Professor Nathaniel Hunt has spent the last decade being a single dad … and not having sex.

So when he discovers Gracelyn has a peculiar outdoor stripping ritual, a million inappropriate thoughts fill his responsible mind.

Listen, something might very well be broken inside of me because I'm side-eyeing these glowing reviews, wondering if we read the same book.

This was one of the dullest romance books I've ever read with a lot of telling instead of showing and, tbh, the only redeeming factors were Morgan and Gabe.

It was irritating, this forced love between Nate and Gracelyn, likewise the connection they supposedly had. It was not only weird but it also felt like a case of proximity instead of fortuity. I mean, Jewel said they fell in love so I guess it must be true; although, I didn't see it. How and when did it happen? Le sigh

Fortuity is probably my least favourite book by this author and that's low considering how thoroughly I disliked Scarlet Stone

ps: *I don't know why my notes and highlights didn't sync*

Stop what you're doing!!!
My next HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, MUST READ BOOK that y'all have to GRAB!!
“I read a story about love. The character in the book said you can’t buy a happily ever after … you can’t buy love. But I could. "
I can buy it for 3.99$ and die a happy gal, cause nobody...and I mean NOBODY sates my heart as Jewel does with her unique writing and unconventional stories. Setting the bar higher with every book, this prolific writer is her own best competitor. master crafter of nuanced romances with heart touching sentiments, I'm thrilled to experience her books everytime.
Carving out her peculiar characters with gay abandon, she likes to have fun with them, putting them in hilarious situations and watching them stumble & fumble through the book.
“Ten years of embracing celibacy. Ten years of settling into a new normal. Ten years and you had to derail me at the finish line.”

description

Fortuity is a MUCH AWAITED, funny and touching story of finding Love and happiness in unexpected places. Love comes visiting second or third time around for both Nate & Gracelyn. Single parents struggles and forged family onuses throwing hurdles and shifting priorities for them. Interspersed with cute girly times, perplexed overprotective Daddy- Daughter times and stolen kisses times, the exasperation Nate feels with her smart mouth daughter sets stage for some of the funniest scenes I've ever read!!!
My hands will release her … set her free. But my heart can’t let go, which means she will rip it from my chest and carry it with her forever.

description

A quirky heroine in charge of a sulking, sad boy + a stoic professor accompanied by a sassy, too smart for her own good daughter, and you have the makings of a Perfect Romantic Comedy.
But then how did the tears drip in a stream from my eyes?
That's the magnificence of picking A book or every book by Jewel. what you get is a hefty dosage of ALL the FEELS in CAPS. From hilarity to melancholy and all the emotions in between.
"We can’t turn off the sun, run from the wind, or push back the tide. Some forces are just too strong. Love isn’t an emotion. It’s a force."
There's MY man Prof Nathaniel Hunt whom we met in Transcend & Epoch. He's the man standing still in a bubble of grief, while the world moves around him. This book gives HIM a chance at finding happiness.

description

“He's a Real Boyfriend. A boyfriend who loves you beyond reason, even when he’s not sure you love him the same way.”
His new neighbor is Gracelyn Glock with her new ward Gabe, trying to adjust her life around her nephew, and struggling noticeably.
I found her frothy personality particularly adorable. Trying to step up to the plate she's been forced to stand on, gives her character grace and compassion.
Their meet is the simplest and yet the most complicated way

description

Gabe(10) finds his opposite nemesis in Chatterbox Morgan( 10 going on 30). She sees ALL, tells ALL, Talks ALL...and then some. Wise and smart way beyond her years, she's my most fave character in the book.
“Practice?”
“Yes. If I get a boyfriend in school, I don’t want him to think I don’t know what I’m doing.” Kill. Me. Now.

description

The story is trademark Jewel. I laughed till tears tumbled down my eyes, red faced and breathless with a severe case of giggles.....and the next line scalding them with heartbreak and angst.
Deftly conveying intended emotions in precise words, Jewel is world apart from her peers in meticulous narration and skillful dialogues. Exploring every relationship deeply, every character gets their fair share of spotlight. I loved this well endowed story with ALL MY HEART and I'm guaranteeing that you will too it's the simplest of story that will twist your heart like no other!
"So.....it's as simple as Fortuity"
My heart has grown bigger because of you, jewel and "If you're ever in jersey........" I'll fill it to the brim with All My Love for YOU

Why I read this book

I didn’t love Nate as much as some readers did in the first two books but I was sorry for him at the end of Book 2 as all the women he loved either died or left him. It was a sad ending for him. So I wanted his happily-ever-after. He needed a happy end, too. That’s why, I read Book 3 even though the blurb was something I disliked. I hoped that the book would feel different but alas, the book was even more disappointing than the blurb for me.

What I can shortly say is:
Nate definitely deserved a better book!

HERE ARE MY REASONS FOR DISLIKING THIS BOOK:

1. The hero here doesn’t feel like Nate.

The heroine keeps comparing Nate to the actor who plays Jamie Fraser in the series "Outlander" and she does it like 500 times! I had my own Nate in my mind but she kept telling me I needed to imagine Jamie in my head for Nate.

I hate it when writers do that. DO NOT GIVE US A CELEBRITY NAME for your hero or heroine. Leave it to our own imagination after your physical description.

As I said, Nate in this book doesn’t look like the Nate I imagined in previous books but worse than that, he doesn’t feel like Nate, either. His character, the way he acts in situations have all made me feel that this is a different person.

I wonder if Ms Jewel wrote an ordinary stand-alone book and didn’t think it had anything special and that’s why she then changed the name of the hero to Nate and added a few pages of his past from the previous books to make it more interesting??? Well, maybe… or maybe not. I don’t know. What I know is HE DIDN’T FEEL LIKE NATE to me.

2. Gracelyn is a sweet woman but she is not a good match for Nate.

After the losses of two big loves, Nate needed a very special woman - a woman I should believe that would make him forget all about his losses.

The heroine Gracelyn is a sweet woman, but nothing else. She had nothing special to get the attention of Nate other than her hair that reminded him of his dead wife’s hair.

Yeap, although she is nothing special, her hair is just like the one Nate’s dead wife had. The highlights in her hair reminds him of Jenna, his dead wife. And in the end, she feels so insecure that she dyes her hair to red.

Nate thinks that sometimes the way she acts also reminds him of his dead wife.

IS this the heroine you would choose for Nate?

