of calm. She was safe to me. I barely knew her, yet I felt...safe with her. The thought was foreign to me. How could a woman ever make me feel safe? just met the girl. But as much as I wanted to brush that thought aside and continue on with my morbid existence, I couldn’t. Because deep down inside I knew, she was meant for me.
“I’m gonna steal you away. I hope you know that.” “What you need to do is forget about me.” “That’s impossible. I don’t forget about the things I want. And I have all the patience in the world. What I don’t have is time. I will get you out of there.”
“Run and don’t come back here again.” “Don’t say that!” “Don’t be so fucking naive, little girl.” “Don’t tell me what to do.” “No? How about this? The next time you appear before me you best believe I will not let you go before I get what I want from you.” He snarled at me, but for some reason I didn’t quiver at his threat. Instead, I ran my fingers along his beard cladded chin and pressed my lips softly to his. “I will be back. And next time you will tell me your name.” “Never.” “Oh, you will. Because I need something to scream as you do what you want with me.” His eyes met mine and the thrill of our next meeting hung in the air. “Taron.”
“You’re putting yourself in danger just being here, and I don’t give a shit because all I want to do is keep you. Doesn’t that tell you something? I’m a selfish bastard that has nothing, Dyanara. I am nothing. There’s nothing here you would want.” I turned to him slowly, fighting to let the words out. “You’re everything.” “I’m a self-destructive asshole. I will destroy you.”I reached up and slid my hand along his broad chest, right over his heart. “You mean everything to me.” “You just met me.” I closed the distance between us and looked up at him. “Everything,” I breathed. “I’ll destroy you.” I couldn’t deny the fact that he scared me, but not in the sense that you would think. Taron Brown scared me because I knew he could destroy me. He was the only one who was offering me freedom yet binding me to him at the same time. And I was sure I wouldn’t survive if he ever let me go. “I know,” I breathed, my hands clenching at his shirt, afraid to let him go. He pulled back and stared at me, and there was an intensity in his blue gaze I’d never seen before. “I want to keep you,” his hands cradled my face so tenderly, but his growl came out like a sexy threat sending tendrils of heat to coil along my core. “Do you understand what I’m saying to you?” I swallowed nervously and nodded. “I understand.” “Do you have nothing to say to me?”“I need you,” I whimpered as he suddenly yanked me toward him, his lips crashing against mine. I kissed him back with fervor, accepting his brutal lashing. Our lips smashing together in a desperate attempt to cause hurt. Our pleasure was coated in pain and I relished in it because I knew that when he was done with me, I’d have his mark on me. Take what you want. Destroy me if you have to. Either way I'm nothing without you.
3.5 stars--SCARRED BY PAIN is the second full-length instalment in Crimson Syn’s contemporary, adult ROYAL BASTARDS MC: New Orleans LA erotic, MC series focusing on the members of the Royal Bastards MC. This is Sargent at Arms Taron ‘Knuckles’ Brown, and Dyanara Reyes’ story line. SCARRED BY PAIN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.
WARNING: SCARRED BY PAIN contains scenes of graphic violence, sexual assault, and physical abuse that may not be suitable for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Taron and Dyanara) SCARRED BY PAIN follows in the aftermath of an accident wherein an injured Dyanara Reyes finds herself in the hands of the Royal Bastards MC but all is not well in Dyanara’s life as she is an ‘escaped’ prisoner of her brother Tadeo Reyes and the Bloody Scorpions MC. To prevent the death and torture of a fellow member of the Blood Scorpions MC, Dyanara begs to be set free of the Royal Bastards but her returns to the her brother’s prison comes with the consequences of a woman who has been imprisoned for most of her life. Desperate to free the woman that now calls to his heart, Taron aka Knuckles Brown sets into motion a plan to rescue Dyanara, provoking a war between the two MCs for years to come. What ensues is the quick building and sexual relationship between Dyanara and Taron, and the fall-out as war comes to the Bloody Bastards front door, forcing Taron to make a decision that will affect the rest of his life.