Not my choice, sorry. I thought it was a pathetic situation! I would hate to remind the man I love of his dead wife.

Reading the following quotations might help you to see how uncomfortable I felt reading all about it.

I miss my wife every day, even after a decade without her. Knowing I showed our daughter the world, that I did exactly what we had planned on doing, brings a bittersweet smile to my face.

***

“Is there something in my hair?” I smooth it with both hands.
“No.” He meets my eyes, and a sadness ghosts along his face. “You just … well, your hair reminds me of someone. That’s all. Sorry. I’m not trying to make you feel uncomfortable.”

***

I take a seat next to her, reminding myself to keep my gaze from lingering on her hair. It’s hard. I do it a lot, and I can tell that she notices it because she smooths her hands over her hair when I let my gaze linger too long.

***

“You’re staring at my hair again.”
“Jeez …” I close my eyes, wrinkling my nose. “I’m sorry.”
“Would it help if I wore a hat?”
“No.” I grin, resting my forearms on my knees while diverting my gaze to the ground. “My wife …”
“Your wife?”
“Yes. When I met my wife, she had your hair. The length, the color, the highlights—or streaks as I called them.”

***

“My head inches side to side in total disbelief. She reminds me of Jenna in so many ways it renders me speechless.”

See? How would you feel if you were in her shoes?

Let’s go back to Gracelyn.

Her life didn’t go like she wanted. She was never able to overcome the loss of her first boyfriend and thus she ruined all the other relationships that followed. She still talks to her dead boyfriend in her mind sometimes.

Here is one example.

“You never sucked me off like that. He must be special.”

I don’t know if you would like the humor here, but I hated it. Yuck!

Well, now, Gracelyn's brother and his wife are dead and she inherits her nephew. She becomes his guardian.

Neither her character nor her career is interesting enough to be Nate’s final big love. As a matter of fact, she is not even interesting enough to be a heroine.

I didn’t dislike her. I just found her too uninteresting.

3. I never felt their connection, never believed in their love.

At first, Nate doesn’t show any interest in Gracelyn. He doesn’t include her in his invitation even when his daughter wants to invite her nephew Gabe to dinner. He ignores her for a long while. However, he stares at her hair ☹ Go figure.

On the other hand, Gracelyn has a man-ban because she thinks she is unlucky at love but she finds Nate very very attractive as he looks like Jamie Fraser!

How nice, right? Everyone looks like someone else!

Then one day, Nate kisses her.
I didn’t know he wanted to kiss her, huh!

Another day, he wants to have sex with her.
Well, I saw that coming, at least.

However, it is never a deep feeling. He keeps saying it is a temporary fun. She keeps saying it can’t last but she can have some fun. So what happens feels very ordinary and very insignificant.

“There’s nothing to worry about. You promised to not fall in love with me. I’m going to return the favor. If we become good friends, we can be pen pals when I leave. Morgan and I have lots of pen pals around the world.”

***

She turns her head, smiling as my mouth finds hers. Her hand presses to my cheek. It’s slow like us. Destination unknown. Fortuity.

When she pulls back, I take a minute to remind myself she is my here and now. An experience. A beautiful memory in the making. She’s not Daisy or Jenna. I will leave. She will stay. And that’s okay.

So after being celibate for 10 years, Nate breaks it with a woman he is mildly interested in and for a temporary relationship.

Then, one day he feels more. And also, she starts to feel more. Nope, I didn’t see that coming, either. There were no signs.

Here is the thing:

Ms Jewel neither tells nor shows how they fall in love. The majority of the book is focused on the kids. Kids, kids, kids… Minor incidents, insignificant stuff. So not my jam, by the way..

And also there are many many chapters with other family members. So very boring. Whatever...

But because of so many pages about the kids and other unimportant stuff, when he says he loves her, you kinda ask yourself, “When did that happen? How did that happen? What did I miss?"

One day ago, she was just a neighbor he had sex with and was gonna leave behind. When did she become important?

As if the fact that I didn’t feel their love wasn’t enough, I also didn’t feel their physical connection or passion, either.

Most of the sex scenes fade to black. And a bit longer scenes are not even mediocre. They are just dull and ordinary, still short and all of those scenes lack passion, heat and emotion. I never felt their chemistry.

And I hated everything more when it is Gracelyn who says she loves him first. Then he says he loves her too but … well, whatever.

4. Stupid separation

It gets on my nerves when the hero and the heroine of a romance novel are separated because of sacrificing themselves for the wishes of other people.

In this book, Gracelyn’s nephew wants to stay in the city where he was born and raised, where he goes to school and has friends, which is natural. And Gracelyn wants to give him that.

Morgan, on the other hand, knows nowhere as her home as they have been travelling the world for the past 8 years but she wants to go to the city where her mother died. That’s why, Nate leaves Gracelyn and takes Morgan where she wants to go.

They are separated for a year because of wanting to give those children what they want. Giving them a good life and a lot of love isn’t enough??? You should do whatever they ask and sacrifice your so-called big love for them?

Wow, what a romance! Again, not my jam...

5. I hated how they came together after a long separation

In the last 40 pages or so, Ms Jewel starts to talk about a big love… a love that was destined, blah bla bla. A couple who cannot live without each other. A couple who miss each other like crazy.

I was like, which couple????

Yeah yeah, she is talking about Nate and Gracelyn’s love but she forgot to tell us or show us that big love in the book so while she was trying to bring the separated couple together because they were destined, she even does a worse job than she did while making them fall in love.

When they are separated for approximately a year, Nate doesn’t visit her at all.
He doesn’t even call her, let alone visit her.
He sends her a few letters, he sends her the manuscript of his book etc but nothing else.
No phone calls, no face time.

And in the end, she lets go of him in her mind, believing that it will hurt more if she keeps thinking about him and missing him.

Then, A COINCIDENCE brings them together. And if they hadn’t met by accident after a year in a different city other than they live in, I am sure they would not be together now.

And still when they meet again, they have the same problem. Morgan, Nate’s daughter, was the main reason for the separation of Nate and Gracelyn, but in the end she is the reason they are together. When Gabe, Gracelyn’s nephew still doesn’t want to move, it is Morgan who persuades him.

So the big happy end of the big lovers was from the hands of two children. If they hadn’t let it happen, it would never have happened, if you ask me.

Again, wow, what a big love!

6. The way he tells her he loves her more was absolute shit!

Nate tells Gracelyn he loves her more than he loved Daisy and Jenna but the reason he gives is nothing about Gracelyn. It's bullshit!

He just says every time a person loves someone, his heart grows bigger. Now his heart is bigger so the love he feels for her is bigger. Oh come on, this is such a shitty way of saying you love someone more!

“I love you more than I loved Jenna. Not because I didn’t love them with my whole heart. I did. It’s just that my time away with Morgan has taught me one thing. Our capacity to love grows with time. It grows with every new person who touches our lives. So I love you more because my heart is bigger.”

Argh! I would be so very angry - and upset - with this explanation if I were Gracelyn.

You see? He doesn’t love her more because she is more special. He loves her because of his capability of loving more. This is no good way to tell someone why you love them more.

7. Morgan, Nate’s daughter, is too mature for her age. She doesn’t act like her age.

I don’t like children who don’t act their age. She sometimes talks too smart, which is OKish but she sometimes talks like an adult, which is weird.

“We should talk later. Don’t you think, Morgan?”
“No, Dad. We don’t need to talk. I know what you’re going to say. You’re not marrying Gracelyn. She already told me that, but you can’t really know that. Things change. Feelings change.”

Am I supposed to believe a 10-year old would talk like that? Maybe they do and I have no idea. It still feels far from convincing to me.

Nate took Morgan to a world tour for 8 years and at the age of 10, she has never been to a public school. He educated her. She knows a lot about everything. Still something happens and it feels weird. She catches her dad and the heroine Gracelyn while she is giving him a blow job. She later asks Gracelyn what a penis tastes like. Nope, nope, nope. I didn’t like that conversation.

And by the way, after Nate learns that his daughter saw them in a compromising situation, this is what he thinks:

I fear that she’s not making a big deal of it now, but years from now she will think back and her mind will scream, “Gross! I saw the neighbor lady giving my dad head!”

See? He thought she was just a woman he had sex with and it was going to be over soon. She was just the neighbor lady for a long while. Even this quote shows how insignificant she was for him for a while.

That’s why, I never believed in their big love. He got up one morning and felt it was more? Or what?

8. Nate and Gracelyn don’t talk about their past much.

Gracelyn learns about Nate's reincarnation story from someone else. Nate doesn’t tell her. She later reads it in his book, as well.

Gracelyn doesn't share her past sorrows with him either. Even the landlord knows more and Nate learns it from the landlord that her first boyfriend died.

Things like that were other big mistakes in the book. If they had talked more about their feelings, past lives and past losses, they would have connected more strongly maybe.

There was no real bonding conversation between Nate and Gracelyn. A few kisses and some dull sex bonded them forever??? Oh come on, Ms Jewel, you could have done much better than that!! Why did you waste Nate’s story like this?

OK, OK, rant over, I am out. I just wanna forget this book…

'FORTUITY' is the third full length book in Jewel E. Ann's 'Transcend' series. This can be read as a standalone but seriously why would you? to love this completely start from the first book.

I'm not going to write this review up as I normally would, just go in blind, love this book as it should be loved, and like me come away with a heart full to bursting and loving this authors witty personality even more. I fell in love with this story from the get go, that very first page pulled me in, that last page left me happy and completely satisfied.

95584255-2964411946980686-8271137637977292800-o

I can only count 5 unicorn authors of mine on one hand and this author is one of them!! She's a must read!! When something of hers turns up on your kindle you do the only thing you can do, and that's turn off life..

I’m literally sitting here with tears rolling down my face holding in my giggle snorts as I read the most hilarious haircut to be given!! 😂OMG!!

This was such a fun, laugh out loud, light hearted with all the feels thrown into it kind of book. A must read!! I haven't sighed, swooned, giggled, loved anything like this book in such a long time!! Definitely a must read during these trying times!!

Every character played a huge part in this book and I love each and every one of them. I was so glad
to learn that Nathaniel Hunt and his daughter Morgan were getting their very own book, which became one I was highly anticipating!!

Fortuity
💚 4.5 Stars 💚

'Fortuity' can be read as a stand alone, but anyone who read the 'Transcend' Duet CANNOT miss this book!!! ❤🎉
Griffin and Swayze got their happy ending, but WHAT ABOUT NATE...? 😭

📚 "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲." 📚

8 years ago, Nathaniel Hunt packed his belongings and took his daughter Morgan for a trip around the world. Now they're back, living in San Diego for 3 months - a location that was chosen by fortuity... and guess who lives next door? 💚

Gracelyn Glock is in a Man-Ban after her heart got broken 3 times. She always had herself to care for, until her brother and wife died and left their 10-year-old son, Gabe, in her care. 🙏

Morgan and Gabe bond instantly - and so does Nate and Gracelyn, but they only have 3 months, because despite their great connection - they can't be selfish... Their kids are their priority. 💔

After he lost everything, Gracelyn promised Gabe she would not uproot him from his school and friends... and Nate promised Morgan he would take her back home, to be near her mother's grave and the rest of her family. 💚

They both experienced pain and loss - they both deserve a happy ending. They love each other, but they love their kids MORE... So how will it end??? 😱

📚 "𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. 𝗜𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀. 𝗦𝗼 𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿.” 📚

I will not compare it to the 'Transcend' Duet, because they are completely different - AND because, come on... no one can compete Griffin! 💚😝👑
I really enjoyed the ride - but there were also things I didn't like. For example, there were parts at the beginning I struggled with... I don't know exactly what was missing, but if that wasn't Nate's story, I might be less forgiving. (But it was Nate... and we know each other personally, so I forgave easily!) 😂

Later on, I understood why the book was written this way - because compared to the previous books, the characters here are mature (she's 41, he's 46) and it certainly made no sense to add dramas to the story. Jewel's choice to write a mature and realistic plot was excellent... despite it's slow pace at times. ❤

📚 "𝗪𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗻, 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱, 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗱𝗲. 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴.
𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲." 📚

This is a story about finding love in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was romantic, funny, touching and had lots of important life lessons... But what made this book so good is it's characters - each contributed to the story perfectly. 🙏

I can write how amazing Gracelyn was or how Nate made me swoon (and him as a dad almost made my ovaries explode!) But the one who really stole everyone's show was 10-year-old Morgan... a curious and opinionated girl who stole my heart and made me laugh out loud so many times! (Especially because of her curiosity about the taste of... some body parts! Lol) 😂💕

This book was a great closure to the 'Transcend' Duet and totally lived up to my expectations. I finished reading it feeling satisfied with a huge smile on my face! 💚💚💚

It's time for my BEST BOOKS OF 2020 LIST

READING UPDATE 2021: loving it still
___________________________________

Ever since I read Look the Part I was waiting for another book by Jewel E Ann that would blow my mind. A love story that would check all my boxes. And I finally found it!