Taron ‘Knuckles’ Brown is a former special forces soldier, underground fighter and the Sargent at Arms for the Royal Bastards MC but Taron has yet to find his place and settle down, and with it comes the memories and PTSD of a time he lost everything and everyone he loved. Finding and rescuing Dyanara Reyes gave Talon a purpose in life but Dyanara’s rescue comes with severe consequences, and the possibility of Taron losing his membership with the Royal Bastards MC. With the MC’s focus now on the illegal gun trade, Taron must chose between his brothers and the woman he loves. Dyanara Reyes has never known freedom having been the prisoner of her brother for most of her life but several opportunities have presented themselves for her eventual escape, opportunities of which she has refused to take advantage.
The relationship between Taron and Dayanara is highly sexual, erotic, intense and not without some issues of questionable consent. Taron battles between head and heart knowing his rescue of, and relationship with Dayanara has placed his fellow Royal Bastards MC members in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are raw and dramatic; Taron demands Dayanara call him daddy in the bedroom; and is quick to spank our heroine in anger, and love but in this I did not feel the desire or sexual tension but only a need to demand and take. There is no romance only physical pleasure.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including MC president Jameson, and club members Riddick, Styx, Colt, Bullet and Tick Tock. The requisite evil has many faces including Dyanara’s brother Tadeo Reyes, and the Cesar Dominguez.
SCARRED BY PAIN is a dark and gritty story of family and relationships; power and control; abuse, torture, payback and pain. The premise is edgy; the characters are animated and tragic.
Dark and gritty read. The prologue gives you all the back information on Taron aka Knuckles and the daily struggle he faces with his PTSD. He finds and saves Dyanara after her truck crashes into a tree. She’s held as a prisoner by her brother, who is the head of a rival gang of Taron’s. Since she was out when she wasn’t supposed to be, she is desperately trying to get back. Yeah, no idea why either. If you are safe somewhere, stay there, but she doesn’t. There was lots of pushing, and back and forth with these two from their very first meeting. And this lasted throughout most of the book, a little exhausting.
As I said, this was a darker read, may have some triggers for some, while others will love it. Quite a bit of suspense and drama. 2 shattered souls, albeit in different ways, but both shattered none the less. 1 daddy and his virgin baby girl. Loved getting to see Voodoo’s grandma. Psst, he’s from another book in this world. Epilogues and an hea.
This is the second book in the Royal Bastards MC series and I loved it! This story was so riveting and it was one I couldn't put down. Knuckles and Dyanara were so freaking perfect for each other. This book is dark, gritty, and filled with action, pain, and brotherhood. It has a great storyline and characters to keep you hooked at every turn. This is one book you won't want to miss, it’s a definite must read.
Let me first say I love a good dark and gritty romance. Dyanara was kept as a prisoner by her brother. She occasionally escapes but goes back, not once or twice but multiple times. Even after she meets Knuckles and he claims her, she still goes back to being held prisoner. I wanted to slap the stupid out of her. While well written the h drive me crazy. Knuckles also requires her to call him Daddy which is a big ick factor for me although I know most aren’t bothered by it.
This was a heart wrenching story filled with pain and heartache. Knuckles and Dayanara are from 2 rival MCs but they just can’t stay away from each other, what could possibly go wrong? It’s like a modern day Romeo and Juliette with biker boots. Can they get their HEA or will forces stand in their way?
I love the Royal Bastards MC series . Every individual Author brings something to the table, and you know when you have Chinese food and your full but then two or three hours later your hungry again and want some of that left over Chinese food ? Well that is what the Royal Bastards MC series does for me I can't get enough of it. ! . And this book by Crimson Syn was no exception. Loved it.
I don't always read books in one sitting, but when I do, you know it's out of this world. This book had me hooked from the very first page. Knuckles and Dyanara have me Romeo and Juliet vibes without the horrible ending. I can't wait to see what's next.