I must admit, the beginning of Fortuity didn't convince me, at least not immediately. Instead the story grew on me with each chapter. The characters, Gracelyn and Nate, the kids, and Mr Hans - it all started making sense to me. I fell in love with the friendships, the chemistry, the banter, the connections - there was so MUCH in this book!!!!

But most of all this overwhelming connection between Gracelyn and Nate - wow, all I can say is GOALS!!!! Their LOVE, so ardently, so touching, so all consuming.

I teared up, smiled, laughed out loud, chuckled, and also sighed from the bottom of my heart too many times to count. I was consumed by the book and 100% invested.

I read this book as a standalone. Honestly I don't even remember much about the previous duet, until the connection became more obvious at the end. But besides that the book can easily be read as a standalone.

I expected NOTHING out of this book, and got EVERYTHING!!!

I'm one happy reader - thank you!!!!!

Loved this book so much and can't wait to read my next 5 star book by her. Will probably read it again before the year is over. :D

*****FIVE STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

I had no idea we were coming to San Diego so this woman could stitch up every single one of my wounds, kiss every scar, and remind my heart that it has an infinite capacity to love.

FINALLY, we get a happy ending for one of Jewel E. Ann’s most beloved Heroes—Nathaniel Hunt. If you've read the first two books in the ”Transcend” series then you know and love this beautiful character. If you haven’t read them, now is a good time to get to this EPIC story. I have deep love and admiration for Jewel’s writing and am not exaggerating when I say that I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve when she releases a new book. ”FORTUITY” was a book that HAD to be written! Nate has suffered more than his share of devastating loss. In this last installment of the series we learn that it’s never too late to find true love.

I love it when authors take a chance and write about romances between characters over the age of forty. Nate and Gracelyn’s journey is a slow burn. I was beginning to think that their story would be angst-free and a steady road to an HEA but get ready to have your hearts and minds put through the wringer through the last 35-40 % of the story. They’re in what seems to be an impossible situation that has no room for compromises. It’s torture but when you get to the end, you’ll hopefully love this book as much as I do.

Jewel E. Ann has a gift and it always results with me in tears. After finishing Fortuity I can say Mission accomplished! This book has it all. Pure comedy gold. Fantastic characters and I mean every single one of them and a well developed story. I’ve read Transcend and Epoch but Fortuity can be read as a stand-alone. But for me having read those two books only made Fortuity that more special to me.

Nathaniel Hunt and his daughter Morgan. I was ecstatic when I learned that they would get their own story. OMG what a wonderful, heartfelt and hilarious story it was. I just want to shout from the rooftops or in my case balcony to read this book. Gracelyn and her nephew Gabe complemented Nate and Morgan so well. The friendships and chemistry were amazing. Absolutely Spot on!
I have to mention Morgan. The clever and cute ten year old girl who has a world of knowledge for such a young age captured my heart instantly. Her remarks and her spunky personality fitted the story so well. She definitely made Nate and Gracelyn sweat a couple of times. Fantastic.
Nate and Gracelyn was a joy to follow and experience. Their chemistry was insane and their growing friendship left me with goosebumps and tingles.
It’s not easy being a single parent and especially when you’ve experienced the loss of loved ones. As funny as Fortuity was it also had its serious moments and it suited the story. It was the perfect balance and only made me want to stay with these people.

Fortuity is a brilliant romantic comedy that also has its intense and serious moments. It’s a mature romance with so much heart. What really made Fortuity shine was its characters. This is an ensemble where every character brought something to the story.
Nate and Gracelyn was so worth the wait. I used to be team Grocery Guy but now I’m leaning towards Team Nate. What a book!

"Hearts are meant to beat and keep us alive. They’re also there to love, not sit on a shelf in timeout, or in your case, a strikeout. When the time is right, get back in the game and let that heart of yours fall in love again."

Oh my gosh. I'm soooo happy right now but also I'm a little bit emotional because I have to say goodbye to Nate. Ahhh I'm gonna miss him very bad. 😭😭😭

Ps. Jewel, thank you so much for this book but I'm begging you, could you write a book about Morgan? Please!!! 😍😍😍

“Happiness comes in small packages. It’s not so much a state of mind, but a moment.”

I've been wanting to read Fortuity by Jewel E. Ann for the longest time, and honestly, the main reason is because I love the cover so much. It just radiates pure happiness. I want to preface this by saying I haven't read Jewel's 'Transcend' series, so I had no clue who Nate was.

Nathaniel Hunt is a single dad who has spent the last 8 years of his life traveling the world with his daughter. He's back in the US for the first time since his travels began and he meets his new neighbor, Gracelyn. Gracelyn is in her early forties and has never been married or had any children. Her life has drastically changed since her brother and sister-in-law passed away and left their son in his care.

Gracelyn is trying to navigate motherhood and grief and Nate is readjusting to being back in the states with his daughter. Their kids become fast friends and these two develop a relationship with time. I liked Gracelyn and Nate both, but I never truly felt their connection. I wanted to. I think Jewel E. Ann is a fantastic story-teller and I love her writing, but I didn't love the romance in this one for some reason. I wonder if I would have felt more had I read the first two books in this series, I'm not for certain. Also, this book was written in dual pov, but the female narrator does a poor job voicing Nate imo. His chapters sound almost identical to hers and it was sometimes hard to tell who's pov it was in the audiobook.

What I did truly love about this one was the kids. They were so much fun and made the book for me. Specifically Nate's daughter, Morgan. She was so funny and I loved her interactions not only with Nate, but with Gracelyn as well. Though this wasn't my favorite Jewel E. Ann book, there was definitely a lot to love.

It's well written, which is why it gets 3 stars.

But I am PISSED. 46% and the author teases with their FIRST time together, and she doesn't describe it??????? Well, now I've skipped ahead to her giving him head, so we shall see.....

Head gets interrupted by the guy's 10 year old daughter!!! Who later asks the woman what a penis tastes like!!!

DNF 55%. I can't any more. There's some description but nothing graphic. And I just don't have enough patience for slow burn that doesn't actually BUUUUURRRRRNNNNN!

"Hope shouldn't shackle the heart, it should free it."

When the title of a book is absolute perfection in relation to the meaning of the story, one you know you can look back on after you've closed the book and pondered all the amazingness you just witnessed: you know it's going to be a book that sticks with you. I officially have a book hangover from this one and it will be added to my all time favorites list on the side bar of my blog. I loved this book. I loved Nate's HEA. I loved Jewel's words. Once again, she gives me the banter, the emotions, the reality....the truth behind a fated love. FATED because there is no other word for something that was written in the stars. Jewel E Ann's version of fate is my favorite one.

noun
for· tu· i· ty | \ fȯr-ˈtü-ə-tē , -ˈtyü-, fər- \
plural for tu i ties
1: the quality or state of being fortuitous
2: a chance event or occurrence

adjective
for· tu· itous | \ fȯr-ˈtü-ə-təs , -ˈtyü-, fər- \
1: occurring by chance
2a: FORTUNATE, LUCKY
2b: coming or happening by a lucky chance

Understanding the meaning of Fortuity (I admit I had to look it up) enhanced my interpretation of this book. So, going in with this knowledge, I was seeking a higher truth....a higher meaning because I know Jewel's stories go deeper than just words. She incorporates feelings into her stories, ones that I couldn't have imagined myself feeling. She gave me allllll the stomach pangs. She gave me the heart palpitations. She gave me all the emotions and panic with this book. Those are what I've come to expect with her books. But the tears (what!!?) and the amount of giggles I got were two things I didn't see being combined in this book - and it made it all the more amazing. This story was literal perfection for me. It was down to earth, it was real, but at the crux of the story, it was conversational. The hidden meanings. The touches. The smiles. The hidden kisses....not being hidden. There was SO much to this story that above all made me smile. JEA nailed funny with a hint of serious - they were so relevant because the amount of truth to their situation, and their own worlds colliding like they did, it made them relatable. I felt so in tune with Nate and Gracelyn, to the point that I was looking in on and witnessing their relationship grow, first hand. I got to live it with them....vicariously through them. I had ALL the feels. This was SO good.

I hate admitting this, but going into this book, I was worried about how Nate's world was going to coincide with my mental picture of how it was going. HAHA! I know, I know....not right, but JEA built him up so well in her Transcend Duet that I already had this whole world set up for him. Not that I didn't trust her....but I didn't trust her. I will never NOT trust her ever again.

I love Nate's devotion to his daughter. Loved him before, but this just added more depth to his character. He loved Morgan so so much, and the way he was raising her just made the swoon factor incalculable. Looking at the way Morgan was, it sure made for some giggle-worthy moments aside from the simmering love story of Nate's and Gracelyn's that was going on in her background. She had so much spunk and she was a character, all right. Gabe was her perfect counterpart - and their relationship was so funny to watch come to life. He was truly the 10 year old boy - and add in the world crushing circumstances he's living through. I think JEA nailed his personality so well. And for not being a mother, Gracelyn sure handled some serious parts extremely well, and I commend Jewel’s handling of that. Oh, I got tears when Gracelyn and Morgan had their first "talk." Heartfelt and pure. So innocent and mature. I got many a sentimental tear while going on this journey not just with Nate and Gracelyn, but Gracelyn and Morgan. It really was perfect and I loved that it was addressed and how it was addressed. Seriously, so good. No shock value, no stupid drama - it was just handled with composure and the hilarity the situation called for.

"I'm not sure what brings me the most pleasure -- tasting her or watching her."

Their intimacy was delivered powerfully, yet with the perfect amount of restraint. I could've been reading a scene and laughing one minute, but finding myself getting the anxiety pangs to match the flirting they were doing the next. The capacity of Nate’s heart to love is tremendous. But to see him being able to give that emotional side of himself to Gracelyn was so special because it’s the Nate I remember meeting. The chin lifts and the lip rubs. The eyes that hold all his emotions and the touches that bring the chills. He gave me all the chills.

I love that she’s not a safe writer. I love that she gives me a story that’s emotional and unpredictable - and she makes me feel and live through it. She’s brilliant in that capacity. Absolutely brilliant.

You guys, to top it all off, the cover was perfection too!!! It matched perfectly with the first two books in the series - but it is the most fitting cover for this story. It fits Gracelyn and watching that cover actually play out in the book put a smile on my face.

To sum it up, this was the:

Perfect story of a father of a young woman growing up before his very eyes, despite his readiness to accept it.

Perfect story of a man finding love again after he never imagined he would.

Perfect story of an aunt and nephew navigating a whole new world that is now foreign to them.

Perfect story of a woman giving her heart another chance at beating.

Perfect story of love.

This was truly the perfect story for me. A story of fate. A story of love. A story of growth. This is easily going on my Favorites List for 2020. I laughed, I cried, I fell harder in love with a man that had a heart that needed to be held. Unbeknownst to him and Gracelyn, she needed to hold that heart. Their story, their journey, wasn't without its hurdles, but those were what made it more.....fortuitous.

Guardian angels and worthy opponents. Jewel will always make a believer out of me.

"Letting go doesn't hurt as much as the fear of letting go."

I loved this book. I just...did. Often I find it super hard to explain why I loved a book, but super easy to explain it when I really disliked a book. It's all in the way it made me feel. And this book, it just made me feel. I love Jewel E Ann's writing even though it often takes me a bit to get into her books, but once I do, I'm totally sucked. This is no exception. I definitely loved Nate from the Trascend/Epoch books, so I'm glad he finally got his happy ending. I don't know, when I finished this book, I was just grinning ear to ear. The main characters were likeable and so were the secondary characters, especially the kids and Mr. Hans!

I will note that while I started listening to the audiobook, I switched to the books. I couldn't get into the audiobook because the book is written in dual POV yet the book is narrated by just a female narrator doing both voices. Extremely confusing and annoying. However, the book alone gets all the stars!

"Love isn't an emotion. It's a force."
You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll be twisted up, turned on, and inspired to the depth of your soul. What a beautiful love story. These characters are so real, so multilayered, so damn addictive. You'll want to be with them, be a part of their lives, and help them through their endless troubles. You'll never want to let them go.
What does a penis taste like? For three-thousand dollars, can you buy a happily-ever-after? You'll never know the true, profound meaning of those questions until you read this book.