This wonderful story reminded me of Romeo and Juliet, except it is The Bloody Scorpions and the Royal Bastards MC. Knuckles has demons but when he meet the beautiful Dyanara he feels the strong pull to be with her and protect her. Scarred by Pain included the delicious MC and the fate of this couple, with a Voodoo priestess and tarot cards all woven into this book.
Crimson has once again given us an outstanding MC read involving the New Orleans chapter of the Royal Bastards MC. Her style is as impressive as ever as she combines action, personal struggles, heartbreak and brotherhood in an amazing storyline. Kudos Ms. Syn for a job very well done.
Scarred by Pain involves the chapters SA, Knuckles. He struggles with inner demons as everyone he cares about seems to leave or die including his Special Forces team and various MC brothers. Struggling with night terrors he closes himself off from everyone except Jamieson, the chapters Prez. That is until he runs across an auto accident and finds a beautiful woman (Dyanara) trapped in her truck. He takes her home to care for injuries not realizing she’s the club princess to a rival MC. A rival club that is notorious for its cruelty. Something Dyanara knows about and has suffered first hand. Their paths have crossed by accident or or have the? After all this is New Orleans and Voodoo country.
There are many reasons I could recommend this book but I don’t want to spoil it. I’ll simply say grab this one up ASAP, you won’t regret it.
Knuckles & Dyanara: triggers- sexual assault, family discord, domestic abuse, gun violence, Daddy kink, BDSM, PTSD. umm 🤔🤔🤔 I feel like this book drained brain cells cause WTAF was that? it took me a week.. a WEEK!!!, to finish this book and it's only 218 pages. I can blow through a book that short in a couple of hours if I don't get distracted. several times I wanted to DNF this... because WHY? WHY was this so irritating? I didn't mind how dark it was because honestly I've read a lot darker. the trigger warnings didn't phase me. I found Dyanara to be extremely annoying and immature which is understandable in some ways but considering everything she's been through you'd think there would be some level of maturity there. so she did all that to protect her virginity but then when she finally gives it up, it's not discussed, or mentioned or anything not even the "soreness" or "blood" did we forget she was a virgin and that whole scene was very, 🤔 I guess rough for a first time for there not to be any evidence. 🤷🏾♀️. I found there's a lot of inconsistencies like that in the book. the constantly going back to the house after finding her freedom was wild because WTF? you're a literal prisoner and you're going back.. for why? as far as the "romance" I didn't feel a connection whatsoever. knuckles and Dyanara didn't really have a conversation that was deeper that a puddle made by a raindrop. all they did was have sex. this was basically erotica. an MC porn story. does it check with the rest of the series. of course it does, this is Crimson Syn the Creator of the series... and there are a lot of books in the series that just go down the rabbit hole with no flashlight and no light at the end of the tunnel. you just gotta ride with it and and hope another author will connect and pull you back into the light. this series is definitely a ride. I don't know why I decided to start this series from the very beginning... feck sake! 🤣🤦🏾♀️.
I love Crimson Syn, I do... but this ain't it boo boo!
BTW... as a beta reader myself, do you ever wonder if betas rate ARC's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ because they were given a free copy and they're just happy to be a part of the beta world? I'm just curious... I don't. if I didn't like it, you'll definitely know. 🤣js.
Taron "Knuckles" Brown is a Sergeant at Arms for the Royal Bastards MC. He suffers from PTSD from his time in the military and tends to be known as a loner even within in the club.
Dyanara Reyes is a princess within the the Bloody Scorpions. Her brother Tadeo is next in line for President of the club but that doesn't grant her any freedom and she uses her ability to get off Diego Salazar for any moments of freedom she can get.
When Dyanara is in a car accident and saved by Knuckles he knows that he needs to find out more about her and protect her from what she fears. But with the two clubs waring can Knuckles protect Dyanara when the unspeakable happens within the Bloody Scorpions?
This is another great book in the series and I am really enjoying getting to know all of the members of the MC.
I really liked Knuckles as he was dealing with his own issues and hadn't felt that getting involved with anyone was right for him until he sees Dyanara. Yet Dyanara was a whole heap of trouble for him but no matter what he couldn't keep away for him even though it put his whole club in danger.