This is a standalone love story ... BUT ... if you've read Jewel's Transcend duet, you will remember Nathaniel. I suggest you read the other two books first, because Nate played a HUGE part in that story.

description

And now here he is again ... to maybe finally find his happily ever after?

He's been widowed for ten years now - his wife died giving birth to their daughter Morgan.

He wasn't planning on ever falling in love again and he's leaving in three months to go back home to Wisconsin ... but there's this woman next door ...

Gracelyn is 41 years old. She just inherited her ten year old nephew Gabe - after her brother and sister-in-law passed away.

She's retired from men and she never planned on having kids after one too many failed attempts at a HEA! And now she has a grumpy pre-teen and a new, very interesting and very hot, neighbor to deal with.

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN ...

What will happen with Gracelyn & Nathaniel?
Will there be a HEA???
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺

ADORABLE!

This is not the extremely heartbreaking and slightly supernatural story you might be expecting after reading the other two Transcend books. But it's just as beautiful. Only more of an adorable, later-in-life romantic comedy/dramedy. About two people who long ago gave up believing in happily ever afters.

But of course we also have ALL THE FEELS!

Nate and Morgan are not staying in California - and Grace and Gabe are not leaving! How can we get our happily ever after?!?! GRRR! ☺

I just loved reading this!

Gracelyn and Nate are just perfect for each other. And the kids! They're just hilarious - especially Morgan - ten going on a 50 year old Professor. LOL!

I loved the whole San Diego beach house vibe too - and the adorable old landlord.

I just loved it all. Nothing more to say. I don't want to spoil anything.

Beautiful romance!

Wouldn't mind seeing this on Netflix one day soon!

FORTUITY was such a beautiful & adorable & funny love story! All the feels too! ☺

Favorite Quotes:

I’m retired from men. A series of unfortunate events forced me into early retirement. Death. Cheating. Houdini at the altar. I’m lucky like that.

“I’ve never had a boyfriend. And you haven’t had a girlfriend since Mom. It would be nice to practice a little before I start school this fall.” “Practice?” I tilt my head to the side. “Yes. If I get a boyfriend in school, I don’t want him to think I don’t know what I’m doing.” Kill. Me. Now… “It’s like when you try to get me to try something new to eat and I say I don’t like it. You say I can’t know that until I taste it. Well … I need a taste of a boyfriend.”

“It was the third strike. Three men have crushed me. I’ve officially retired from dating. I call it a man ban… How many strikes do you have?” I drum my fingers on the table. His lips corkscrew for a few seconds. “Two.” “See.”I point a finger at him. “You have one more chance. Don’t let it go to waste.” “Mmm …if that’s the case, I think Ill save my third chance for the nursing home… Why not? A younger woman of course. Some hottie in her late eighties with her own teeth and who still wears red lipstick.” My smile threatens to crack my face. “Not me. If I had my last chance to use in the nursing home, I’d seduce a male nurse. We’d be the topic of all the gossip, and the other old biddies would hate me…”

Before I had the chance to fall in love. I dreamed of you. You didn’t have a face or a name. Your voice was simply a medley of my favorite love songs, the whisper in my head when reading my favorite poems about love. You were the reason I woke up two hours before school to do my hair and makeup in hopes that some boy would give me a second glance. It was you … the idea of you. The dream of you. The promise from my adoring mother that someday I would find my Romeo.

My Review:

I cherished and reveled in every perfectly chosen word of this beguiling and engaging tale. I adored these characters to the nth degree, all of them. I adored them as much as I admire and covet their creator’s full listing. I haven’t read them all but she has never failed to delight or hold my interest with her crafty wit, and unique and indescribably stellar storytelling skills. Fortuity hit all the feels and while the characters’ personal histories were tragic and heart-squeezing, the overall emotional balance tipped more heavily toward the side of smirk filled levity, wistful smiles, and well-pleased sighs. This was crazy good writing and although I haven’t read the first two books in the series and didn’t need to, it is now a deep desire to come full circle with the total experience. Jewel E. Ann is da bomb!

“If I stay, I might forget I’m not supposed to want you to kiss me.”

Fortuity by Jewel E Ann was mesmerising, compelling, addictive and had everything we love in our romance. This is a story of second chances and living with grief and heartbreak. It’s about family connections, strength in adversity and love. So much about love. Jewel E Ann is a magnificent Author who grabs your heart and doesn’t let go until the last word on the last page. It’s a marathon and a journey of emotions where by the end you feel an exhausted sense that every word and every action got you to the finish line feeling an overwhelming sense of joy and satisfaction. If you’ve already read the Transcend duet you know exactly how excited we were to begin Fortuity, and we were not disappointed, rather it was so much more than what we were expecting. If you haven’t read the duet, this book can absolutely be read as a standalone.

‘This girl. She’s life. She pumped my heart when I didn’t think it could keep beating. She filled my lungs when I thought I’d taken my last breath. She crawled up my face and showed me I still had a smile.’

So if you were #TeamNate at the end of the Transcend duet by Jewel E Ann, you finally get his story. And what a tremendous story it was. Nate already owned our hearts, well this time he had us come over all unnecessary, melting into puddles on the floor. Being a forty-six year old single dad of the gorgeously sassy ten year old Morgan, we loved finding out what came after the Transcend duet for the pair of them and we revelled in their close relationship and the wonderful connection they had. It was truly a joy to read. Nate seemed less burdened and weighed down, more free if you will. He had an easiness about him which we just loved, this whilst still living with grief. He feels and he’s not afraid to show it. Especially when it comes to the new temporary neighbour, Gracelyn. However, Nate and Morgan are currently at the last pit stop before finally travelling home, so what happens when love goes up against time? It’s all about timings and who places first in the line of responsibility.

"Hearts are meant to beat and keep us alive. They’re also there to love, not sit on a shelf in timeout, or in your case, a strikeout. When the time is right, get back in the game and let that heart of yours fall in love again. Okay?”

It already has…

Gracelyn finds herself the guardian of her ten year old nephew after tragedy strikes. A single forty-one year old woman suddenly has to learn how to be a ‘mum’ and it sends her on a journey where she has to make decisions that will not only affect herself but also Gabe. Gracelyn has loved and lost and guards her heart with a will of steel. She will not entertain the possibility of finding love, because being tethered to a man from her past keeps her heart bound tight. Gracelyn was a terrific heroine, she had sass and a massive heart. She made us laugh till we had tears. She was without question a formidable opponent for Nate. The battle of wills and hearts. We loved every minute of their friendship, their intense attraction, their fear of falling in love and their bravery of jumping despite that fear.

‘This is it. This is what it looks like to love someone deeply…madly…to the depths of your soul. So much it rips your fucking heart out of your chest to let go.’

Fortuity affected us on every emotional scale possible. It made us cry, laugh out loud, cringe as well as swoon. The chemistry was scorching and the humorous and flirtatious banter was just delicious. It felt so all-encompassing, we couldn’t stop reading, fully invested in the magic of the words and the sheer anticipation. We’ve read a lot of wonderful slow build romances this month and this is definitely sitting pretty in the top of the list! Jewel E Ann has an incredible talent for integrating a sense of realism in her stories and such a unique way of timing; when you’re sad she makes you laugh, when you think it’s safe it’s really not and when you think all is lost she cleverly proves otherwise. In Fortuity the message was clear and we were reminded of the words by Thirty Seconds to Mars: “I will never Forget, I will Never Regret, I will live my life”

“How did we get here?”
“It’s complicated.”

This was a highly anticipated read for me and it completely over-delivered in every way. Firstly, I mean anything Jewel writes is amazing and she always manages to give me more than I was expecting. Secondly, if you have read the Transcend duet then this story is like getting a year’s worth of gifts in one hit. Three words - Professor Nathaniel Hunt. Oh yes, we delve deep into his life post Swayze & Griffin and IT WAS WONDERFUL!!

Okay, now that I have that gushiness out of my head, let’s talk about this fabulous story.

Nate Hunt was tragically widowed when his beautiful wife died giving birth to their daughter. After struggling with his loss and being a single dad, he decided to fulfil a promise they made to each other and took their daughter, Morgan, on a trip that took them all over the world. They left when she was two years old and have just returned, eight years later. They have rented a house at the beach in San Diego for summer, before they move back to their hometown so Morgan can begin public schooling.

Gracelyn has become the sole caregiver/guardian of her nephew Gabe after her brother and sister-in-law lost their lives in an accident. She has no idea what she is doing but she knows that from now on she needs to be 100% focused on loving and caring for Gabe. She sells up his family home and rents space at a house at the beach for summer so they can enjoy some carefree time together and Gracelyn hopes it will help Gabe work through his grief. Then Gracelyn meets her neighbour…

‘Neighbor Jamie’s wavy, dark ginger-blond hair - that’s the color of sand at sunset - ruffles in the wind, and his bronzed skin nearly blinds me because… He’s. Not. Wearing. A. Shirt. Full lips pull into a tiny welcome. ‘Hello, Sassenach…’ he whispers. Okay. Not really, but I’d love to hear him say it. ‘Hi, I’m Nathaniel Hunt, Morgan’s dad.’

Morgan is beside herself to see people moving in next door and she sets out to become friends with them. Morgan completely stole my heart. She is only 10 years old but she has travelled the world which in turn has educated her in the best way possible. She is very intelligent, inquisitive and loves to talk. Gabe is 10 too but more interested in devices and TV - two things Morgan has little experience of. Not being around other kids much of her life means she has very open and honest adult discussions with her dad, they have an incredible relationship. I guess you could say that Morgan is a wise old soul for her age.

Both Gracelyn and Nate have their own reasons for still being single in their 40’s and their past relationships have definitely had a huge impact on who they are today. It’s like they had to go through what they individually did to get to where they are now. Where they are now is a ridiculously mad attraction to each other.

‘God… he’s so sexy. Not Jamie sexy. Nathaniel Hunt brings his own brand of sexy, and I’m completely bewitched.’

A summer romance between them emerges that involves stolen kisses, super hot quickies and endless moments of fun and laughter. Plus a little bit of Jamie Fraser… This will be a summer neither of them will ever forget. It is the sad goodbye that they don’t want to think about. It is fortuity that brought these two families together and promises that will eventually pull them apart.

‘I’m not supposed to feel Nathaniel Hunt in my chest. He’s not supposed to take root in my mind. His touch isn’t allowed to linger on my skin. Yet, here he is… making a mark that I fear will be difficult, if not impossible, to erase.’

I have so much mad love not just for this story but the books that came before this. I highly recommend you read Transcend and Epoch as it will only give you even more appreciation of Nate and Morgan. I must make special mention of Mr Hans, their holiday home landlord, he is a secondary character but he added so much to their summer holiday. I love how Jewel brought Morgan’s personality to life, I love how no topic was out of bounds and her open honesty with everyone. This story was so heart warming and such a fantastic mood lifter. Stories like this are why I love to read.

‘Maybe not everything in life dies with a final breath. Maybe some things just… end. Maybe it’s not forever. Maybe it’s for now.’

Well its official: Jewel E Anne can take my money!!!! I’ve read most of this author’s books and she has always managed to make me feel the exact same way whenever I start and finish one of her stories. I’m giddy, nervous, swooning, and then finally, I exhale a contented sigh.

For anyone that has read the Transcend Duet, then you know that we were anxiously waiting for Nathaniel’s own HEA. This single dad stole our hearts from the very beginning and we needed him to find a woman that was going to take his breath away. Well, he got it and so much more in the form of a quirky spitfire woman who’s life just took a different turn.

Reeling from a family tragedy that has now made her a parent to her ten year old nephew, Gracelyn is now trying to navigate her new life while keeping a sense of normalcy in her surrounding. When she’s introduced to her new neighbor and his daughter for the summer, Gracelyn knows that for the next three months, things will not only be filled with sexual tension, but extremely complicated.

Reading this story felt like a summer kickoff and I just wanted to bask in the moment for really long time. I adored these characters and I loved that they weren’t perfect but they tried their best in everything that they did. This is one book that you won’t want to miss!!!

I love you more than I loved Daisy.”
Tears fill her eyes.
“I love you more than I loved Jenna. Not because I didn’t love them with my whole heart. I did. It’s just that my time away with Morgan has taught me one thing. Our capacity to love grows with time. It grows with every new person who touches our lives. So I love you more because my heart is bigger.”