I thought Dyanara was a woman doing what she needed to in order to survive, using any means necessary. I felt bad for her that she was kept a prisoner and for the way she was treated. I liked her friendship with Madame Laveaux and what she told Knuckles as I think her words really made a difference.
The club stuff in this book was interesting with the Royal Bastards having trouble with their shipments and then how Knuckles idea began to come into play. I felt terrible for Knuckles when Jameson gives Dyanara a chance at a new start but I understood the dear that Dyanara still had.
Thins got super tense towards the end and I hate the Bloody Scorpions so much for what they did. I was grateful that the good guys were able to get in there when they did and I really did understand why Jameson did what he did. I was very happy at the end at Jameson's other decision and I can't wait to see where that leads!
This book is part of the Royal Bastards MC collection. This is the second book for this chapter of the Royal Bastards. This book focuses on Knuckles. He lives everyday haunted by the things he went through during his last tour. He doesn’t believe that he deserves anything because he couldn’t save his fellow team members. Dyanara Reyes has been trapped her whole life. Her brother has plans for her. Her mother left and he will use her to get back their mother for leaving. Knuckles and Dyanara meet by accident. Dyanara manages to sneak out and gets in an accident. This starts an interesting relationship between the two. I will admit that at one point I wanted to jump in the book and shake Dyanara. She kept going back to the captivity her brother kept her in. She had her reasons but for me it didn’t make sense. If I managed to escape something like that and someone offered a life line I wouldn’t think twice about going back. I would stay. This story takes lots of twists and turns. Knuckles grows and changes so much in this book. Dyanara shows him that he is more than his past. That he is a good man. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book in the series. Great job Crimson.
Taron 'Knuckles' Brown, Sergeant at Arms of the Royal Bastards MC, New Orleans chapter. He was in the Special Forces and still suffers from PTSD.
Dyanara Reyes has been kept hostage by her brother and his MC since her father disappeared. She's been able to sneak out for a rare night of freedom by giving blowjobs to her guard until one night things don't go as planned.
Neither of these two have pretty lives, when he finds her hurt on the side of the road, I loved these two for each other. I really like how things started but then it turned really weird for me and chaotic and believability started dropping to zero. Add on the increasing editing problems and I fell out of love with this story.
Great beginnings, good MC drama, but started to feel more like erotic fantasy, than a real story. Content warning: This story contains graphic violence and abuse, as well as BDSM and other erotic play that may be difficult for sensitive readers.
I received an ARC copy and am voluntarily leaving a review. That said I expect any editing issues will be resolved before publishing. If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog. https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/

Amount of Sex - 3 / 5 How Explicit are the Sex Scenes – 3.5 / 5 Story - 4 / 5 OVERALL - 4 / 5
Scarred by Pain is the second book in the Royal Bastards MC: New Orleans Chapter, which is written by author Crimson Syn. Each book in this series tells the story of a different couple. Even though this is true, I do recommend reading the first book in the series, Inked in Vengeance, before beginning this one.
Scarred by Pain tells the story of Taron “Knuckles” Brown and Dyanara Reyes. Taron has dealt with pain for most of his life, and it still haunts him today. He’s been in a dark place until he comes across a beautiful woman hurt in an accident. When Taron helps Dyanara, he doesn’t realize that she’s the Bloody Scorpians MC princess until it’s too late.
Getting involved with someone from a rival club is strictly prohibited, although Taron feels a strong desire to claim and protect Dyanara. Can fate keep them together when there are so many people against their love?
Scarred by Pain! Is hard to put down but there were a few times I had to take a deep breath to keep going. Taron “Knuckles” Brown has nightmares that never end. His life has been one nightmare after another. He is led a hard and rough life, alone. But when he is fated to be a knight in a Royal Bastards cut to a damsel in distress, he knows he is in trouble. Dyanara Reyes lives a life with no hope much less dreams. She is the little sister of the Bloody Scorpions President and is untouchable but not for the reason you might think.