⚠WARNING⚠ Si no has leído los libros anteriores y piensas leerlos, esta reseña te va a spoilear y si ya los leíste go ahead y si no los piensas leer pero igual quieres leer la reseña pues también go ahead

SO BEAUTIFUL !!! 😭💕😭💕

Nathaniel meets Gracelyn when they move in next door to each other in San Diego. Nathaniel has been traveling with his ten year old daughter, Morgan, for the last eight years. They are having one last adventure before going home to Wisconsin and settling down.

Gracelyn's world has just been turned upside down. Her sister and brother in law were killed in a cruise ship mishap and now she has sole custody of her ten year old nephew, Gabe. His parents didn't want his life disrupted any further so Gracelyn moved from her hometown to be with him.

Morgan and Gabe immediately hit it off and Morgan is something else. She is very mature and very intelligent but she is craving normalcy. This leads to some very interesting and hilarious scenes. This is my favorite:

“The truth. I said it tastes briny with a hint of copper and rust like an oyster. I told her it’s the most succulent, mouthwatering thing she will ever experience.”

I release her arm and have a mini stroke right here on the deck.”

Nathaniel and Gracelyn hit it off as well but they both know that nothing can come from anything they start. They are both in their forties and very aware of their situations...it both hampers and helps them, however, you know the heartbreak is coming and I really loved all the angst.

If you're in your forties and plus, you will relate to Gracelyn and how she feels about her body. I loved how she was able to accept things and move forward definitely helped by Nathaniel's perception of her.

Not everything was roses for me. Some of the ways that Nate acted bothered me. He's not always as understanding as he's made out to be. Also, Gracelyn seemed a bit confused as how to handle Gabe at times even though she was almost pro with Morgan.

Well, if you've read the first two books in the series, you have meet Nathaniel and if you're like me, you might feel a bit of hesitation to read this book. Let me explain...

In the second book of the series, most notably the epilogue, there is "something" that happens in the future. I felt happy with how it played out and was looking forward to that story. This isn't that story and I feel out of sorts.

It may be silly to think that way especially since I enjoyed the couple in the second book but I guess I felt like I was getting my cake and eating it too.

It's hard because all these books have a certain paranormal phenomenon interlaced in them. So, in a way you have to suspend some of your beliefs.

The ending/epilogue though cliche was very sweet. I am thrilled that this is a five star read for me and even with my hesitation, it was sooo worth reading!

-That woman... she makes every day a little better. I can't really explain it.

-Even if I can't have her, it doesn't stop me from being the guy who chases her.

Fortuity (Transcend #3) by Jewel E. Ann is a single dad, friends to lovers, standalone contemporary romance about selfless decisions, friendship, family, and unexpected love. It's full of humor, emotion, and bad timing. Two people who are no stranger to heartbreak, loss and pain learn their hearts still have more to give. This is my new favorite book by Jewel E. Ann. This couple's journey was so beautiful, and I loved every moment of this breathtaking story!

5 MILLION ALL THE EMOTIONS STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻♥️♥️♥️♥️😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I lost my original review so i have to start over😭

My heart is exploding with joy over this book! I can’t explain how much I loved it! I want to shout it from the rooftops but this is a spoiler free review so I shall hold back😂

To start with, i think you MUST read Transcend and Epoch before starting Fortuity.

God! Jewel E. Ann and her words!!!! As a reader if you don’t feel EVERY.SINGLE.emotion when you read her words and this book, I don’t know if we can be friends🤣 (jk)
From the first page to the very last I shed some kind of tears. Whether from laughing so hard until I cried or cried so hard from my heart aching...it was THE BEST CRY😭🤣

Nathaniel Hunt...WHAT A MAN!!!! *swoons* 😍😍
He was ALL THE THINGS!!!!!! We see a completely new side to him than we did in the first two books and I couldn’t have asked for a better man! He is funny, smart, loving, loyal and the best single dad EVER!!!!!! He has been through so much and it has shaped him into the most beautiful human. His love for Morgan alone makes you fall in love with him. The sacrifices he has made to give her the best life is so admirable. He has shaped her into the whip smart 10yo that she is, with a heart the size of Texas! She is wise beyond her years and has a sass that made this book for me! They have made the last 8 years of their life about learning and growing together to get to the point where his life begins and that’s when FORTUITY happens!

Gracelyn Glock aka Elvis...MY SPIRIT ANIMAL!!!!! I loved everything thing about her!! At 41 she is struggling with a new life and has experienced so much loss but she is doing it brilliantly!! Her inner dialogue was refreshing and a highlight for me! The talks she and Morgan share...yeah one scene had me screaming with laughter (you’ll know it when you get there 🤣🤣🤣). She is so honest and hilarious and loving and equally loyal.

The secondary characters are AH*MAZE*ING!!! Morgan, Gabe and Mr. Hans added so much to this book because it was just as much about them as it was Gracelyn and Nate.

Everything these two have been through, the loving, living, laughing, crying, losing, and heartbreak have led to this infinite moment in time when everything is as it’s supposed to be...if only for that moment. This was about choices and sacrifice and finding that moment and hanging on by your fingernails to it. It was about making decisions and changes that may not be what you want but what is meant to be.
Y’all know I love me some smut, but one of the things i love most about JEA is that I don’t need that filthy talking, gritty sexy time because her words fill you with all the emotions you can muster up. It’s ALL ABOUT THE WORDS!!!!!
And that EPILOGUE 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻♥️♥️♥️😂😂😂😭😭😭BE*U*TI*FUL!!!!!!!!!!!

So far this is my #1 read of the year! It has made me long for love that I know I deserve and that I’m never too old to find it.

I will never tire of the real, refreshing words and characters in Jewels books. She is one of those authors that have you salivating after a new book with just a title. She will forever be a favorite of mine😍

4.5 'It's complicated' Stars!

I've been curious to read Jewel E. Ann for a while now and everyone was raving about this book so much, I just had to read it. Yes, this is my first book by this author and I sure hope it won't be the last one because I really loved it! Fortuity is a good mix of family interactions, humor, burning chemistry and emotions. I fell in love with all these characters and their stories. I loved Nate and Gracelyn. I loved their new chance at love in a difficult moment in both their lives. I loved Morgan and Gabe. I just loved how this story developed as a whole.

I am a sucker for single parents romance and Fortuity was that and so much more. I also really enjoyed Jewel's writing a lot and how she builds the beautiful connection between these two families and between the amazing couple. GAH! Nate and Gracelyn together are just pure SPARKS! I loved it so much and I cannot wait to read more from this author. So unique!