These two will have to fight for their freedoms but they might lose their lives in the process. This couple deserve each other and their happiness but sometimes you must wonder if love is enough. I love this story so much!
Knuckles & The MC Princess = An Intense & Engaging Story
Scarred By Pain is an outstanding story. This story centers around Taron “Knuckles” from the Royal Bastards MC and Dyanara “Princess” to the Bloody Scorpions MC. They have a forbidden love since they are with rival mc clubs and are not meant to be together. Dyanara has been locked away her entire life. One day she sneaks out and has an accident. Knuckles comes to her rescue. He wants to be her knight and save her. Scarred By Pain has lots of drama, action, danger, steamy heat, love, and dark romance. It is well written with unique characters. Scarred By Pain is dark and gritty and will take you on a wild ride. Get ready for an intense and engaging story.
I read this via my ku subscription and am leaving my review voluntarily. It is part of the multi author Royal Bastards MC series.
Triggers: murder, violence, PTSD, sexual assault, kidnapping
Spoilers: Taron aka Knuckles. PTSD. has a tragic past that has left him unwilling to connect with others.
Dyanara, trapped at her criminal brothers home. She is forced to perform sexual acts in exchange for a few hours of freedom.
Knuckles finds Dyanara injured from a car accident. He helps her but she refuses to tell him her secrets. She leaves but they both were attracted and intrigued with each other.
Chemistry seems believable. Action. Violence. Eventually they seem to get a HEA by starting over in another city with another MC.
Same rating as Book 1. Don't let the bad copy editing stop you from the other Royal Bastards. There is a lot of good reading out there. This, Book 2 did not improve from the first one. Overall, I would say, even the action was not exciting. The bad guys were unimpressive and the MFC needed to find her backbone. Why anyone would live in those conditions when it was clear she could get out of them by not returning is beyond me. And, Knuckles owed Jameson for getting him out of the slammer and was suppose to be so loyal, but he didn't tell his own pres he was seeing, sorta, the sister of a rival MC. It was all handles way to casual. I didn't like any of the characters and doubt if I will finish the series.
This book was an emotional read, bad and good. Characters are not supposed to be together because of who they're affiliated with, but fate had other plans. They fought what they feel for each other, but the heart wants what it wants. Both characters are hurting because of their past, they're just living day to day without really living but their chemistry, hearts won't let them give up. This was truly an amazing read, although the characters are different but they all have one thing in common, and that's loyalty, and the Royal Bastards have it in spade. Thank You Author Crimson Syn for another great installment, I can't wait to see what you have planned for the next book.
What a fantastic addition to the Royal Bastards MC series!! And the New Orleans chapter! This book is 0-60 from the off. My heart went out to Taron, who is battling more than just the demons in his head. When he comes across Dyanara unconscious near the bayou, he feels immediately drawn to her. . She calms the storm within him and he is like a balm on her soul. My heart! But there is so much going on, she has links to a rival mc, but neither want to give the other up. Something has to give but Taron wants to protect her and keep her safe. This is full on and I could not put this down!
I am new to this author but I’m a huge fan of the Royal Bastards MC series so when I seen she was a author of one of the books I signed up and because honestly I’ve heard her writing is gritty and raw and steamy and she did not disappoint! It was all those things and more ! This story was dark gritty raw and steamy filled with pain and action . The brotherhood is one of the things I love most about a MC romance and this book has that in spades . This is another definite must read of this series and I can’t wait for more!
** I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book **
Gosh Dyanara and Knuckles story really is such a good one. A knight in shinning armour the cards said he was. But knuckles knew he really wasnt he still had bad dreams that haunted him at night. However when he met Dyanara she was special. She couldnt keep away, snuck out when she could but was soon found out by the new president of the scorpians and now she was in danger. Knuckles saves her but at the Peril of his club can she choose between saving the club and hurting knuckles by going somewhere safe?
I so enjoyed reading this story, i love MC books and this is right up my alley,
